The Scumbag A Really Doesn't Want to Become Famous [Entertainment Circle] - Chapter 70
“You can’t handle your alcohol, yet you drank so much. Look at you now, what was supposed to be a wonderful evening has ended with me having to send you back to sleep.” Ye Miaoyi helped Yu Youqing into the room, watching as she collapsed onto the bed the moment they entered. Frustration laced her voice, “Teacher Jiang made her feelings so clear! Did you hear her? Or are you already asleep?”
Yu Youqing lay still, eyes closed, appearing as though she had indeed drifted off.
“Really asleep?” Ye Miaoyi noticed her furrowed brows and sighed, crouching down beside her. She began gently removing Yu Youqing’s makeup, murmuring, “Why do you do this to yourself? Didn’t Jiang Musheng make it obvious enough? What are you so afraid of?”
Yu Youqing’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. Ye Miaoyi knew she was awake but didn’t call her out. Instead, she continued softly, “But it’s okay. Even though I scolded you, remember, I’ll always be on your side, no matter what. Got it?”
After Ye Miaoyi left, Yu Youqing opened her eyes.
The events of earlier played like scenes from a movie in her mind, impossible to forget.
The moment Jiang Musheng finished speaking, the live stream exploded. The influx of viewers was so overwhelming that the fans’ screams of excitement were quickly drowned out as the platform crashed, leaving no one able to reconnect.
With little time left before the scheduled end, the production team had no choice but to issue an emergency statement, promising that the remaining confessions would be included in the full version of the episode. Even if the programmers worked overtime to fix the bugs, by the time they succeeded, the show would already be over.
Fans flooded Touchbo to discuss the moment, instantly overloading the servers and causing all the guests’ fan communities to crash temporarily once again sending the programmers scrambling.
As for those present, despite some level of anticipation, the sheer shock and awe on everyone’s faces when Jiang Musheng actually spoke was undeniable.
Yu Youqing couldn’t recall how the recording ended. All she remembered was that she hadn’t uttered a single word afterward.
Her face burned, her body temperature spiked, and her mind was a haze. She knew she was overwhelmed yet the more intoxicated she felt, the clearer her thoughts became.
How she wished she could respond to Jiang Musheng right then and there. But what could she even say?
Her hesitation dragged on until the show concluded. Sensing the unresolved tension between Yu Youqing and Jiang Musheng, Ye Miaoyi offered to escort her back to her room. Tomorrow, they would leave this place.
Tonight, Yu Youqing would sleep alone in this room, Wei Xi had switched rooms to avoid disturbing her.
Sleep was out of the question.
Her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen,
Jiang Musheng: Are you asleep?
She wasn’t. But Yu Youqing didn’t reply. The longer she lay there, the more restless she grew. The weight of her secrets gnawed at her should she confess? If she didn’t, she’d never forgive herself. But if she did, what if Jiang Musheng thought she was delusional or strange? What then?
At the root of it all, fear was the culprit.
She tossed and turned in bed, unsure how much time had passed, but ultimately couldn’t escape the torment in her heart. She grabbed her phone and turned on the light.
It was too hot. Yu Youqing wasn’t sweating, but she knew her heart was burning, she needed to step outside and cool off in the breeze.
She tiptoed toward the terrace, but froze on the last step.
Under the moonlight, someone was already standing there.
She didn’t know how long they had been there, but the silhouette was unmistakably familiar.
For a moment, Yu Youqing forgot to breathe. Unsure whether to announce herself, she simply stood in silence, wondering what Jiang Musheng might be feeling at this moment.
To her, Jiang Musheng’s back looked just like it had that first time she’d discovered her in the alley the lonely, darkness-fearing Professor Jiang.
It had been so long since she’d seen that side of her.
Jiang Musheng’s hand hung loosely at her side, clutching her phone, the screen still lit. It was their chat window clearly, she had been waiting for a reply.
All this time.
A sudden sting welled up in Yu Youqing’s eyes.
The night breeze wasn’t cold; it carried the first hints of early summer. She remembered that winter night when she had fled the garish, suffocating lights to the rooftop, only for Jiang Musheng to drape a warm coat over her shoulders.
Had Jiang Musheng felt the same way back then?
Unable to hold back any longer, she called out as she walked forward, “Jiang Musheng.”
The woman turned, tucking away her phone in surprise. Her first words weren’t to ask why Yu Youqing hadn’t replied, nor why she was still awake.
“Are you feeling unwell?” Jiang Musheng immediately scanned the area for water. “Still dizzy? If you are—”
“I have something to tell you.” Without hesitation, Yu Youqing caught Jiang Musheng’s slightly flustered hand, gripping two of her fingers tightly. Her gaze locked onto Jiang Musheng’s face as she repeated, “No more distractions. I need to talk to you.”
“Alright, I’m listening.” Jiang Musheng stilled, as if she already knew what was coming. Under the moonlight, their shadows stretched long behind them.
“I understand what you meant earlier tonight. And after you kissed me last time, what you wanted to say, I knew that too. I’m sorry. I told you it was my fault, that I was avoiding it on purpose.” Yu Youqing poured out everything in her heart. “I know running away isn’t fair to you, so I don’t want to run anymore.”
Jiang Musheng chuckled softly, her eyes tender. “Wait, so what you’re saying is, you’re willing to be my girlfriend, right?”
“Of course I am,” Yu Youqing answered instinctively.
“Good. Then promise me first, and then you can keep talking. Is that a yes?”
“What’s wrong with you? I am saying yes, but before that, I need to explain my situation so you can think carefully about whether you still want, Hey!” Before she could finish, Jiang Musheng interlaced their fingers and cut straight to the point.
“There’s no ‘whether.’ I’ve thought about this for a long time. Nothing’s stopping me. Trust me.”
Jiang Musheng said, “I’ll let you continue speaking once you agree to me. First, tell me are you saying yes?”
Yu Yousheng looked at Jiang Musheng, blinking her eyes repeatedly. In the end, all the words she wanted to say condensed into the simplest two: “I do.”
“Then you’ve agreed.” The tension in Jiang Musheng’s heart instantly dissolved, replaced by overwhelming joy that erased all the unease she had felt throughout the night. She pulled Yu Yousheng straight into her arms, holding her tightly before sitting down on the bench, adjusting their positions so Yu Yousheng could sit more comfortably in her embrace. “Now, speak while I hold you.”
Yu Yousheng: “!!”
What? Who said Jiang Musheng had never been in a relationship and didn’t know anything? Wasn’t she actually really good at this?
Now she had to take a moment to collect herself before she could continue.
“Then listen to me properly. Don’t interrupt.”
“Okay.”
Yu Yousheng took a deep breath.
“Actually, I’ve had feelings for you for a long time, but I didn’t dare say anything. At first, it was because I felt I shouldn’t. Back then, my company’s marketing strategy involved dragging you into promotional articles you know, like well, riding on your fame. And at the time, all I had were anti-fans. I didn’t want to affect you. But later, you told me I should listen to my own heart, and what my heart was saying was that I couldn’t stop myself from getting closer to you. I really couldn’t help it.”
Yu Yousheng touched her own face. Speaking while nestled in Jiang Musheng’s arms was something she wasn’t used to yet she felt unbearably shy.
“The first time I clearly realized I had feelings for you was when you brought me clothes on the rooftop. I knew you came specifically for me. And it was then that you told me that there had never been anyone else in your heart just me. The more I got to know you during the show, the more I couldn’t stop myself from looking at you. It felt like something beyond my control.” Yu Yousheng paused before continuing, “That time you kissed me, I realized this had to lead somewhere, but I didn’t know what the outcome would be.”
She hesitated for a long time, and Jiang Musheng waited quietly, not interrupting.
“Sometimes, I’m afraid this is all a dream. That I might wake up in a hospital bed, staring at my frail body, waiting for death to come. Honestly, sometimes I don’t even know which part is the dream.” Yu Yousheng’s words were fragmented, and she wasn’t sure if Jiang Musheng could understand. “All I know is that there was a moment when I was certain I had died.”
“But when I opened my eyes again, I was back at some point in my past. Right before I signed with the new company, before they offered me a new script. I don’t know which was the dream. I’ve kept this buried inside for so long, I don’t know if you can understand.” Yu Yousheng couldn’t even bring herself to look at Jiang Musheng’s eyes. She buried her face in her hands, her voice nearly breaking into a sob. “Signing with the new company felt like fate guiding me toward something. But sometimes, I’m terrified this is also a dream. That if I wake up again, you won’t be there anymore.”
Her emotions surged, making her voice tremble uncontrollably. Yu Yousheng felt Jiang Musheng’s arms tighten around her, offering silent strength.
Her hands were gently lowered, revealing those tender dark eyes gazing at her.
“You’ve been carrying this burden alone for so long. I know it’s been hard for you.” Jiang Musheng’s eyes were filled with compassion not a trace of the surprise or confusion Yu Yousheng had anticipated.
Yu Yousheng froze. “You, don’t think it’s strange?”
“Don’t you know? When you love someone, everything about them is wonderful. Nothing ever seems strange. But I have a question for you too.” Jiang Musheng continued softly patting Yu Yousheng’s back with the patience of comforting a frightened child. “That night when we were camping, you mentioned someone once told you that even the darkest night holds light. Can you tell me who that was?”
“That person? You, you’re not jealous of them, are you? That was from when I was very, very young. I don’t even remember what they looked like.” Yu Yousheng rarely recalled her childhood, it wasn’t a happy time. But since Jiang Musheng asked “After my parents divorced, I lived with my mother, but they both remarried. I got lost in the mountains that day because I was upset, but I took a wrong turn when it got too late. The forest was so dark. I was crying when I heard another girl’s voice.”
“She kept comforting me, and slowly I stopped being afraid. We were just children back then, so scared yet still falling asleep because we had each other. Later, my family found me and took me home. My mother said that girl was found and taken back too.”
Jiang Musheng said softly, “You must have been about eight then.”
“Yes, how did you know?” Yu Yousheng replied. “She was probably slightly older, she sounded much calmer. But I never saw her again. I started working very young and basically never returned. This place hasn’t been home for a long time.”
Jiang Musheng gazed at her silently, smiling for several seconds.
“Otherwise, how do you think I happened to know that place too? Why do you think I’m afraid of the dark?” Jiang Musheng whispered.
Yu Yousheng felt as if her heart had been struck.
“Maybe fate decreed that people with similar experiences should find each other. Who would’ve thought that on the night I was terrified, an even more frightened little girl would appear, crying so pitifully that I had no choice but to comfort her. She said the moon was beautiful, but the stars were amazing too tiny yet gathering so much light they could illuminate all fears.” Jiang Musheng’s voice was soft as she revealed the secret she’d carried all these years. Resting her head on Yu Yousheng’s shoulder, she finally shared her heart with the one she loved, watching realization dawn on Yu Yousheng’s face. “I couldn’t find her afterward, so I could only try to become as bright as possible. Luckily, in this industry, I found her again.”
“In my memory!”
Jiang Musheng knew her eyes were reddening for Yu Yousheng’s sake, not her own.
“The little girl I remember was reckless and brave, with an adorable spoiled charm because she was doted on. She could run off at night when she was upset, cry so loudly, and was afraid of pain. But when I saw her again, she no longer threw cute little tantrums, wasn’t willful anymore, and stopped expressing her unhappiness, she only made everyone else happy.”
“And what about me?” Jiang Musheng rested her forehead against Yu Youqing’s shoulder. “I just want her to be happy.”
Yu Youqing froze completely, then began trembling uncontrollably.
Jiang Musheng: “I know why she changed, and what happened to her. I knew before, but hearing you talk about it today made it even clearer.”
Yu Youqing: “Do you even know what you’re saying.”
“I do.”
Jiang Musheng finally lifted her head, and Yu Youqing saw her reddened eyes. Instantly flustered, Yu Youqing reached for a tissue but found none, so she raised her sleeve to wipe Jiang Musheng’s tears. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying? Teacher Jiang.”
“Don’t call me Teacher Jiang. I’m fine.” Jiang Musheng’s voice was hoarse as she cradled Yu Youqing’s hand, gently stroking it. “Do you remember the most obvious difference when you woke up?”
Yu Youqing went completely still.
She remembered,
“At the time, the only thing that contradicted my memory was hearing your radio interview.” Yu Youqing felt like a puppet, speaking numbly. “In that interview, you said, you said, you said.”
Jiang Musheng prompted her: “Said what?”
Yu Youqing: “That you had a white moonlight. So when you came to find me later, I always thought you were…”
“Always thought I was looking for a substitute, always thought you must look exactly like that white moonlight, but never considered that you were that person.” Jiang Musheng’s tone turned helpless as she spoke, though her happiness was palpable. Yet her expression carried deep sorrow, making Yu Youqing realize that Jiang Musheng had suffered no less than she had.
Jiang Musheng steadied herself before continuing: “Often, the one left behind suffers more than the one who leaves. Do you know what happened afterward? During your hardest two years, I was developing my career abroad. When I returned, all I knew was that I’d never see you again. In the years that followed, I only saw you in my dreams still crying easily, saying how lonely you were alone. I kept asking myself, could we have another chance? If we could, I’d make sure she knew from the start, that I’d express my feelings clearly.”
But alas, that little girl was a fool who took the wrong path as a child, and grew into a bigger fool who misunderstood her intentions, thinking she loved someone else.
“So.”
Jiang Musheng paused before finishing her words.
“You had a dream, and so did I.” She said, “But unlike you, I was never afraid, because to me, that was the dream. This is real.”
She tightened her grip on Yu Youqing’s hand and said earnestly, “You being by my side that’s what’s real.”
Tears streamed uncontrollably from Yu Youqing’s eyes. She was happy ecstatic even yet she couldn’t stop crying.
Words failed her.
So all this time, she hadn’t been going through everything alone.
“We’ll be fine. We’ll go far together and do everything we’ve ever wanted to do.” Jiang Musheng gently wiped away Yu Youqing’s tears, her voice even softer than her touch. “So now that we’re together, don’t worry about anything anymore, okay? And don’t cry.”
Yu Youqing’s voice hitched between sobs. “Y-you waited until now to tell me.”
“You waited until now too, but it’s my fault. I don’t know if you’ll understand, but when facing someone you like, if you don’t get any signals from them, it’s hard to be brave at first.”
Yu Youqing sniffled. “What signals?”
But the moment she asked, she suddenly knew exactly what to do.
With the heavy burden finally lifted, all her tension melted away. Even the initial shyness faded as she realized under Jiang Musheng’s indulgence, she could truly be herself without restraint.
Without hesitation, she looped her arms around Jiang Musheng’s neck and pressed a kiss to the corner of her lips. “A signal like this?”
“Perfect.”
In the next instant, Jiang Musheng’s grip tightened around her waist.
That single, fleeting kiss was enough to unleash the alpha’s long-suppressed desire.
Gone was her usual gentleness and restraint, she gave Yu Youqing no chance to escape.
“Last time, you said if you ever met the person who stayed with you that night, you’d thank them properly anything they wanted.” Jiang Musheng leaned in, her voice dropping low. “How about giving yourself to me?”
