The Scumbag A Really Doesn't Want to Become Famous [Entertainment Circle] - Chapter 10
Before getting off, Yu Youqing had already taken off the scarf Jiang Musheng gave her.
She had initially planned to carry it, but for some reason, she recalled the fans of Jiang Musheng accusing her of riding on his fame.
She wasn’t at least not now, genuinely not.
Somehow, she really hoped Jiang Musheng wouldn’t see those comments. But she knew he cared even less about such things than she did, he probably didn’t even know her account name.
From inside the car, she saw nothing but endless snow. Even before stepping out, she could already feel the bone-chilling cold. She immediately turned to Tiantian and said, “Forget about image, I want to survive! Do you have any super-warm gear?”
Tiantian hesitated before pulling out a military-style coat. “This is all we have.”
Yu Youqing suddenly remembered there were four guests on the show. She asked, “Do you have more?”
“What for?”
“To spread warmth and build a likable persona, of course,” Yu Youqing said mysteriously. “You’ll see.”
As soon as Yu Youqing arrived, she spotted Li Rongcheng. Knowing he probably didn’t have the best impression of her, she decided to take the initiative and greeted him first.
The outdoor crew only realized it was Yu Youqing when she approached, and they immediately started snapping photos.
“Since when do female celebrities show up like this?”
“Hahaha, she’s kind of refreshing. Wasn’t Yu Youqing supposed to be hard to approach? She seems pretty cute to me.”
“Keep it down, she’s coming over!”
Just then, Yu Youqing walked up to the crew and handed out heating pads to each of them. She lowered her fur collar, revealing a humble yet bright smile. “It’s freezing out here, thank you all for your hard work.”
The crew was stunned, unsure whether their eyes were dazzled by the snow or her smile.
Hard to approach? Whoever said that better watch their back!!!
Yu Youqing was bundled up so thickly that her suitcase nearly got stuck in the door when she entered.
The loud clang startled everyone inside, but Yu Youqing didn’t ask for help. With a determined tug, she yanked the suitcase through the door on her own.
Li Rongcheng studied her. Despite dragging her luggage all that way while wearing such heavy clothing, her face was now flushed red.
Early that morning, before heading to the campsite, the show’s producer had given Li Rongcheng and Lü Fan a heads-up.
“Gentlemen, you already know the guests. This outdoor shoot is going to be tough. We’re just not sure if Yu Youqing can handle it. If the young lady gets fussy or refuses to cooperate, we hope you won’t take it to heart.”
Li Rongcheng had immediately retorted, “If she can’t handle it, she shouldn’t have come!”
Who spoiled these young stars into being so delicate?
“You’re wearing so little?” Inside, it was warm enough for Yu Youqing to finally take off her coat. She greeted Liang Yitang, “Why do you always dress so lightly? Even if young people have strong immune systems, you can’t keep pushing your luck like this.”
Liang Yitang: “?”
Li Rongcheng: “?” What was with this kid’s oddly mature tone? Wasn’t that supposed to be his line?
Yu Youqing knew the show wouldn’t push the two hosts too hard, so she patted her suitcase and said, “I brought military coats for you guys. Want one?”
Liang Yitang scoffed, “No way!” Those coats were hideous, she’d rather freeze than look ugly.
“I want one!” Yin Zi came in from outside, greeting everyone loudly before immediately getting into character, intimately linking arms with Yu Youqing. “Sister Youqing, you’re so thoughtful! You actually prepared coats for everyone.”
Liang Yitang found this scene particularly grating.
“Now that everyone’s here, let’s start recording,” Li Rongcheng announced.
Yin Zi let go of Yu Youqing’s hand, who quickly put on her own military-style coat. As she stepped outside, she noticed Liang Yitang shivering and shaking her head with a wry smile. Wearing nothing but a thin, stylish coat in subzero temperatures was practically suicidal.
The cameras started rolling from this moment onward.
Yin Zi asked, “Aren’t we still waiting for a special guest?”
Lü Fan replied, “Her flight was delayed. She’ll be here in about half an hour. We can start recording while we wait.”
A staff member announced, “Now you’ll need to open your suitcases. We’ll be confiscating any items unrelated to the shoot.”
Yu Youqing had already learned about this from Jiang Musheng and calmly opened her suitcase, revealing the remaining two coats on top.
She held one up to Liang Yitang. “Are you sure you don’t want it? It’s really warm.”
Liang Yitang’s teeth were chattering from the wind, but she stubbornly insisted, “No need. I’m perfectly warm.”
As Yu Youqing walked past Liang Yitang, the latter whispered venomously in her ear, “Stop pretending to be nice! What are you trying to prove? Think you can make a fool out of me? Dream on!”
Meanwhile, Yin Zi had put on her coat and exclaimed, “I feel like I’ve been brought back to life!”
Liang Yitang: “…”
Yu Youqing lifted the last coat, revealing a stash of hand warmers and instant food underneath.
“Huh?”
“These items will be confiscated.”
“No problem. I know the camp will have everything we need for these three days.”
Liang Yitang sneered, “If you knew they weren’t necessary, why bring them, Sister Youqing? What were you thinking?” Clearly just trying to hog the spotlight now her plan had backfired.
Yu Youqing smiled warmly. “In that case, consider these a small token of appreciation for the crew. You all work so hard in the cold with little time to eat. These might come in handy.”
The staff members: “!!!”
She’s practically an angel!
Li Rongcheng looked at Yu Youqing with surprise. He hadn’t expected this young woman to be so considerate!
Had she really changed?
Liang Yitang was fuming.
This had to be intentional currying favor with the crew just to get more screen time and better shots. The angrier she got, the colder she felt. Just then, the staff opened her suitcase.
She had packed mostly beauty products, most of which were confiscated except for essentials.
Liang Yitang’s teeth chattered uncontrollably. Too upset to speak, her heart felt as cold as her body. For a fleeting moment, she wondered how it would feel to be wrapped in that military coat.
Damn it!
As the staff were about to open Yin Zi’s suitcase, a car pulled up through the snow.
Li Rongcheng announced, “Once you’re done with the suitcases, you’ll need to find food for lunch. Eat whatever you can find in the camp, if there’s nothing, you’ll go hungry. You can team up or not; we’ll have tasks in the afternoon.”
Yu Youqing, standing at the edge of the group, turned toward the sound of the approaching car.
When Jiang Musheng appeared in the snow wearing a long coat, Yu Youqing felt her expression must have looked utterly ridiculous at that moment. Her face always turned red in the cold, and now she was dressed so plainly probably looking like a moving, green lump in Jiang Musheng’s eyes?
Apart from Li Rongcheng and Lü Fan, everyone else’s expressions weren’t much better. The production team had kept it so secret that even they hadn’t known the mystery guest would be Jiang Musheng.
Yin Zi murmured, “I thought Teacher Jiang never liked variety shows, so why now.”
Jiang Musheng passed by Yu Youqing first, glancing sideways for a closer look. Yu Youqing instinctively wrapped the fur collar tighter around her flushed cheeks, suddenly regretting dressing like a bear.
Fortunately, Jiang Musheng only looked briefly before greeting the two seniors. Only then did Yu Youqing learn that Li Rongcheng had been Jiang Musheng’s teacher during her theater days.
That explained her presence, a student honoring her teacher’s request was only natural.
“Checking the luggage?” Jiang Musheng had come alone without any suitcases; her essentials would be delivered by Yang Yang later. She naturally took her place in the center, with three people separating her from Yu Youqing.
“Perfect timing,” Li Rongcheng nodded. “Where were we? Let’s continue.”
Yu Youqing wasn’t sure if she imagined it, but Jiang Musheng’s gaze seemed to sweep over her, lingering on the military-style coat in her hands.
During the luggage check, Liang Yitang had stubbornly refused to wear it, so Yu Youqing had packed one in her suitcase and held the other, intending to offer warmth to the mystery guest.
She just hadn’t expected that warmth would end up with Jiang Musheng.
Yu Youqing, who wanted to avoid riding on Jiang’s fame, felt the sting of irony.
Lü Fan teased, “Little Fish, not offering the coat anymore?”
Yu Youqing froze in panic would Jiang Musheng actually wear it? No way! Who’d dare make Teacher Jiang wear something so unfitting as a military coat!!!
Jiang Musheng was watching her.
Gritting her teeth, Yu Youqing extended the coat with trembling hands, “Teacher Jiang, it’s fine if you don’t!”
To her shock, Jiang Musheng stepped forward, took the coat effortlessly and draped it over her shoulders. “Thank you, very practical.”
Then, even more naturally, she stayed standing beside Yu Youqing.
Glancing at Yu Youqing’s neck, she asked, “Not cold?”
Yu Youqing immediately thought of the scarf she hadn’t worn of course, since Jiang had given it to her, she must feel slighted seeing it unused.
Teacher Jiang, let me explain!
But with cameras rolling, Yu Youqing could only tighten her fur collar and say, “This keeps me warm.”
Just then, a staff member opened Yin Zi’s suitcase and pulled out a scarf. “These items will be confiscated.”
Yu Youqing recognized it instantly wasn’t that identical to the one Jiang Musheng had given her? What were the odds? Though fans did say it was a popular design.
Jiang Musheng’s gaze fixed on the scarf.
Staff explained, “Except for gifts from others, everything else gets confiscated.”
Seizing the moment, Yu Youqing edged half a step closer to Jiang Musheng, whispering just off-camera, “Teacher Jiang, about the scarf you gave me.”
Yin Zi seemed to cling to this scarf as if her life depended on it. Suddenly inspired, she declared, “This was a gift from Sister Youqing!”
Yu Youqing: “?”
No, no! That’s not something you should say so casually!
“It’s true! Sister Youqing specifically told me that it’s cold in the snow and that this scarf is hard to come by, so I must wear it properly.” Yin Zi bounced over to Yu Youqing’s other side and hooked her arm. “Our Sister Youqing is so kind to me, worried I might catch cold, she even gave me this scarf. Of course I have to wear it.”
Yu Youqing’s first instinct was to glance at Jiang Musheng.
When she saw Jiang Musheng’s cool gaze sweep over the scarf and then linger on Yin Zi’s arm linked with hers.
She felt like a fish on the chopping block, getting “thunk, thunk” knocked on the head.
Chilled to the bone, not even a military coat could ward off that kind of cold.
