The Scandalous Actress Needs to Strive GL - Chapter 13
The car stopped downstairs. Yu Baishu took out the two suitcases from the trunk, just about to drag one with each hand, when Qiu Wan single handedly pulled one away. Yu Baishu moved her lips, silently giving a thumbs-up to the future CEO’s wife in her heart.
Being approachable was one thing, but the most important thing was knowing how to respect and be considerate. Such a quality was so rare in the entertainment industry. She had seen too many minor actors with a bit of fame being bossy toward staff, with that condescending look, lacking respect and losing their most basic moral conduct.
It was evident that after these two brief encounters, Qiu Wan was a rather good person. Some things were deep in the bone; those qualities of character would slowly settle with time and then gradually emerge. They couldn’t be faked or hidden. Such a person was clearly charming, and after getting along for a while, it was easy to develop a good impression.
Yu Baishu suddenly felt a little envious of her CEO, who had quietly won a beauty’s heart and brought her home early, without worrying about others snatching her away. It seemed like a pretty good deal.
If she knew that all of this originated from an accidental mishap, and the current result was entirely based on a contract, she probably wouldn’t think this way.
Watching Yu Baishu and Qiu Wan walk away one after the other, Zhou Lanlan emerged from the shadows of a nearby tree. She leaned on a streetlamp, her feet slightly numb from standing still for so long.
She had originally said goodbye to the director and was about to leave when she saw Yu Baishu, who usually followed Mu Qingchen around like a backdrop, stop her car. The car, originally heading home, turned straight here.
For Zhou Lanlan, the short half-hour felt like a century, until those two figures predictably appeared in her sight.
She had waited so long downstairs at Mu Qingchen’s building, waited so anxiously, only to finally get a cruel truth: that woman, that shameless woman, had actually entangled herself with Qingchen.
From the looks of it, the woman walked ahead, looking familiar with the place, probably having been here often, maybe even living here already. Sure enough, not long after, Yu Baishu drove away alone, and Qiu Wan was nowhere to be seen coming down for a long time.
As it was nearing midnight, the light in the room upstairs was still on. The streetlamp in front of the unit door shone coldly. Zhou Lanlan’s fingers gripped tighter and tighter, yet she seemed not to feel the pain.
Upstairs, Qiu Wan changed into a set of light blue pajamas after washing up. It was a suit style, but the neckline was much lower, and the cut was more casual and relaxed, making her look languid and seductive.
Our CEO Mu, meanwhile, stayed in the study, sometimes staring blankly at the computer, sometimes at her phone, until two hours later, when she pretended to finish her work and returned to the room.
“There’s only one bedroom, so…” The unspoken words were self-evident. Qiu Wan chuckled softly, lifted the quilt, and sat up. Her already loose pajamas became even looser. Whether intentional or not, she casually tugged at the neckline, and the already half-buttoned buttons came undone, revealing a clean, colorful collarbone and half of an alluring peak.
Mu Qingchen swallowed uncontrollably, feeling dry in her throat, her forehead and ears starting to burn. She awkwardly turned her head away: “It’s late autumn, be careful not to catch a cold.”
Although the room was warm, this woman was dressed too scantily. Those pajamas looked like only a thin layer, and were so loose and floppy. They definitely weren’t warm, unlike the one she was wearing, which was tight, close-fitting, and very warm.
Qiu Wan moved to one side and said meaningfully: “Doesn’t Qingchen think the room will heat up quickly?”
Mu Qingchen: “…”
She didn’t know how to respond, so she reached out and turned off the main light, leaving only a soft bedside lamp. Then, mimicking Qiu Wan, she sat on the bed. Just as she was about to lie down, she saw the person next to her reach out.
“Don’t rush to sleep, I still have something to consult you about.” Qiu Wan leaned in, wrapped an arm around Mu Qingchen’s waist, and rested her shoulder against her. The two nestled closely together by the headboard, like intimate lovers, whispering sweet nothings.
Mu Qingchen’s body stiffened. Although their bodies had shared a few unrestrained exchanges, she was still a little unaccustomed, probably due to her innate conservatism.
She pursed her lips, trying to relax, and then asked, “What is it?” If there was a problem, they should talk properly. Why get so close? The subtle and provocative sound of someone else’s breathing near her ear made Mu Qingchen silently grip the hem of her pajamas, subtly easing her own lengthy breaths.
“Today, the second young lady of Zhou’s Entertainment came to the set. She seems very displeased with me. According to the normal story development, when the film is released, my scenes should be cut, and then I’ll be targeted, hit walls everywhere, maybe even banned, until I beg her for mercy. So I’m wondering if there’s any need to sign the new contract with Mu’s tomorrow.”
The speaker’s tone was light and casual, as if discussing something insignificant, but the listener frowned tightly, a look of seriousness and a trace of almost imperceptible resistance flashing across her face, possibly because of the speaker or the person mentioned in the speech.
After speaking, Qiu Wan waited quietly, tilting her head to look at the person with the tightly furrowed brows under the dim yellow light. After a long silence, she sighed inwardly and reached out to stroke that beautiful brow.
Mu Qingchen instinctively flinched for a moment, but the evasive action vanished just as quickly. It was as if a small kitten about to flare up suddenly became obedient, passively allowing its brow to relax.
“Your scenes won’t be cut, and you don’t need to beg anyone for mercy. As long as you sign the contract, our Mu’s has the responsibility and obligation to handle these matters for you.”
Mu Qingchen thought about how to negotiate with the ‘Grand Historian of the Great Song’ crew tomorrow, even pre-imagining what she would warn Zhou Lanlan about. Her person no, Mu’s person no one could touch.
The voice was faint, an emotionless tone, yet Qiu Wan heard the protectiveness within it. She must have over-analyzed, automatically replacing “Mu’s” with “Mu Qingchen” in her heart, making the otherwise formulaic words sound extraordinarily pleasing.
“Then I’ll trouble Qingchen to take care of it. The serious business is over, is it time for something else to happen next?” The feeling of the finger cot last time was quite nice. This time, she wanted this cold and indifferent woman to experience it thoroughly as well.
Mu Qingchen straightened her back, her neck gently stroked by Qiu Wan’s fingers. She unconsciously swallowed. Indeed, just as this woman had said before, the room temperature was starting to burn.
The words “I’m tired” were right on her lips, but she held them back, her lips tightly pressed, unable to say them. She reached out and held Qiu Wan’s hand, which was gradually moving downward, blinked her eyes, and then silently let go, allowing the other party to proceed as she wished.
The half-sitting person slowly lay flat, her legs softly spread apart. Mu Qingchen heard her own heart pounding like a drum in her ears, and then closed her eyes. Her suspension bridge effect seemed to be too long, repeatedly losing control and regaining composure on the bridge, then losing control again.
Sensing Mu Qingchen’s cooperation and relaxation, Qiu Wan’s eyebrows slightly arched. At this moment, CEO Mu seemed as warm as the bedside lamp.
She suddenly turned sideways, half-leaning on the bedside table, and opened the drawer Mu Qingchen had pulled open last time. Just as she was about to grab two finger cots to use, she was stunned by the red, blue, green, and various other colored boxes in front of her. How many did she buy?!
Aloe? Mint?
Qiu Wan: “…”
She turned back to look at Mu Qingchen, whose eyes were tightly closed and eyelashes fluttering wildly. CEO Mu was truly capable of giving surprises. Since that was the case, how could she let down this surprise?
Mu Qingchen’s tightly pursed lips, initially held back in suppressed tolerance, finally couldn’t help but lightly part in a low moan. The person in the bed was tireless, and the bedside lamp stayed on all night.
The next day, after breakfast, Jin Wen arrived at the CEO’s office to wait. She finished a cup of coffee, but the person she was waiting for still hadn’t appeared. She glanced at Assistant Yu, whose face showed no unusual expression, and patiently waited without asking.
Yu Baishu checked her phone. It was a message from the CEO at around five in the morning: Morning meeting canceled.
She woke up and saw the message at seven in the morning, and then replied: Okay, CEO. I scheduled Jin Wen and Miss Qiu to sign the contract yesterday. What time will you arrive at the company?
Three hours passed; it was already ten in the morning, and their CEO Mu hadn’t replied with a single word.
Yu Baishu looked at Jin Wen, who was leisurely sipping coffee and waiting patiently, and wondered inwardly, Did the CEO forget about this? Logically, she shouldn’t have; this concerns Qiu Wan.
Could it be that the CEO and Qiu Wan were young and reckless last night and indulged too much? And only fell asleep at five this morning? So she didn’t forget, but hasn’t woken up yet, which is why she hasn’t seen the message?
Just as she was thinking, her phone received a reply from the CEO: Qiu Wan and I will be at the company in half an hour.
She breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed she had overthought things. The CEO wasn’t someone who was addicted to beauty, little did she know that the truth had just brushed past her.
Mu Qingchen’s apartment was near Mu’s Entertainment, only a ten-minute drive away. At this very moment, she was fully dressed, tilting her head back, letting Qiu Wan apply makeup, while she stated with a frosty face: “Don’t let it happen again.”
“As long as you don’t wipe it off, no one will notice,” Qiu Wan tidied her makeup, recalling the look Mu Qingchen gave her after looking in the mirror when she woke up; it could have frozen a person solid.
However, she’d have to be more careful next time. But who could blame her? This person’s self-control was too good, making one unable to resist lightly biting her neck to break that seductive restraint.
“Let’s go,” Mu Qingchen said concisely. Jin Wen was probably already waiting in the office. She was not a person who liked to be late, nor did she like to make her subordinates waste time waiting. Thinking of this, she glanced at the culprit again, a trace of helplessness and indulgence flashing in her eyes, and her eyebrows unconsciously furrowed slightly.
Qiu Wan: She was inexplicably stared at, causing CEO Mu to frown. How much dissatisfaction was this? She didn’t throw a tantrum when they were having fun last night. What a woman who crosses the river and demolishes the bridge.
