The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 40
“I am not at ease, Wenzhi.”
Song Wenzhi had taken a leave of absence. She planned to spend this heat cycle in the faculty apartments, but while she was changing her scent-blocking patches at home, she remembered a previous incident where her pheromones had leaked out of the room and affected other teachers.
The doors in the faculty apartments were already semi-isolated for pheromones; under normal circumstances, an Omega in heat would not leak pheromones to the outside. However, back then, Song Wenzhi’s heat had been accompanied by an explosive pheromone disorder. Unlike ordinary Omegas, she required a fully isolated door to ensure her pheromones wouldn’t spill out and affect others.
Such disordered situations were very rare, and Song Wenzhi had only encountered them once. However, Xia Weichi’s concerns from a few days ago had truly affected her. Xia Weichi’s warnings kept echoing in her mind, and Song Wenzhi couldn’t help but feel a few sparks of uncertainty in her heart.
Song Wenzhi’s pheromones carried a sense of dependency. If Yu Kunian could not guarantee being with her every moment during this heat cycle, there was a high possibility that the previous situation would occur again. Therefore, after changing her blocking patch, the Omega hesitated repeatedly before finally calling Yu Kunian.
Yu Kunian answered very quickly. “Zhizhi, is your heat starting?”
Song Wenzhi nodded and gave a soft “Mm.”
“I’ve taken my leave. I haven’t fully entered the heat cycle yet; the pheromones are just starting to leak out.”
“I’m coming to find you.” On the other end, Yu Kunian immediately stood up, grabbing her coat from the side, ready to leave.
Song Wenzhi hesitated, “Yu Kunian.”
“Zhizhi, what’s wrong?” Yu Kunian had recently received a lot of materials regarding Omega heat cycles from Xia Weichi. “Are you feeling uncomfortable?”
“No.” Song Wenzhi lowered her eyes, remaining silent for a moment before saying, “Yu Kunian, is the door installed at your home the fully pheromone-isolated type?”
Yu Kunian replied, “Yes.” She hadn’t expected Song Wenzhi to ask this and was stunned for a moment before realizing something. “Is the apartment door semi-isolated?”
In fact, most homes in Lihua City were installed with semi-isolated doors. After all, fully isolated doors were expensive and usually only installed by wealthy families. Semi-isolation was sufficient for normal use, so Lihua University naturally wouldn’t spend a large sum of money on fully isolated ones. When Yu Kunian had renovated her place, she had hired a designer, and almost everything in the house was top-tier.
Song Wenzhi responded, “Yes.”
As Yu Kunian walked out, she furrowed her brows. “I am not at ease, Zhizhi. Come to my house to spend this heat cycle, alright?”
Lihua University did not allow outsiders to stay overnight. Yu Kunian had originally felt that she wouldn’t be able to take care of Song Wenzhi at night and had been worrying. Now, because of the apartment door, she ultimately wanted Song Wenzhi to stay at her place for a few days.
It would be convenient for her to take care of her, and nothing would go wrong; otherwise, she probably wouldn’t be able to sleep well at night.
Song Wenzhi was also startled. The request she hadn’t had time to voice had been spoken by Yu Kunian first. The Omega bit her lip nervously before asking, “Is it convenient?”
Yu Kunian had already reached the parking lot. She replied immediately, “Zhizhi, as long as it’s you, nothing is inconvenient. If you stay in the apartment, I will worry. So come to my place, okay?”
Song Wenzhi nodded. “Okay.”
Yu Kunian said instantly, “I’ll pick you up. Wait for me.”
Song Wenzhi gave an affirmative sound and then hung up the phone. She felt her pheromones were already becoming slightly impossible to block with the patch. Looking down to sniff her sleeve, the sweet scent of coconut candy lingered at the tip of her nose.
Fortunately, it wasn’t very obvious; at least a meter away, it couldn’t be smelled.
The Omega felt slightly relieved. Her condition was temporarily normal, so she immediately went to grab a few pieces of clothing to wear at Yu Kunian’s house. After a while, Yu Kunian sent a message saying she had already bought some daily necessities and Song Wenzhi didn’t need to bring much. Thus, the Omega’s suitcase wasn’t very full, though she still brought extra suppressants.
It wasn’t rushing hour, so Yu Kunian drove over quickly. Song Wenzhi waited at the school gate for a few minutes before the Alpha arrived. As she took the Omega’s suitcase, Yu Kunian caught a whiff of that pleasant coconut candy scent.
Yu Kunian asked, “Do you feel any discomfort?”
Song Wenzhi said, “No.”
This heat cycle was quite different from previous ones. Rationally, once the blocking patch failed to contain her pheromones, she should have started feeling miserable. But until now, she seemed fine.
Yu Kunian felt relieved. She got back into the driver’s seat and confirmed Song Wenzhi’s status again before starting the car.
Song Wenzhi’s emotions remained calm. She was somewhat surprised by this; she hadn’t expected that having an Alpha’s pheromones would cause such a significant change in her heat cycle. She didn’t feel the irritability or anxiety that usually came with her heat; she just felt somewhat drowsy.
Inside the underground parking lot of Yu Kunian’s residential complex, Song Wenzhi was resting with her eyes closed and her head tilted to the side. Yu Kunian parked the car and unbuckled Song Wenzhi’s seatbelt before softly waking the Omega. Song Wenzhi opened her eyes drowzily, realizing she had fallen asleep. As Yu Kunian got out and opened the car door for her, Song Wenzhi’s consciousness gradually returned.
Yu Kunian took her hand. She didn’t sense the pheromones getting any stronger, but she still quickened her pace, taking the elevator upstairs with Song Wenzhi. Once they reached the front door, Yu Kunian carried the necessities she had bought in advance inside.
Everything was placed in the living room. Yu Kunian looked down at Song Wenzhi. “Zhizhi, are you very sleepy?”
Song Wenzhi nodded. “I want to sleep.” She suddenly felt a wave of sleepiness hit her, her eyelids feeling heavy.
Yu Kunian then took her to her own bedroom. Because the decision was so sudden, none of the other guest rooms had been tidied up, so the Alpha had to let the Omega settle for sleeping in her room for now.
Yu Kunian pulled the curtains, making the bedroom a bit darker. After Song Wenzhi was lying comfortably in bed, the Alpha’s fingertips gently brushed against the Omega’s forehead for a moment. She whispered, “Sleep peacefully, Zhizhi.”
Before she slept, Yu Kunian removed the blocking patch from Song Wenzhi’s gland.
Yu Kunian closed the bedroom door and walked out to the living room to unpack the items she had bought, placing them where they belonged.
The house was extremely quiet. Yu Kunian moved very quietly, occasionally glancing at the tightly closed door of her bedroom. Thinking of Song Wenzhi, her gaze was incredibly soft.
This kind of simplicity brought a great sense of peace.
Yu Kunian handled company affairs on the sofa. A few hours later, the Alpha smelled a thick scent of coconut candy diffusing out from the crack beneath her bedroom door.
