The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 39
She feared she wasn’t good enough; she feared she wasn’t worthy.
Song Wenzhi hadn’t expected to run into Yu Kunian while accompanying Xia Weichi, let alone witness an intimate scene between the Alpha and a strange girl.
Xia Weichi’s original smile froze instantly. Her gaze transmitted a sharp, scrutinizing stare through her lenses. Unfortunately, Yu Kunian’s expression was mostly obscured by the girl, leaving only one of her eyes visible; she had no way of judging whether Yu Kunian was enjoying the interaction.
Song Wenzhi didn’t intend to go inside. She simply watched quietly from the outside until the girl was pulled away, and only then did Song Wenzhi catch a glimpse of Yu Kunian’s expression.
Impatient, frowning, and looking quite grim.
Song Wenzhi actually breathed a sigh of relief.
Even though she hadn’t doubted Yu Kunian from the start, her heart had still tightened because of that image. She knew that Yu Kunian was always so popular, and the number of Omegas who admired her was countless.
Song Wenzhi was still afraid.
Afraid she wasn’t good enough; afraid she wasn’t worthy.
It took only a second for such a thought to sprout and permeate her every consciousness. Song Wenzhi gazed at Yu Kunian from a distance, not even daring to look away for fear of missing something.
She also cast a glance at the girl who had run out in a huff.
Shen Qi, chasing from behind, grabbed Li Ci’s hand again. Her voice was neither loud nor soft, but it fell perfectly into Song Wenzhi’s ears: “What do you even like about that Alpha? Li Ci, do you have to be this humble? You are the dignified heiress of the Li Group; how can you throw yourself at her like this?”
Li Ci only replied: “I like her, what right do you have to care?” After speaking, she let out a cold snort and walked away quickly, passing by them in a hurry.
Song Wenzhi withdrew her gaze, but her fingertips unintentionally dug into her palms, as if she felt no pain at all.
One didn’t need to think to realize that Li Ci had a significant background, yet she liked Yu Kunian enough to disregard everything. Song Wenzhi knew the gap between herself and Yu Kunian, but this was the first time she had seen with her own eyes that the Omegas who liked Yu Kunian held such unattainable status.
A wave of indescribable heaviness flooded her heart, making it difficult for Song Wenzhi to breathe. She lowered her eyes, her breathing quickening slightly, until Yu Kunian’s voice rang out.
“Zhizhi!” Yu Kunian took her hand, and the tightly clenched fingertips relaxed in an instant.
Song Wenzhi subconsciously looked up. Yu Kunian had approached her at some unknown point and had noticed her distress.
“Zhizhi, what’s wrong?” Yu Kunian leaned closer to her, asking with concern.
Xia Weichi also gripped Song Wenzhi’s arm. “Xiao Zhi?”
The Omega shook her head gently. “I’m fine.”
Xia Weichi observed her condition, her brow furrowed throughout. Yu Kunian held Song Wenzhi’s hand and explained: “That girl is Li Ci from the Li Group. She came to talk to me about a partnership. What you saw just now was an accident, truly.”
Yu Kunian didn’t know how to describe the matter between Li Ci and Shen Qi; after all, she didn’t understand it either.
Song Wenzhi said: “I believe you, Yu Kunian. Don’t worry, I didn’t misunderstand.”
She just felt a sense of urgency rising within her. The Omega, in a rare moment of irrationality, wanted Yu Kunian to belong entirely to her. She wanted everyone to know that this Yu Kunian already had an Omega.
Only then did Yu Kunian breathe a sigh of relief, but Song Wenzhi’s state was still not very good. She could only look toward the only doctor among them.
Xia Weichi hesitated for a moment. Although she had developed some prejudice against Yu Kunian because of what just happened, she still asked Song Wenzhi softly: “Xiao Zhi, is your heat cycle approaching?”
Fortunately, the heat was not today, and there was no pheromone leakage. Song Wenzhi thought about it for a moment, then turned to meet Xia Weichi’s gaze and said, “Yes, soon.”
No matter how reluctant she was, Xia Weichi could only say to Yu Kunian: “President Yu, since Xiao Zhi is no longer single, as her Alpha, you need to accompany her during her heat. Please allow me to offer a suggestion as a doctor: no matter how busy work is, do not ignore your Omega partner.”
During previous heats, Song Wenzhi could only endure by relying on suppressants. The pain of her heat was naturally much more severe than a normal loss of pheromone control, so Xia Weichi hoped Yu Kunian could make time to accompany her.
Yu Kunian’s pheromones would have a great soothing effect on Song Wenzhi, and her pain would be greatly reduced.
Yu Kunian reassured her: “I will take good care of Zhizhi.”
Xia Weichi would never allow Yu Kunian to fail in caring for Song Wenzhi. No matter what, she would supervise Yu Kunian meticulously.
Song Wenzhi regained her composure. She suppressed all the thoughts in her heart, feeling the warmth from Yu Kunian’s palm, and asked: “Did the partnership go smoothly?”
“Barely smoothly,” Yu Kunian said. The company’s business was safe for the time being. “You’ve been out all morning, are you tired? Have you had lunch?”
Song Wenzhi shook her head. “I’m not tired—Weichi, are you hungry?”
They happened to be in front of a restaurant. Since Yu Kunian hadn’t had lunch yet either, they decided to eat together. Yu Kunian had no objection, and Xia Weichi gave Yu Kunian a few glares before finally nodding as well.
Yu Kunian’s schedule wouldn’t be completely free until five or six in the evening. Aside from attending classes, Song Wenzhi spent her time with Xia Weichi purchasing some essentials. Once Yu Kunian was free, they would go on dates.
A few days before Song Wenzhi’s heat, Xia Weichi had to participate in a testing session related to CPP technology. During this period, she could not come and go as she pleased, as all test results had to be kept confidential until the final outcome was released.
Therefore, Xia Weichi warned Song Wenzhi in advance. Her words were filled with distrust toward Yu Kunian, always worrying that an emergency would arise. Xia Weichi had always felt that Yu Kunian was the type of Alpha who would prioritize work and abandon Song Wenzhi, so her evaluation of Yu Kunian always boiled down to three words:
Unreliable.
Nevertheless, Yu Kunian’s pheromones were useful. Even if she was unreliable, she had to place some hope in her.
Song Wenzhi was caught between laughter and tears by Xia Weichi’s worrying, but she still agreed to everything, hoping that no accidents would truly occur. The Omega felt that even though it was her own heat, Xia Weichi seemed more anxious than she was. She could only comfort Xia Weichi, saying it was just a regular heat cycle.
As a doctor, Xia Weichi was very concerned that this heat might develop an increased dependency due to Yu Kunian’s pheromones. If Yu Kunian’s pheromones were suddenly withdrawn by accident, Song Wenzhi would experience unprecedented symptoms.
Being told this, Song Wenzhi couldn’t help but overthink as well, so she prepared more suppressants. The Omega’s heat made both Alphas quite nervous. Yu Kunian had no experience with this; she asked Song Wenzhi many times every day until this Saturday, when Song Wenzhi’s heat finally arrived.
