The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 34
“Yu Kunian, I will go with you.”
Song Wenzhi paused for a moment. “Why do you ask that? Do you have plans to go abroad?”
Yu Kunian swallowed the pill in her mouth. “Maybe I do, but maybe I don’t. I just wanted to know what you thought.”
Song Wenzhi thought about it seriously before answering, “I’m not thinking about going abroad for the time being. I still have matters to handle here.”
Yu Kunian thought of Song Wenzhi’s debts, but since Song Wenzhi hadn’t mentioned them yet, she could only pretend not to know for now. “If everything is finished, can you accompany me?”
Yu Kunian wasn’t joking. It was a sudden thought, but her casual words carried a certain weight of sincerity. To leave together. Yu Kunian had thought about leaving long ago; now, she wanted to do it with Song Wenzhi.
The air in Lihua City was very humid. Having lived here for over twenty years, Yu Kunian had completely adapted to the climate. Even during the time she spent in Yin City, her skin would become very dry and uncomfortable because she wasn’t used to it. However, Yu Kunian always knew that one day she would leave this place, break these habits, and break free from all constraints.
She included Song Wenzhi in her decision. She hoped Song Wenzhi would come with her.
Song Wenzhi looked at her, and after pondering for a moment, said, “Yu Kunian, I will go with you.”
Yu Kunian smiled. “Good.”
As long as she had those words, it was enough. Although Song Wenzhi didn’t know why Yu Kunian was asking this, she didn’t hesitate. She truly wanted to be with Yu Kunian.
“Did something happen?” That question was clearly a bit unusual, especially right after the phone call with Yu Sheng had ended.
Yu Kunian shook her head. She leaned closer to Song Wenzhi and reached out to wrap her arms around the Omega’s waist. “I thought before that if I were no longer the CEO of Zhaoming Biotech, I would want to settle abroad.”
Song Wenzhi asked, “Then what would happen to Zhaoming Biotech?”
Yu Kunian said, “Someone would replace me, if such a day comes. However, it also depends on how the new product performs this time. If things go smoothly, I won’t hand my company over to others.”
Song Wenzhi knew the importance of this new product, but she hadn’t expected it to reach the level of affecting whether Yu Kunian remained “CEO Yu.” The Omega didn’t understand the intricacies of corporate operations, but she felt as though something had happened that made Yu Kunian reach a final decision to let go of Zhaoming Biotech.
“Yu Kunian, you—” Song Wenzhi felt strange. She wanted to comfort Yu Kunian, but before she could finish, the Alpha interrupted her.
“Zhizhi,” Yu Kunian spoke, taking Song Wenzhi’s fingertips in hers. Her eyes curved into a smile as she said, “My younger sister, Yu Sheng—when she returns, I’ll bring her to meet you. She is also an Omega.”
Song Wenzhi was stunned for a moment before following Yu Kunian’s lead. “Okay—but it seems I’ve never heard you mention having a sister before.”
Song Wenzhi had followed news and various reports about Yu Kunian for a long time, but she had never seen Yu Sheng’s name.
Yu Kunian nodded and said, “She didn’t grow up with us. She was raised by my aunt, Yang Yu. She isn’t often in Lihua City, so it’s normal that you haven’t heard of her.”
The relationship between Yu Kunian and Yu Sheng was decent. Because they hadn’t lived together since childhood, they weren’t particularly close, but they kept in touch frequently and occasionally had video chats.
Yang Yu’s method of raising a child was very hands-off. Because her profession was acting, Yu Sheng often had to take care of herself or follow Yang Yu around everywhere; in short, her lifestyle was hard to describe.
Yu Sheng’s differentiation happened later than others. Yu Dai and Yang Jin had wanted to bring Yu Sheng back to Lihua City before, but because of the delayed differentiation, Yang Yu refused, saying she wanted to take Yu Sheng to see doctors elsewhere. Later, even after Yu Sheng differentiated into an Omega, she never said she wanted to come to Lihua City to live with them; Yang Yu would just make time to bring Yu Sheng for a short stay every year.
Yu Kunian didn’t know the specific reasons, but Yu Dai and Yang Jin never mentioned bringing Yu Sheng back again. Later, when Yu Sheng went to university, the opportunities to return became even rarer. Yang Yu didn’t bother much anymore either, and for those years, Yu Sheng basically lived alone.
Song Wenzhi understood; in that case, there really wouldn’t be much opportunity to know about Yu Sheng.
Holding Song Wenzhi, Yu Kunian returned to sit in the living room. She didn’t feel as miserable as she had in the morning. She checked the time and said to Song Wenzhi, “You have class this afternoon. I’ll see you off in a bit.”
“It rained yesterday and the temperature dropped today. No need to see me off; be careful not to catch another cold.” Song Wenzhi had felt the chill when she arrived. If Yu Kunian made a special trip to see her out, her symptoms—which had just slightly improved—might flare up again.
Yu Kunian didn’t persist. “I’ll walk you downstairs and call a car for you. Don’t you catch a cold either.”
Song Wenzhi turned to meet Yu Kunian’s gaze. After nodding, she added, “Yu Kunian, Zhaoming Biotech’s new product will be successful in attracting investment.”
After thinking it over, this was the only way Song Wenzhi knew how to comfort her. The Alpha was clearly stunned for a moment upon hearing this, and then she pulled Song Wenzhi even closer, the smile on her lips deepening as she said, “I’ll take those auspicious words to heart, Zhizhi.”
Song Wenzhi wanted the best for her without reservation; Yu Kunian could see that. She rubbed the Omega’s knuckles, lowered her eyes, and lifted the hand to gently press a kiss to it. “Zhizhi, I’m very happy to have you with me today.”
Song Wenzhi gripped her hand tightly. “Yu Kunian, you are important.”
Yu Kunian’s eyes softened. She drew the Omega close and, under Song Wenzhi’s gaze and permission, pressed her thin lips against Song Wenzhi’s neck. The Alpha kissed her neck and earlobe with movements that were gentle and intimate.
The Omega was wearing a pair of simple hoop earrings today, which swayed due to Yu Kunian’s kissing. The Alpha raised her hand to brush against her ear and, unable to restrain herself, rubbed her fingertip against the cool surface of the earring.
All the accessories Song Wenzhi wore, no matter how ordinary they might look on their own, always appeared beautiful on the Omega—as if they were custom-made for her.
The Omega’s ears undoubtedly began to burn from Yu Kunian’s actions. The Alpha’s soft chuckle felt like a feather brushing against Song Wenzhi’s heart, inevitably stirring a sense of restlessness.
Song Wenzhi’s fingertips curled into her palm. She waited for Yu Kunian to pull back before unconsciously averting her gaze and saying with a flushed face, “I have to go.”
Yu Kunian interlaced their fingers, turned to grab a coat to put on, and then headed out the door with Song Wenzhi.
In the elevator, Song Wenzhi remembered to remind her to take her medicine properly and eat dinner on time. Yu Kunian agreed to everything; she would certainly listen to Song Wenzhi.
Watching Song Wenzhi get into the car, Yu Kunian waved and stood there until the silhouette of the vehicle vanished before turning to go back inside. The Alpha had shed yesterday’s gloomy mood; she now wore a smile on her face, solely because of Song Wenzhi.
Returning home, the living room still held the scent of Song Wenzhi’s pheromones. Yu Kunian felt a sense of longing as she sensed that addictive coconut candy scent; she was hopelessly deep in it.
This mood persisted. Even when Yu Kunian held a remote meeting with the company project team in the afternoon, her tone was surprisingly pleasant, causing the employees to be struck with bewilderment. Even when there was an error in the project data, Yu Kunian merely told them to take it back and redo it without a single word of reprimand.
The employees of Zhaoming Biotech reached a unanimous guess: something good must have happened to CEO Yu today.
Yu Kunian didn’t think it was strange. Regardless, she was always different whenever she faced Song Wenzhi.
When she took her medicine in the afternoon, Yu Kunian specifically took a photo to send to Song Wenzhi to put her mind at ease. She even took a photo before eating dinner, informing her Omega of almost every detail.
Yu Kunian didn’t know if this was how being in love was supposed to be; she just wanted to do it.
When Jiang Qiu’s call came through, Yu Kunian had just finished sending a photo to Song Wenzhi. The first words out of her mouth were naturally tinged with a smile, which quite surprised Jiang Qiu.
“I see, CEO Yu’s ‘good news’ must be approaching.” Jiang Qiu guessed instantly that Yu Kunian was like this because of Song Wenzhi. “Your plan is only one step away from the end. It looks like it won’t be long now.”
“Not that fast.” Yu Kunian also knew that Song Wenzhi’s choice would be very cautious. Proposing marriage now would actually be a bit rushed; she was still looking for the right opportunity.
Jiang Qiu was dismissive of that concern, but Yu Kunian didn’t give her a chance to discuss it further, asking instead why she had called.
“The things you asked me to handle are all set, and I’ve spoken with Cheng Lu’s side,” Jiang Qiu said. “Also, it looks like I won’t be able to come back for a while.”
While eating, Yu Kunian asked, “Why?”
“My fiancée—Wen Yan’s family has some thorny issues that need handling. I plan to bring her back for the engagement ceremony right after I finish dealing with it, the sooner the better.”
Yu Kunian: “In such a hurry?”
Jiang Qiu sighed. “It’s hard to explain in a few words. Anyway, Wen Yan’s situation is difficult, and things aren’t great at her home. I figured since I’m about to become her Alpha, I have an obligation to take her away as soon as possible. However, I’ll tell you the specifics after I get back to Lihua City.”
“Alright,” Yu Kunian responded.
“I’ve agreed with Wen Yan that we’ll cultivate our feelings after the engagement. Before we thoroughly understand each other, we won’t live together. So Kunian, I need you to do me a favor and find a place for Wen Yan to stay first. It needs to be close to where I live. Put it on my tab.”
Yu Kunian: “Understood. I’ll find some time to look at houses for you.”
Jiang Qiu thanked her. Yu Kunian then heard another female voice on Jiang Qiu’s end; it was a gentle and soft tone, perhaps even a bit quiet. That should be the Omega, Wen Yan.
After Jiang Qiu said something, Wen Yan took the phone to greet Yu Kunian. Shortly after, Jiang Qiu mentioned she had a banquet to attend and ended the call without further chat.
Originally, Yu Kunian had intended for Jiang Qiu to accompany her to the investment fair, thinking Jiang Qiu might offer some advice. Now that Jiang Qiu couldn’t return for the time being, Yu Kunian would have to handle it alone.
