The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 33
“Girlfriend—Song Wenzhi is my girlfriend.”
Song Wenzhi’s breath hitched, but she subconsciously released her pheromones.
The brief, feather-light kiss sent a slight tremor through the Omega’s heart. Song Wenzhi lowered her gaze to look at Yu Kunian, who, after the kiss, buried her forehead into the crook of Song Wenzhi’s neck. The hands around her waist tightened slightly as the Alpha leaned into the Omega’s embrace with total reliance, following an instinctual urge to be close.
The scent of coconut candy was so near that Yu Kunian’s fingers curled, instinctively craving an even tighter embrace.
By the time Song Wenzhi regained her composure, Yu Kunian was pressed against her with almost no space between them. Her shoulder felt heavy from the weight of the Alpha leaning on her. The Omega did not feel any rejection; her hand hovered in the air for a long moment of hesitation before finally coming to rest on Yu Kunian’s back.
Neither of them spoke. In the silence, they could clearly hear each other’s breathing. After a moment, Song Wenzhi began to withdraw her pheromones, but she heard Yu Kunian speak again: “I need them, Zhizhi.”
It seemed as though Yu Kunian had become addicted to the scent of Song Wenzhi’s pheromones.
Song Wenzhi said, “You need to take a nap. Pheromones will affect your sleep.”
Yu Kunian shook her head. “They won’t.”
They were so close that even a tiny number of pheromones was enough to put Yu Kunian at ease. Although she hadn’t felt sleepy after her morning rest, being soothed by the Omega’s pheromones caused her to yawn and slowly close her eyes.
Song Wenzhi’s gaze fell softly upon Yu Kunian’s cheek. It was a rare opportunity for her to observe the Alpha like this. She scanned downward from Yu Kunian’s brow; in this quiet state, her face revealed a bit of its original sharp contour.
Looking at the Alpha this way, Song Wenzhi found it difficult to believe this was real. She would occasionally lapse into a daze, only to realize that Yu Kunian was truly with her. Song Wenzhi cherished every moment spent with the Alpha; what she once never dared to imagine had become a reality, filling her with unprecedented joy.
Song Wenzhi had thought she would always be the one looking up at Yu Kunian, but she never expected Yu Kunian would be the first to lower her head toward her.
The Omega raised her fingertip, stopping it half an inch away from the tip of Yu Kunian’s nose. She traced the Alpha’s features through the air, the blurry shadow of her finger lingering on Yu Kunian’s chin for a long time.
The Alpha seemed to have fallen asleep; the hand resting on Song Wenzhi’s waist had slipped down. Her breath fell faintly against Song Wenzhi’s shoulder, and the Omega could hear her own quickening heartbeat.
Even this simple silence made Song Wenzhi feel wonderful. She could never tire of looking at Yu Kunian.
With very gentle movements, Song Wenzhi tucked a stray lock of hair behind Yu Kunian’s ear, her eyes lowered with a look of contentment. The scent of coconut candy was very mild, easing the discomfort Yu Kunian felt from her cold and allowing her to let go of all emotions to finally fall into a comfortable sleep.
The Omega stayed by her side. Even in her dreams, the Alpha did not seem to forget her desire to be close to Song Wenzhi, repeatedly pressing closer into her embrace. This nap was almost excessively heart-stirring; today’s intimate touches were something she would never forget.
About forty minutes later, Song Wenzhi checked the temperature of Yu Kunian’s forehead again. Just as she was preparing to wake her, she was interrupted by the sudden ringing of a phone.
Song Wenzhi turned to look. Yu Kunian’s phone on the coffee table was lit up, with the caller ID displaying “Yu Sheng.” Song Wenzhi reached out to take the phone and called Yu Kunian’s name, but the Alpha hadn’t fully woken up yet. Hearing the voice, she subconsciously pulled the Omega into her arms and asked in a lazy voice:
“What is it?”
Song Wenzhi whispered into her ear, “Yu Kunian, someone is calling you.”
Yu Kunian opened her eyes, her vision not yet focused, and her voice was a bit blurry: “Zhizhi, you answer it for me.”
After saying that, the Alpha closed her eyes again, bowing her head as if to continue her nap.
Song Wenzhi answered the call, and a female voice came through the receiver: “Sister, why did it take you so long to answer?”
Song Wenzhi froze. She didn’t speak, but pulled the phone away to look at the caller ID again before saying, “Hello, Yu Kunian is sleeping; she hasn’t woken up yet.”
The other side was silent for a moment before asking, “Who are you?”
“I am Song Wenzhi,” she introduced herself.
“I am Yu Kunian’s…” She hesitated on how to describe herself. Yu Kunian, half-awake, grabbed her wrist and pulled it down. The phone moved closer to the Alpha, and Yu Kunian finished the sentence for her:
“Girlfriend—Song Wenzhi is my girlfriend.”
Song Wenzhi looked at Yu Kunian, her heart stirred. Her wrist was still held firmly by the warm palm of Yu Kunian’s hand. The voice sounded again in the receiver:
“Sister, you’re actually in a relationship.” Yu Sheng expressed her surprise; she had originally thought what Yang Jin told her was a lie, but it turned out to be true. Having said that, she then introduced herself to Song Wenzhi: “Hello, Sister Song Wenzhi. I am Yu Sheng, Yu Kunian’s younger sister. Her biological one.”
It wasn’t that Yu Sheng was being redundant by emphasizing she was the “biological sister,” but rather that most people didn’t even know Yu Kunian had a sister. She had never lived in Lihua City, and Yu Dai and Yang Jin rarely spoke of her to outsiders, which had led to several misunderstandings in the past.
Song Wenzhi nodded in response. Yu Sheng then said, “Is it convenient for my sister to take the call? There are some family matters to discuss.”
“Okay, please wait a moment.” Song Wenzhi indeed could not interfere with the Yu family’s private business yet, so she placed the phone against Yu Kunian’s ear and softly told her to wake up.
Yu Kunian woke up. She was just a little tired. After regaining her senses and fully opening her eyes, she held the phone steadily, sat up, and put her arm around Song Wenzhi’s shoulder before saying, “What’s the matter?”
Song Wenzhi patted Yu Kunian’s hand. Before Yu Kunian could react, she got up from the sofa, picked up the hot water she had poured earlier, and signaled to Yu Kunian that the water had gone cold and she was going to pour a fresh cup.
She knew her boundaries and would not intentionally listen to Yu Kunian’s family matters.
Yu Kunian watched Song Wenzhi’s retreating back. Before Yu Sheng could speak, she asked, “Did Mother ask you to find me?”
Yu Sheng was surprised: “Sister, how did you know?”
Yu Kunian could naturally guess. She had argued with the family yesterday and hadn’t gone to the company today. Yu Dai and Yang Jin wanted to know why, but since Yu Kunian certainly wouldn’t pay them any mind right now, they could only send Yu Sheng.
It had been like this every time before.
Yu Sheng rarely contacted her by phone; usually, they just exchanged a few messages. This was the only time she would call.
“Stop worrying about my business. Whatever they ask, just say you don’t know,” Yu Kunian said.
Yu Sheng said, “I told them that, but Mother insisted I ask you. I had no choice. Sister, are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“I heard from Mother about the reporting incident. Is the reason you don’t want the arranged marriage because of that Sister Song Wenzhi from just now?”
Yu Kunian looked at Song Wenzhi’s back. She paused for a moment before answering, “Yes. I will only marry her.”
“Then you should talk it over properly with Mother; arguing doesn’t do any good,” Yu Sheng understood, though she felt the argument this time was a bit too intense. “Besides, Sister, the angry words you said… Mother and Father took them seriously.”
“Which ones?”
“You said if they kept trying to control you like that, you would give up Zhaoming Biotech.” This was what Yang Jin had told her. Yu Sheng’s voice carried a hint of subtle probing.
Yu Kunian’s eyes darkened slightly. A flash of “as expected” crossed her gaze. Her fingertip tapped lightly on the sofa. After a brief silence on the phone, the Alpha said, “They weren’t angry words.”
“Sister, this…”
“So what if they took it seriously? They’ll forget about it in a while anyway.” Yu Kunian added unhurriedly, “If any so-called marriage partners appear again before Zhizhi and I are married, I will do exactly what I said.”
Since Yu Dai was using the future of Zhaoming Biotech to bind her, she might as well return the company entirely, leaving Yu Dai and Yang Jin speechless. She did indeed cherish Zhaoming Biotech, but it could not be allowed to become a bargaining chip for Yu Dai to threaten her with. If it came down to it, she would let go completely to end the trouble once and for all.
She had a way out.
Perhaps it was Yu Kunian’s words that shocked Yu Sheng again; she hadn’t expected Song Wenzhi to hold such a high position in Yu Kunian’s heart—enough to even consider giving up the company.
“But Mother and the others don’t seem very satisfied with your Omega. Will they allow you to get married?”
“I don’t need their permission to get married.” Yu Kunian never felt that Yu Dai and Yang Jin could influence her marriage to Song Wenzhi. Having said that, she changed the subject: “Don’t worry about me. Aren’t you partnering with a friend on a business venture? Are you not busy lately?”
Yu Sheng replied, “It’s alright. Just a small business, not as many operations as your company, Sister.”
Yu Kunian chuckled. “It’s just that the demand is wide. Learn how to manage a business well. Who knows, maybe one day Zhaoming Biotech will need you to take over.”
Yu Sheng said, “Sister, don’t tease me. How could Mother really force you to give up the company?”
Yu Kunian said with absolute certainty: “I think she will.”
Those four words left Yu Sheng silent. She pondered the meaning behind that sentence, unsure of what to think. Yu Kunian’s expression also became more serious; Yu Sheng was completely unaware that Yu Kunian seemed to be subtly guiding her.
Everything Yu Kunian said today was to signal that Zhaoming Biotech was already becoming uncontrollable for her, and that Yu Dai and Yang Jin even had intentions in that direction. If that day truly came and Yu Kunian let go of the company, Yu Dai would naturally choose someone else to fill that void, and Yu Sheng was the most likely candidate.
However, whether Zhaoming Biotech was truly out of Yu Kunian’s control was unknown to anyone. At least for now, many of the company’s projects were proceeding steadily, even if the massive capital flow into new projects made it look like Yu Kunian was putting all her eggs in one basket.
Yu Kunian said no more. She hung up the phone, her expression returning to normal. She stood up and walked toward Song Wenzhi, the corners of her lips curving upward. Song Wenzhi sensed her approach and turned around, handing the medicine and water to Yu Kunian.
Before taking the medicine, Yu Kunian asked Song Wenzhi casually, “Zhizhi, if we were to live abroad in the future, would you be willing?”
