The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 31
“Yu Kunian, you are more important.”
Yu Kunian was first startled, and then asked with a pleasant surprise, “You’re coming to see me?”
Even she hadn’t noticed that her mood had improved significantly because of Song Wenzhi’s words; the haze in her eyes had slightly dissipated. The Alpha heard Song Wenzhi ask, “Is there someone already looking after you?”
Yu Kunian shook her head quickly. “No.”
Song Wenzhi gave an “Mhm” in response. “Then I will come to take care of you.”
An involuntary smile tugged at the corners of Yu Kunian’s lips. She asked, “Wenzhi, will it delay your schedule?”
Song Wenzhi was silent for a moment. She seemed to be packing her things. Yu Kunian thought the Omega was checking her arrangements for the day, but she didn’t expect Song Wenzhi to say: “Yu Kunian, you are more important.”
Yu Kunian had never imagined she would hear someone say such a thing to her.
Last night, she was still sinking into self-doubt due to her distress, yet today she received a declaration of “importance” from the Omega. Yu Kunian couldn’t describe her feelings at this moment; she only knew her heart skipped a beat. The Omega’s words echoed in her ears—astonishment, joy, and the feeling of being validated—a swirl of emotions that refused to fade.
For the first time, the Alpha lost herself in a single sentence for a long time. For a moment, she was at a loss, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Perhaps because of her illness, her sensibility outweighed her logic.
At this very second, Yu Kunian felt that if she were to marry Song Wenzhi, it would certainly not be like Yu Dai and Yang Jin. Not that tragic.
Yu Kunian smiled and asked again, “What if I pass my cold on to you?”
“I’ll wear a mask,” Song Wenzhi answered patiently. After reflecting for a bit, she stopped her movements and asked, “Yu Kunian, do you not want me to come see you?”
“I do. Wenzhi, I want you to come.” Yu Kunian spoke without hesitation. Her head still ached terribly, but regarding this thought, the Alpha was incredibly clear.
Song Wenzhi: “I’m preparing to leave campus now. You can take a nap first. Yu Kunian, stop working.”
Presumably, the notification sounds from Yu Kunian’s computer, which had been chiming one after another, were caught by Song Wenzhi, leading the Omega to add that sentence at the end. Yu Kunian’s eyes curved into crescents as she reached out to close her laptop. “Will I see you when I wake up?”
Yu Kunian sent her house passcode and detailed address to Song Wenzhi.
“If nothing goes wrong,” Song Wenzhi’s lips also curved because of the smile-tinged voice coming through the receiver, “I will wake you up.”
Yu Kunian lay on the sofa contentedly, so that Song Wenzhi would see her as soon as she entered the door without having to go to the bedroom. After hanging up, Yu Kunian closed her eyes. She was groggily elated, looking forward to Song Wenzhi’s arrival.
Sleep quickly swallowed her. Yu Kunian didn’t know when she fell asleep, but her dreams seemed to be filled with Song Wenzhi’s figure. It was like returning to the convenience store that day; the Omega held her hand and called her name.
The Alpha felt as though she had slept for a long time. Unexpectedly, she wasn’t woken up by Song Wenzhi, but by a phone call. The ringtone lasted for a while before finally waking Yu Kunian.
Yu Kunian opened her eyes somewhat dazed. Half-awake, she picked up the phone on the coffee table. The caller was Song Wenzhi. The Alpha became mostly alert, and just as the call was about to hang up automatically, she answered it.
“Wenzhi, what’s wrong?” The Alpha wasn’t fully awake yet, and her voice held a hint of lethargy.
Song Wenzhi said the residential area had a gate guard. Besides having her register, the security guard also needed confirmation from the resident, so Song Wenzhi had no choice but to call her. Yu Kunian indeed hadn’t anticipated this; after all, she had never allowed anyone else to come here before, and she originally thought just registering a name would suffice.
So, Yu Kunian explained the situation to the guard over the phone. She decided not to go back to sleep. While waiting for Song Wenzhi to come up, she rubbed her aching shoulders and took the time to open her computer to handle a few work messages.
Then, hearing the sound of the digital lock at the door, Yu Kunian stopped what she was doing. She stood up and walked toward the entrance. Just as Song Wenzhi stepped inside, she met Yu Kunian’s gaze.
The door was gently closed. Song Wenzhi was wearing a shirt and jeans today, her long hair tied up with a hair tie. She was also wearing a mask, revealing only those bright, sparkling eyes. The Alpha was still somewhat weak. Just as she was about to speak, the Omega suddenly took a step closer and placed her hand on the Alpha’s forehead.
The abnormal body temperature made the Omega frown.
“Yu Kunian, did you check your temperature?” Song Wenzhi retracted her hand and asked.
Yu Kunian lowered her head. She leaned toward Song Wenzhi, her hands naturally encircling Song Wenzhi’s waist. The Alpha’s movements were very light as she pressed her forehead against the Omega’s, asking somewhat indistinctly, “Is it very hot?”
Song Wenzhi wondered if Yu Kunian was so feverish that her consciousness was blurred. Just as she was about to check, Yu Kunian tilted her head and rested her chin on Song Wenzhi’s shoulder. Yu Kunian seemed to instinctively huddle into Song Wenzhi’s arms, holding the Omega and whispering in her ear:
“Wenzhi, I took fever reducers.”
Song Wenzhi also put her arms around her back. “It’s still very hot. What fever medicine did you take?”
Yu Kunian pointed randomly toward the coffee table. Her eyes were half-closed as she explained in a low voice, “I didn’t take the wrong one.”
Song Wenzhi wanted to go over and look, but she was carrying things in her hands and couldn’t push Yu Kunian away. Furthermore, the Alpha was clinging to her tightly and stubbornly refused to move from the spot, causing the Omega to let out a rare sigh.
“Yu Kunian,” Song Wenzhi called her name, “Go back and lie down properly.”
Yu Kunian chuckled. Her breath hit Song Wenzhi’s neck, bringing a bit of an itch. The Alpha complied, “Mhm, I’ll listen to Wenzhi.”
The ill Yu Kunian was clearly different from her usual self. The Alpha seemed very fragile right now, and her state was lazy, making her somewhat dependent on others.
Though she said she would lie back down, Yu Kunian still kept her arms around Song Wenzhi as they slowly shuffled back to the sofa. Yu Kunian stopped precisely and sat down, taking the things from Song Wenzhi’s hands as well.
Yu Kunian asked, “What did you buy?”
Song Wenzhi turned to look at the medicine on the table and answered, “I bought some groceries.”
The Omega stood right in front of Yu Kunian, allowing the Alpha to wrap her arms around her waist again. Feeling Yu Kunian’s cheek leaning against her abdomen, Song Wenzhi was stunned. Looking down, the Alpha was contentedly maintaining intimate contact with her, as if she had found someone to rely on.
“Are you going to cook?” Yu Kunian asked.
“Make our lunch.”
Song Wenzhi gave an “Mhm.” “Or would you rather eat food from a restaurant?”
Yu Kunian looked up at her, shaking her head. “I want to eat what you make.”
“It might not taste good.” Song Wenzhi hadn’t bought many ingredients; she was also worried Yu Kunian wouldn’t be used to her cooking.
“I will like it,” Yu Kunian said with certainty.
Song Wenzhi felt the Alpha must be a bit muddled right now. “Does your head still hurt?”
Yu Kunian: “It hurts.”
The Omega leaned down, removed her scent-blocking patch, and released her pheromones to soothe the Alpha. “This way, you’ll feel a bit better.”
Yu Kunian released Song Wenzhi’s waist and instead took hold of Song Wenzhi’s hand. She gently rubbed her cheek against Song Wenzhi’s palm, becoming increasingly dependent under the Omega’s peaceful pheromones.
The President Yu, who was cold and ruthless in the business world, had now changed her appearance because of Song Wenzhi’s pheromones. Song Wenzhi couldn’t help but feel a secret joy; she saw that the Alpha was different because of her.
Every time she noticed this, it undoubtedly made her surrender herself willingly. Song Wenzhi knew they would have a future; she was always steadfast and always expectant.
The scent of coconut candy enveloped Yu Kunian, and indeed, she felt a bit better. Song Wenzhi checked the time and noticed the bloodshot streaks in the Alpha’s eyes, so she told her to nap for a while longer while she went to cook first.
However, Yu Kunian didn’t plan on sleeping again. “I’ll help you out.”
Song Wenzhi pressed her back down. “Sick people should rest well.”
The Omega covered her with a blanket. Fortunately, the sofa was spacious enough that she didn’t feel cramped. Song Wenzhi poured a glass of water and set it aside before picking up the groceries and heading to the kitchen. Yu Kunian looked at Song Wenzhi’s back, her heartwarming; this feeling was both foreign and cozy.
Yu Kunian had never been taken care of like this. She didn’t get sick often, but Yu Dai and Yang Jin were always busy with the Committee’s affairs. When she was sick before, she always just toughed it out, rarely even taking time off. Even if she wasn’t so sick that she lost consciousness now, Song Wenzhi’s arrival allowed her to let go of everything and wait peacefully, being looked after so carefully.
The Omega said she was important.
The persistent pain in her temples throbbed faintly, but Yu Kunian’s breathing was very steady. She stared at the Omega’s figure in the kitchen and smiled. After a moment, she got up anyway, pushed open the kitchen door, and went to help Song Wenzhi.
Picking, washing, and cutting vegetables—things that couldn’t be more ordinary—felt incredibly precious to Yu Kunian at that moment. Any priceless gift couldn’t compare to the present, couldn’t surpass this moment in time.
Whether it was the accusations from her family or the flattery within business circles, Yu Kunian would deliberately skip over them as quickly as possible. Only things related to Song Wenzhi would make her want to stop and savor them.
She had grown accustomed to Song Wenzhi; it was an unprecedented habit.
A specialness that even Yu Kunian herself hadn’t realized.
All the preparations before stir-frying were done. Song Wenzhi watched Yu Kunian wash her hands and then said, “Yu Kunian, go wait outside.”
Yu Kunian said, “Even though I’ve never cooked before, perhaps I can give it a try.”
Song Wenzhi’s brows furrowed slightly. “I came to take care of you, Yu Kunian.”
The meaning was clear, yet Yu Kunian looked at her and laughed. She walked over and raised her hand, using her fingertip to smooth out the space between her eyebrows. The closing distance made the Omega instinctively want to step back, but the Alpha held her shoulders and suddenly asked in a soft voice:
“Wenzhi, can I kiss you?” Yu Kunian’s gaze landed on the position of her lips, even though they were separated by a mask.
