The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 26
“I will marry Teacher Song, and I will only marry Teacher Song.”
The news of Song Wenzhi and Yu Kunian being together soon spread among the teachers at the Joint Academy. After all, a certain CEO Yu ran to Lihua University every chance she got, and they had been spotted several times holding hands on dates within the campus; it was hard to miss.
Later, Song Wenzhi specifically invited Director Qin and a few other close colleagues to dinner. It was a rare sight to see Song Wenzhi smiling with such gentle softness as she introduced Yu Kunian to them.
Everyone could see Song Wenzhi’s sincerity—it was the same seriousness she had shown when she first took over the Alpha-Omega Joint Academy. Director Qin didn’t speak much during the meal, but as the dinner was winding down, she found an opportunity to speak with Yu Kunian alone.
Director Qin shared a deep friendship with Song Wenzhi and naturally wanted to look out for her. Seeing how much weight Song Wenzhi placed on this relationship, she asked Yu Kunian, “CEO Yu, have you thought about the future? Have you thought about marriage?”
Yu Kunian didn’t hesitate. She simply said, “I will marry Teacher Song, and I will only marry Teacher Song.”
Director Qin felt a vague sense of oddness but didn’t dwell on it. Having received a definitive answer, she asked no more. Yu Kunian hadn’t lied, but she was acutely aware that the premise of this marriage was steeped in deception.
Yet, whenever she was with Song Wenzhi, she seemed to momentarily forget this fact. Yu Kunian didn’t realize she was deliberately suppressing her own motives, trying her best to immerse herself in every date with Song Wenzhi as if the rest of the world had stopped.
Without the interference of Yu Dai and Yang Jin, life had been pleasant lately. Yu Kunian continued to put effort into making Song Wenzhi happy, but unlike before, Song Wenzhi would occasionally give her gifts in return. The distance between them was finally, steadily closing.
However, leisure time was scarce. As the investment fair approached, the entirety of Zhaoming Biotech grew tense.
Years ago, Zhaoming Biotech was indeed the leading enterprise in Alpha-Omega biological sciences, but that was largely because Yu Kunian had caught the wave of government reforms. She had produced corresponding biological products before others even had a plan, allowing her to take a commanding lead. Now, the situation was vastly different. Enterprises of similar nature to Zhaoming Biotech were gradually increasing. No matter how much Yu Kunian pushed for dominance, it was impossible to monopolize the research and development of biological products.
Therefore, if no countermeasure was found soon, Zhaoming Biotech was at risk of losing its greatest advantage.
Other companies were engaging in price wars. Although they couldn’t topple Zhaoming Biotech, they were having an impact, causing profit margins to be less impressive than before. Yu Kunian had foreseen this long ago; otherwise, she wouldn’t have started developing new business lines ahead of time. The Alpha knew that relying solely on previous products wouldn’t keep the company stable; Zhaoming Biotech needed a new, special product on the market.
While Zhaoming Biotech was famous, its current products were becoming increasingly replaceable, which posed a risk. Yu Kunian had decided long ago that the company wouldn’t just manufacture biological agents; she had always planned to expand in a different direction.
Thus, the investment fair was a new opportunity. If the recruitment of investors went smoothly, the company would face fewer obstacles, and she wouldn’t have to worry about her new product failing to reach the market.
Yu Kunian took the investment fair very seriously. She had been holding frequent meetings lately, conducting numerous tests on the new product with the corresponding project teams. Despite the bustle, Yu Kunian tried her best to maintain her meetings with Song Wenzhi, though the frequency of their long dates decreased.
Song Wenzhi understood Yu Kunian, but she missed her nonetheless.
School affairs were less demanding than Yu Kunian’s schedule. A few days ago, when Yu Kunian mentioned the investment fair, Song Wenzhi decided to wrap up the coaching sessions they had agreed upon to ensure Yu Kunian’s speech would go off without a hitch.
But finding the time for the final session proved difficult. Since the distance from Zhaoming Biotech to Lihua University was quite far, it was time-consuming for Yu Kunian to travel. Song Wenzhi eventually felt that rather than having Yu Kunian waste time on the road, she would make time to visit Yu Kunian instead, which would save precious minutes.
Aside from Yu Kunian’s evening hours, an opportunity finally arose today to finish the coaching in the afternoon. Song Wenzhi finished her campus work early and went to Yu Kunian’s company, arriving nearly forty minutes ahead of the scheduled time.
This was Song Wenzhi’s first time at Zhaoming Biotech. She sent a message to Yu Kunian, but the Alpha was likely in a meeting and didn’t reply immediately. Song Wenzhi went to the front desk first, intending to register and wait.
However, when the Beta at the front desk learned she was Song Wenzhi, she invited her upstairs without a second thought. No registration was required, and there was no need to wait. While the Omega was still slightly dazed, she heard the Beta say, “CEO Yu gave instructions in advance: if Ms. Song arrives, we are to bring you up immediately.”
The employee led her into the CEO’s office and brought tea and snacks. The hospitality was meticulous. Before Song Wenzhi could even speak, the Beta girl bustled in and out several times, explaining that Yu Kunian was busy but that the assistant had already been sent to inform her, clearly terrified of making her wait.
Just as Song Wenzhi was about to say it wasn’t necessary, the office door pushed open again. The Beta turned around and called out, “CEO Yu.”
Yu Kunian gave a brief “Mm” and told the other person to “Go on out” with a neutral expression. The Alpha was wearing a light blue shirt and light-colored trousers today, with her curly hair tied up casually. She looked a bit sharper and more imposing than Song Wenzhi usually saw her, but when she looked at the Omega, that cold sharpness melted into a few streaks of warmth.
The office door closed again. The crisp clicking of Yu Kunian’s stilettos sounded, accompanied by the Alpha’s soft call: “Zhizhi.”
Song Wenzhi stood up. “Were you in a meeting just now?”
Yu Kunian pulled her back down to sit, the two of them close together. “It’s over.”
Song Wenzhi furrowed her brows slightly and asked, “Did it end early because of me?”
Yu Kunian took her hand and picked up a sweet from the table to feed her. “Zhizhi, there’s no such thing as ending early. The meeting had been going on for a long time; it was only because the project team couldn’t come up with a counter-strategy that it dragged on. Otherwise, I would have come down specifically to pick you up.”
Song Wenzhi shook her head. “No need to pick me up.”
Yu Kunian’s eyes curved. “I missed you, Zhizhi.”
Because she missed her, she was impatient to see her.
Song Wenzhi’s fingertips twitched slightly. She looked at Yu Kunian, whose eyes were filled with smiles as she gazed at her earnestly. The Omega didn’t answer but simply nodded. She interlocked her fingers with Yu Kunian’s, and after a moment, asked, “Are you tired?”
Yu Kunian lowered her head toward Song Wenzhi, resting her chin on the Omega’s shoulder. The stray hairs on her forehead brushed lightly against the Omega’s neck. Yu Kunian didn’t speak, but she affectionately nuzzled Song Wenzhi’s neck with her cheek, her fingers tracing the Omega’s knuckles as if drawing strength from Song Wenzhi’s scent to soothe her fatigue.
She was certainly tired, but Yu Kunian was accustomed to this kind of exhaustion.
However, when Song Wenzhi asked, she took the opportunity to seek comfort from the Omega.
Song Wenzhi didn’t push her away. She raised her other hand and, after a moment of hesitation, finally placed it on Yu Kunian’s back. The Alpha’s breath hit her collarbone intermittently, causing a faint itch. Song Wenzhi’s eyelashes fluttered as she looked down and spoke:
“Do you want to rest for a while, Yu Kunian?” The sofa they were sitting on was very large, enough for Yu Kunian to sleep on her lap to ease the work-induced fatigue. After speaking, Song Wenzhi remembered something and added, “It won’t delay the speech coaching.”
Yu Kunian said, “No need.” Though this time was originally outside the schedule, Yu Kunian suddenly lifted her head shortly after speaking. After making eye contact with Song Wenzhi, she smiled and said, “How about I take you to see a place?”
Song Wenzhi asked, “Where? Is it far?”
Yu Kunian stood up, pulling her along. “It’s just on another floor of the company.”
Song Wenzhi was curious about what Yu Kunian wanted to show her. Only when they arrived did she realize it was Zhaoming Biotech’s research lab. That entire floor belonged to the biological R&D department, and the new product Yu Kunian was about to pitch was also here. However, the development of this new product was being handled very cautiously, so the location was naturally secluded.
After passing through several security gates, they entered a sealed, independent lab. Yu Kunian turned on the lights and pulled over a chair for Song Wenzhi to sit.
“Why don’t you guess what the company’s upcoming new product is?” Yu Kunian leaned in, keeping her in suspense.
Song Wenzhi said seriously, “Isn’t this a trade secret?”
Yu Kunian couldn’t help but laugh. “Zhizhi, you aren’t an outsider.”
Song Wenzhi was still a bit worried, as she could see how much Yu Kunian valued this. Yu Kunian reassured her, “Even if others knew, they wouldn’t be able to copy it so quickly. The investment fair is only a few days away; no counterfeits will appear in time.”
With that, Yu Kunian picked up a delicate instrument to show Song Wenzhi. This was a project they had been working on for a long time. The instrument had undergone multiple rounds of testing and was now capable of perfectly preserving Alpha and Omega pheromones.
This was thanks to the project team established at the founding of Zhaoming Biotech, which had continuously experimented and developed the new CPP technology. This technology could not only capture and purify the most dominant pheromone by comparing concentrations, but it could also strip away the genes that produce negative effects like pressure, retaining only the soothing and common parts. This achieved the effect of suppressing risks to the absolute minimum.
Currently, the capture still needed to be conducted in an enclosed space, but the project team was continuously running experiments for non-enclosed spaces. Once achieved, CPP technology would lead Zhaoming Biotech to once again surpass all current enterprises in the biological R&D field—another unprecedented breakthrough.
Many other companies were also researching this kind of technology, but Yu Kunian had been very generous with funding from the start. To date, she had invested no less than five billion US dollars. The top-tier global R&D team alone cost three hundred million a year, not to mention the professional imported equipment. It could be said that Yu Kunian was taking a massive risk, almost to the point of putting all her eggs in one basket. If anything went wrong, the company would fall into an inescapable predicament.
Song Wenzhi didn’t see anything particularly special. “What kind of product will this make? A suppressant with fewer side effects?”
“Zhaoming Biotech’s suppressants already have the fewest side effects on the market and have minimized them as much as possible,” Yu Kunian explained. “What we are about to produce isn’t a medicine, but a pheromone-based work of art with special significance.”
CPP technology could be used for many purposes, but before a full analysis of benefits and risks was completed, Yu Kunian only intended to make low-risk artistic products.
“Are there no finished products yet?” Song Wenzhi was curious about what kind of artwork Yu Kunian wanted to create.
Yu Kunian said, “The partner company is already making them. We should get the test samples in two days. If they pass, we’ll start production on a small batch of samples.” The Alpha paused, her gaze lingering on Song Wenzhi, who was carefully observing the instrument. The smile on her lips widened as she leaned closer and continued, “Zhizhi, before they hit the market, I want to make a gift for us first.”
Song Wenzhi seemed to understand. “You need my pheromones?”
Yu Kunian nodded, her gaze earnest. “Is it convenient, Zhizhi?”
The gift, of course, would not be the same as the other products. Yu Kunian wanted to make something unique, and she would personally participate in the process to ensure the gift was absolutely special.
Song Wenzhi did not hesitate. “Okay.”
Yu Kunian held her hand and gently rubbed her fingertips, her smile hard to hide. “Thank you.”
Song Wenzhi turned slightly, allowing Yu Kunian to help her remove the scent-blocking patch. The scent of coconut candy quickly swirled around Yu Kunian’s nose, making the Alpha subconsciously lean closer. Operating the pheromone-capturing instrument was not difficult; it required no skin contact and would not affect the Omega in any way. It only needed a little time to complete.
Song Wenzhi held her hair back with her hand, exposing her fair neck. Without the barrier of the patch, she couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous in the unfamiliar situation. Fortunately, Yu Kunian was close to her, their thighs touching. The warmth provided a sense of security. Song Wenzhi kept her eyes half-lowered, her gaze falling on the Alpha’s fingers.
The capture process didn’t take long. Once finished, Yu Kunian put the instrument back and prepared to take out a new scent-blocking patch. But before she could apply it to Song Wenzhi, the lights in the lab suddenly went out. The entire room plunged into pitch darkness, and after a few seconds of silence, it seemed as though only the sound of their faint breathing remained.
“Yu Kunian—” Song Wenzhi blurted out. Startled by the sudden change, her pheromones thickened slightly without her even realizing it.
