The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 13
“I Will Wait For You”
Song Wenzhi had never comforted anyone before, nor did she know how to.
“If President Yu is tired, let’s end today’s lesson here,” Song Wenzhi said after a moment of thought, ultimately settling on those words.
Yu Kunian’s expression remained unchanged, though a trace of bitterness flickered in the depths of her eyes. She lowered her gaze and slowly released Song Wenzhi’s hand. Her voice sounded as usual: “Teacher Song, is there no other way you can help me relieve my fatigue?”
Song Wenzhi asked, “Isn’t the best method simply to rest?”
Yu Kunian asked, “Is Teacher Song accustomed to relieving it alone?”
Hearing this, Song Wenzhi did not reply for a long time. She stood still, staring at Yu Kunian as if reminiscing about something. Her eyes darkened slightly. After saying a quiet “No,” she inconspicuously turned her head away. After a brief silence, she spoke again:
“There is an activity at the academy tonight. Would President Yu like to come?”
Yu Kunian chuckled softly. “I want to go.”
“Aren’t you going to ask what the activity is?” Song Wenzhi turned her gaze back, somewhat surprised by the speed of her agreement.
Yu Kunian nodded. “As long as Teacher Song is there, I am more than happy to attend.”
Song Wenzhi looked at the Alpha looking up at her. Seeing that there seemed to be no falsehood in her gaze, she nodded and said, “I will wait for you.”
Just as Yu Kunian was about to respond, she was interrupted by the sudden ringing of her cell phone. She took out her phone to look; the caller was Yu Dai. The ringing lasted for several seconds before Yu Kunian rejected it without hesitation, her eyes clouding with gloom. Her fingertips gripping the phone gradually turned white.
Yu Dai’s calls were always persistent. Despite Yu Kunian ignoring one after another, the other side continued to dial, acting as if they wouldn’t stop until Yu Kunian answered. Yu Kunian’s breathing grew heavy. She flipped the phone over, preparing to pull out the SIM card to completely resolve these annoying calls.
“President Yu, why don’t you answer it?” But Song Wenzhi’s voice was like a ray of warm sunshine breaking through layers of dark clouds, sweeping away the irritability in Yu Kunian’s heart. She turned to look at Song Wenzhi; the Omega was lightly furrowing her brows; her eyes filled with concern.
Yu Kunian realized she had lost her composure. She quietly exhaled and forced a smile, shaking the phone toward her and nodding. “I’ll take it. Please excuse me for a moment, Teacher Song.”
Moving away from Song Wenzhi, Yu Kunian stood by the library window. She looked down at the call from Yu Dai ringing once again. Her finger paused for a moment before she sluggishly swiped to answer.
Yu Kunian’s tone was very cold: “What is it?”
Yu Dai was concise: “Come home today.”
Yu Kunian glanced back at Song Wenzhi, who was sitting on the sofa flipping through a magazine on the table, and refused without hesitation: “I don’t have time.”
“Yu Kunian.” Yu Dai had expected this and spoke calmly, “I am not negotiating with you.”
Yu Kunian said, “My company’s affairs should be more important than your matters.”
Yu Dai gave a cold snort. “Do you think I don’t know, Yu Kunian?”
What did she know?
She knew everything about Yu Kunian. She kept a constant eye on every move of Zhaoming Biotech. Therefore, she knew very clearly whether Yu Kunian had been at the company recently and how long she had stayed there.
Yu Kunian remained silent for a long while. She was aware of this, so she didn’t particularly care. “So what? I haven’t neglected the company’s business. I have my own private arrangements. Is there a problem?”
“Yu Kunian, I don’t want to repeat myself.” Yu Dai’s tone became somewhat oppressive; she had lost her patience. “Come home immediately, or you know the consequences.”
Without waiting for Yu Kunian to speak again, the call was disconnected. Yu Kunian pressed her lips thin. Through the glass window in front of her, she saw her own somber face. Yu Dai’s voice seemed to spiral repeatedly in her ears; that commanding and icy tone made her fingers stiffen slightly.
The call had ended a long time ago, but Yu Kunian was still standing by the window in a daze until Song Wenzhi approached her with a book and spoke from behind her: “President Yu?”
Yu Kunian snapped back to reality. The oppression in her heart was hard to conceal, but she quickly adjusted her emotions and feigned that nothing was wrong, curling her lips into a smile. “What is it, Teacher Song?”
Song Wenzhi stared at her for a moment, her gaze sweeping across her features with complexity before she said, “It’s lunchtime. Does President Yu want to go to the cafeteria together?”
Yu Kunian smiled apologetically. “Teacher Song, I suddenly have other arrangements and won’t be able to eat with you.”
Song Wenzhi said, “It’s okay. Go ahead with your business, President Yu. See you tonight.”
She had classes in the afternoon; their next meeting would be at the academy activity in the evening. Song Wenzhi sent the time and location to Yu Kunian. Before leaving the library, because Yu Kunian was in a hurry, she did not see the expectation in Song Wenzhi’s eyes.
Yu Kunian drove back home—that home she loathed. Her expression remained low throughout the journey. Yu Dai did not call again to urge her because she knew Yu Kunian would definitely return.
Before long, there was a knock at the door. Yu Kunian entered with a dark face. She didn’t even intend to stay long; standing at the entrance and looking at Yu Dai, who was pruning a potted plant in the living room, she asked coldly, “What is it?”
Yang Jin came out of the kitchen and said with a smile, “Niannian, come and eat.”
Yu Kunian did not move. She repeated, “What is the matter? I am very busy.”
Only then did Yu Dai put down the things in her hand and walk toward the dining table, issuing a command to Yu Kunian: “Eat first.”
“If you only made me, come back to eat, there was no need to threaten me.” Yu Kunian’s gaze was frigid. “I have no appetite, either.” After speaking, she turned to leave, having already pushed open the front door.
Yu Dai spoke again, unhurriedly: “Yu Kunian, I do not like to repeat my words.”
Yu Kunian’s footsteps halted. She turned back and asked sarcastically, “I wonder what Mother wants to do? What means do you intend to use to make me submit?”
“Niannian, after eating, dress yourself up well. There is a guest to meet this afternoon.” Seeing that the situation was not right, Yang Jin spoke up to smooth things over. “If you two quarrel at this juncture, won’t it make people laugh at us?”
Yu Kunian guessed that Yu Dai would take it upon herself to arrange a meeting with another Omega, so she wasn’t surprised at all. The cold smile on her lips became more pronounced as she spoke: “That is your guest. It has nothing to do with me.”
“The other party is coming for you,” Yu Dai said.
“I will not meet them.” Yu Kunian’s attitude was extremely firm. “Since you made the appointment, then meet them yourselves.”
With that, Yu Kunian stepped out of the house and added, “Mother, I have already returned home. If there is nothing else, I will leave first.” She was giving notice, not asking for permission.
The moment before she prepared to close the door, she remembered something. Raising a smile again, she said, “Whoever invited them is responsible for the marriage alliance. I will not accept any of your arrangements.”
Yu Dai’s anger was already visible on her face. She suppressed the fire in her heart, nearly releasing her pheromones to oppress Yu Kunian with every word she heard. Hearing that Yu Kunian was about to leave, she spoke sternly:
“Then who are you going to marry—Song Wenzhi, that base Omega with an ordinary family background and debts?”
