The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 11
“I am here for Teacher Song.”
Yu Kunian felt a bit conflicted when she sent the message. She didn’t know if Song Wenzhi had finished eating and worried about rushing her, so she waited a long time before finally sending the drafted text.
When Song Wenzhi didn’t reply for a long while, Yu Kunian experienced a rare moment of nervousness. She began to speculate whether those few dishes had suited Song Wenzhi’s palate, until Song Wenzhi finally sent: “There was nothing I didn’t like. Thank you for the hospitality, President Yu.”
Only then did the corners of Yu Kunian’s lips turn upward. She replied: Teacher Song, if you like it, let’s go together next time.
The response to this took a long time. Yu Kunian felt that Song Wenzhi seemingly didn’t like that restaurant, because the words “President Yu, there’s no need” lay quietly in the chat box, followed by the next sentence: “Goodnight, President Yu.”
There was no explanation as to why; she had simply and calmly refused.
Yu Kunian’s fingertips paused over the keyboard. Her gaze lingered on the penultimate message for a long time. The sense of triumph she originally felt vanished, replaced by a trace of inexplicable frustration flickering through her heart. Yu Kunian wanted to ask for a reason, but after her eyes rested on that “Goodnight,” she tightened her lips and, with an unhappy expression, sent back a single word: “Okay.”
From childhood to adulthood, Yu Kunian believed there was nothing she couldn’t achieve. Whatever she wanted, she obtained easily. This was the first time she realized that pursuing an Omega was a difficult task. Or rather, pursuing Song Wenzhi was difficult.
She was constantly trying to deduce Song Wenzhi’s thoughts, yet she only guessed correctly about seventy or eighty percent of the time. Song Wenzhi did not resist her—she even treated her differently than others—but as to whether Song Wenzhi actually had feelings for her, Yu Kunian could not be certain.
But no matter what, she would marry Song Wenzhi.
This was an unchangeable fact. Moreover, she didn’t have much time.
Yu Kunian didn’t know how long it was supposed to take to pursue someone; she only knew that before the so-called investment fair ended, she had to make progress with Song Wenzhi. She might not necessarily make Song Wenzhi fall completely for her fierce offensive, but she could ensure she integrated quickly into Song Wenzhi’s life, making her grow accustomed to her presence.
Moving through the business world, President Yu was accustomed to wearing a mask—clandestinely using any means necessary to seize interests from others, while on the surface remaining friendly and talkative. Facing Song Wenzhi, she maintained her excellent acting skills. She attempted to portray a perfect Alpha, seeking the Omega’s gradual consent to intimacy.
But perhaps, she wasn’t one hundred percent selfless in this performance.
Early the next day, Yu Kunian was already waiting downstairs at Song Wenzhi’s apartment. Song Wenzhi had assumed they would meet at the cafeteria entrance, so she was startled for a moment upon seeing Yu Kunian. However, a second later, she nodded slightly and said, “President Yu, you don’t need to come specifically to the staff apartments.”
Yu Kunian said, “I wanted to see Teacher Song a little earlier.”
Song Wenzhi replied, “Actually, it’s only about a ten-minute walk to the cafeteria.”
“Ten minutes is enough to say ‘Good morning’ to Teacher Song, and also to give her a small gift.” As Yu Kunian spoke, she mysteriously revealed a small trinket hidden in her palm, raising her hand to present it before Song Wenzhi’s eyes.
It was a flower-shaped hair clip. The shape consisted of bright primrose-yellow petals surrounding a pure white stamen. Lying quietly in Yu Kunian’s palm, it looked exceptionally lovely—not cheap, but rather like a delicately crafted piece of minimalist art. Song Wenzhi froze for a moment. Her gaze fell upon the hair clip, then slowly lifted, meeting Yu Kunian’s eyes which were full of smiles and expectation.
“Teacher Song, it’s just a small item, not expensive. I found it while browsing around yesterday,” Yu Kunian explained, knowing what the other was worried about. “There are many little things that, the first moment I see them, I feel they suit Teacher Song perfectly. If it were placed in your hair, it would surely look beautiful.”
Having said that, Yu Kunian glimpsed the flash of hesitation in Song Wenzhi’s gaze and pressed her advantage: “Does Teacher Song like it?”
Song Wenzhi lowered her eyes again. She didn’t speak, her fingertips curling slightly—she liked it very much.
Yu Kunian let out a light laugh. Seeing that Song Wenzhi remained silent, she slowly approached her by a few steps. She picked up the hair clip with her other hand, and then, before Song Wenzhi could react, she pinned it to the side of her hair.
Yu Kunian’s movements were very light and very swift. She deliberately maintained a slight distance, politely avoiding touching Song Wenzhi anywhere else while leaving the clip in her hair. Having done this, Yu Kunian stepped back to her original position and said, “It looks good, Teacher Song.”
She was referring to the hair clip, and also to Song Wenzhi.
Song Wenzhi’s breathing had almost faltered just now because she felt the Alpha’s breath draw near, followed by the sensation of Yu Kunian’s fingertips accidentally brushing against her soft strands of hair. It wasn’t until the Alpha retreated that their eyes met. The Alpha’s eyes were curved, a bright smile overflowing from them. Song Wenzhi suddenly understood the meaning of those words. In that instant, her heart rate quickened, and she could make no other move.
How unfair, to approach without her consent.
A small joy—she really liked this gift.
Beneath her jet-black straight hair, the Omega’s ears had inadvertently turned red. Song Wenzhi pursed her lips, wanting to say something but not knowing what. Seeing her “frozen” again, Yu Kunian spoke again with an even deeper smile: “There will be one tomorrow as well, Teacher Song. Just consider it a little morning surprise I give you every day.”
“You bought a lot?” Song Wenzhi seemed to have regained her senses and asked.
Yu Kunian nodded and added, “Teacher Song, care to guess how many days I can keep sending them?”
Song Wenzhi couldn’t guess, but she knew that she would start looking forward to every morning. Every night, she would also be unable to stop herself from wondering what the next day’s gift would be. Yu Kunian didn’t give her the answer either, merely smiling and playing coy before walking with her toward the cafeteria.
The staff cafeteria of the AO Union Academy was very affordable and the food tasted quite good. Most teachers came here to eat, and since Song Wenzhi was famous within the academy, constant scrutinizing glances fell upon Yu Kunian from the moment they stepped inside.
Aside from her friend Xia Weichi, no other Alpha had ever appeared by Song Wenzhi’s side. This was a rare occurrence enough to shock everyone. Yu Kunian remained composed; even when meeting unfriendly, judgmental stares, she merely gave a faint smile. After all, some of these Alphas were merely defeated opponents she hadn’t even dealt with yet.
Song Wenzhi didn’t seem to notice—perhaps she was used to the subtle glances of outsiders. It was only when they stopped at the breakfast window that she asked, “President Yu, what would you like to eat?”
Yu Kunian took a look. “Can Teacher Song give a recommendation?”
Song Wenzhi nodded. “I can.”
Song Wenzhi bought her several items she usually ate. Yu Kunian carried them over to an empty table for four and sat down. A moment later, Song Wenzhi placed two cups of soy milk by her hand and sat down opposite her.
Just as Yu Kunian was about to speak, someone else sat down beside her. She turned to look and found it was Director Qin. Then she heard Director Qin say with a smile, “President Yu, did you hear about the reputation of our academy’s cafeteria and come here specifically for it?”
Yu Kunian looked at Song Wenzhi for a moment before curling her lips. “Then I’m afraid I’m going to disappoint Director Qin.”
Seemingly not expecting Yu Kunian to say this, Director Qin was stunned for a moment before continuing to ask, “President Yu, what do you mean by that?”
Yu Kunian didn’t answer immediately. Her gaze moved to Song Wenzhi; the Omega was focusing on her meal, but upon noticing the Alpha’s gaze, she seemed to dodge it slightly.
She wasn’t attracted by the cafeteria, but had come for her. Song Wenzhi felt a few hints of guilt at this reason.
Yu Kunian smiled. She turned back, considering her wording. After Director Qin had waited for several dozen seconds, she said, “I am basking in Teacher Song’s light.”
“Teacher Song invited President Yu to breakfast?” Director Qin was also quite surprised. Song Wenzhi was actually willing to have breakfast with another Alpha.
Yu Kunian shook her head. “I followed her here of my own accord.”
Hearing this, Director Qin’s movements froze, as if she were trying to comprehend Yu Kunian’s words. One was a legendary, unapproachable, and busy Alpha, and the other was an Omega who was so distant toward other Alphas it bordered on coldness—how did these two get together?
Were they won over by a single breakfast?
It couldn’t be that bizarre, could it?
A moment later, Director Qin seemed to realize something. Just as she was about to speak, Yu Kunian spoke first: “Director Qin, I am pursuing Teacher Song.”
“…” The air stagnated for a second. Director Qin felt she might be hallucinating.
When Song Wenzhi heard this sentence again, her heart inevitably skipped a beat. She raised her eyes, only to unexpectedly crash straight into Yu Kunian’s unmasked, deep-seated gaze. Director Qin looked at this Alpha, then at that Omega, feeling as if a miracle had occurred. Although it was exaggerated, she was indeed shocked to the extreme—it would have been better if they had just been won over by breakfast.
As a result, Director Qin inadvertently blurted out in a startled voice: “You say you’re pursuing our Teacher Song?”
Yu Kunian felt a bit helpless at Director Qin’s reaction, but she nodded nonetheless. Noticing that people attracted by that loud voice were casting their glances over, Director Qin hurriedly lowered her volume and asked Song Wenzhi, “Teacher Song, do you… agree?”
Probably because the person being pursued was Song Wenzhi, Director Qin felt compelled to ask. Song Wenzhi was clearly startled by the sudden inquiry, then began to feel a bit embarrassed. She lowered her eyes and gave a small, quiet “Mm.”
Director Qin’s hearing was quite good. Upon hearing it, she immediately stood up, muttering that she didn’t want to be a third wheel. She quickly grabbed her breakfast and turned to leave before either of them could speak.
But after taking several steps, Director Qin suddenly turned back and said excitedly, “President Yu, keep it up!”
Well, now everyone in the staff cafeteria knew she was pursuing Song Wenzhi. Tomorrow, everyone in the entire AO Union Academy would likely know as well.
Yu Kunian laughed out loud again. Then, meeting Song Wenzhi’s gaze, she saw the Omega slightly furrow her brow and say, “President Yu, Director Qin is just like that. Please don’t mind her.” She was worried Yu Kunian would be troubled by Director Qin’s behavior.
The Alpha in front of her was beaming. “I won’t.” As she spoke, her eyes lightly swept over the Omega’s face, finally resting on Song Wenzhi’s lifted, thick eyelashes. “I hope they all know about it. That way, no other Alphas will come to disturb you.”
