- Chapter 27 - The Alluring Movie Queen & The Gloomy Heiress
In the blink of an eye, Xiao Mi handed Ye Zhixia her combat suit and teleportation device.
By now, she had already transformed into the appearance of a little girl, dressed in a pink children’s combat suit.
She had been secretly observing the situation all day and was just as furious as Ye Zhixia.
Ye Zhixia took the clothes and equipment, glancing at Xiao Mi’s outfit in surprise. “Why would you need to step in just to deal with someone like Chu Xiao?”
Xiao Mi cracked her knuckles and argued, “No way! That Chu Xiao is despicable, always scheming to hurt the beautiful Chu Ning and taking advantage of others when they’re down.”
“Today, Xiao Mi is going to teach him a little lesson!”
Images from the video flashed through Ye Zhixia’s mind, and the veins on her hands bulged once again.
“Fine, but be careful not to kill him,” she warned seriously.
Xiao Mi, now energized by the permission, instinctively rolled up her sleeves, only to realize her full-body combat suit made the gesture pointless.
Ye Zhixia pressed the teleportation device, and the next moment, the two appeared in Chu Xiao’s office.
The sight before them only fueled their rage further.
Chu Xiao had his hand inside the blouse of a female employee beside him.
The woman recoiled in terror as Chu Xiao leaned in menacingly, completely unaware that two figures one large, one small had materialized in the corner of the office.
Ye Zhixia instinctively moved to cover Xiao Mi’s eyes, but before she could, the little girl had already dashed forward and delivered a resounding slap to Chu Xiao’s face.
Chu Xiao, still sore from being hit by Chu Ning earlier in the day, had been taking out his frustration on his employees all day.
This particular female employee had always been strictly professional, never fawning or ingratiating, and Chu Xiao had long despised her aloof demeanor.
Seizing the opportunity while in a foul mood, he had decided to humiliate her in the most degrading way possible.
The woman struggled to escape, but Chu Xiao had been looking forward to a game of cat and mouse until a small child sent his head spinning with a single strike.
He immediately tried to retaliate.
Xiao Mi reacted swiftly, punching his raised arm so hard it went numb, then following up with another slap.
Chu Xiao stared at the tiny figure clad in a pink, full-body combat suit, a sense of unprecedented fear rising in his chest.
Though Xiao Mi had the stature of a seven- or eight-year-old, her strength was terrifying. That single punch had left his entire arm limp, unable to lift again.
Ye Zhixia, dressed in a dark blue combat suit that revealed only her eyes, crossed her arms and tilted her head toward the stunned employee. The woman took the hint and scrambled out of the office in a panic.
Then, Ye Zhixia walked over to Xiao Mi and Chu Xiao, exchanging a glance with the little girl.
Xiao Mi obediently stepped aside as Ye Zhixia pulled out a burlap sack, swiftly draping it over Chu Xiao and yanking the opening tight. With one hand holding Xiao Mi and the other gripping the sack, she vanished on the spot.
After fleeing, the employee hesitated for a moment before reporting to security that strangers had entered the office.
But when the guards burst in with batons, the room was empty.
In the spatial prison, an old yellow burlap sack lay sprawled on the hard concrete floor.
Xiao Mi delivered several hard punches to the sack, eliciting muffled groans from within.
“Still acting tough, huh? Trying to make me go all out?” The childish voice carried a cruel edge. “Today, I’m going to beat the crap out of you, literally.”
Ye Zhixia had initially intended to scold Xiaomi for using foul language, but an important rule of combat was to remain silent to avoid revealing one’s voice.
Without her intervention, Xiaomi grew increasingly enthusiastic. After locating Chu Xiao’s head, she hammered it several times with a loud bang bang.
Still unsatisfied, she grabbed a switch from the wall and lashed it across Chu Xiao’s body again and again.
Fists were hard, and gritting his teeth could help him endure, but the switch left searing pain with every strike.
“Ah! Oww!” Chu Xiao couldn’t hold back his cries.
Only when she heard his pained groans did Xiaomi seem satisfied. Then, she switched to her beloved little whip.
Nearly half an hour later, Chu Xiao’s voice had weakened.
Ye Zhixia had originally planned to deal with Chu Xiao herself, but Xiaomi was simply too professional, leaving no room for her to step in.
However, Xiaomi’s torment had missed one crucial step.
Logically, Chu Ning had been the one to strike first in this incident, Chu Xiao hadn’t instigated it.
But what infuriated Ye Zhixia was that after Chu Ning’s car accident, she had returned to the Chu family in a wheelchair, her legs in casts. Chu Xiao had been fully aware of her injuries. Even if he wasn’t the one pulling the strings behind the scenes to have her killed, he had shown her not an ounce of compassion.
Though Chu Ning had taken the Bone-Mending Elixir, her bones were still far more fragile than before due to her past injuries.
Thinking back to the original plot, where Chu Ning had been left disabled in both legs, Ye Zhixia had come to save her yet within just a month, her shins had been injured twice. The fury inside her burned hotter and hotter.
She strode to the wall, took down a sturdy steel rod, and then walked step by step toward the sack containing Chu Xiao.
Xiaomi, exhausted, was taking a break. Seeing Ye Zhixia approach with the steel rod, she assumed she was going for Chu Xiao’s head and asked in confusion, “Didn’t we agree not to kill him?”
As soon as she spoke, the dark yellow sack on the floor began thrashing violently.
“Don’t kill me! I’ll give you anything you want!” Chu Xiao begged.
Ye Zhixia narrowed her eyes, unmoved, her expression dark as she stopped beside the sack.
She raised the steel rod high, then swung it down with full force, landing a heavy blow on Chu Xiao’s shins. A piercing scream followed.
But Ye Zhixia didn’t stop. Instead, she switched hands and struck even harder.
Though Chu Xiao had already screamed himself hoarse, the excruciating pain made his wails echo through the empty prison.
After five strikes, the sack began to show unnatural angles, and crimson blood seeped through.
Ye Zhixia remained silent. She simply loosened the sack’s opening, dragged Chu Xiao out, and dumped him in the stairwell of his office floor. Before leaving, she made sure to take the sack back with her.
In the forty-plus minutes Ye Zhixia had been gone with Chu Xiao, the employees of Tianxing Entertainment had been thrown into chaos, some calling the police, others hastily packing up and fleeing.
They had all seen Chu Xiao enter his office, and now a grown man had vanished into thin air. Anyone would be terrified.
Chu Xiao, dragging his bloodied leg, crawled painfully out of the stairwell and mustered the strength to call for help.
The police, who had already cordoned off the area, noticed him and rushed over.
The sight of his mangled right leg made even the seasoned officers, accustomed to gruesome crime scenes, suck in a sharp breath…
–
In the quiet depths of the night at the hotel, Ye Zhixia quickly finished her hot shower. Wrapped in a bathrobe, she stepped out of the bathroom while drying her hair with a soft towel.
“Xiao Mi, your turn,” she said, tilting her head to look at the little girl sitting happily on a stool, clutching a can of cola.
Hearing the command, Xiao Mi hurriedly gulped down the last of her cola before scampering off to the bathroom.
Ye Zhixia had been emotionally drained today, having expended considerable effort in educating Chu Xiao. As soon as she finished blow-drying her hair and lay down on the bed, she fell into a deep sleep.
After her bath, Xiao Mi reverted to her usual kitten form. Seeing Ye Zhixia already sound asleep, she grumbled inwardly: I was the one who did most of the work today…
Then she stretched lazily before curling up against Ye Zhixia and closing her eyes.
In another room of the hotel, Bai Xin held her phone, repeatedly scrolling through her chat history with her elder sister.
She couldn’t understand, had Chu Ning somehow violated divine law?
A criminal organization that had evaded capture for two years despite multi-provincial police efforts had risked exposure in Haicheng, the city with the strongest police presence, just to target her.
After careful consideration, the only person who would have a motive to go after Chu Ning, a girl who had just graduated high school was Chu Xiao, her rival within the family.
But was such an extreme method really necessary for a family feud? Or did the Chu family have other sworn enemies?
Still, the police had to thank Chu Ning. The organization’s appearance in Haicheng had given law enforcement across the country the perfect opportunity to close the net.
Bai Xin’s elder sister was much older than her, but the two had always been close.
Bai Xin had been clever since childhood, and more importantly, she was tight-lipped. Her sister treated her like a confidant, sharing both professional and personal matters without reservation.
When Bai Xin had asked about Chu Ning earlier, her sister had explained everything the backstory, the police investigation, even attaching the official case files.
But what left the deepest impression on her were the injury photos of the two organization members. They were so gruesome that she couldn’t even eat dinner afterward!
After sending them, her sister had added: I can’t be the only one traumatized by this.
With that thought, she set her phone aside and buried herself under the covers to sleep.
In an old residential complex in downtown Haicheng, Chu Ning tossed and turned in the safe house arranged by the police. Her mind was filled with Bai Xin’s ambiguous words from earlier and the way Ye Zhixia had touched her.
Ye Zhixia had entered Chu Ning’s world like a ray of sunlight, warm and reassuring.
Ever since meeting her, Chu Ning had felt that she and Ye Zhixia were the closest of companions.
Though they had known each other for less than a month, surviving life-and-death situations together, along with Ye Zhixia’s strong yet tender care, made Chu Ning believe she was the most important person in her life. She hoped Ye Zhixia felt the same.
But today, seeing how physically close Ye Zhixia and Bai Xin had been made them seem like best friends, leaving Chu Ning feeling like an outsider.
“Hmph! I was here first!” Chu Ning muttered under her breath before rolling over, her eyes still wide open.
Growing up, she had never had many friends. The only person she could somewhat call close was Li Jinqiu.
But Li Jinqiu had always been two-faced, careful around her, never openly expressing her thoughts. In contrast, Ye Zhixia was straightforward, sometimes even contradicting her, which somehow felt more genuine.
Ye Zhixia was special to her. She had always known that.
After thinking for a long time, she still couldn’t figure out how to resolve her dissatisfaction with Ye Zhixia’s contact with Bai Xin.
But she didn’t like this Bai Xin!
As for her grandfather, the police had assigned personnel to protect him, ensuring his safety.
Now wasn’t the time to be stubborn. Early the next morning, she would visit the appraisal agency, and in the afternoon, she would go to the film set to discuss with Ye Zhixia the right moment to expose Chu Xiao and Chu Tianheng.
