After getting into a relationship with Xu Qingyan, Li Ge quickly realized a serious problem.

Xu Qingyan had become unbelievably clingy.

No matter where she went, Xu Qingyan would follow. She reminded Li Ge of a stray cat she once fed in school, the kind that wanted to stick to her every hour of the day.

“Xu Qingyan, I’m just going to the bathroom!”

Xu Qingyan stood confidently at the door and said, “You’re pregnant. It’s not safe for you to be alone.”

That made Li Ge want to scream. Ever since she returned to the villa, Xu Qingyan used her pregnancy as an excuse for everything. She was not allowed to hang clothes, wash dishes, or even cook a simple meal. Xu Qingyan always said it was not safe.

Even worse, whenever Li Ge went to the bathroom, Xu Qingyan would become overly alert. If she stayed inside for more than ten minutes, Xu Qingyan would panic, afraid that something had gone wrong, like she had somehow been pulled into the toilet.

“Then why are you still standing here?”

“I just want to look at you.”

Li Ge was close to losing her mind. “Why don’t you just tie yourself to me and hang off my body like a backpack?”

Xu Qingyan whispered, “Can I?”

Just as Li Ge was about to roll her eyes, a wave of nausea hit her. Her stomach churned, and she ran to the bathroom, holding her mouth as she began to gag over the toilet.

Xu Qingyan quickly followed and started patting her back in a panic. “What’s wrong? Why are you throwing up again?”

Li Ge didn’t even want to talk to her. Did she really not know why? How could she ask such a question?

“Go away.”

Xu Qingyan looked confused and hurt. “What happened? Why are you yelling at me?”

Li Ge turned her head, glared at her, and punched her in the chest. “This is all your fault. Everything is your fault. Xu Qingyan, you’re such a jerk!”

If it weren’t for Xu Qingyan, she would not be suffering like this. She wouldn’t be this miserable, throwing up until she felt like her organs were coming out.

Xu Qingyan let her hit her but was worried she would upset the baby. She quickly tried to comfort her. “Okay, it’s my fault. Everything is my fault. I’m the jerk. Please don’t get too upset, Xiao Ge. Think about the baby.”

The baby. Always the baby.

Li Ge got even more upset and hit her harder. “The baby, the baby. What about me? Am I not important? So you only care about the baby and not me?”

Xu Qingyan had read about omega pregnancy symptoms. She knew that during this time, omegas could become extra emotional, insecure, and even irritable. What they needed most was their alpha’s patience, attention, and soothing pheromones.

Soon, Li Ge smelled the soft scent of roses.

Xu Qingyan froze.

She had never cooked before. She had always relied on the housekeeper and staff to prepare everything. She thought cooking was a waste of time that could be used for work instead.

But this time was different.

Li Ge had asked for something she made. So Xu Qingyan was willing to learn. She would figure out how to bake a cake and make sure Li Ge could enjoy it soon.

“Alright.” Xu Qingyan gently stroked her hair. “I’ll make it for you today.”

She stood up and carried Li Ge to the sofa outside the kitchen, then put on an apron she found somewhere.

“Wait here. I’ll bring it to you when it’s done.”

Li Ge sat for a while but felt bored. She tugged on Xu Qingyan’s sleeve. “I want to come in with you.”

Xu Qingyan didn’t want to say no, but the doctor had advised against exposing pregnant omegas to too much smoke or heat. On top of that, she had never baked before. What if she messed up and something exploded? Li Ge could get hurt.

So she firmly refused.

But Li Ge was stubborn. “If you don’t let me come in, then don’t even think about sleeping in the bedroom tonight.”

Now that was serious.

Sleeping beside her wife and being stuck on the couch were two very different experiences. Nothing was more important than falling asleep with his arms around her.

Without any hesitation, Xu Qingyan gave in. “Okay, but you have to promise me you won’t stay in there long. Just a little while, then you have to go rest.”

They both put on aprons and went into the kitchen together.

This time, they had no help from the staff. Xu Qingyan randomly pulled up a five-minute cake tutorial online.

“Crack five eggs and separate the yolks from the whites,” Li Ge read from the phone.

It sounded simple, but since Xu Qingyan had never done it before, she kept breaking the yolks during the process. After about fifteen minutes, she had already wasted over twenty eggs.

Li Ge couldn’t stop laughing. Her stomach ached from laughing so hard. “President Xu, what are you even doing? You can’t even separate an egg. After wasting this many eggs, will I even get to eat cake tonight? If not, don’t bother coming back to the bedroom.”

Xu Qingyan was shocked.

She couldn’t let that happen.

She grabbed the phone from Li Ge’s hands and pushed her out of the kitchen.

She was sure she kept failing because Li Ge was watching and distracting her.

That had to be it.

“You wait outside. Come back when it’s ready.”

Li Ge was laughing so hard she couldn’t breathe, but she still got pushed out of the kitchen.

Ten minutes later, Xu Qingyan finally managed to separate the egg yolks and whites successfully. She had lost count of how many eggs she had ruined, but at least she could move on to the next step.

She added lemon juice to the egg whites, beat them with a mixer until fluffy, then stirred the yolks with flour and folded the whipped whites into the batter in small portions.

After more than thirty minutes, she poured the mixture into a baking mold and placed it into the oven.

The oven chimed when it was done.

Xu Qingyan carefully removed the cake from the oven, placed it on a plate, and proudly brought it out to Li Ge.

At first, Xu Qingyan had a smile on her face. But as she brought the cake out and saw the unexpected person sitting in the living room, her expression instantly froze.

It was Xu Hong.

Li Ge noticed Xu Qingyan had come out and stood up to greet her.

Xu Qingyan asked the housekeeper to take the cake back and set it aside. Then she said, “Xiao Ge, you don’t need to stand up. Stay seated. As for this guest, I don’t remember inviting you here. What are you doing here? Trying to pressure Xiao Ge on purpose?”

Xu Hong gave a slight smile. “You’re right. I didn’t like her before. But now I do. Is that not allowed?”

“You expect me to believe that?”

“In your eyes, am I really such an unreasonable, heartless mother?”

“Aren’t you?”

If she weren’t so overbearing, how else would Xu Qingyan have grown into the person she was today?

Xu Hong didn’t try to defend herself. Whether in the past or now, she never believed she had done anything wrong. “Think whatever you want. I’m not here to see you today. I came to visit my future daughter-in-law and bring her a few things.”

Xu Qingyan glanced at the boxes on the table. Most of them were clearly from high-end jewelry brands. Some were unfamiliar, but judging by the packaging, they looked like health supplements.

With those words, Xu Hong turned and left the villa without looking back.

“Do you and your mom… not get along?” Li Ge asked.

“Yeah.”

“Is it really that bad?”

“Yeah.”

“So… did she only come today because of me?”

Xu Qingyan suddenly realized something. She turned to look at Li Ge. “Aren’t you afraid of her?”

Most people who met Xu Hong couldn’t help but keep their distance. She had a powerful presence and always looked intimidating. People usually feared her.

“Should I be afraid of her?” Li Ge honestly wasn’t sure. Maybe it was because she had never had a mother, so seeing Xu Hong felt like something missing in her life had been filled. “But she didn’t seem upset with me. She talked to me for a while earlier. She even said if you ever bullied me, I should call her. And she brought all these expensive gifts. Should we return them?”

Xu Qingyan smiled and gently stroked Li Ge’s cheek. “Didn’t I tell you? No one can resist liking you. You’re amazing. Truly amazing.”

Xu Qingyan gave her another playful kiss near the lips. “They can’t see us.”

“You really are shameless!”

“Yes.”

“You old flirt!”

“Yes.”

She actually admitted it so easily. Truly a shameless flirt.

Finally, Li Ge couldn’t take the public affection anymore and pushed her away. “That’s enough. If you kiss me again, you’re sleeping on the couch tonight.”

Xu Qingyan stopped immediately, but switched to hugging her instead. Then she seemed to remember something and asked, “When my mom called you her daughter-in-law, you didn’t object. Xiao Ge, does that mean I’ve officially passed your test?”

Li Ge mumbled, “You haven’t proposed yet. Who agrees to get married without a proposal? Xu Qingyan, you’re not even trying.”

Xu Qingyan instantly pulled out a diamond ring from her pocket. She slipped it onto Li Ge’s ring finger, gently raised her hand, and kissed the back of it.

“My little princess, will you marry me?”

Li Ge looked at the ring on her finger and smiled softly. “Yes. I’ll marry you.”
