The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 55
Originally, fans were trying to explain that Xu Qingyan’s Weibo post was probably just a joke. But after she directly replied to a few comments, they gave up trying to explain anything. Instead, they flooded Li Ge’s official work account with excitement and support.
“Gege Is My One and Only”:
Chairwoman Xu, are you being serious or just teasing? Li Ge just recently became an adult. You’re so much older than her. If she takes your words seriously, she’s so pure and kind. What if she gets hurt?
“Gege Sleeps Next to Me”:
Oh my god, is this a real-life version of “The CEO Fell in Love With Me”?
“My Heart Belongs to Gege”:
Chairwoman Xu, are you truly in love with our Gege or are you just trying to make her happy? Are you really pursuing her? She’s still so young. If you’re just playing around, how could she ever win against someone like you?
“Love You Always, Gege”:
I agree with the comment above. Our Gege is too innocent. If you’re serious about her, you should propose and show your commitment.
“Gege’s Official Partner”:
That’s right. With the way you’ve stirred up social media, if you don’t propose, everyone will think you’re just using her for fun.
There were so many comments that Xu Qingyan couldn’t possibly reply to them all. She picked the most visible ones to respond to.
Xu Qingyan:
I love her sincerely. This isn’t a joke.
@My Heart Belongs to Gege
Xu Qingyan:
I’ve already proposed in private. I’m waiting for her response.
@Love You Always, Gege
Xu Qingyan:
Can you help me tag her? She’s still angry at me. When I tag her, she ignores me.
@Gege’s Official Partner
The post, already trending at number one, immediately gained even more traction after Xu Qingyan replied. It became the hottest topic online. Entertainment media quickly took screenshots and shared the news. Even people who didn’t know the background were drawn in by the headlines.
It was extremely rare to see a wealthy CEO publicly chasing an actress. And this wasn’t just any CEO. It was Xu Qingyan, the new chairwoman of Xu Corporation, someone the entire industry respected. The story quickly became the talk of the town.
Of course, alongside the support came harsh criticism.
Not long after the post gained attention, sour and mocking comments started flooding in. Some even created groups just to spread negativity and slander.
“The whole CEO-falls-in-love story is just fantasy. Fans need to wake up. She’s clearly using Li Ge for fun. And you all believe it. Ridiculous.”
“Look at what your idol is and look at who she’s dealing with. Xu Qingyan is someone your idol couldn’t reach in eight lifetimes. Stop acting like this is some Cinderella story.”
“Fans always think their idol is a goddess. But this one? Just someone who climbed into the right bed. Xu Qingyan is clearly using her for publicity for her new drama. And yet everyone is celebrating like fools.”
“I know this Z-list actress. Her dad owns a small company. Now she’s managed to attract a powerful woman. Just look at her. You can tell she’s not as innocent as she looks. Stop defending her. She’s just a background character trying to force herself into the spotlight.”
The arguments between fans and haters broke out almost instantly. Blacklist posts and personal attacks filled the feed. The more Xu Qingyan scrolled, the angrier she became. People could criticize her all they wanted, but they had no right to attack Li Ge.
She wasn’t going to tolerate any of it.
She immediately contacted Secretary Su and asked her to collect every piece of slander and evidence. They wouldn’t just send warning letters. They would take these people straight to court.
Within minutes, all the negative posts were removed. Some users deleted their accounts and disappeared. Only then did people begin to realize that Xu Qingyan was completely serious. She was genuinely pursuing Li Ge, not just stirring up hype.
Public opinion started to shift once again.
On the film set, Li Ge hadn’t checked her phone. She was still busy with work, but the entire production crew was buzzing with excitement. Compared to the gossip and harsh comments from before, their attitude toward her had done a complete turnaround.
When the director finally called “cut,” Li Ge walked back to the dressing room in costume. As she passed by, almost everyone greeted her with unexpected warmth.
She felt confused. She looked around and noticed that people were watching her in a strange way. It wasn’t unfriendly, but it was different.
“Did something happen?” Li Ge asked her assistant quietly.
The assistant didn’t speak right away. She simply pulled up Xu Qingyan’s Weibo post and handed her the phone.
“Chairwoman Xu seems to be showing her sincerity. Do you want to respond?”
Li Ge stared at the post and paused. She hadn’t expected Xu Qingyan to go this far. But if she forgave her so easily, it would feel too cheap. She had already decided not to soften too quickly.
“Let her do whatever she wants. Don’t worry about it.”
The assistant stayed quiet. Xu Qingyan had clearly instructed her to respect Li Ge’s decisions. If she tried to interfere now, it might seem like she was pushing too hard. And if anything went wrong, she would be the one held responsible.
“By the way,” the assistant added, “Chairwoman Xu said your health isn’t fully recovered. After filming tonight, you don’t need to stay at the hotel with the other actors. She’s coming to pick you up and take you back to the villa for dinner.”
Li Ge didn’t want to go back. She didn’t even want to see Xu Qingyan.
“Tell her not to come. I’m not going back to the villa.”
The assistant looked nervous. “But she told me to make sure you returned with her.”
This was part of her job. If anything went wrong, Xu Qingyan would definitely blame her.
“Miss Li, maybe you can call her directly. I’m only doing my job. I’m not trying to pressure you. I just…”
“I understand.” Li Ge nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll call her myself. You don’t need to handle it.”
The assistant let out a small sigh of relief and followed behind, holding Li Ge’s costume.
Half an hour later, filming resumed.
It was nearly two in the morning by the time they finished. That night’s scenes involved rain, and Li Ge’s health had never been strong. She barely made it through the final emotional scene.
She thought that changing into dry clothes and drinking something warm would be enough to recover. But she had overestimated herself. As soon as she returned to the hotel, she collapsed on the floor.
When she woke up again, her whole body felt weak and dizzy. She tried to move her hand and felt a sharp pain. There was an IV needle in the back of her hand.
She turned her head and saw an IV bag hanging next to her.
Her assistant, who had been dozing in a chair nearby, jumped up and rushed over.
“You’re awake. How are you feeling?”
Li Ge blinked and asked, “Am I in a hospital?”
The assistant nodded. “Yes. You fainted. Chairwoman Xu carried you here herself.”
“She carried me?”
She had clearly told Xu Qingyan on the phone that she wouldn’t be returning to the villa tonight, and there was no need for her to come. She had even warned that if Xu Qingyan insisted on showing up or forcing her to go back, she would rather die than go with her.
The assistant seemed to understand what she meant and quickly explained, “President Xu was really worried about you last night. She insisted on coming to check on you, but she was afraid you’d be upset if you saw her, so she quietly booked the room right next to yours. She never expected you’d suddenly collapse. She was terrified.”
“She kept calling you, but couldn’t get through. So she called me. I tried calling your room, but you didn’t answer either. That’s when she guessed something had happened. She rushed to the front desk and had them open the door.”
“When they went in, you were lying on the floor in just a towel. President Xu panicked, picked you up and carried you straight to the hospital. She stayed here by your side the whole night. Just now, she figured you’d be hungry when you woke up, so she went out to buy you something to eat.”
Li Ge actually still remembered a bit from when she fainted. She vaguely heard her phone ringing, but she couldn’t move her body at all, let alone reach out to pick it up. So it had really been Xu Qingyan calling.
“Are you thirsty? I’ll get you some water.”
Li Ge nodded, then pushed herself up into a sitting position. “Did the director say anything?”
“The whole crew was seriously worried about you,” the assistant replied. “They were planning to visit, but President Xu didn’t let them. She was afraid they’d disturb your rest, so she sent them back to the set.”
Li Ge felt guilty. She was slowing down the entire production. She had even considered asking to be replaced, but the drama was already halfway through filming. Quitting now would be irresponsible, and she still wanted to work hard and build a career in the industry.
“What did the doctor say? When can I be discharged?”
The assistant handed her the warm water and hesitated. “Li Ge… you’ll probably need to stay in the hospital for the rest of the week.”
Li Ge frowned. “Why?”
Just as the assistant was about to explain, Xu Qingyan walked in carrying several bags.
“President Xu,” the assistant greeted.
Xu Qingyan placed the food down and said, “Xiao Zhao, can you give us a moment? I want to talk to Li Ge alone.”
The assistant nodded and quietly left the room.
Xu Qingyan didn’t dare sit near the bed. She knew Li Ge didn’t want to see her, so she stood nearby. “Do you feel any better?”
Li Ge looked up at her. The assistant hadn’t lied. Xu Qingyan must’ve stayed up all night watching over her. There were dark circles under her eyes, and her whole face looked drained.
In truth, Xu Qingyan hadn’t rested well in days. Even during the time she was being rough with Li Ge in bed, she would grab her laptop the moment she had a break and dive into work. On average, she only slept three to four hours a night.
“Much better,” Li Ge said, then pointed to the chair. “Do I really have to ask you, my guest, to sit?”
Xu Qingyan immediately sat down obediently. “I was worried you wouldn’t want me to…”
Maybe feeling guilty, she kept her head down the whole time.
Li Ge recalled the assistant’s hesitation earlier, and an uneasy feeling crept up. “What do you need to tell me?”
Xu Qingyan nervously twisted the hem of her shirt, hesitated for a while, but still couldn’t get the words out.
Li Ge hated this kind of hesitation. Her tone turned sharp. “Just say it!”
Xu Qingyan slowly lifted her head. After another long pause, she finally bit her lip and said, “Li Ge… if I tell you the truth, can you promise me you won’t get mad?”
At this point, Li Ge didn’t need her to say anything more.
She already knew what it was about.
The day had finally come.
