The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 51
Li Ge had held in too much pain and frustration for too long. Hearing Xu Qingyan’s words only made her cry harder. Her tears flowed down her cheeks, falling one after another onto Xu Qingyan’s wrist, which was holding her tightly.
The drops were warm and wet, carrying the heat from her body.
Xu Qingyan panicked and held her even tighter. She didn’t know how to comfort people. She had always been like this. Even though she was an Alpha, she had never once thought about protecting anyone, let alone showing them gentle care.
To Xu Qingyan, the only person in the world she could truly rely on was herself. That was why she had fought her way to the top, using every means necessary to defeat Xu Hong and become the youngest CEO of the Xu Corporation.
She used to believe that if someone couldn’t protect themselves or didn’t know how to grow stronger, then they deserved to be taken advantage of. It didn’t matter whether they were Alpha, Beta, or Omega. Weakness was weakness.
But ever since she met Li Ge, that belief started to change. She began to understand that everyone had moments of vulnerability. Not everyone who worked hard could become strong, and even those who seemed strong had their own weaknesses. People could break too, just like she did during her susceptibility phase.
During that time, she felt like a stray cat or dog that had been abandoned. She had no sense of safety, no sense of worth. It felt like the world didn’t need her, and there was a hollow ache inside her that nothing could fill. It was worse than death.
“It’s all my fault,” Xu Qingyan said softly. “I shouldn’t have followed her advice to provoke you. I shouldn’t have forced you to do things you hated. And I should never have made you submit to me. It was all wrong. Please, don’t cry.”
She gently let go and reached out to wipe the tears from the corners of Li Ge’s eyes. Then she leaned in and kissed her gently at the corner of her eye.
“Please stop crying. If you’re still angry, you can hit me. Maybe it’ll help you feel a little better.”
As she spoke, Xu Qingyan took Li Ge’s hand and placed it against her chest.
“Hit me. Hit me as hard as you want right here. I won’t fight back. Xiao Ge, go ahead and hit me. As long as you stop crying, I’ll do anything you say.”
Li Ge was nearly too exhausted to cry any more. She tried to pull her hand back, but found she had no strength left. Her voice shook as she spoke.
“If I hit you, will that erase everything that’s happened? Will it make all the terrible things you did go away? Xu Qingyan, do you really believe that everything in this world can be solved with an apology? Then what do we need the police for?”
Xu Qingyan knew she had made a terrible mistake. No matter what Li Ge said, she wouldn’t argue. As long as Li Ge was willing to stay with her, even if she never forgave her, that was enough.
“You don’t have to forgive me. You don’t have to pretend like nothing happened. If you want to hate me, then hate me. If you can’t forgive me, that’s okay. Do whatever you want. Just stay with me. As long as you’re here, I don’t care what else happens.”
Li Ge’s mind felt foggy from crying. Before she could say anything else, her eyes closed and she lost consciousness.
Xu Qingyan panicked the moment she saw Li Ge faint. She kept calling her name, but Li Ge didn’t respond. She quickly checked her breathing. It was steady and calm, which gave her some relief.
Still worried something might be seriously wrong, she immediately picked up her phone and called her private doctor.
Not long after, the doctor arrived with a medical kit.
Xu Qingyan stayed by the bedside the entire time. When the doctor entered the room, she turned her head slowly to look at him.
“Director Xu.”
“Skip the formalities. Please check on Xiao Ge right away. I need to know what’s wrong.”
The doctor didn’t dare delay. He quickly walked over with the kit but paused when he saw Xu Qingyan still sitting at the bedside. After a moment of hesitation, he spoke carefully.
“Director Xu, I’ll need you to step aside for a moment so I can examine her properly.”
Xu Qingyan didn’t like the idea, but now wasn’t the time to argue. She slowly stood up and stepped away.
“I was just talking to her moments ago. She was fine. Then suddenly she passed out. Please tell me what’s going on.”
The doctor nodded. He took Li Ge’s hand from under the covers, checked her pulse for a moment, and then used a stethoscope to listen to her chest. After a short while, he said calmly, “It’s nothing serious. She likely fainted from crying too long, which caused temporary oxygen loss to the brain. Let her rest. She should be fine once she wakes up. But…”
“But what? If there’s a problem, just say it. I can handle it.”
“But Director Xu, you need to be more careful going forward. Her body is extremely weak. She can’t handle too much physical stress, especially from someone like you.”
The doctor paused before continuing.
“Your pheromone level is very high. For an Omega under S-rank, overexposure or excessive intimacy can be dangerous. She may not be able to take it.”
Xu Qingyan’s ears turned slightly red at the blunt truth. She muttered a vague response.
“So she really is okay?”
“Yes, she’s just asleep. She’ll be fine once she gets some rest.” The doctor packed away his stethoscope and stood up. “But Director Xu, please remember what I said. Her health is not in good condition. If this continues, it could cause long-term problems. Based on her pulse and complexion, she’s also severely malnourished. She hasn’t been eating properly. You need to make sure she gets the nutrition she needs.”
Xu Qingyan knew Li Dahai had always treated Li Ge poorly. But she had thought that no matter how bad it got, he wouldn’t completely neglect her. At the very least, she assumed he would make sure she had enough to eat.
Now it seemed that Li Ge must have been starving herself for a long time. That was probably the real reason behind her malnutrition.
Xu Qingyan thought back to how light Li Ge had felt when she carried her. She was so fragile, it was as if a gust of wind could carry her away.
“I understand. Thank you, Doctor,” Xu Qingyan said sincerely.
The doctor was surprised. In all the time he had worked for her, Xu Qingyan had never once said thank you. Of course, as her employee, he didn’t expect her to. She paid him well. Gratitude wasn’t required.
But today, she had actually thanked him. Was it because of the Omega lying in that bed?
Come to think of it, this was the first time he had ever seen Xu Qingyan bring an unfamiliar Omega to her private villa. Not only that, she had even let this Omega stay in her bedroom. That alone showed this wasn’t just a casual relationship.
Xu Qingyan noticed the strange look on the doctor’s face and asked, “What is it?”
The doctor hesitated, then asked carefully, “Director Xu, if you don’t mind me asking… who is she?”
Without hesitation, Xu Qingyan replied, “She is my Omega. Or to use a more familiar word, she is my partner. The kind I plan to marry.”
The doctor was stunned. As someone close to Xu Qingyan, he had heard many things about her. He knew she was born into a powerful family. He knew she had broken ties with her mother, Xu Hong, the former chairwoman of Xu Corporation. The two of them were rumored to be locked in a fierce power struggle.
He had also heard about the Omega she grew up with, the heiress of the Pei family. Their families had arranged an engagement long ago. And yet here she was, with a completely unfamiliar Omega, letting her sleep in her own bed. That meant this wasn’t just some passing affair.
Xu Qingyan saw the doctor remain silent and frowned slightly.
“You’re hesitating. Is there something you want to say?”
The doctor took a long moment before responding.
“No, not at all. Director Xu, do you really mean to marry this Omega?”
“Yes.”
He didn’t respond.
Xu Qingyan could guess what he was thinking. She asked calmly, “Do you think we’re not a good match?”
This was a personal matter. As her doctor, it wasn’t really his place to say anything. But since she had asked directly, he gave an honest answer.
“Director Xu, this is something you shouldn’t ask me. You should ask her.”
Xu Qingyan suddenly felt like a balloon that had completely deflated. She didn’t know how to respond to what the doctor had just said.
If she were to ask Li Ge right now, she already knew what the answer would be. Li Ge would definitely say she didn’t want to be with her. That was something Xu Qingyan didn’t want to hear, something she wasn’t willing to face. If the Omega was going to reject her, then she would rather not ask at all.
As long as she never asked, she could keep lying to herself and believe that Li Ge was staying by her side because she wanted to. As long as she didn’t ask, she could keep convincing herself that Li Ge had feelings for her too. That way, she wouldn’t fall apart. She could stay calm, act normal, and Li Ge wouldn’t keep thinking about escaping. They could live together peacefully, treating each other with respect. That kind of life would still be beautiful.
“I understand. Thank you, Doctor. You can see yourself out.”
The doctor nodded politely, picked up his medical kit, and turned to leave.
Xu Qingyan returned to her spot at the bedside. She gently touched Li Ge’s soft, youthful face and couldn’t resist leaning down to kiss her.
The girl under her furrowed her brow slightly in discomfort and let out a soft groan in her unconscious state.
Xu Qingyan froze immediately. She didn’t move any further but hesitated for a moment before she got up. Before stepping away, she let her tongue lightly brush the corner of Li Ge’s lips.
Thinking back to the doctor’s reaction, Xu Qingyan began to understand why Li Ge cared so much about her own reputation. No one wanted to be seen as a homewrecker, especially when none of it was her fault.
If Li Dahai hadn’t pushed her so hard, Li Ge would never have agreed to sign that contract. With her own ability, she could have found happiness and lived freely.
This entire mess started with Li Dahai.
But of course, she herself was also part of the problem. The biggest part.
Xu Qingyan had never tried to justify the things she had done. She knew clearly that what she did was wrong, which was why she kept thinking about how she could make it right.
Suddenly, she seemed to remember something. She gently pulled Li Ge’s hand from under the blanket and took out a measuring tape from the nightstand drawer. Carefully, she wrapped it around the ring finger of Li Ge’s left hand, double-checking the size to make sure it was exact. Then she took a pen and paper and wrote it down.
Xu Qingyan was just about to make a phone call when the maid walked into the room.
“Director Xu.”
“What is it?”
Noticing her tone was less than friendly, the maid quickly replied, “There’s a woman at the front door. She says she’s your friend, but none of us recognize her. We wanted to check with you first before letting her in.”
The moment Xu Qingyan heard the word “friend,” she knew who it was.
Perfect timing. She had been meaning to settle things with her. Now she didn’t even need to go looking.
“Let her in. Have her wait for me in the living room.”
“Yes, Director Xu.”
The maid turned and left.
Xu Qingyan continued what she was doing. Worried she might have measured wrong the first time, she checked again. This time, she measured all ten of Li Ge’s fingers, writing down each one carefully.
She was planning to ask a designer to create a unique ring for each of Li Ge’s fingers. But she wasn’t sure what kind of style the Omega would like.
If she asked directly, Li Ge probably wouldn’t tell her. She might even guess what Xu Qingyan was planning and assume she wanted to trap her, to lock her in place. If that happened, she would definitely try to run away again, just like she had before.
So, Xu Qingyan decided not to ask. She would have the rings made quietly, and then wait for a special day to give them to Li Ge as a gift. Maybe that way, Li Ge would be more willing to accept it.
Once she had written everything down, Xu Qingyan stored the measurements carefully. After she dealt with the woman who gave her such a terrible idea, she would contact a skilled designer to create a ring that belonged only to Li Ge. A one-of-a-kind ring, unlike any other in the world.
