The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 47
Some people are born to be the center of attention, while others are destined to remain in the background.
When Li Ge brought Pei Xiaoyu onto the set, all eyes turned toward them. The entire crew was distracted, especially the alphas, whose eyes nearly glued themselves to Pei Xiaoyu’s face. It was as if they wanted to take their eyes out and place them on her.
“Who is that stunning omega? Is she visiting someone from our set?”
“She must be. There’s no way she’s an actress. If she were new in the industry, she would have gone viral already with that face.”
“If she’s visiting someone, then who? Most of the alphas here already have dating rumors. If she’s linked to one of them and the paparazzi catch it, that’ll go straight to the top of the trending list.”
“I don’t think she’s here for the alphas. She was brought in by that omega who got in through connections. She’s probably here to see her.”
“If she’s here to visit her, are they trying to act like close friends? That doesn’t really make sense. If they were truly close, they would hang out in private or just chat on the phone. Why come all the way here?”
The crew started realizing something felt off. On top of that, Pei Xiaoyu’s outfit clearly wasn’t something just anyone could afford. Every piece of clothing she wore was designer, and all of it was from the latest collection. The total cost was easily in the millions.
Her aura was different too. Money can be faked, but elegance cannot. It comes from upbringing and is rooted in every movement and expression. It cannot be imitated.
Everyone knew Li Ge’s background. She was the daughter of a small business owner, and now that her father’s company had gone under, she was rumored to be someone’s kept lover. If she really had friends from wealthy, elite families like Pei Xiaoyu, she would never have needed to rely on someone else’s support.
Soon, the topic of gossip shifted.
“Then who is she really? Nobody comes here just to watch us film for fun. Maybe she’s a fan?”
“I feel like I’ve seen her before… wait, didn’t she just step out of President Xu’s car? There have been rumors that President Xu has a childhood omega friend. She’s supposed to be the daughter of the Pei Group, right? Could that be her?”
“Now that you mention it, I remember. That is her. Pei Xiaoyu, the Pei Group heiress.”
“What? If she’s really Pei Xiaoyu, then does she know the omega with her is actually President Xu’s secret lover?”
“I bet she doesn’t. No one would tolerate their childhood sweetheart keeping a mistress. I heard she was chosen by Xu Qingyan’s father to be her future wife. If she knew what was going on, she would’ve caused a scene already.”
“Typical rich family behavior. Even with such a gorgeous omega by their side, even with a lifelong engagement, they still sneak around with others. Just goes to show, money doesn’t stop people from chasing temptation.”
Both Li Ge and Pei Xiaoyu heard everything clearly. Their hearing was sharp, and the entire conversation reached them word for word. The awkwardness settled over both of them.
Pei Xiaoyu had come here hoping to embarrass Li Ge. She never expected to become the target of gossip herself. Her expression darkened instantly.
The director recognized Pei Xiaoyu and saw the situation turning sour. He quickly ordered the crew to resume filming and hurried over to guide her aside. He spoke with an awkward smile.
“Miss Pei, please don’t take those comments seriously. They don’t know anything and just enjoy gossiping. I’ll lecture them right away.”
Pei Xiaoyu had never been treated like this before. No matter how the director tried to smooth things over, she felt humiliated. She even wished she could blacklist every one of those gossiping staff members on the spot.
She had originally come here to see Li Ge embarrassed, to take out the anger she had built up after dealing with Xu Qingyan. But now, unexpectedly, she found herself feeling a strange sense of respect for this omega.
If it had been her, being surrounded by people twisting the truth and making up rumors, she would have lost her temper. She would never allow others to treat her that way. But Li Ge remained calm and collected, as if none of it mattered.
Pei Xiaoyu ignored the director and turned to Li Ge with a cold face.
“Where’s your dressing room? I need to talk to you.”
Li Ge glanced at the filming schedule and realized she was up next. If she delayed, the other actors would definitely complain. She answered calmly.
“Can you wait a little? My scene is about to start, and everyone is waiting for me.”
Pei Xiaoyu almost snapped that someone like Li Ge had no right to keep her waiting. But then she remembered this drama was funded by Xu Qingyan. If she caused a scene here, Xu Qingyan would definitely be unhappy. She held back her anger and asked instead.
“How long will it take?”
Li Ge wasn’t sure. There was no set time. If the take went smoothly, it could be over quickly. But if she kept making mistakes, it could take a while.
“I… I’m not sure,” she said and turned to look at the director.
Pei Xiaoyu understood and turned to the director as well.
“You’re the person in charge, right? Let me ask you then. When will she be done with her scene?”
The director didn’t dare offend her. Right now, he was working under Xu Qingyan’s investment, but who could say what would happen in the future? If he ever had to deal with the Pei Group, crossing Pei Xiaoyu now would be a disaster.
After thinking it over, he turned to Li Ge and said, “Xiao Ge, why don’t you go with Miss Pei for now? Since we just started filming today, your scenes are light. I’ll hold off your part for now and let your scene partner shoot something else first.”
Li Ge wanted to say something, but she saw the message in the director’s eyes. He didn’t want to upset Pei Xiaoyu. If she said any more, he would likely lose his patience with her. She had no choice but to agree.
“Sorry for the trouble, Director Li.”
Pei Xiaoyu didn’t wait and immediately pushed Li Ge to lead the way.
Every main cast member had their own dressing room. Xu Qingyan had been worried that other senior actors might bully Li Ge, so she had arranged for her assistant to come ahead of time and secure a private room for her, separate from the rest of the cast.
This meant that Li Ge and Pei Xiaoyu could speak freely without worrying about interruptions.
Once the assistant shut the door, Pei Xiaoyu wasted no time.
“The second female lead role. Xu Qingyan gave it to you, didn’t she?”
Li Ge said nothing, which meant she wasn’t denying it.
Pei Xiaoyu scoffed.
“Of course she did. An omega like you could never get a role like this on your own.”
She folded her arms.
“I came here today just to say one thing. I think you already know what I want to say, don’t you?”
Li Ge looked up and nodded. “I do.”
Pei Xiaoyu hadn’t expected her to be so straightforward. All the anger she had built up suddenly felt pointless, like punching into thin air.
Still, she didn’t want to let Li Ge off easily. She narrowed her eyes and continued, her tone sharp and superior.
“Since you already know, let’s stop pretending. You know that Xu Qingyan is my future alpha. We were promised to each other as children. And yet you still went after her. Are you really so proud of being a homewrecker? Do you think being a mistress is something to show off? If you do, then you really are pathetic.”
Li Ge knew that Pei Xiaoyu had come to confront her, and she also understood why Xu Qingyan had brought Pei Xiaoyu along today. Wasn’t it just to make her give up completely?
But when she heard Pei Xiaoyu’s cruel and insulting words, Li Ge still couldn’t stop herself from responding.
“Miss Pei, please take back what you just said. I’ve never thought being a mistress is anything to be proud of, and I’ve never once felt honored by this kind of situation. So I ask you to choose your words carefully.”
Pei Xiaoyu laughed coldly and said, “Now you want to act righteous? Sleeping with someone else’s alpha and then pretending like you’re not the other woman? I’ve truly never seen an omega as shameless and disgusting as you.”
At first, Li Ge really didn’t know about Xu Qingyan and Pei Xiaoyu’s relationship, and she certainly didn’t know they had a marriage agreement. If she had known, then no matter what, she would never have gone to Xu Qingyan that night.
Now that Pei Xiaoyu had said it so plainly, she had no way to defend herself.
Yes, she had slept with Xu Qingyan. Not just once, but twice… and likely far more times than she could count. If she were to be honest with herself, it was probably at least twenty or thirty times.
Even so, Li Ge still felt the need to explain.
“You’re right to call me shameless. But I am not low or vile. I truly didn’t know she was engaged to you, or that you were her childhood sweetheart. If I had known—”
“You know now, don’t you? And yet you’re still clinging to Xu Qingyan,” Pei Xiaoyu cut her off, her tone icy. “You say you didn’t know about us, and that makes it okay? What kind of logic is that? You act like you’re in the right, as if ignorance gives you a free pass. It just proves how pathetic you are.”
Her words felt like a knife slicing straight into Li Ge’s heart. She had heard plenty of gossip and rumors in the past, some just as cruel. But back then, they only made her sad, and she could move on by distracting herself. This time, though, it felt different. It was as if someone had reached into her chest and stabbed her heart again and again until she couldn’t breathe.
Li Ge bit her lip and forced herself to stay calm.
“Then what exactly do you want me to do, Miss Pei?”
No matter what she said now, Pei Xiaoyu would only see it as an excuse, a way to justify her place as the other woman. There was no point continuing. It would only waste both of their time.
Pei Xiaoyu stood from her seat, walked behind Li Ge, and said coldly, “You really need me to spell it out for you? Clearly, you haven’t given up yet. Fine, I’ll say it again. Xu Qingyan’s mother, Aunt Hong, already made it clear. If anyone other than me dares to have feelings for her, the consequences will be severe.”
“Since you claim you didn’t know about us, now you do. So it’s time to pack your things and get out of Xu Qingyan’s life.”
Li Ge had always known this day would come. She just didn’t expect it to arrive so soon.
She should have felt heartbroken. But strangely, she felt relieved.
It felt like she could finally be free.
She wouldn’t have to be around that unpredictable and possessive Xu Qingyan anymore. She wouldn’t have to suffer through her temper or worry about what she might do next. Once she left, she could do what she wanted. No one would control her.
But before she could walk away, there was one last thing she needed to do. If she was going to leave, she needed to make sure she had enough money.
“I’ll leave her,” Li Ge said firmly, her eyes unwavering. “But before I go, I want to make a deal with you. If you agree to my terms, I’ll disappear from the capital completely and never show up in front of either of you again.”
Pei Xiaoyu had only been trying to scare her. She didn’t expect Li Ge to actually take it seriously. Her expression turned surprised.
“What are your terms?”
Li Ge replied, “I want one million yuan.”
