Li Ge noticed something was wrong with Xu Qingyan’s expression. When she had gone into the bathroom, Xu Qingyan had still been in a good mood. It had only been about fifteen minutes. Why did her expression suddenly change?

She sighed silently. This woman could flip moods faster than turning a page. She thought it would be better not to disturb her, in case Xu Qingyan decided to take her bad mood out on her.

“Who said that? I think it smells wonderful.”

Li Ge still said nothing. Xu Qingyan could imagine the expression on her face without even needing to see it.

“Someone told you it didn’t smell nice? Was it your ex-boyfriend? If you hate him, I’ll bring him in front of you and make him kneel to apologize.”

Li Ge had only been complaining a little. She had not expected Xu Qingyan to suddenly bring up Gu Shi again. Her sadness quickly turned into frustration.

“President Xu, other than your family, is Gu Shi the only person you ever remember? Or do you have a crush on him? To be fair, he is good-looking.”

Xu Qingyan lifted her chin slightly and watched her with an amused smile.

“I did wake you. You just didn’t open your eyes.”

Li Ge did remember hearing someone call her name while she was half asleep. She had thought Xu Qingyan was just messing with her and ignored it. Who would have thought she was actually being kind for once?

“Well, that’s because you’re usually always up to something. Why would I believe you?”

She quickly untied her robe and was just about to take it off when she suddenly remembered Xu Qingyan was still behind her. She immediately froze.

Turning around, Li Ge glared at her.

“Turn around. I need to get dressed.”

Xu Qingyan looked at the omega’s flushed cheeks and suddenly felt it would be a shame to let her go so easily. She sat up straight and stared at her.

“Is there any part of your body I haven’t already seen?”

Li Ge’s face turned bright red.

It was true. They had already slept together twice. Xu Qingyan had seen everything there was to see. At this point, Li Ge acting shy felt a little forced.

But Li Ge genuinely was not comfortable changing clothes while someone stared at her. It made her feel like she was being watched at all times, and that made her uneasy.

When she turned around again, she saw Xu Qingyan holding a laptop, fully focused on whatever she was working on. Her long fingers were typing quickly on the keyboard, and her eyes were fixed on the screen without looking away once.

Li Ge noticed the room was quiet. Xu Qingyan seemed completely absorbed in her work, so she must have finished changing already. Just then, Xu Qingyan raised her hand and pointed toward the table.

“I asked the front desk to prepare breakfast for you. Go ahead and try it. If you don’t like it, I can have them send something else.”

Li Ge froze.

She had only spent a few minutes getting dressed. She had not heard any footsteps or the door opening. That meant this breakfast had already been ordered earlier, probably right when Xu Qingyan woke up.

And at that time, she herself had still been fast asleep.

“You… aren’t going to eat?”

She looked at the table full of food and suddenly felt a bit guilty.

Xu Qingyan kept typing and responded without looking up.

Li Ge picked up a spoon and took a bite of the porridge. It was still warm and full of seafood, just the way she liked it. Then a thought suddenly struck her.

Xu Qingyan noticed her staring and immediately looked up. She saw Li Ge watching her and asked, a little surprised.

“What’s wrong? You don’t like it? I’ll call them now and ask for something else.”

“No, it’s not that.”

“Then why aren’t you eating?”

Li Ge hesitated, then finally asked in a quiet voice.

“This porridge… did you ask them to make it for me?”

“Yes. Why?”

Xu Qingyan had specifically looked into Li Ge’s preferences. She found out that the omega loved seafood and paid extra to have the hotel prepare a fresh seafood porridge just for her. But judging by Li Ge’s expression, it seemed like she was not enjoying it.

Was the information wrong?

That should not be possible.

Xu Qingyan’s research was always thorough and accurate. She had confirmed every detail before making decisions. She trusted that her findings were correct.

So why did the omega not seem happy?

Maybe she was just tired of the flavor?

As Xu Qingyan was wondering about it, Li Ge took another two spoonfuls and quietly said,

“It’s nothing. I was just curious.”

The way she spoke made Xu Qingyan realize what was going on. The girl had been trying to confirm something but was too shy to ask directly, so she had tried a softer approach.

That was actually a good thing.

If she was willing to ask her questions, even in a roundabout way, it meant the omega was beginning to trust her more. That was a very good sign for Xu Qingyan.

And honestly, if everything continued like this, it really would have been a great beginning. But life often goes in unexpected directions.

The hope Xu Qingyan had placed in this slow progress would soon fall apart. What she thought was a gentle turning point between them would soon be shattered. The fragile relationship they had worked so hard to build would return to square one, all over again.
