The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 42
Xu Qingyan noticed that Li Ge’s hand had stopped moving. She frowned slightly, feeling a bit displeased, and decided to take matters into her own hands. Without waiting, she grabbed Li Ge’s hand and placed it firmly against her chest.
“Do you like it?”
Li Ge tried to pull her hand back, but Xu Qingyan was holding on tightly. She couldn’t move it at all and had no choice but to let her hold it.
“Like what?”
Xu Qingyan noticed that the omega was clearly playing dumb. Her brows knitted tighter.
“Is it soft?”
Li Ge’s heart was pounding in her chest. Her face felt hot, like it was on fire, and she could barely look at Xu Qingyan’s strikingly beautiful face.
“You’ve touched it before. Don’t you know your own body well enough to know if it’s soft or not?”
“But I want to hear you say it.”
“Say what, exactly?”
Xu Qingyan realized she wasn’t going to get a straight answer tonight. She gave up asking and sighed silently to herself. Then she let go of the omega’s hand.
Li Ge found it hard to believe. Was Xu Qingyan really going to let her go that easily tonight? It didn’t seem right. Was she secretly planning something?
But looking at Xu Qingyan now, if she really intended to do something, she would have already made her move. She wouldn’t have waited this long or held back.
Or maybe she was just waiting for her to lower her guard so she could suddenly pounce?
That reminded Li Ge of the two previous times Xu Qingyan had forced herself on her. Both times had been at night, while she was asleep. Xu Qingyan had crept into bed without a word and touched her without asking. But thinking about it again, she was just Xu Qingyan’s kept lover. Based on what Xu Qingyan had said earlier, a proper lover should be ready to meet the needs of their sponsor at any time. Resistance wasn’t acceptable.
So Xu Qingyan’s preference was sneaking into her bed at night for a bit of excitement?
Li Ge suddenly seemed to understand something. She bit her lip and said seriously, “Xu Qingyan, you promised me just now that you wouldn’t touch me tonight. You have to keep your word.”
Xu Qingyan paused for a moment. She looked confused. Was this little thing really so distrustful of her? Still, she couldn’t let such a perfect opportunity slip away.
“And if I don’t keep my word, what are you going to do about it?”
“How could you say that?”
Li Ge’s whole face turned stern and upset.
“You’re a company president. How can you go back on your word like that? Or is that what people at your company do, say one thing and do another?”
Xu Qingyan thought this kind of omega was far too adorable. She wanted to devour her completely.
No, she wanted to tear her apart and swallow her whole.
“Of course not. But I’m your sponsor. What’s the problem if I change my mind?”
Li Ge couldn’t find anything to say.
She was the lover. Xu Qingyan was the sponsor. Lovers were supposed to obey their patrons and follow their instructions without question. They weren’t allowed to argue back, much less disobey.
She deflated like a balloon losing air. Her fierce attitude faded into one of quiet sadness. Her head hung low, eyes full of silent frustration.
Xu Qingyan realized she had teased her a bit too much. She softened her voice and said, “I won’t touch you. Go take a shower.”
Li Ge looked up quickly. After making sure Xu Qingyan wasn’t lying, she finally got up and went to the bathroom.
It was almost 11:30. Outside, the dark sky had a few stars scattered across it. The moonlight shone gently on the ground, like it was covered in silver.
Once Li Ge entered the bathroom, Xu Qingyan sat up in bed. She had just started to get up when her phone began buzzing non-stop. She reached for it and saw that it was Secretary Su calling.
After what had happened before, Xu Qingyan usually didn’t let Secretary Su accompany her unless it was necessary. And now, getting a call this late could only mean one thing. It had to be related to Xu Hong.
As expected.
She answered the call. Secretary Su spoke immediately.
“Chairwoman Xu, the former chairman just called me asking where you were. I didn’t know how to answer. Should I tell her to call you directly?”
Xu Qingyan’s good mood instantly disappeared. Irritation and disgust replaced it.
“What exactly did she say to you?”
“She didn’t go into details, but I think it has something to do with Miss Pei visiting you today.”
Xu Qingyan had already rejected Pei Xiaoyu. She had been clear and direct. Pei Xiaoyu wasn’t deaf or blind. She knew exactly where Xu Qingyan stood. Why did she go running to Xu Hong afterward?
Xu Qingyan had always treated Pei Xiaoyu like a distant relative. There was no deep affection, but no real dislike either. However, if Xu Hong was now interfering on Pei Xiaoyu’s behalf, maybe it was time to change how she saw her.
“I understand. Thank you.”
She hung up and searched her contacts before reluctantly calling Xu Hong.
The familiar ringtone for elderly people played.
Soon, the call was picked up. Xu Hong’s arrogant and condescending voice came through.
“Getting a hold of you is really something now. I had to go through your secretary to contact you. Is this how you treat your mother?”
Xu Qingyan ran a hand through her hair, clearly annoyed.
“What do you want? If there’s nothing important, I’m hanging up. We’re all adults and busy with our lives.”
Xu Hong’s mouth twitched. She wanted to yell but forced herself to hold back.
“You know exactly why I’m calling. Do I need to repeat myself?”
“Is this what you want, or did Pei Xiaoyu ask you to talk to me?”
“It doesn’t matter whose idea it was. Whether Xiaoyu came to me or not, my answer is still the same. If you think you can bring that stray omega into this family, forget it.”
That was exactly the kind of talk that made Xu Qingyan hate dealing with her. She wanted nothing more than to sew Xu Hong’s mouth shut. There was never a word she wanted to hear from her.
“And if I do marry her, what can you do about it? I’m no longer the little A you used to control. You’re old now. If you think you still have the power to manipulate me, maybe keep dreaming.”
Xu Hong was furious. Her grip on the couch tightened until her veins stood out visibly.
“This is how you speak to your own mother?”
Xu Qingyan had been waiting for that line. It was the same one she had heard all her life. Every time she resisted, Xu Hong would throw that sentence at her like it was some kind of royal decree. As if saying it meant she had to obey.
But things were different now. Xu Qingyan had the power. Xu Hong couldn’t use those old tricks anymore.
“There’s nothing left for us to talk about. If you’re lonely, go find an omega. Oh, wait, you’re still married. If you start seeing someone else now, that’s cheating. You’ll have to split the family assets. I’m sure you wouldn’t like that.”
Then she added, “Oh right, I almost forgot. Xu Corporation is mine now. If you do cheat, your share of the assets is basically nothing. You might end up spending the rest of your life begging under a bridge. But since we’re mother and daughter, if you come begging one day, maybe I’ll consider helping you with retirement.”
Xu Hong was so furious she nearly coughed up blood. But now, she couldn’t out-argue her, couldn’t overpower her, and could only keep up the pretense of authority with her words.
“Fine. You’ve changed. Gotten stronger. I admit I can’t deal with you, the current Chairwoman of Xu Corporation. But dealing with a mere omega? That’s still easy for me.”
As soon as she heard the threat aimed at the omega, Xu Qingyan’s expression turned ice-cold.
“What do you mean by that, Xu Hong?”
Xu Hong laughed.
“That tone. So anxious. You really do care a lot about that wild omega. I honestly don’t understand your taste. How is she better than Xiaoyu? In looks, she’s inferior. In ability, she’s nowhere near Xiaoyu. She’s an omega who was about to be sold off by her own father. What about her attracts you so much? If it’s about pheromone level, she loses again. So what is it? Do you like her because she’s naive and stupid?”
What Xu Qingyan could never tolerate was anyone speaking badly about her omega in front of her. Even joking was off-limits. She herself wasn’t allowed to speak that way, and certainly no one else had the right.
“She’s not stupid, and she’s not naive. If you think she is, that just means you’re the one who’s ignorant.”
Xu Qingyan didn’t bother saving face for Xu Hong.
“If you weren’t so ignorant, would I be sitting in the chairwoman’s seat of Xu Corporation right now? If you weren’t so ignorant, how could I have overthrown you?”
Hearing that, Xu Hong burst out cursing.
That incident was the greatest humiliation of her life. Back then, Xu Qingyan had only been in her early twenties. Yet in just a few short years, she had quietly dismantled Xu Hong’s entire network of influence. She had even managed to pull Xu Hong’s closest allies to her side without raising suspicion. By the time Xu Hong realized what was happening, Xu Corporation was already under Xu Qingyan’s complete control.
In the end, she had no choice but to announce her early retirement to save face, claiming she was handing the company over to Xu Qingyan. But everyone knew the truth. If she hadn’t stepped down voluntarily, all her hard-earned reputation would have been destroyed anyway.
“It looks like you really do care about that little tramp,” Xu Hong said, not even angry anymore, but strangely pleased. “I’ll admit, I underestimated you. I shouldn’t have let my guard down. But as they say, the older the ginger, the spicier it gets.”
“I taught you this myself, didn’t I? Never expose your weaknesses to your enemies. Even if you truly love that little tramp, when you’re facing an opponent, you should pretend you don’t care at all. You’re still too young. People who can’t control their emotions can’t be true leaders.”
Xu Qingyan understood that. In the past, she might have agreed. She might have kept her feelings hidden. But now things were different. She had the power to protect the person she loved.
And if she had the ability to protect, why should she stay silent while others insulted the one she cared about?
“So what you’re saying is, you really plan to go after Li Ge?”
Xu Hong noticed the shift in Xu Qingyan’s voice. It was full of confidence, with no hint of fear. It was completely different from before, and it made her hesitate.
“That’s the question I should be asking you. Do you seriously intend to marry her into the Xu family? I absolutely won’t allow an omega so beneath our status to enter this family.”
“I’m not asking for your opinion. I’m telling you. It’s a notification, not a discussion.”
Xu Qingyan let out a cold laugh.
“I already said this back at home. She doesn’t need to marry into the Xu family. I’ll move into hers. If you don’t like it or find it offensive, then go ahead and remove me from the Xu family registry. Actually, that sounds great. I’ve been wanting to change my surname anyway.”
“Once I do, I’ll adopt someone with the Xu name, or maybe you and Dad can have another child and raise her from birth to become your puppet. Just don’t expect me to be that obedient ever again.”
Her final words came through clenched teeth. Xu Hong had planned for her to be the perfect puppet. By all expectations, she would have ended up that way too.
But then the omega walked into her life.
That person added vibrant color to her otherwise dull and lifeless world, gave her something to pursue, gave her her own thoughts and desires. No longer did she live according to Xu Hong’s expectations and commands.
Just as she finished speaking, Li Ge stepped out of the bathroom, freshly showered. Hearing the sound, Xu Qingyan turned her head and looked straight at her.
“Done showering?”
Li Ge nodded.
“Yes.”
Hearing Xu Qingyan’s gentle tone, Xu Hong instantly flew into a rage.
“You’re with that wild omega right now?”
Xu Qingyan found Xu Hong’s voice unbearable. Without another word, she ended the call and stood up to head toward the bathroom.
