The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 41
Xu Qingyan slowly lifted her tired eyes. Her entire head was nestled into the crook of Li Ge’s shoulder, so close that her eyelashes brushed against the Omega’s pale skin. A faint jasmine scent lingered in the air.
Xu Qingyan genuinely liked that fragrance. It relaxed her so much she nearly fell asleep right then and there.
But she had no intention of moving. Instead, she tightened her hold around Li Ge’s waist and pretended to be asleep, using the opportunity to nuzzle her neck gently.
Li Ge felt a tingling warmth spread through her body. She knew Xu Qingyan was doing it on purpose. Unable to endure it anymore, she finally lost her patience and shoved her forcefully away.
With a loud thud, Xu Qingyan hit the ground.
She didn’t react right away. Her head buzzed from the fall, but she didn’t bother getting up. Instead, she curled up under the blanket she had dragged down with her and stayed on the floor.
Li Ge pushed herself up from the bed, muttering under her breath. But when she turned and saw Xu Qingyan still lying there without moving, she figured she must be faking. She leaned over the edge of the bed and called out.
“Director Xu, the bed is barely half a meter off the floor. No one’s dying from that kind of fall. Stop pretending. And even if you really got hurt, I can’t afford to compensate you. My body is already sold to you. If something does happen, I’ll just tell the media that you died from exhaustion. Nothing to do with me. And by the way, you’ve slept with me twice now. If anything happens, make sure to settle the payment first.”
Even after saying all that, Xu Qingyan still didn’t move.
She lay on her back, staring at the ceiling. Deep down, she actually felt a little happy. This girl was finally getting smarter. She could even plan for what to do if something went wrong. Even if she wasn’t around to protect her, Li Ge probably wouldn’t be taken advantage of easily.
Still feeling a little worn out, Xu Qingyan closed her eyes and drifted toward sleep.
Li Ge stared at her from the bed for a long while. When she saw that Xu Qingyan still didn’t move, she became uneasy. She knew she hadn’t used that much force. There was no way someone could get seriously hurt from that. Besides, Xu Qingyan had fallen while wrapped in a blanket, so she was well cushioned.
Even so, Li Ge was still worried something might actually have happened. She sat up and slowly moved to the edge of the bed, then peeked over the side.
Xu Qingyan was lying there with her eyes closed, completely still.
Li Ge’s heart skipped a beat.
She immediately got out of bed and sat beside her. Mimicking what she had seen doctors do on TV, she held two fingers under Xu Qingyan’s nose to check for breathing. She felt the soft warmth of air and let out a long sigh of relief.
She glared at her, frustrated by the unnecessary scare. Just as she was about to get up and maybe give her a good kick, Xu Qingyan suddenly opened her eyes and grabbed her. In an instant, Li Ge fell forward into her arms, her body sprawled half over Xu Qingyan’s.
“You did that on purpose.”
Xu Qingyan replied calmly, “I really did feel dizzy just now. It wasn’t intentional.”
Li Ge’s mouth twitched. “Director Xu, when you say that, do you even believe yourself?”
“I believe it.”
“You clearly did it on purpose.”
Xu Qingyan didn’t bother arguing and simply admitted it. “Yes, I did. So, does that mean you were actually worried I might have died from the fall?”
Li Ge shot back immediately. “Wow, Director Xu, I didn’t know you were so full of yourself. I was only worried because you haven’t paid my sponsorship fee yet. If you died, I’d be left with nothing. So if you really plan to die, at least settle that bill first.”
Xu Qingyan smiled and traced her hand up along Li Ge’s spine until she reached her head, gently patting her like soothing a child.
“My money is all yours. Even if I don’t die, it’s still yours.”
Li Ge should have been angry, especially since Xu Qingyan had just admitted she did it on purpose. But for some reason, when she heard that line, her frustration melted away.
“Are you trying to talk like you’re comforting a child? Saying your money is mine? If that were true, why is the company still under your name?”
Clearly, it was just sweet talk. Xu Qingyan probably thought all Omegas fell for that kind of line.
Well, she had picked the wrong person. Li Ge wasn’t buying it.
She was not like those Omegas who only knew how to cry and act delicate. If not for the money involved, she would have bought a pack of rat poison and stuffed it down Xu Qingyan’s throat long ago.
“You want the whole Xu Corporation?”
Li Ge blinked in surprise. She didn’t expect Xu Qingyan to actually ask something like that, and with such calmness too.
“Director Xu, if I said I wanted it, would you actually give it to me?”
Xu Qingyan didn’t respond right away. She thought for a moment, then reached up to gently caress the Omega’s cheek, her eyes full of emotion.
Li Ge felt uneasy. The gesture made her uncomfortable, like something had shifted inside her, but she couldn’t put it into words. In the end, she brushed Xu Qingyan’s hand off her face.
Still, Xu Qingyan continued the conversation as if nothing had happened.
“I can’t give you the company right now. You’re not strong enough to go up against Xu Hong. If I handed it over now, you’d get eaten alive by the old foxes in the boardroom. There would be nothing left of you.”
So it was just talk after all.
Li Ge smirked. “Let me guess. Those Omegas you kept before probably loved hearing this kind of thing from you. Well, sorry, I’m not one of them. And I’m not a child either.”
Xu Qingyan was silent for a moment.
“If you really want it, agree to one condition. And it’s yours.”
Li Ge froze.
Her heart started pounding as if something had broken loose inside her. It beat louder and faster until it drowned out everything else.
Even though she knew Xu Qingyan was probably just saying this to manipulate her, even though she didn’t know how many other Omegas had heard these exact words, a small part of her still wanted to believe this time was different.
“What’s the condition?”
Xu Qingyan gently stroked her back and said softly, “If I tell you, you have to promise to agree. No changing your mind. Can you do that?”
Li Ge’s heart beat even faster. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, from her ears to her cheeks. It felt just like those dramatic confession scenes between young lovers.
But she quickly came to her senses.
A company as big as Xu Corporation was backed by the entire Xu family. Even if Xu Qingyan was currently the chairwoman, it wasn’t something she could hand over on a whim.
And in a powerful family like that, nothing was decided by one person.
Xu Qingyan herself lived cautiously within that family. Giving the company away wasn’t something she could decide on her own.
Li Ge sat up and looked down at the woman beneath her. Suddenly, she felt ridiculous for almost believing her. For a moment, she had actually felt moved.
“Director Xu, I may be young and naïve, but I’m not so naive that I’ll believe everything you say. You should save those lines for the others you’ve kept. There’s no need to use them on me.”
Xu Qingyan frowned, hurt. Even though she had expected that Li Ge would not believe her, it still stung to hear it out loud.
“I haven’t kept anyone else. You’re the only Omega in my life.”
Li Ge’s breath caught.
In that moment, it felt like her heart had stopped beating. Even her breathing paused. Time itself seemed to freeze.
She stared at Xu Qingyan’s serious expression, momentarily unsure if she was dreaming or hearing things. There was no denying it—when Xu Qingyan said sweet things with such a calm and sincere face, it was incredibly attractive. Li Ge thought that any Omega who heard words like that from her would find it hard not to feel something.
But how could she believe Xu Qingyan’s words?
If she really was the only Omega in Xu Qingyan’s life, then why had she seen her at that hotel?
What kind of decent Alpha would even go to a place like that?
Or maybe, Xu Qingyan had realized her usual sweet talk wasn’t enough to convince the Omegas she kept, so now she was trying a different method.
If that was her strategy, then it had clearly worked. Even Li Ge had almost fallen for it.
Xu Qingyan noticed that Li Ge was staring at her without speaking. She gently reached out and touched her soft cheek, her voice low and gentle.
“I don’t have anyone else. You’re the only one. And you’ll be the last.”
Li Ge slowly snapped out of it. She smiled faintly, the corners of her lips curling up.
“Director Xu, how many Omegas have you said that to? I’m the only one you’re keeping? So what does that mean? The others were just one-night stands?”
Xu Qingyan could tell she was overthinking things and tried to explain further.
“No. I don’t have any Omegas around me. You’re the only one.”
Li Ge responded without hesitation.
“I see. So you’re avoiding Omegas because you’re afraid they’ll end up pregnant. That means you’ve been going for other types instead—Alphas or Betas, maybe?”
“No,” Xu Qingyan replied calmly.
“Then where’s your proof?”
Xu Qingyan had no way to prove it. This kind of thing wasn’t something you could just show evidence for. Seeing how Li Ge kept pressing, she couldn’t help but smile a little.
Li Ge noticed that and froze on the spot.
This was the first time she had ever seen Xu Qingyan smile. Usually, when they were together, she either had no expression or looked stern or angry. She had never once smiled. It always made her seem cold and intimidating.
But when she smiled, she looked completely different. There was a warmth in her eyes that made her seem gentle and approachable. With that face, she was almost unrecognizable from her usual self.
“What are you laughing at? Was what I said that funny?”
Xu Qingyan asked softly, “Are you asking me all this because you’re worried, I’ve been with other Omegas for one-night stands? Or because you’re afraid there’s someone else by my side?”
Li Ge’s heart skipped a beat, and her face instantly turned red. It felt like boiling water had surged through her veins. She would never admit to thinking such a thing.
“No way,” she snapped. “Director Xu, you’re seriously overestimating yourself. I was just asking. Whether you have someone else or a dozen people outside, it has nothing to do with me.”
Xu Qingyan smiled again.
“If it really had nothing to do with you, you wouldn’t be asking me these questions. Li Ge, you care about me, don’t you? Otherwise, when I didn’t get up after falling earlier, you wouldn’t have rushed over to check if I was okay.”
Li Ge thought Xu Qingyan was being shameless again, but this time she couldn’t bring herself to argue. She really had worried about her earlier. That part was true, and she couldn’t deny it.
Still, she refused to admit she cared.
“I already explained it,” she muttered. “I was worried you might die before paying me. If you dropped dead, I wouldn’t even have a place to cry.”
Xu Qingyan didn’t want to hear that kind of answer. She pulled Li Ge into her arms and said softly, “It’s written clearly in the agreement. As my kept lover, you need to learn to say things that make your sponsor happy. That’s what a good companion does.”
Li Ge couldn’t break free from the hug. Frustrated, she leaned forward and bit hard into Xu Qingyan’s collarbone.
Xu Qingyan hissed in pain but didn’t push her away. Instead, she asked, “Just one bite? Are you sure you don’t want to leave a few more?”
That way, if other Omegas saw the bite marks, they would know she belonged to someone. Then Xu Qingyan could clearly tell them, “This is from my Omega. Stay away, or she’ll get upset.”
But Li Ge didn’t bite again.
She wanted to, but she suspected Xu Qingyan had let her do it on purpose. If she bit again and Xu Qingyan used that as an excuse to do something, she would lose the upper hand.
“I’m not falling for that,” she said. “If I bite again, you’ll use it as an excuse to take advantage of me.”
“I won’t.”
As she said that, Xu Qingyan casually began to unbutton the front of her shirt.
“You can bite wherever you want,” she said softly. “I won’t stop you.”
Li Ge’s eyes widened when she saw what was underneath. Her cheeks flushed even deeper, as red as a ripe pomegranate.
She couldn’t believe how shameless Xu Qingyan was. This was ridiculous. Sure, it was nighttime now, but that didn’t make it okay.
Li Ge had to admit, Xu Qingyan had a truly amazing figure, curves in all the right places, firm and well-defined. Especially her chest, which was almost dangerously tempting.
But so, what?
She wasn’t going to surrender just because of a nice body, so what if Xu Qingyan had curves? Li Ge’s body might be smaller, but it was still soft and pleasant to the touch.
“You’re disgusting.”
“Not going to bite anymore?”
Who would want to bite a place like that?
Li Ge was sure Xu Qingyan was trying to use her looks to manipulate her. She thought if she showed off her body, Li Ge would lose confidence and feel insecure.
But she wasn’t going to fall for that trick.
Just as she was trying to regain control of her thoughts, Xu Qingyan suddenly spoke again in a completely serious tone.
“During those times when we were together, didn’t you always love touching me there? Why stop now?”
Li Ge’s eyes widened and her voice rose.
“Who, who said I liked that? Stop making things up!”
