The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 28
The incident caused quite a stir. As soon as the noise broke out, the artists who had arrived nervously for auditions came out one after another to see what was happening. However, the door to the room remained closed, and another director was standing in the hallway. After taking a quick glance, everyone returned to the audition room on their own, sensing it was not something they should get involved in.
By this time, Director Li had already dragged Li Dahai out of the room by force. Li Dahai was covered in bruises, his face swollen and discolored. He was crying out in pain while still finding the strength to curse.
“Xu Qingyan, you crazy woman. You’re just like that old witch Xu Hong. You mother and daughter are both filthy lunatics. Just wait. A gentleman never seeks revenge in haste. Ten years is never too late!”
Director Li’s expression was visibly filled with disgust. He had no interest in getting tangled with someone like this. Anyone who could make Xu Qingyan hate them to such an extent was unlikely to be a good person. After witnessing that violent scene earlier, he was even more convinced that Li Dahai was nothing but trash.
And since he was trash, Director Li saw no reason to help him any further.
After dragging him into an outer room, Director Li let go abruptly, letting Li Dahai fall hard onto the floor.
“Aaah!”
Li Dahai almost lost his soul from the pain. Struggling to get up, he pointed at Director Li and screamed.
“What the hell is wrong with you? You dare throw me like that? Do you have a death wish?”
Director Li rolled his eyes so hard it was almost visible from the back of his head. He was speechless and did not want to waste a single word on someone like this. Still, being cursed made him angry, and he snapped back coldly.
“You must be the Director Li from Feiyue that Mr. Wang mentioned, right? Do you know where you are right now? This is not your little kingdom at Feiyue. Let me give you some friendly advice. If you want to keep your reputation in this industry, you had better leave quietly. If something really happens, there’s no undo button in life.”
Li Dahai sneered with scorn.
“Are you threatening me? Who do you think you are? That crazy woman Xu Qingyan. Does she really think I’m afraid of her? If she hadn’t ambushed me from behind, I would have beaten her to death!”
Director Li heard this, rolled his eyes again, and walked out without saying another word.
Li Dahai was left alone.
The longer he thought about it, the angrier he became. After picking himself up from the ground, he kicked over the nearest chair with a loud crash. The sound startled a passing staff member, who paused by the door, considering whether to go in and see what had happened. But the moment the door opened a crack, Li Dahai exploded with curses and drove the staff member away with a verbal barrage.
The staff member, frowning, closed the door behind them. Through the closed door, Li Dahai’s vulgar curses could still be heard, growing more offensive with every sentence. The staff member muttered that he was insane, rolled his eyes, and walked off without looking back.
Once he was alone again, Li Dahai pulled out his phone. After searching through his contacts for a while, he finally found the number saved under the name “Pei.”
The call tone rang nearly ten times before someone finally picked up.
“Hello, this is Secretary Zhao speaking. Director Pei is currently tied up with company matters. May I ask who’s calling?”
“This is Li Dahai. I need to speak to Director Pei immediately. It’s urgent. I don’t have a second to waste!”
Secretary Zhao hesitated but spoke honestly.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Li. Director Pei is currently in a meeting. If it’s urgent, I suggest waiting until he finishes. Even if I hand the phone over right now, he won’t answer.”
Li Dahai had no choice. As anxious as he was, he still needed help. No matter how desperate the situation, he could not afford to offend the person he was trying to rely on.
“Alright. Please make sure to tell Director Pei to call me the moment his meeting ends. It’s extremely urgent. I really need to speak to him right away.”
Secretary Zhao agreed and hung up the call.
Li Dahai didn’t leave. He stayed seated in the room, waiting.
About half an hour later, his phone rang.
It was like a drowning man finding a rope. He answered immediately.
“Hello, Director Pei? It’s Li Dahai. Do you remember me?”
Pei Yuan replied with an indifferent tone.
“Oh, it’s you, Mr. Li. I’m quite busy at the moment. Please be quick.”
His voice clearly hinted at impatience and a desire to end the call.
Li Dahai knew that Pei Yuan had never respected him. Compared to a family-owned giant like the Pei Group, his company, Feiyue, was barely worth a glance. In Pei Yuan’s eyes, Feiyue probably wasn’t even worth mentioning.
But right now, Li Dahai had no other options. Li Ge had run away, and he had no way of explaining that to his business partners. If he couldn’t find a solution soon, he was finished.
Pei Yuan was his last chance.
“Director Pei, here’s the situation. I’ve recently lost a few projects. I finally found someone who could help, but then something went wrong at the last minute. I’m completely out of options. I came to you because I really need your help.”
Normally, Pei Yuan would not even entertain requests like this. People came to him asking for favors in two ways: they were either direct, or they beat around the bush. But in the end, it was always about money.
He had only agreed to work with Li Dahai in the past because he saw ambition in him. Li Dahai was like him, willing to sacrifice anything for profit. But until now, Li Dahai had never asked for anything. This sudden call, especially in such a desperate tone, meant something must have gone seriously wrong.
“You said you lost projects? What exactly happened?”
Li Dahai replied, “If I remember correctly, Director Pei, you have some connections with the Xu family, right?”
The moment the Xu family was mentioned, Pei Yuan’s expression darkened. His tone grew colder.
“What are you getting at? Why are you bringing up the Xu family? Are the projects you lost related to them?”
Li Dahai didn’t notice the change in tone and spoke bluntly.
“Yes, exactly. The project I lost this time is related to the Xu family. Specifically, it’s Xu Qingyan, the daughter of Xu Hong. She’s like a mad dog.”
The call suddenly fell into silence.
More than ten seconds passed before Pei Yuan finally spoke.
“Your business has nothing to do with her. So how did you end up crossing her? I do have old ties with the Xu family, but only with Xu Hong. As for her daughter, I’ve only met her once. She’s very capable. In fact, she might even be sharper than Xu Hong herself. What exactly did you do to provoke her?”
Hearing that Pei Yuan had connections with the Xu family, Li Dahai’s eyes lit up. But when he heard that there was no actual relationship between Pei Yuan and Xu Qingyan, the little hope he had ignited was instantly extinguished.
Still, he couldn’t tell Pei Yuan the truth. If he spilled everything, and Pei Yuan understood the full story, he might lose any chance of help.
Li Dahai paused for a moment, then said, “Director Pei, I really don’t know why she’s targeting me like this. I’m still completely confused. Like you said just now, we have no overlap in business at all. But somehow, out of nowhere, that crazy girl came at me like a rabid dog and ruined four of my projects. You know how critical those four projects were to me. They were already in the mid-development phase. Now, thanks to her, all my partners have pulled out. She has completely cut off my path forward, Director Pei.”
Pei Yuan was no fool. From Li Dahai’s tone, he could already tell that the story was being twisted. His voice turned a bit cold.
“Mr. Li, I understand those projects were important to you. But you should also know how I work. I have one rule. If someone wants my help, I expect to be told the full truth. Don’t you agree?”
“Director Pei, I…”
“It’s just the two of us here. If there’s something you’re holding back, now’s the time to come clean. There’s no need to hide anything from me.”
Li Dahai was momentarily speechless.
If he told the truth and said that Xu Qingyan only did this because of his disloyal daughter, would Pei Yuan even believe him? It would sound like a joke.
Besides, Pei Yuan was a seasoned businessman. There was no way he would believe something that simple.
But he also could not admit that it was because he had threatened Xu Qingyan. If Pei Yuan found out, he definitely would not agree to help.
After thinking it over, Li Dahai said, “Director Pei, I’ll be honest. Here’s the situation. I have a daughter who is an A-level omega. You may have heard of her. Xu Qingyan took a liking to her. I refused her, and then this happened. I swear I’m telling the truth. If you don’t believe me, you can have someone investigate. That crazy girl didn’t just take my daughter. She also beat me up. I’m covered in bruises right now. Director Pei, please help me.”
Pei Yuan’s attitude shifted instantly. His previously indifferent tone sharpened.
“You’re saying Xu Hong’s daughter is now involved with your daughter?”
Hearing that change in tone, Li Dahai felt a spark of hope and quickly replied.
“Yes, yes, that’s exactly it. She’s with my daughter now. No, I mean, she took my daughter by force. She even brought her to an audition today. I only went to the set to bring Xiaoge home, but when Xu Qingyan saw me, she beat me almost to death.”
Pei Yuan did not respond immediately. He covered the phone’s receiver with his hand, looked up, and called out to the young omega who had just entered the office.
“Xiaoyu, why are you at the company today?”
“Miss Pei.”
The secretary greeted her politely. Pei Xiaoyu waved a hand, signaling that formality was not necessary, then walked over to Pei Yuan and wrapped an arm around his neck.
“What, I can’t come to the office now?”
Pei Yuan chuckled a few times.
“You’re the apple of my eye. I just didn’t want you coming out so soon after getting off the plane yesterday. You should be resting at home.”
Pei Xiaoyu noticed that Pei Yuan was still holding the phone tightly and asked with curiosity.
“Dad, who are you talking to?”
“Just a business contact. You wouldn’t know him.”
“Why does that matter? If he’s your friend, I’ll have to meet him eventually, won’t I?”
Pei Yuan was at a loss for words, unsure how to explain.
