The Omega Becomes The Zerg Queen - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Soothing
To avoid startling the Queen, the insectoid warships overhead intentionally retracted all weaponry and throttled their speed, descending toward the surface with a gentle, graceful posture.
As soon as they touched down, Lucius rushed out impatiently. Behind him, tens of thousands of soldier bugs marched out in formation. Under the command of absolute obedience, their synchronized footsteps made not a single stray sound.
The young man wore a snow-white priestly robe, every inch of which was embroidered with exquisite, silver-white hidden patterns. The collar and cuffs were adorned with intricate golden blooms and the insignia of the Zerg race. Pale gold pendants were layered within the folds of the robe’s hem, appearing and disappearing with his stride, letting out a crisp, rhythmic clinking.
Lucius strode toward Su Lili, his pale gold hair caught by the wind, tracing a graceful arc in the air.
Walking upon the gray, desolate earth, he looked like an angel descending from the heavens.
Before him stood a girl whose black hair cascaded down like a waterfall, shimmering with the luster of the night sky. Her deep eyes were like the brightest stars in the heavens—mysterious and alluring. Her exquisite features were so flawless that even the harshest judge could not find a single defect, easily satisfying every Zerg’s total imagination of beauty. Standing there, she looked like a goddess descended to save the world, yet also like a siren floating up from the sea to enchant all living beings.
This is our newborn Queen. Lucius gazed at Su Lili with a gaze both tender and steadfast; in his emerald eyes, there was no room for anyone else.
His usually calm face was now filled with an uncontrollable, suppressed fanaticism.
As he approached, the surface of a second card gradually emerged.
The edges of the card were framed with golden-green vine patterns, set against a background of a deep blue ocean. A man had his right hand raised as if to embrace the sky, while his left hand reached forward slightly, bracing against the ground. He sat elegantly in the seawater, his pale gold hair entangled with a pure white, semi-transparent priestly robe soaked by the water. The wet fabric outlined the smooth, tight lines of his abdominal muscles before they vanished into the shadows.
He had removed his monocle, revealing eyes filled with a tender, lingering affection—the azure waters within them enough to drown a person. He tilted his chin up slightly, looking forward with a smile in an inviting posture.
Unlike Zephyrus, the young man before her didn’t look like an Alpha; instead, he resembled the high-ranking Betas from her previous life who toyed with people’s hearts.
In her past life, Su Lili had met with Betas. These “ordinary people” or “cogs in the machine” in the eyes of Alphas had to pay several times the wealth and effort of an Alpha just to earn a single meeting with her.
Even so, the Omega Protection Association would never allow anything to come of it. No matter how many times they met, it remained just a meeting.
The names of these Betas—prominent and sought-after in the eyes of the public—would never even appear on Su Lili’s list of marriage candidates.
Yet they remained tireless, eager to meet her, treating the encounter as a crowning achievement in their illustrious resumes.
But in truth, compared to those arrogant, supercilious Alphas, Su Lili preferred meeting with Betas.
Unlike Alphas who treated her as property or a trophy to flaunt their power, Betas were gentler in character. When talking to them, she could occasionally feel the illusion of being treated as an equal.
Below the image, the young man’s data was equally staggering:
-
Name: Lucius
-
Race: Zerg
-
Constitution: SS-grade
-
Spirit: SS-grade
-
Favorability: ★★☆☆☆ (Acquaintance)
-
Loyalty: ★★★★★ (Faithful unto death)
SS-grade Spirit was truly rare among the Zerg. Most Zerg were “Berserkers” who preferred fist-to-flesh combat; a young man with SS-grade Spirit was as rare as a Mage suddenly appearing in a crowd of warriors. What was even more remarkable was that his Constitution was equally powerful.
These Zerg are all so powerful… does it make me, their Queen, look a bit useless?
Su Lili frowned as she looked at her own E-grade Constitution.
However, seeing that the Loyalty was once again maxed out from the start, the girl blinked, feeling very satisfied with the “bugs'” devotion.
The pale-colored youth soon reached the Queen’s side.
He knelt on one knee, his pale hair spilling like moonlight across the ground. The handsome youth reverently cradled her porcelain-white toes, gently wiping away the dust. He then lowered himself further in a perfect military salute.
“Welcome to your descent, Her Majesty the Queen.”
“Priest Lucius sends his greetings.”
The young man raised his head, his eyes burning as he stared at the girl. Even his cool tone could not hide the fanaticism and excitement; his voice was like a roaring fire beneath the ice. “The Queen above all! Long live the Zerg!”
Following his salute, every Zerg soldier present knelt on one knee, right fist over their left breast. Their vow pierced the clouds:
“The Queen above all! Long live the Zerg!”
In her previous life, Su Lili had seen Imperial military parades during festivals, and they were always composed and orderly.
But seeing this scene unfold in reality, she truly understood the weight of it.
The passionate oaths of the soldier bugs echoed across the wasteland, deafeningly loud. Their fervent gazes made Su Lili feel as if she were about to melt.
The vague concept of “Queen” began to take shape, bit by bit, amidst their solemn vows and fanatical stares.
At this moment, Su Lili finally felt a slight sense of reality regarding her status as Queen.
I really have… become their King.
Wanting to respond to this sincerity and blood-boiling passion, wanting to live up to their expectations and hopes—
Su Lili’s gaze slowly swept across every bug. She raised her right hand, signaling them to rise, and channeled her remaining spiritual power. That gentle, inclusive spiritual energy slowly brushed over everyone present.
“Rise, my people.”
It was like a traveler dying of thirst in the desert finding an oasis from heaven, or a devout believer finally witnessing a miracle.
E-grade Spiritual Power Remaining: 5%
Main Quest: Ascend the Throne (15/100)] Progress: Your kindness has touched the hearts of all Zerg present. At this moment, you are the undisputed Queen in their hearts.
Zephyrus Favorability: ★★★☆☆ (Close Person) Lucius Favorability: ★★★☆☆ (Close Person)
The Queen’s spiritual power, though green and unrefined, gently soothed the damaged spiritual seas of the soldier bugs.
This left them overwhelmed by the favor.
In the recorded history of the Zerg, previous Queens were extremely stingy with their spiritual power. They usually only used it to soothe Higher Zerg when absolutely necessary. Ordinary soldier bugs were, in their eyes, merely necessary consumables of war. The birth or death of a “consumable” was never something they cared about.
These war machines, who made up the highest proportion of the Zerg, might go their entire lives without ever receiving a Queen’s spiritual soothing.
But the newborn young Queen had done it so casually and naturally. It moved them to tears.
“You are so generous and merciful,” Lucius leaned down and pressed a kiss to the back of the Queen’s hand. “The soldier bugs present will never forget your grace today.”
“It is what I should do.” The sudden intimate contact made Su Lili instinctively pull her hand back.
There was no helping it; the first lesson every Omega learned was to maintain distance from the opposite sex. Once tricked into being “marked” by someone with ill intentions, an Omega’s fate would be tragic.
Having been educated for years by the Omega Protection Academy, the girl found it difficult to adapt to these Zerg etiquettes, which she viewed as overly intimate.
“I am deeply sorry for letting you be born on such a desolate planet,” the youth retracted his hand reluctantly, his emerald eyes filled with apology. “Failing to greet you immediately and allowing you to be frightened is a dereliction of duty by the Zerg. Please, punish me.”
For some reason, Zephyrus found this scene a bit of an eyesore.
“Lucius, are you sure you want to keep the Queen exposed to such a harsh environment just to listen to your boring social platitudes? Save the apologies for later,” he interrupted coldly. “The priority is to escort the Queen back to the Hive on the Main Planet. What the King needs most now is rest.”
“It was my lack of consideration,” Lucius lowered his head. “Please follow me. Everything happened so suddenly and preparations are incomplete; the quarters on the warship are not yet perfect, so I must ask you to endure it for now.”
Before he could finish, a faint sound came from nearby. Everyone looked down to see the Great Strength Zerg emerging slowly from the ground, lifting the eggshell.
Though their intelligence was low, the Great Strength Zerg were still doing their best to do something for their King.
Maybe the Queen will need it. With that thought, they had carved a path from the center of the earth and brought the eggshell out completely intact.
The egg, white as jade, emitted a soft glow in the night sky. The surface was covered from bottom to top with complex silver patterns like climbing vines, sparkling with starlight. It didn’t look like an eggshell; it looked like an exquisite work of art.
If she hadn’t broken out of it herself, Su Lili would have praised it: What a beautiful egg.
Lucius looked at the eggshell with burning eyes. This was the birthplace of the Queen. “Such a holy relic should be enshrined in the Great Temple for all Zerg to worship.”
Hearing this, the Zerg soldiers standing behind him with bowed heads all looked up, their eyes shining as they stared at the shell, expressing their longing for this proposal through action.
The Zerg Crowd: Please, that is the King’s eggshell! Su Lili: Please, that is just an eggshell.
“There’s no need. It’s just an eggshell,” the girl refused bashfully.
Although she knew from the system that the Zerg were obsessed with the Queen, taking an eggshell for an exhibition was a bit much, wasn’t it?
The expectant eyes before her dimmed. Shoulders that were once straight slumped slightly. The fervent faces were now full of disappointment, and even the hair on their heads seemed to droop. Su Lili even saw a glint of tears in the corners of some soldiers’ eyes, as if they were poor puppies rejected by their master.
Ah… the words of refusal were swallowed back down.
“Then… we can take it back first. Other matters can be discussed later.”
Upon hearing this, the soldiers puffed their chests out again. They couldn’t help but fantasize: The King said ‘take it back first,’ so there’s room for negotiation. As long as we perform well and earn points, maybe we can ask the King for this reward later!
The soldier bugs were ready to go, more enthusiastic than when they hunted exotic beasts, as if they had already seen a glorious future.
If soldier bugs had tails, it would be a scene of a pack of dogs wagging them crazily.
Sensing they had done something meaningful, the Great Strength Zerg raised their forearms, lifting the eggshell slightly—like children showing off a plucked flower to their mother.
Looking at these large bugs who had accompanied her birth, Su Lili asked the youth beside her, “Can we… take them back to the Hive together?”
“They are merely Low-tier species,” Lucius glanced at the bugs.
Humble status, low intelligence, clumsy bodies—they couldn’t even speak a full sentence. Yet they were lucky enough to witness the Queen’s birth. Now, were they to continue basking in the Queen’s radiance?
The suppression inherent to a Higher species made these Great Strength Zerg look like ants in his eyes.
But this was the Queen’s wish.
The youth eventually complied.
“Your Majesty, I shall follow your will.”
“Bring them along,” Lucius nodded slightly to the adjutant.
