The Noble Lady Without Magic Aims to Become an Adventurer! - Chapter 97
“Marloa, make sure to head to the usual room tomorrow morning,” Revine-sensei instructed.
“Understood, Sensei. Should I only bring items for the adventure?”
“Yes, bring what you’ll need for a long journey. Anything missing can be purchased in towns or villages along the way.”
As Revine-sensei spoke about tomorrow’s plans, Fars’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Marloa, you’re leaving tomorrow?”
“Yes,” I replied with a smile, excited for what lay ahead. Fars, however, looked slightly forlorn.
“I see… I wish I could join you, but it can’t be helped. When I rise in rank, I’ll come find you. Until then, enjoy your journey.”
I chuckled. “I’ll be waiting, though I won’t hold my breath. Besides, those young ladies over there don’t seem eager to let you go.”
Several girls, who had clearly been trying to get Fars’s attention, lingered near the balcony entrance. Seeing them, both Revine-sensei and I exchanged knowing smiles.
“We shouldn’t keep them waiting too long. Let’s return to the hall,” Revine-sensei said. “Fars, I’ll expect a letter from you.”
“Yes, Sensei!” Fars replied energetically.
When we returned to the hall, Fars was immediately surrounded by noble ladies.
Meanwhile, Revine-sensei resumed his duties as a guard, and I moved to the edge of the room to quietly observe the festivities.
Soon after, Father finished his rounds and came to join me. From across the room, Fars noticed us and politely excused himself from the ladies, returning to our side.
Watching Fars interact with them, I was impressed by how gentlemanly and composed he was. His skills as an attendant were clearly shining through.
“Shall we head home?” Father asked.
“Of course. Fars, shouldn’t you be looking for a future wife?”
“Master, you jest. I have no interest in any of them,” Fars replied smoothly.
His bluntness surprised me. Perhaps being so popular had dulled his enthusiasm. With Fars escorting us, we left the graduation party and returned home.
Once back at the estate, Fars slipped back into attendant mode and prepared tea in the salon.
“Fars, do you have work tomorrow?”
“I’ve taken the day off. Don’t worry; I’ll escort you to the palace. Have you finished preparing for the journey?”
“Mostly. I’ve packed my usual camping gear, some spare clothes, and…”
As I listed my preparations, Fars’s expression grew increasingly concerned.
“…My lady, let’s double-check everything together,” he said firmly.
Without waiting for a reply, he left the salon and returned with Anna. The three of us went to my room to inspect my belongings.
Anna seemed intent on including dresses, but her sense of preparation didn’t align with the practicalities of an adventurer’s journey.
“Seriously, were you planning to leave with just this? While your camping gear is fine, you’re missing several essentials,” Fars scolded.
He began directing Anna to gather the missing items and pack them into the backpack Arnold-senpai had crafted for me. The bag was proving invaluable—its capacity made it perfect for traveling, though carrying it would be no small feat for anyone else.
Fars even added skincare and haircare products, as well as additional food supplies. When I tried to leave those behind, insisting I didn’t need them as an adventurer, both Fars and Anna looked exasperated.
“You can’t just give up on being a woman!” Fars scolded.
In the end, Fars repacked everything neatly and placed the bag by the closet.
“Marloa, you’re planning to train tomorrow before leaving, right? I’ll join you, so make sure to get some rest.”
“Alright. Thank you, Fars.”
I prepared for bed and fell asleep quickly.
The next morning, as usual, I headed to the training grounds. To my surprise, both Fars and Reco were already there. It was rare to see Reco so early.
The three of us began with a run, followed by push-ups and other light exercises before moving on to sparring.
Fars’s swordsmanship had noticeably improved thanks to his time in the knights, while I incorporated the magic-and-sword techniques I’d developed during training with Duro-san.
Both Fars and Reco were caught off guard by my approach but found it intriguing and fun. They said it was inspiring.
We almost lost track of time during training. Rushing, we changed clothes and headed to the dining hall, where Father and Terra were waiting. We shared breakfast while discussing the previous day, then I returned to my room to change into my travel attire.
“Father, I’m heading off now. Please send any messages via magic courier, and I’ll make sure to send souvenirs from each place I visit.”
“…Take care of yourself,” Father said solemnly.
“Be safe, Sister. I doubt anyone could best you, but still, stay vigilant,” Terra added.
“Thank you, Terra. I’ll write to you.”
After hugging my family and waving goodbye, I climbed into the carriage. Fars followed, carrying my luggage.
We set off for the palace.
For some reason, the conversation between Fars and me grew more sporadic as we neared our destination.
We got off the carriage in front of the royal palace’s drop-off area.
“…Fars, I’ll be off now.”
“…Yeah. Do your best. If anything happens, call for me immediately. I’ll come to get you.”
“Alright. I will.”
I took my luggage from Fars. As he headed toward the dormitory, I walked toward the Zero Division’s quarters.
“Good morning!”
When I opened the door and greeted everyone, I found Captain Jennice, Vice-Captain Marco, Hendrick, and Lydia seated as usual.
Professor Revine—no, Allen—was also there, sitting on the sofa and sipping tea.
“Good morning, Professor Revine!”
“Good morning, Roa. Did you sleep well last night?”
“Yes, of course. This morning, Reco, Fars, and I had a sparring session.”
“Haha, starting the day with training, as usual. That’s so like you. By the way, from now on, call me Allen, Roa.”
“Understood, Allen-sensei.”
“Now then, may I begin?”
Captain Jennice cleared his throat and looked my way. I stood at attention, saluting in acknowledgment.
“You don’t have to be so formal,” he said, waving his hand. “Roa, from today, you’ll be working alongside Allen. His duties involve scouting for exceptional talent who might one day join the Zero Division and capturing or subduing powerful magical beasts that appear both domestically and abroad.
“In cases where extermination is difficult, the beasts are weakened and handed over to the knights. Allen can explain the details further. Also, if you need any magical tools or equipment, inform us, and we’ll have them sent. Do you have any questions?”
“Captain, is there a set time frame for this assignment?”
“There’s no fixed duration, but as a noble, you’re required to attend the royal ball hosted by the royal family once a year. Both Allen and you will return to the capital annually to report back.”
“Understood.”
“Have you prepared your belongings?”
“Yes. I’ve packed them into the backpack Yele-senpai gave me.”
“Oh my, so Yele finally learned how to make one! Allen’s backpack was crafted by me, you know? I bet Yele couldn’t stand the thought of me being able to make something he couldn’t,” Lydia said with a playful smile.
“Well then, let’s get going,” Allen said.
“Yes! Captain, I’m off!”
With that, I set off on my journey alongside Allen-sensei.
There had been so many challenges along the way, but at last, my dream was coming true.
