The Noble Lady Without Magic Aims to Become an Adventurer! - Chapter 96
Dressed in formal attire, I felt unusually nervous as I made my way to the royal palace for the graduation party. The academy’s graduation celebration was held in one of the palace’s grand ballrooms.
For commoners, attending a royal ball was said to be a dream beyond reach, making this event feel like a rare privilege—a symbolic farewell to our days as students.
Of course, there was a dress code, and the academy provided dresses for those who needed them. For noble families, this was also a chance for parents to celebrate their children’s accomplishments while mingling and exchanging greetings.
Upon our arrival, Father instructed Fars to stay by my side and not leave me unattended. Then, Father excused himself to make his rounds.
“Fars, you look especially handsome today. See how the girls are staring at you? I wouldn’t be surprised if some are plotting to approach you,” I said teasingly.
Although Fars maintained a neutral expression, his tone carried a hint of exasperation.
“Marloa, you’re the one they’re looking at. Honestly, your obliviousness is worrying.”
“They’re looking at me? What, as a potential mistress or something?”
“Who knows?”
As we chatted, Fars and I greeted classmates. Soon after, the king entered the ballroom and delivered his congratulatory remarks.
The music began, signaling the start of the party. The students quickly paired off and started dancing.
For many of the young nobles, this was their last carefree evening. Most of the young ladies had marriages planned after graduation, and the young men faced the responsibilities of marriage or careers. Tonight marked the end of their youth.
As for me, I was embarking on an adventure starting tomorrow. I wondered if Professor Revine had already arrived in the capital.
“Lady Marloa, may I have this dance?” Fars asked, extending his hand.
“Of course. It’s been a while since I’ve danced.”
“Exactly. That’s why I’ve been training my footwork for this,” he joked.
“Really? I’m not a child anymore—I won’t step on your feet!”
We laughed as we began dancing. Naturally, we moved in perfect sync, executing even the most challenging steps effortlessly.
As we finished, Fars was immediately surrounded by young ladies eager for the next dance. With a light wave, I sent him off to his admirers.
“Lady Marloa, may I have this dance?”
A familiar voice called out from behind me. Turning around, I saw Prince Sherman and Lady Eleanor standing together. I immediately curtsied.
“It’s been a while, Prince Sherman, Lady Eleanor.”
“Oh, Marloa, I’m not a queen yet. You don’t have to be so formal,” Eleanor said with a smile. “I thought we’d run into each other at the palace occasionally, but it seems that wasn’t the case.”
“Indeed,” I replied.
“Could I invite you to a tea party sometime?”
“That would be wonderful, but I’m afraid I’ll be leaving for my adventure tomorrow. I won’t be able to attend for quite some time.”
“You’re leaving tomorrow? How sad. Enjoy your journey for both of us, Marloa. Sherman and I have already danced, so now it’s your turn,” Eleanor said warmly.
“It would be an honor,” I said, accepting Prince Sherman’s hand as he escorted me to the dance floor.
“Marloa, thank you for everything. You mentioned you’re leaving tomorrow? Look to my father’s side. After our dance, I suggest you approach him,” Sherman said as we danced.
“Thank you, Your Highness. Are you referring to the knight standing beside His Majesty?”
I glanced toward the king and immediately recognized the knight in question—Professor Revine! Suppressing my excitement, I focused on finishing the dance with Prince Sherman.
“He rushed back just for this, sneaking into the event to see how much you’ve grown. Take care on your journey, Marloa. As for Fars, I’m curious to see where his path leads,” Sherman remarked with a smile.
“Thank you for your kind words. I’m sure Fars will devote himself fully to his duties as a knight,” I replied.
After the song ended, I thanked Prince Sherman with a bow and carefully avoided other dance invitations as I made my way to Professor Revine. He waved at me as I approached.
“Professor Revine, you’re here!”
“I made it just in time. You’ve grown so much,” he said warmly.
“I’ve been working hard, Professor!”
“Lady Marloa, would you honor me with a dance?”
“What about His Majesty’s protection?”
“Don’t worry. Hendrick is watching over him from an unseen position,” Revine replied with a reassuring smile.
He escorted me to the edge of the dance floor, bowed gracefully, and we began to dance.
It had been years since we last danced together. Despite that, Professor Revine’s movements were flawless.
“Professor, I thought you’d have forgotten how to dance.”
“Not at all. A teacher should maintain at least this much proficiency. Have you and Fars grown since the tournament?”
“Of course! My magical abilities have improved significantly—though my bond with toilets is something I’ll keep to myself. Hendrick and Duro-san have also taught me a lot about swordsmanship. As for Fars… I’m not so sure.”
“I’m glad to hear it. Watching you both grow has been a pleasure. Are you ready for what lies ahead?”
“Absolutely! Oh, and I’ve recently advanced to B-rank!”
Talking to Professor Revine felt so nostalgic. The dance ended far too quickly, as we had so much to share.
Fars, noticing our dance, broke away from the noble ladies and joined us after it ended.
“Professor Revine, I didn’t know you were here!”
“Fars, congratulations on graduating. Have you grown taller?”
We stepped out onto the balcony, leaving the bustling ballroom behind. The young ladies who had followed Fars seemed to take the hint and didn’t pursue us further.
On the balcony, Fars eagerly shared his recent experiences with the professor, who listened attentively.
It was then that Fars revealed something unexpected: the vice-captain of the Fourth Knights was his father. I wasn’t sure if I should have been privy to this, but Fars brushed it off, saying it was bound to come out eventually.
Professor Revine seemed unsurprised, noting the resemblance. Fars himself was now part of the Sixth Knights, a division composed of commoners.
Unlike the first four divisions, which were reserved for nobles, the Fifth and subsequent divisions consisted of commoners. However, distinguished service could earn a knight a title, granting them entry into the noble divisions—a common dream among commoner knights.
So, Fars was technically of noble lineage. After all, his mother, Violeta, was a former countess.
Still, delving further felt intrusive, so I left it at that. Fars seemed content in his current role, and his rigorous training was paying off.
It was good to see him thriving.
