The Noble Lady Without Magic Aims to Become an Adventurer! - Chapter 92
Knock, knock, knock.
“Come in.”
As I entered the room, I was greeted by the sight of an absolute mess, with various items strewn all over the floor.
Oh no. As I suspected, if either Fars or I don’t come by regularly, this place is going to attract bugs and turn into a disaster.
“It’s been a while. My work has finally settled down, so I thought I’d stop by,” I said as I began tidying up the scattered materials and alchemical items while catching up with Arnold-senpai.
“Thanks, Marloa. By the way, graduation is coming up soon, isn’t it? Who are you planning to attend the party with?”
“Well, that’s the thing. I’m thinking of asking my father.”
“Have you finished your dress yet?”
“Not yet! I completely forgot! But if I start now, I should just barely make it in time!”
Realizing my oversight, I panicked and immediately sent a magic bird to Anna so I wouldn’t forget.
Her reply came back almost instantly:
“I figured as much. I’ve already selected a few dress options. Please choose one after you return home.”
As expected of Anna. She’s such a capable maid. Relieved, I let out a sigh of relief.
“It seems the household has already prepared a dress for me. I’m so glad,” I said.
“Ha! Even someone as meticulous as Marloa forgets things sometimes.”
“I forget plenty! It’s just that Fars usually keeps me in check, so I’ve managed so far.”
Arnold-senpai seemed to have wrapped up his alchemical work and sat down on the sofa,
preparing tea. I took a seat on the opposite sofa and joined him for tea.
“By the way, how’s Fars doing? I haven’t heard from him in a while.”
“I think he’s enjoying living alone. As a rookie, he’s probably busy getting used to everything. I thought he might have been visiting your dorm from time to time.”
“Well, I’m practically living here half the time,” he admitted.
…That’s right.
Unlike Yele-senpai, Arnold-senpai isn’t particularly tidy. He gets so engrossed in his alchemy that he often forgets to eat and sleep.
“How’s work going for you, Marloa? I was surprised when I saw your name in the Zero Division. Are you safe?”
“I was captured by enemies recently. It was during a mission, so I pretended to be a helpless noblewoman. If it hadn’t been work, I’d have beaten them to a pulp right away!”
“Sounds about right. Speaking of which, I haven’t gone hunting recently. Have you?”
I shook my head.
“I want to, but work has kept me too busy.”
“Then why don’t we go during your next day off? I’m running low on materials and was thinking of going myself.”
“I’d love to! I’ve been bored with nothing but training and studying lately.”
“Great. Let’s plan for your next day off.”
With that, Arnold-senpai suddenly stood up, rummaged through a drawer, and handed me something. It was a small ring with a magical stone embedded in it.
“Senpai, what’s this?”
“This is a ring that deflects physical attacks once. You can recharge it with your magic, and it should last for several uses until the magical stone breaks. It’ll come in handy if you’re caught off guard.”
“Are you sure I can have something so amazing?”
“All I can do is create things. If I can make something to protect you, that’s good enough for me.”
“Thank you, Arnold-senpai. After the graduation party, I’ll be leaving for an adventure with Professor Revine, so I won’t be back in the capital for a while. I’ll treasure it.”
“So you’re leaving soon. That’s a bit lonely,” he said with an unusually wistful expression.
“I’m an adventurer, but also a Zero Division scout. I’ll be relying on your magical tools, Arnold-senpai. And don’t worry, I’ll send you rare materials if I find any!”
“…You’re right. I’ll make plenty of magical tools to help with your adventures and scouting.”
Arnold-senpai nodded and finished his tea. As we continued chatting, a bird flew around me. It seemed eager to discuss the dress for the graduation party.
Knowing Anna, she’s probably thrilled that I finally remembered the dress.
“I should head home. My maid is probably waiting impatiently to talk about the dress.”
“It’s a shame I can’t be your escort for the graduation party, but let’s enjoy the hunt before then. I’ll send you the details later.”
“Understood. See you soon, senpai—and I’ll come back to help clean again.”
I quickly left his room.
The graduation party, huh? I wasn’t looking forward to it, but it’s the last one, so I have to go.
Besides, Fars will be coming to our house for the event. Wait… what about Fars’ outfit? I’ll need to arrange that as soon as I get home.
Although Fars is no longer a servant of my family, he’s still an important supporter. I can’t let him wear shabby clothes.
I made my way to the carriage stand and took a ride back home.
“You’re back earlier than usual today, my lady,” the servant greeted me.
“I came home early because I remembered the graduation party dress and sent a bird to Anna. Is she here? If so, please call her to my room.”
“Right away, my lady.”
When I returned to my room, I changed into a comfortable dress and relaxed on the sofa. Soon, Anna arrived, holding several sheets of paper.
“My lady! You finally remembered the graduation party dress. I’ve been waiting for this moment! The last time you showed this much enthusiasm was during that incident with the Gonbot Trading Company, and that was work-related!”
“I’m shocked by how uninterested you are in dresses, my lady. But today, you will choose one properly,” she declared with determination, making me hesitate slightly.
“What about Fars’ outfit?”
“Fars? His outfit has already been ordered ages ago. Now all that’s left is to coordinate the accessories with yours. Your father, Fars, and you will decide on them together.”
Oh, that sounds nice. Coordinating accessories with the two of them felt special.
Anna meticulously explained each dress design to me, one by one.
“…So, which one would you like?”
I could almost hear Anna’s excited breaths.
“Well, um… how about this red dress? I don’t usually wear red, and it might complement Father and Fars’ outfits nicely.”
I chose a red A-line dress. It was a spontaneous decision, but I thought it might be nice to stand out for a change.
It seemed to be one of Anna’s recommended choices, and she was absolutely thrilled. She must have resigned herself to me picking something subdued, as I usually do.
“The red dress has gold embroidery, so I’ll add gold embroidery to Fars’ outfit as well. Oh, how exciting!”
Anna rang a bell, summoning a servant, and instructed them to take the drawings of the outfits and accessories to the trading company immediately.
And with that, the monumental task of choosing my graduation party dress had come to an end—at least, I think so.
