The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Despite speaking words of love and performing heart-pounding actions, the mocking sneer on Xue Luhe’s face was not hidden in the slightest.
Lin Mo’s heart was in a state of extreme turmoil as she was carried back to the room in a bridal carry and tossed onto the bed.
“Darling.”
With a fake, superficial smile on her face, Xue Luhe sat by the bed. At some point, she had grabbed the silver crossbody bag that had originally been in the walk-in closet.
She flashed a smile at Lin Mo, lifted the bag, unzipped it, and suddenly turned it upside down.
Everything in the bag tumbled out: various identification documents, cardholders, and a mountain of files. Among them was a bright red booklet with the words clearly visible: Marriage Certificate.
Xue Luhe picked up the certificate and flipped it open for her to see.
“Look, we are legal partners.”
On the document, the faces of Xue Luhe and Lin Mo were pressed together. Both were expressionless, showing none of the joy typical of newlyweds.
Lin Mo stared in a daze. She knew this was the setting of the book, of course, but seeing a legitimate marriage certificate for two girls still shook her to the core.
So this is a world where same-sex marriage is legal… how wonderful.
In her previous life, Lin Mo hadn’t known her own sexual orientation. She never had the time to care about such things, though she had a vague feeling she wasn’t “normal.” She loved looking at beautiful women and had zero interest in men.
In that world, such an orientation was not tolerated. Lin Mo was already physically weak and struggling to survive; if she were a lesbian on top of that… she probably would have lost her entire livelihood. She had suppressed her feelings and never tried.
If I had lived in this world from the start, maybe I would have been happier…
Lin Mo was lost in thought until she realized Xue Luhe had gathered all the documents from the floor into a bag and walked to the door.
“Stay here. I smashed your car, so you can’t run away. Oh, right—don’t think about calling the police. You have no way to deal with me, do you?”
After saying this, a pleasant smile appeared on Xue Luhe’s lips, but no matter how one looked at it, it was full of irony and threats.
Lin Mo stared blankly at her, unsure of what to say, as a flood of original plot details rushed through her mind.
The door closed with a “bang,” and soon the sound of a key turning in the lock followed. Now, Lin Mo was thoroughly trapped in the room.
A Ray of Hope
Lin Mo collapsed on the bed, agonizingly pulling the duvet over her head as she racked her brain for more plot details.
One of the plot points that left a deep impression on her involved imprisonment. The original female lead found a chance to call the police, but they arrived too late to help. That seemed to be the “setting” of this book.
In other words, if Lin Mo called the police now, her report likely wouldn’t be processed. The power of the original narrative would smooth over the logic. Besides, Xue Luhe was right here in the villa; if she found out Lin Mo called the police, who knew what she would do?
It looks like I’ll have to wait for Xue Luhe to leave the house, find a way to escape, and then seek help… the difficulty is so high!
Just then, her phone rang. It was Lu Ruoruo.
Lin Mo answered quickly, then suddenly thought: What if Xue Luhe installed surveillance on my phone?
She had to remember at all times: she was an amnesiac girl! To everyone!
Lu Ruoruo gave a tentative “Hello?” and Lin Mo replied:
“Who are you?”
Lu Ruoruo: “Holy crap, what’s wrong with you? Did that Xue woman beat you stupid? Why are you asking who I am the second you open your mouth? We’ve been besties for five years! Don’t you know who I am? Or is my name not on your screen? Tell me, did she hit you? When can you get out?”
Lin Mo: “Are you my best friend? Can you tell me—is Xue Luhe really my wife? I woke up today and found I don’t remember anything…”
There was silence on the other end for three full seconds, followed by a world-shaking scream:
“Crap crap crap! You really were beaten stupid! How does a perfectly good girl become an idiot? That Xue woman is too poisonous! Tell her to get you a doctor right now! You two are indeed legal wives, but it was a business marriage! There’s a contract—you divorce after two years. There’s only one year left! How could you lose your memory now? Do you plan to be trapped by her for the rest of your life? Heaven, what a mess…”
Ignoring Lu Ruoruo’s continued rambling, Lin Mo suddenly recalled a fact she had overlooked: The formal marriage contract between the original Lin Mo and Xue Luhe was only for two years! It was just that the original Lin Mo died too early to reach the end of the contract, so the setting was practically non-existent.
But things were different now. Lin Mo knew that if she could just survive this one year, Xue Luhe would follow the original plot and start her long storyline with the original protagonist. To make room for the protagonist, Xue Luhe would definitely divorce her!
Hope came so suddenly! Lin Mo wanted to kiss Lu Ruoruo through the phone. She said excitedly:
“In that case, things are much easier. Lu Ruoruo, thank you for telling me this!”
A confused Lu Ruoruo asked a few more questions but couldn’t figure out what was going led to the change. She eventually settled on a serious tone: “I’ll come to your house in a few days to see you. And don’t forget your work!”
Lin Mo was stunned. “Work? What work! Why do I have to work while living in a villa?”
Lu Ruoruo couldn’t help but laugh. “Hahaha, your personality really is different from before… You have a nominal position in your family’s company. You should go when you have time to check on things.”
Lin Mo blurted out: “I’d love to go, but Xue Luhe won’t let me leave.”
Lu Ruoruo pondered: “There will be a shareholders’ meeting in a while. Even though your parents are gone, you are one of the shareholders and must attend. Depending on the situation, Xue Luhe should let you go.”
They chatted a bit more. Lu Ruoruo didn’t believe the amnesia at first, asking about many past interests and experiences, but after realizing Lin Mo truly remembered nothing, she hung up, half-convinced.
Lin Mo put her phone down and rubbed her face, feeling much more relaxed.
I just need to endure one year and it’ll all be over. As long as I behave myself this year and don’t provoke that pervert, I should be able to survive.
A Green Dinner
A knock came at the door—three times, slow and steady, as if truly asking for Lin Mo’s permission.
Lin Mo didn’t dare speak. She knew it didn’t matter if she spoke or not; she was currently just fish on a chopping block. She huddled in the corner of the bed, buried in the pile of plushies, listening as the door was opened.
Xue Luhe’s slow footsteps drew closer, and with them came a particularly enticing aroma of food.
Lin Mo peeked out and was surprised to see Xue Luhe herself carrying a tray. She placed several small plates and bowls on the dining table.
Xue Luhe—the legendary international Best Actress, perverted villain, and super-rich CEO—was personally delivering dinner!
“Time to eat.”
Xue Luhe’s voice was calm, but to Lin Mo’s ears, it held a trace more warmth and mundane life than before.
Lin Mo carefully got out of bed, hopping on one leg to the table. She glanced at the food and asked casually:
“Only one set of utensils? Aren’t you eating?”
Xue Luhe raised an eyebrow in surprise, as if hearing such a question for the first time. An expression of interest flickered across her face.
“Are you inviting me?”
Lin Mo immediately waved her hands, her head shaking like a rattle. “No, no! I just asked! I wasn’t inviting you!”
If she had to eat face-to-face with this person, even if she got to feast on a beautiful face, the fear would cause indigestion. It wasn’t worth it!
However, as if ignoring her frantic refusal, Xue Luhe sat down with a smile.
“Since my wife has given such a warm invitation, I would be remiss to decline.”
She picked up her phone, typed a few words, and then sat with her chin resting on one hand, her beautiful eyes looking at Lin Mo with apparent affection. She suddenly seemed to take great interest in Lin Mo’s face, observing from the corners of her eyes to the tip of her nose, then from her cheeks to her neck.
Lin Mo kept her head down, not daring to look up. She truly felt what it meant to have “thorns in her back.” Xue Luhe’s gaze made her cheeks feel tight, and she even began to blush.
Soon, a knock came at the door. Xue Luhe said loudly, “Enter.”
A man in a white chef’s uniform entered, pushing a cart filled with ornate dishes. He respectfully placed plate after plate in front of Xue Luhe. It took five minutes just to set down the dozen or so dishes; the small dining table groaned under the weight.
Lin Mo looked at the four pathetic small plates in front of her: smashed cucumbers, stir-fried lettuce, a mixed vegetable stir-fry, bamboo shoots with pork, and a bowl of rice.
Then she looked at what was in front of Xue Luhe: roast duck, roast chicken, boiled fish, cherry pork, sweet and sour ribs, shredded pork with garlic sauce… the most “vegetarian” dish was a cabbage in superior broth that looked extremely extravagant.
Ugh, a Manchu Han Imperial Feast would probably look just like this.
Lin Mo was hungry—genuinely, painfully hungry.
Xue Luhe was doing this on purpose! She insisted on sitting next to her for contrast, with the goal of making Lin Mo’s meal even more depressing!
Lin Mo puffed out her cheeks in annoyance. She picked up her chopsticks and, amidst the fragrant aroma of fish and meat filling the table, took a bite of green vegetables.
Across from her, Xue Luhe laughed. The laughter was clear and bright, and it sounded dangerously beautiful.
“Darling, to repay you for the ‘green hat’ you gave me, all your dishes today are green. Is it tasty?”
Lin Mo: (In her heart) You mother-f… Lin Mo: (Out loud, smiling) Yes, it’s delicious.
Xue Luhe picked up a piece of braised pork, put it in her mouth, and squinted in enjoyment. She smiled and sighed:
“Do you feel my love for you, darling?”
Lin Mo clenched her teeth, fiercely chewing the vegetables. She forced a smile. “Yes, I feel it.”
Feel it, my foot! You’re a wicked old woman!
