The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 82
For the first time, Ke Ying felt grateful that Weibo’s servers could crash.
She took a sip of coffee before dialing a number on her phone.
Moments later, the call connected.
“Hello, Ke-jie.”
It was clear from the voice that someone was thoroughly enjoying their newfound freedom.
Ke Ying took a deep breath before speaking: “Ye Qinglan, where are you right now?”
Ye Qinglan’s laughter came through the line, accompanied by the sound of rushing wind: “We’re currently on the river.”
Ke Ying was utterly confused: “What?”
Wait, she was here working overtime while this little troublemaker was out somewhere?
“Oh, Ke-jie, hold on, Xiao Shu wants to talk to you.”
Before Ke Ying could respond, Ning Yunshu’s voice came through.
“Ke-jie, it’s Ning Yunshu. I’m aware of tonight’s situation, no need to worry. You can go home and rest; I’ve already handled everything,” Ning Yunshu said.
Hearing this, Ke Ying rubbed her temples.
At this point, there was no use dwelling on it any longer.
She sighed. “Alright, I understand.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled. “Good, get some rest early.”
After hanging up, Ke Ying exhaled deeply and headed to the PR department office. Looking at the still-busy staff, she announced, “Everyone, you’ve worked hard, go home and rest. Triple overtime pay plus bonuses.”
“Woohoo!” The PR team cheered.
“We even stocked up on coffee, thinking we’d pull an all-nighter.”
“Thank goodness, we can still get a good night’s sleep.”
Ke Ying smiled at their reactions. “Alright, you’ve all done well. Go home or grab some late-night snacks.”
“Let’s get barbecue! There’s a great spot nearby.”
“Sounds good! Ke-jie, you coming?” someone asked.
Ke Ying waved them off with a laugh. “No, you go ahead. Enjoy, I’ll cover the bill.”
“Woohoo!”
Watching the office empty out, Ke Ying thought for a moment before pulling out her phone.
[Ke Ying]: Are you done on your end?
[Qin Yun]: Just finished.
[Ke Ying]: Want to grab dinner?
[Qin Yun]: Sure.
Smiling, Ke Ying pocketed her phone and left.
Meanwhile…
On the yacht cruising down the river, the neon lights of the city shimmered along the banks, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the water. Ye Qinglan tightened her down jacket, the ring on her left middle finger glinting brilliantly as her radiant face broke into a bright smile.
“I hope Ke-jie doesn’t scold me tomorrow,” she said with a laugh.
Ning Yunshu chuckled, intertwining their fingers her own identical ring catching the light.
“Honestly, Sister’s bold move tonight startled even me. I had no choice but to whisk you away early.”
Ye Qinglan’s public proposal had truly taken her by surprise. Fortunately, she had been prepared, the moment the awards ceremony ended, she had hurriedly ushered Ye Qinglan into a car, driven to the riverbank, and boarded this yacht she had prepared long in advance, sailing them into the heart of the waterway.
As they reached their designated spot, dazzling fireworks burst across the night sky. Ning Yunshu knelt on one knee, presenting the engagement ring she had readied.
“Even though Sister beat me to it, I still want to say…”
“Will you marry me?”
Ye Qinglan looked at her with a smile and asked, “Then why can’t you be the one to marry me?”
Ning Yunshu replied earnestly, “Marrying my sister is fine too. As long as you agree, I’m happy with anything.”
Ye Qinglan burst into laughter and offered her hand. “Who cares? We’ve never distinguished between yours and mine anyway.”
Ning Yunshu eagerly slipped the ring onto her finger, then swept her up into her arms, beaming like a child.
“Finally, you belong only to me!”
Ye Qinglan gasped and lightly patted Ning Yunshu’s shoulder. “I’m yours, I’m yours, now put me down first!”
Only then did Ning Yunshu set her down, pulling her into a tight embrace.
“Sister, I’m so happy. I feel like the luckiest person in the world right now!”
Ye Qinglan found it amusing.
“I’m very happy too.”
…
By the time they stepped off the yacht, Ye Qinglan’s phone was nearly exploding with notifications. She glanced at it, feeling a headache coming on, then turned it off and slipped into Ning Yunshu’s car. The warm air blasting from the vents made her feel alive again.
“So, where to next?” Ye Qinglan asked again.
“Home, of course,” Ning Yunshu replied with a smile.
“Alright, let’s go home!” Ye Qinglan’s smile was radiant.
When they arrived, Ning Yunshu opened the door for her and flicked on the lights. The carefully decorated room instantly unfolded before Ye Qinglan’s eyes.
Her expression brightened, it hadn’t looked like this when she left in the morning.
“You prepared all this behind my back?” Ye Qinglan turned to Ning Yunshu.
“Of course. After all, today you not only won the Best Actress award but also accepted my proposal. We have to celebrate properly,” Ning Yunshu said with a grin.
Ye Qinglan couldn’t stop smiling. Ning Yunshu hung up their coats, then said, “Wait for me a moment, sister.”
“Sure.” Ye Qinglan tidied up her clothes and settled onto the sofa.
Ning Yunshu soon retrieved an exquisitely decorated cake from the fridge, placing it on the table before uncorking a bottle of red wine. After pouring it into a decanter, she returned to Ye Qinglan.
“Congratulations, sister,” Ning Yunshu said warmly.
Ye Qinglan smiled back. “Thank you, Xiao Shu, for arranging all this.”
“Last time you won an award, I missed your celebration. But tonight, I’m throwing you a private party,” Ning Yunshu said, gazing at her intently.
“From now on, I want to be by your side for every important moment, sharing them with you.”
Ye Qinglan’s eyes softened. “Yes, you will.”
“Then, let’s have some cake first. You haven’t eaten all evening,” Ning Yunshu suggested.
“Good idea, I’m starving.”
After enjoying the cake, Ning Yunshu poured them each a glass of wine once it had breathed.
“To our future.”
“To our life together.”
Their glasses clinked with a crisp sound before they drank, the wine slipping smoothly past their lips.
Setting down her glass, Ye Qinglan, for the first time, looped her arms around Ning Yunshu’s neck and leaned in to kiss her.
Thrilled by her initiative, Ning Yunshu eagerly responded, quickly reclaiming the lead.
Then, she lifted Ye Qinglan into her arms and carried her to the bedroom.
Lost in passion, Ning Yunshu kissed her lips again, her gaze burning and deep, her voice carrying a barely perceptible roughness.
“Sister.”
“Hmm?” Not understanding why she suddenly stopped, Ye Qinglan’s gaze held a hint of grievance as she looked at her.
“There’s something that’s been bothering me.”
As if to comfort her, Ning Yunshu gently brushed her lips with a kiss.
“What is it?” Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but ask.
“Sister, why won’t you let me into the study?” Ning Yunshu asked softly, gazing at her.
Ye Qinglan blushed and averted her eyes, not daring to meet Ning Yunshu’s gaze.
“B-because…”
She didn’t know how to explain, but Ning Yunshu chuckled softly and asked,
“Sister, you prepared my birthday gift in there before, didn’t you? I think that room must hold many of our past memories.”
Ye Qinglan blushed even deeper and shot her a glare. “If you keep asking, you’re getting off this bed.”
Ning Yunshu obediently stopped questioning and instead pressed Ye Qinglan down for another kiss.
“Alright, alright, I won’t ask anymore. I just want you, sister.”
…
A night of deep affection.
By the time they woke the next day, the sun was already high in the sky. Ye Qinglan curled up sleepily in bed, unwilling to get up.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but grumble, “Who is it? Coming at this hour…”
Ning Yunshu sighed and got up. “I’ll go check. You sleep a little longer, sister?”
“Mmm…” Ye Qinglan hummed softly.
Ning Yunshu smiled, dressed, and went to answer the door, only to freeze in shock.
Standing outside were Lin Xuesong, Ye Wentao, Yun Xi, and Ning Jiesen, all gathered at the doorstep.
“Mom? Dad? Aunt Lin? Uncle Ye? What brings you here?”
Ning Yunshu quickly ushered them inside.
“Where’s Qinglan?” Lin Xuesong asked.
Ning Yunshu coughed lightly. “Ah, she’s inside. I’ll go get her. Please make yourselves comfortable.”
Immediately, the four of them gave Ning Yunshu knowing looks.
The usually composed Ning Yunshu found herself fleeing in embarrassment this time.
Once back in the bedroom, she hurriedly woke Ye Qinglan.
“What’s wrong?” Ye Qinglan looked at her in confusion, eyes still heavy with sleep.
“My parents and your mom and dad are all here,” Ning Yunshu whispered.
“What?” Ye Qinglan instantly snapped awake, scrambling out of bed. “I need to get dressed.”
Without another word, she hastily dressed and followed Ning Yunshu out.
When the two emerged, the four in the living room gave them meaningful looks.
Ye Qinglan coughed awkwardly. “Mom, Dad, Aunt Yun, Uncle Ning… what brings you here?”
“What brings us here? You and Xiaoshu are getting married, how could we not come?” Lin Xuesong huffed.
“Lanlan, you really gave us quite the surprise this time,” Yun Xi said with a laugh.
Ye Qinglan rubbed her nose. “I didn’t think that much when I posted it. Wait, what do you mean ‘getting married’? Didn’t we just get engaged yesterday?”
“Do wedding preparations not take time? Sending invitations not take time? Planning a honeymoon not take time?”
Faced with Lin Xuesong’s rapid-fire questions, Ye Qinglan clutched her head in pain.
“Stop, stop, Master, please stop. My head’s about to explode.”
Lin Xuesong rolled her eyes. “Then come over here and help pick a date.”
“Fine.”
Ye Qinglan sighed, then glanced at Ning Yunshu. Both their eyes held a trace of resignation.
Oh well. It was all for their future, after all.
After all, they would never be apart again, so looking forward to treating every future day with earnest care was something to cherish.
“Alright, we’re coming.”
