The Movie Queen is Flirtatious and Doting - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
The male lead was getting impatient. “Have you figured out how to shoot this yet? Hurry up. I’m starving to death.”
Ye Yansheng said to the director, “You want explosive power? Fine. How about I ‘reverse-kabedon’ him? It fits my persona as an overbearing CEO perfectly.”
The director sighed helplessly. “Let’s give it a try then and see how it looks.”
Gu Yinglian breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Ye Yansheng had finally stopped flirting with her.
The leads restarted the wall-pinning scene. The male lead pressed his hand against Ye Yansheng’s, but her lips curled into a smirk. With her other hand, she grabbed his waist and, with a sudden burst of strength, slammed him against the wall. Wow, so cool! Gu Yinglian felt a spark of excitement; this was the kind of scene she wanted to see.
The height difference between the two wasn’t large, and Ye Yansheng’s aura during the reverse-kabedon was completely on point. She pinned the male lead’s hand and looked at him with a wicked, charming gaze. The playboy lead was actually stunned for a moment. Ye Yansheng reached out and stroked his face—to an outsider, it looked incredibly flirtatious. But the greasy sensation of his skin made her feel slightly nauseous. Still, she maintained a polite, professional smile.
“Cut! That’s it. Wrap it up!” The director was satisfied this time; the reversal effect was excellent. Professional actors really are meticulous and precise about their character’s positioning. The director was full of praise for Ye Yansheng.
…
It was already past noon. Gu Yinglian had been so engrossed in watching them film that she’d forgotten to leave.
The male lead left with his manager immediately after the scene without saying a word of goodbye. Gu Yinglian noted that he acted like a big shot despite his lackluster acting; she wondered what kind of background he had.
Ye Yansheng walked over and said to the director, “This batch of newcomers is a bit hard to carry, Director. You’ve got to give me an extra chicken leg (a bonus) for this.”
“Haha, alright, I’ll give it to you,” the director chuckled. “Good work. That guy was personally chosen by the investors, nothing I can do.”
“It’s my own fault for having bad eyes,” Ye Yansheng said, glancing at Gu Yinglian. “I was too busy looking at my beautiful secretary to check who the male lead was.”
Gu Yinglian: Why are you looking at me while saying that? So awkward.
The director, also hungry, asked, “Want to grab a bite together?”
“No thanks. We young people will eat on our own. You go find some old folks to eat with,” Ye Yansheng said, unceremoniously pulling Gu Yinglian away.
The director rubbed his three remaining hairs, feeling mournful: Am I really that old?
…
Ye Yansheng naturally draped an arm around Gu Yinglian’s shoulders—so naturally that Gu Yinglian found it hard to refuse. They walked toward the dressing room together.
“You didn’t leave. Were you waiting for me?” Ye Yansheng looked at her and smiled.
“No,” Gu Yinglian said. “I was just observing Sister Ye’s acting.”
“Mhm, and how was it?” Ye Yansheng leaned her face closer. “Did it take you by surprise?”
Seeing her approach, Gu Yinglian tried to dodge, but Ye Yansheng’s hand slid down to her waist. Using the momentum, she pushed Gu against the wall. A real-life version of a “kabedon” unfolded romantically right there. Ye Yansheng gave a wicked smile, leaned in close to her ear, and whispered, “Are you looking forward to filming a kiss scene with me?”
Gu Yinglian’s face turned beet red, her heart pounding. “Are… are you crazy?” How could they possibly film a kiss scene?
“What do you think about a kiss scene? Are you excited?” Ye Yansheng’s lips drew closer and closer as if she were about to kiss her. Startled, Gu Yinglian whipped her head to the side.
“Heh,” Ye Yansheng chuckled and pinched her cheek. “Such a shy little rabbit.”
Someone walked by just then, and Ye Yansheng released her. The two went into the dressing room to remove their makeup and change.
…
Gu Yinglian changed and prepared to go home, as she had no scenes in the afternoon. She was free because Ye Yansheng usually only filmed for half a day and rested the other half. The director scheduled other people’s scenes in the afternoon to accommodate her.
“Want to grab lunch? You must be hungry,” Ye Yansheng said. Without makeup, Gu Yinglian looked even more pure, like a student who hadn’t yet experienced the world.
Feeling that being with her was dangerous, Gu Yinglian politely declined. “No thanks, I’m going straight home.”
“Hmm?” Ye Yansheng sized her up. “Does that mean you don’t need to eat once you get home?”
Gu Yinglian: “…”
Ye Yansheng laughed. “Otherwise, should I go to your house? I haven’t been there yet.”
Gu Yinglian quickly asked, “Where were you planning to eat?”
“Interested now?” Without waiting for an answer, Ye Yansheng grabbed her hand. “Let’s go. I’ll take you.”
…
They arrived at the “Star Hotel.” Though the name was simple, it lived up to it. It was a restaurant exclusively for celebrities—ten floors of various cuisines, tea snacks, and famous chefs. It didn’t serve the general public, and even obscure small actors weren’t qualified to eat there. Those who could were all big names and VIPs.
It was popular among stars for a simple reason: the food was great, and there was no one to disturb them. However, the price of a single meal was astronomical.
Gu Yinglian rarely spent money in such “gold-devouring” pits; she couldn’t afford it. Being here for the first time was an eye-opener. The place was resplendent and dizzying. If Ye Yansheng hadn’t been leading her, she surely would have gotten lost.
“Western or Chinese?” Ye Yansheng asked.
“Chinese, I guess…” Gu Yinglian responded, her head spinning from all the glittering decor.
Ye Yansheng laughed at her dazed look. “I just love how you look like you’ve never seen the world before.”
“Huh?” Gu Yinglian turned to look at her, finally focusing on her face. Ye Yansheng’s lips curled into a smirk, and Gu Yinglian looked down, embarrassed.
…
They took the elevator to the third floor. A server led them to a window seat with a nice view.
Ye Yansheng looked at the menu. “What do you want to eat?”
Gu Yinglian: “Anything is fine. You choose.”
Ye Yansheng: “Are you sure? Take a look at the menu.”
Gu Yinglian took the menu and glanced at it. The options were overwhelming, but it was the prices that made her feel “full” instantly. She closed the menu and looked at Ye Yansheng. “Is this… AA (splitting the bill)?”
“AA?” Ye Yansheng laughed. “Why would it be AA? It’s my treat. No need to be polite.”
“Then you order. I’m fine with anything,” Gu Yinglian thought. She’d just consider herself a “dining companion.” “Order whatever you want to eat.”
“How about some Plain Cut Chicken?” Ye Yansheng scanned the menu and looked at Gu.
Gu Yinglian’s brow furrowed slightly, but she said nothing.
“Mhm, Taro Braised Pork, Dog Meat Pot, Snake Soup, Pig Stomach Chicken, Suckling Pig…” Ye Yansheng read aloud as she flipped the pages.
Gu Yinglian’s brow furrowed tighter and tighter.
The server asked, “Do you want… all of those?”
Ye Yansheng glanced at Gu Yinglian and smiled. “No, none of those.”
“Ms. Gu Yinglian, what exactly do you want to eat?” Ye Yansheng teased. “You don’t like what I order, but you won’t order anything yourself.”
Gu Yinglian laughed awkwardly. “Something light is fine. How about we start with two BBQ Pork Buns (Char Siu Bao)?”
“Are you that hungry?” Ye Yansheng turned to the server. “Bring two BBQ pork buns first to tide her over, we’ll take our time with the rest.”
…
Gu Yinglian’s stomach was growling. When the buns arrived, she didn’t stand on ceremony; she picked one up and started eating. Ye Yansheng was still looking at the menu.
By the time Ye Yansheng finished ordering, Gu Yinglian had finished both buns. Ye Yansheng watched her eating with puffed-out cheeks, looking like a little hamster, and couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re already full. You won’t be able to eat when the dishes arrive.”
Gu Yinglian looked at her, a bit embarrassed. “I… I was too hungry. Please don’t laugh at me…”
“It’s fine. Just be yourself.” Ye Yansheng looked at her and added, “Has anyone ever told you that you’re very cute?”
“?” Gu Yinglian looked at her blankly. Ye Yansheng was practically dying from the cuteness. Is this ‘Natural Moe’ (Tennen)? Ye Yansheng felt she was truly falling for her.
Gu Yinglian didn’t notice anything unusual. She felt thirsty, took a sip of tea, and felt much better.
Even though they were just pork buns, they were much more exquisite than the ones outside, served on a white porcelain plate with a gold rim. They looked like high-end pastries and tasted far better than any she’d had before.
When the main dishes arrived, they were all served on a matching set of gold-rimmed white porcelain. It was incredibly high-end. Just looking at the tableware was a pleasure, and the food presentation was stunning.
Gu Yinglian sighed. A meal costing ten thousand yuan better look this good.
“Try it. See if it’s good,” Ye Yansheng invited generously.
“Mhm, thank you.” Gu Yinglian picked up a pair of exquisite chopsticks and tried the Sweet and Sour Pineapple Pork. It was delicious. She could eat two bowls of rice with this dish alone.
She looked at what Ye Yansheng had ordered: Sweet and Sour Pineapple Pork, Poached Shrimp, Steamed Sea Bass, Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice Chicken, Rice Noodle Rolls, Cabbage, and Winter Melon Soup. Heh… isn’t this a bit too much?
Gu Yinglian couldn’t help but ask, “Can we really finish all this?”
“Hmm?” Ye Yansheng sipped the winter melon soup. “I never said you had to finish it.”
“Isn’t it a waste if we don’t?”
“Then eat more,” Ye Yansheng smiled.
Gu Yinglian looked at her. “Don’t you have to watch what you eat? Don’t you usually have to diet?”
Ye Yansheng: “Mhm. Today, I’m making an exception for you.”
Gu Yinglian: “Then I’m truly flattered (shou chong ruo jing).”
Ye Yansheng: “What did you say?”
Gu Yinglian: “I said I’m truly flattered.”
Ye Yansheng gave her a wicked smile. “So, you finally feel ‘favored’ (chong)?”
Gu Yinglian: “…”
