The Movie Queen And Her Rival Just Went Public! - Chapter 35
Chapter 35
After successfully sending the message, Shen Luoyan leaned against the dining table and waited a moment. Only when the production crew replied and the howling from next door abruptly ceased did she put down her phone and walk toward the bedroom with the milk tea.
She walked slowly toward the slightly ajar door. From this distance, she couldn’t hear any movement inside. They say when a child is quiet, they are either causing trouble or on their way to cause trouble. Shen Luoyan’s heart sank with a bad premonition, and she quickly pushed the door open and entered.
The wall lamp she had left on illuminated the bedroom. A huge circular shadow was cast on the wall. She turned her head to look.
“Master, have you come to save me, Master? Your disciple has been waiting so long, Master!”
Su Cancan was an excellent performing arts graduate, with high scores in voice, stage presence, body movement, and acting. At this moment, she had balled up the quilt and piled it on herself, scratching her head one moment and scratching her cheek the next. Her voice, pinched and high, sounded somewhat similar to Sun Wukong (The Monkey King).
Shen Luoyan paused at the doorway, unsure whether to play along or not.
“Master, come and save your disciple!” Su Cancan twisted her arms and wailed.
After a moment of hesitation, Shen Luoyan placed the milk tea far away, walked around the bed, and removed the light quilt that was pressing down on her. The Five Finger Mountain was gone, and the “Monkey King” immediately regained vitality. She ignored Shen Luoyan’s actions and staggered up.
Her agile and lovely eyes narrowed, gazing seductively at Shen Luoyan. Her cheeks were flushed. She took small, unsteady steps back and forth on the soft mattress, twisting a few times before finding the right direction and walking straight toward Shen Luoyan.
Seeing her swaying, Shen Luoyan opened her arms, ready to catch her at any moment, not forgetting to instruct: “Slow down. Aren’t you dizzy?”
Hearing this, Su Cancan’s red lips curled up. Her nimble tongue swept over her bright white upper teeth, which were neat as polished pearls. She then bit her lower lip and took a few quick steps, crashing into Shen Luoyan’s arms.
The impact was too great. Shen Luoyan stumbled a few steps and couldn’t steady herself. Fearing they might fall backward and get hurt, she held Su Cancan and fell sideways.
Su Cancan was on top, Shen Luoyan was on the bottom, with her back against the bed.
If her psychological activities were visualized by a post-production team, she imagined a tangled ball of wool next to her head.
Su Cancan didn’t realize how precarious their current position was. The temperature had risen after a few days, and they were already wearing light clothing. Shen Luoyan had given her jacket away, leaving her in only a plain T-shirt on her upper body. Su Cancan had complained about the heat and discomfort and took off the jacket. They were now in zero-distance contact, their body heat so intense it could melt and fuse them together.
Shen Luoyan’s arms, wrapped around Su Cancan’s waist, were stiff: “Can you get up, please?”
“No.” Su Cancan frowned, actively hugging Shen Luoyan and sighing haughtily: “My Emperor Brother, look at this spring scenery, so pleasant and lovely. Can you forget those official documents and scriptures for a while and enjoy the view with your little sister?”
Su Cancan’s fiery gaze was fixed on her face. Even though she wasn’t a monk, Shen Luoyan closed her eyes and silently chanted “Amitabha,” her hands frozen in place.
“My Emperor Brother, you said that having entered Buddhism, all four elements are empty. Yet, here you are, eyes tightly shut, not daring to even look at me. If you would only open your eyes and look at me properly… I don’t believe your eyes are empty, and I certainly don’t believe all four elements are empty for you.”
Faced with such a Queen of the Women’s Kingdom, how could Shen Luoyan maintain control? She raised her eyelids a crack, saw Su Cancan fully immersed in the role, her actions and expressions incredibly seductive, and quickly closed her eyes again.
Shen Luoyan spoke with difficulty: “Can we get up first, please?”
Her tone carried a hint of pleading, sounding exactly like something the Tang Monk might have said at the time. While waiting, the weight in her arms vanished. The gap between them was torn open, and heat immediately escaped. Shen Luoyan slowly opened her eyes.
Su Cancan was lying straight on the bed, just like after the forced kiss the other day. Once the madness passed and the energy was spent, she immediately transformed into a sleeping beauty.
Looking into the distance, Shen Luoyan said helplessly: “You don’t want the milk tea anymore?”
“I want it.” The sleeping beauty moved her mouth, issuing commands: “I want to enslave you. I want you to feed me.”
The words of a drunkard couldn’t be taken seriously. Shen Luoyan jumped off the bed, ready to help her remove her makeup and let her sleep soundly. However, just as she took the first step, a whimpering, aggrieved, and soft sigh came from behind her.
“Wuwuwu, I can’t even have that one tiny wish fulfilled. Why am I so miserable? I feel awful. I want to go home. Mommy, I want to go home.”
…
Shen Luoyan immediately raised both hands in surrender. She grabbed the glass cup, lifted Su Cancan up, and waited for her to swallow.
Su Cancan was half-asleep and half-awake. She didn’t genuinely want milk tea but was merely seeking an emotional outlet, a bit of trouble. With her goal achieved, her energy was depleted, and she immediately switched to deep sleep mode.
There was no need to force someone who was truly asleep. Shen Luoyan laid her back down, gave her some mouthwash that she could swallow, took out a makeup remover wipe, and meticulously cleaned her face inch by inch. After ensuring no makeup residue remained, she applied a simple layer of Su Cancan’s own moisturizing and stabilizing products.
Seeing Su Cancan soundly asleep and breathing steadily, Shen Luoyan quietly grabbed her pajamas and went to the bathroom to wash up. She hadn’t changed Su Cancan’s clothes, knowing that if she did, no matter how many kindnesses she offered, Su Cancan would no longer tolerate her closeness.
A few minutes later, Shen Luoyan emerged from the bathroom with a slight dampness on her. Before switching off the wall lamp, she checked if Su Cancan’s quilt was properly covered, only to hear her still muttering lines.
“I am a silkworm. A silkworm must hide in its cocoon, or bad things will catch me and eat me. I must spin silk well, and in the future, become the most beautiful butterfly to collect the sweetest nectar…”
Shen Luoyan reached out and pressed the switch. The room plunged into darkness, becoming one with the outside.
She replied to her: “No matter what silkworm you are, or flower butterfly, or Queen of the Women’s Kingdom, in my heart, you will always be the most shining star, the purest snowflake, and the kindest, brightest, and most lovable person.”
Su Cancan naturally couldn’t hear her passionate confession. If she did, she might scoff or dismiss it. But Shen Luoyan didn’t mind. The road ahead in life was long, and she had plenty of time to approach her and move her heart.
…
The phone on the bedside table buzzed. Su Cancan’s eyelids felt glued shut with cement; no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open them. In the darkness, she reached out to grope for it. Her fingertips grazed the cotton sheet, felt the coolness, and then reached further forward.
Bang! Something fell from a height, hitting the floor with a loud crash.
Stunned by the high-decibel noise, Su Cancan jerked her eyes open. Her fingers curled, and the image before her spun wildly counter-clockwise.
“What broke?” Shen Luoyan’s husky voice reached her ear. She, too, had been startled awake by the loud noise.
Su Cancan shook away the visual illusion: “I don’t know, maybe the water cup.”
“Oh, don’t move.” Shen Luoyan threw off the covers and stepped into her slippers. “It’s dangerous. Wait until I’ve cleaned it up before you get out of bed.”
Su Cancan wouldn’t move an inch even without Shen Luoyan telling her. She felt her arm being lifted and tucked back into place. Her face couldn’t help but blush a little, but her expression immediately changed as she felt the clothes on her body.
The rough texture and dry feel confirmed that Shen Luoyan hadn’t changed her clothes. She was relieved, yet felt a little disappointed.
The phone was still singing incessantly. Su Cancan rubbed her temples while picking up the call.
“Hello?” After a night of being soaked and eroded by alcohol, her voice was even huskier than Shen Luoyan’s. She cleared her throat with a dry cough.
Liu Yimin began rubbing her temples. This girl definitely got too drunk, forgetting everything she had promised. Liu Yimin sighed helplessly: “My dear, what kind of alcohol did you have to drink so much of on the show?”
Shen Luoyan entered the room with cleaning tools. Seeing Su Cancan on the phone, she tried her best to control the sound so as not to disturb her, but the broken glass pieces uncontrollably clinked against each other.
“It’s fine. It’s my manager,” Su Cancan, who was sitting up, told Shen Luoyan, then addressed Liu Yimin: “Didn’t you say that if people don’t offend me, I don’t offend them, but if they offend me, I must retaliate?”
Liu Yimin was silent for a few seconds, her voice sticky and rough: “Did Shen Luoyan really bully you?”
Su Cancan felt guilty about talking about her in front of the person herself. She secretly peeked at Shen Luoyan, then looked away and replied: “No, it wasn’t her. It was a guest from another group, constantly finding fault and stirring up trouble.”
Shen Luoyan, being in the room, couldn’t ignore Su Cancan and Liu Yimin’s conversation. Based on the content, she guessed that Liu Yimin suspected her of pressuring or bullying Su Cancan, but Su Cancan had explained the situation. Her mood immediately brightened considerably.
“Why are you afraid of another group? Did they force you to drink? You should have just refused. This show tests your and Shen Luoyan’s popularity. Although yours is more negative, it still attracts an audience. What’s wrong with the production team? Don’t they know who’s the subordinate and who’s the boss?”
Su Cancan twitched her mouth. What she said was good, but she didn’t have to say it.
The cleaning reached its final stage. Shen Luoyan collected the broken glass and took it out of the room. Su Cancan reassured her manager: “No one forced me. Shen Luoyan wouldn’t have drunk it. What was I supposed to do? Watch her collapse in front of me? Then fine, we wouldn’t need to confirm our incompatibility; we’d be trending immediately. I wouldn’t even need to publish a PR article to clean up the mess; I could just retire from the industry.”
“Ah?” Liu Yimin was utterly shocked that Su Cancan would shield Shen Luoyan from the drink, her jaw practically dropping.
Su Cancan wrinkled her nose at the smell of alcohol: “That’s what happened. Do you have anything else to call about so early in the morning? If not, I’m hanging up to take a shower.”
“You drank too much and then immediately fell asleep. You absolutely can’t do that next time. Alcohol harms your body. Shen Luoyan surely has her own way to solve the problem. You need to protect yourself first…”
“It’s fine, I’m hanging up.” Liu Yimin’s motherly nagging was very heartwarming, but the fire was burning fiercely in the heart of the drunk person.
Liu Yimin sighed, then quickly said, afraid Su Cancan would really hang up: “You have a recording session this afternoon. I just sent you the address. Check your condition to see if you can go. If you can’t, send Director Liu a message explaining the situation. That’s it. You can hang up now.”
“Oh.” Su Cancan really hung up the phone.
As the call screen disappeared, she glanced at the time displayed and hurried to the bathroom to clean herself up.
Shen Luoyan hadn’t prepared breakfast because it was almost lunchtime. The two sat face-to-face, and Su Cancan proactively mentioned her afternoon work schedule.
“It’s a bit sudden, but the venue is booked, so I have to go.”
Shen Luoyan put a piece of the tenderest perch meat on her plate: “Alright, I’ll drive you after lunch.”
Su Cancan refused: “No need. I can just have my assistant pick me up. No need to trouble you.”
Shen Luoyan put down her chopsticks and said seriously: “It’s no trouble. It will take time for your assistant to get here and drive you. My car is nearby, and I’d like to go out and look around this afternoon anyway.”
Su Cancan relented: “Okay then, thank you.”
“Last night, too. I was probably very annoying when I was drunk. Thank you for taking care of me. I’ll try to drink less or not at all in the future.”
The other person’s expression was sincere: “I should be thanking you for shielding me from the drink. Taking care of you is what I ought to do.”
A regular colleague, no blood relations, and “what I ought to do”?
Su Cancan was lost in thought after hearing the answer. It wasn’t until she finished packing and they left the cabin, walking toward the village parking lot, that her eyes caught sight of a black Lamborghini Urus. She then remembered the unmentionable private conflict she had with this car.
