The Movie Queen And Her Rival Just Went Public! - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
The moment the question landed, the atmosphere in the room instantly dropped by several degrees. Not to mention the four pairs of guests in front of the camera, even the dozen cameramen in the back couldn’t help but gasp, marveling at how cold and fierce the late spring breeze could be.
Su Cancan remained silent. She turned to look at Viky, who was also looking at her, with undisguised provocation on her face. They were indeed a pair; the curve of the two foxes’ wagging tails was exactly the same.
“Well, this…” Su Cancan poked her finger on her lip, piquing everyone’s curiosity.
According to the rules of Truth or Dare, she could choose not to answer, but she would have to drink a glass of specially concocted alcohol. This secret drink was sitting not far away, a chaotic color mixed with everyone’s random contributions, faintly emanating an evil aura.
Su Cancan spoke halfway, took her finger away from her lip, and reached out toward the secret drink.
Everyone present understood her action. The question was too explicit. It would be hard to answer even among close friends, let alone under the camera, where saying it meant making it public.
Viky silently curled her lip, thinking Su Cancan was no fun for not playing the game properly. She was just about to say something to draw attention back to herself when Su Cancan’s hand suddenly retracted.
“Just kidding. What’s so explosive about that question?” Su Cancan gave a bright smile. “My first time is still mine. And, let me give you a bonus answer: I’ve never been in a relationship before either. Mother-to-be solo.”
“No way, Sister Cancan is so beautiful, no one chased you when you were in school?” Viky forced a smile, determined to make Su Cancan look bad.
If a person has no ability, they should not have ill intentions, or they will suffer backlash.
Su Cancan poked Shen Luoyan’s arm: “Shen Luoyan and I went to the same high school. Why don’t you ask her?”
Shen Luoyan’s expression was cold, and she wasn’t even willing to spare a glance for Viky. She first felt Su Cancan’s hand. Feeling that it was a little cold, she took off her own jacket and draped it over Su Cancan’s shoulders.
Shen Luoyan had worn the suit jacket for several hours, and the inside was full of her body temperature and a faint, woody scent. Su Cancan was immediately warmed, and the chill in her body was dispelled.
“You are right. Ms. Su is indeed outstanding. She was the most beautiful girl in the whole school in high school.”
Viky waited for Shen Luoyan to say the second half of the sentence, looking for an opportunity to attack again. The two girls from Ning City Art Academy perked up their ears, ready to listen to the alumnus’s gossip, while the others were just listening for fun.
Shen Luoyan was in no hurry. She adjusted the jacket on Su Cancan’s body, looked around, and her gaze landed on Viky’s slightly melting makeup. She scrutinized Viky, carrying an unusually malicious intent when looking at someone.
Shen Luoyan’s features were cool and clean, her deep eyes focused, radiating authority without anger. Viky felt a prickle of fear and dared not look her in the eye, darting her gaze away. Only then did Shen Luoyan speak slowly: “Love of beauty is common to all. Ms. Su naturally had many admirers. How about you, don’t you?”
A light blow landed, but it caused severe internal injury to Viky.
Viky was not from an acting background. A few years ago, she gained popularity making short, rustic videos on a short video platform and signed with an internet celebrity company. Later, for the sake of popularity, she underwent multiple plastic surgeries, revising her look repeatedly to become who she was now. Compared to Su Cancan, who was a natural beauty, Viky could at most be called a minor beauty. To hide her flaws and highlight her advantages, she often chose to wear minimal clothing to draw attention to more noticeable areas.
“Haha.” Viky gave a forced laugh. “I don’t remember much about school anymore. I guess I had some.”
She wanted to end the awkward topic. Xia Yue, who had been silent since the recording began, suddenly mumbled, “You’re only in your twenties, just graduated, and you don’t remember anymore? Besides, do you have to agree to date someone just because they chase you?”
Xia Yue’s unintentional remark was picked up by the microphone on her collar and reached everyone’s ears. Viky suffered a double blow. Before the damage from Shen Luoyan had subsided, another stab wound was inflicted from behind. She searched for the speaker, fury burning in her eyes.
Just as the anger was about to burn Xia Yue, Cheng Lewei blocked her unfriendly gaze. The age difference of more than ten years instantly pushed Viky back.
A balloon was shoved into Viky’s heart, repeatedly inflating and swelling to the critical point of bursting. She picked up her glass and drank the contents in one gulp.
Xia Yue, who was diligently pushing up her glasses, didn’t realize she had hit Viky’s sore spot. Indeed, the company had changed her age, bought her academic credentials, and modified her encyclopedia profile. Who would know that the vibrant young girl was actually a middle school dropout—a delinquent who indulged in smoking and drinking in private?
“Viky, you didn’t refuse to answer, so why are you drinking alone?” Su Cancan raised an eyebrow, pouring her a refill thoughtfully.
Then she continued: “I just gave one, and Ms. Shen also answered one. Why don’t you draw one to spice things up?”
“Yes, yes.” Youyou, a fan of Su Cancan, was more enthusiastic about joining in. She was the first to start the ruckus after Su Cancan’s suggestion.
Zhou Zhou supported his girlfriend: “Answer one. Let’s get to know each other.”
Xia Yue whispered: “That makes sense. Two answers for one question is pretty good.”
With the atmosphere set, refusing would be too much of a downer for Viky. Her hand trembled as she reached into the box containing all sorts of tricky questions. After repeatedly stirring the contents, she nervously pulled out a slip of paper.
“Please kiss your partner.” She read the content of the slip word by word, her suspended heart dropping a few inches.
Everyone widened their eyes, intently watching the intimate scene. Viky slowly approached Miky. The distance between them gradually decreased. Soon, Viky’s blunt nose touched Miky’s cool skin.
Their lips met, like a spark landing on dry grass and igniting a raging fire. The camera couldn’t capture who initiated it, or who stuck out their tongue first. Slight sounds of moisture were recorded. As they reluctantly separated, their rapid breathing and eyes glistening with moisture revealed the intensity of the kiss.
After the kiss, the other couples at the scene became slightly agitated. Youyou cupped Zhou Zhou’s face and kissed him lightly. Cheng Lewei also left a mark on Xia Yue’s palm. Only Su Cancan was seriously analyzing whether the couple’s kissing angle was aesthetically pleasing on camera and if there were any commendable points worthy of her study.
She leaned in close to Shen Luoyan’s ear and said seriously, “Do emotions always make it this intense? The panting is acceptable, but their features colliding look a little distorted. It won’t look good on camera, right? But some directors demand authenticity to this extent…”
Shen Luoyan was speechless. She rubbed the tip of her nose. Su Cancan truly was a collaborator, a work partner.
“It depends on the context. Some directors who pursue aesthetic beauty will slow down the action. It’s best if, during a close-up of the lower half of the face, you can clearly see the movement of the lips and tongue. Intense kisses like that also happen,” Shen Luoyan said, her ears turning red as she talked nonsense with a straight face.
Su Cancan suddenly smiled mischievously: “But Ms. Shen hasn’t learned these techniques. Do you rely on personal experience for filming, or are you already rich in experience?”
Shen Luoyan licked her lips, avoiding Su Cancan’s playful inquiry: “Neither. I haven’t taken a kissing scene since my debut.”
“I’m the same as you. I’m also mother-to-be solo,” she added.
Su Cancan pouted and shook her head. Many things about Shen Luoyan greatly deviated from her perception. She had the face of a seasoned romantic, yet she was still a novice—an unexpected contrast.
“Then you should go and watch more, look closely, learn seriously. You might need it later.” Su Cancan leaned back slightly, giving Shen Luoyan a clear view for learning.
Shen Luoyan was both amused and exasperated: “No need.”
“Don’t be shy. We are actors. Watching these with a learning attitude is professionalism,” Su Cancan countered.
Shen Luoyan suddenly adopted a serious expression and asked her: “If the show requires us to kiss, would you do it?”
“Yes,” Su Cancan agreed immediately, but her darting gaze betrayed her true feelings. She didn’t want to.
Shen Luoyan didn’t expose her, just lightly said “Mhm,” and picked up her cup for a sip. Her expression was so bitter that anyone watching would think she was drinking strong liquor. Only she knew it was mineral water; the bitterness was in her heart.
“Finished. Shall we continue?”
Viky, having separated from Miky’s lips, looked triumphant, eager to continue the game.
The slips of paper in the box were dwindling, and everyone’s little secrets were popping out one after another. The scale wasn’t too wild, mostly concerning nicknames, first meetings, first kisses, and favorite parts of the partner’s body.
Su Cancan’s carefully chosen nickname for Shen Luoyan wasn’t asked, which made her feel a little disappointed.
The night grew deeper, the chirping of cicadas sporadic. When the recorded content was enough for this episode, the meeting drew to a close.
The box of questions landed by Shen Luoyan’s hand. According to the game rules, she needed to draw a slip and perform the specified action or answer the question. The moonlight was hazy, and the eyes of the guests, who had drunk quite a bit to warm themselves, were even hazier.
“I’ll read it for Ms. Shen.”
Su Cancan took the slip of paper from Shen Luoyan’s hand and slowly unfolded it. She said the words, but then hesitated to speak the contents.
The rhythm of the game was disrupted, and everyone looked at them.
“Please call your first love now.” Viky, “eager to help,” walked around behind the two of them and took the liberty of loudly reading the content on the slip. “Sister Luoyan, hurry up.”
Shen Luoyan glanced at the slip, confirming that Viky hadn’t made it up.
“I’ve never been in a relationship,” Shen Luoyan admitted frankly.
Su Cancan agreed: “If you’ve never dated, you don’t have a first love to call.”
“There’s a parenthesis at the back: ‘Secret crushes also count’,” Viky raised an eyebrow. “Surely Sister Luoyan has had a secret crush before?”
Su Cancan was very displeased with Viky’s relentless pursuit. She particularly disliked people who latched onto one point, pressed hard, and wouldn’t give up until they achieved their goal. It was too calculating, lacking warmth and emotional intelligence.
Shen Luoyan nodded, and the atmosphere solidified.
Just as everyone was preparing to gloss over the question, Viky couldn’t maintain her composure: “Sister Luoyan, you don’t have to reveal the name or anything. It’s just a phone call…”
Shen Luoyan interrupted: “Yes, I have had a secret crush, but I don’t want to bother her. I’ll drink the penalty.”
As she spoke, Shen Luoyan had already picked up the strange-looking and even stranger-smelling drink. As the cold glass approached her, and the weird liquid tilted toward the rim, a warm, small hand snatched the glass from hers.
On camera, Su Cancan swiftly grabbed the glass. Before anyone could react, she tilted her head back and downed the contents, then inverted the empty glass to show everyone.
