The Movie Queen And Her Rival Just Went Public! - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Su Cancan hesitated at the door after putting on her pajamas.
The bathroom door faced the small sofa in the room, and it was fitted with irregular frosted glass, making it impossible to see the room’s interior clearly. She didn’t want to open the door and bump into Shen Luoyan. Her free hand repeatedly touched and then released the metal handle.
Props Team AA: Good evening, dear teachers! Later, our staff will place a box containing the mission card at the door of each room. Please retrieve it when the doorbell rings~
The show’s message came in just as Su Cancan was steeling herself to open the door for the third time.
Checking the new message pushed Shen Luoyan’s chat box to the top of the screen.
Shen Luoyan: I’ll get the mission card. There’s honey water and milk on the dining table. You can drink some after your shower to help you sleep.
Looking at the goofy-smiling dog on Shen Luoyan’s avatar, Su Cancan wrinkled her nose, awkwardly stepped out of the bathroom, put on her house coat, and headed to the dining area.
Shen Luoyan, who had retrieved the box, carried the cardboard box back into the room without changing her shoes. Her first action was to look toward the dining table from the entrance. A thin, solitary figure appeared in the empty space, and she was overjoyed. She quickly changed her shoes and walked over, sitting across from Su Cancan and setting the cardboard box down.
Su Cancan rotated the glass cup with her fingertips: “Would you like some?”
It was only after sitting down that Shen Luoyan truly saw what Su Cancan was doing.
The cups containing the transparent and light-yellow liquids (honey water and milk) were still in their original spots. Su Cancan was holding a wine glass, and the scarlet liquid inside swirled as smoothly as silk with her movement, leaving a faint film clinging to the glass wall.
Shen Luoyan couldn’t imagine if she would become incoherent or even touchy-feely again if she finished it. She opened and closed her mouth several times, but the words of caution were cut off by Su Cancan.
“The wine is my own. I forgot to take it out this afternoon.”
Su Cancan thought she was worried that the wine’s origin was unknown and didn’t dare to drink it, so she put the glass down and generously presented the entire bottle to her.
“It’s a treasure I found after trying many. It has a rich fruity flavor, is very smooth to drink, and it helps with sleep. Should I pour you some?”
Shen Luoyan’s gaze shifted from the tabletop to Su Cancan’s face. Her thick, damp hair was wrapped up, with only one or two strands curling at her temples and forehead. Her dark-brown eyes were moist, and her cheeks were flushed, as if she had applied blush.
Faced with such a lovely face and a heartfelt invitation, she still shook her head slightly to decline.
“I’m allergic to alcohol, so I can’t drink.”
Su Cancan didn’t push it. Allergies could be serious, and she wouldn’t joke about someone else’s health.
She nodded, stopped the hand movement, and pressed her full lips to the rim of the cup, taking a sip.
The pale lips were stained with color, making her look like a mesmerizing snake spirit ready to flick its tongue, but the next second, she flicked her tongue out and turned back into a beautiful kitten.
“Let’s open the mission card and see.”
One sentence pulled Shen Luoyan back to reality. They weren’t on a date; they were filming a variety show.
Shen Luoyan pursed her lips and raised an eyebrow. She placed the lid aside, and a card slightly larger than a palm appeared atop the raffia filling the box.
She picked up the card and read.
“Dear Shen Luoyan and Su Cancan, welcome to the Love Cottage. Three new couples will be joining you on this journey. To get to know each other better, we have prepared a beautiful bonfire party. Please be present on time tomorrow night! P.S.: In the game segment, each couple should form a team naturally and remember to come up with a nice couple’s name.”
Couple’s name…
The moment Su Cancan heard those three words, she instantly got a headache. She stared at Shen Luoyan’s face, trying to find any change in her expression, but the other party looked perfectly normal. She sighed, closed her eyes, and downed the wine in the glass.
“What do you think?” The cup clinked crisply against the table. She tapped the tabletop to get Shen Luoyan’s attention. “Our CP name? I’ve never come up with something like that.”
Shen Luoyan pinched the card, her gaze fixed on the bottom left corner.
She slowly spoke: “There’s one more sentence: ‘Please also come up with an exclusive nickname for your partner.'”
Su Cancan quickly blinked.
“Do you have any ideas right now?” Shen Luoyan asked, putting down the card.
The answer she received was a shake of the head.
Su Cancan found that this person was calm and composed in everything, as if everything was under control. Since she couldn’t think of anything, she decided to push the difficult task onto her.
“How about you come up with it? You have a higher cultural level than me.”
When a cat shows a flattering expression, comrades with weak wills must be careful not to fall for it.
Otherwise, they will end up like Shen Luoyan—who inexplicably nodded.
By the time Shen Luoyan realized she had taken on such a big task, Su Cancan was already happily skipping back to the room in her slippers, leaving a long sentence behind.
“You’re so nice! So it’s settled, I’ll leave it to you. I’m going to dry my hair now. You should also clean up and go to bed early, okay?”
The happy cat scampered away, leaving behind the honest, hardworking dog.
Shen Luoyan dutifully covered the cameras one by one, and before entering the room, she let out a soft laugh.
She said she was nice.
