The Movie Queen And Her Rival Just Went Public! - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
The dim hallway light outlined the small figure.
“Why don’t you go in?” Su Cancan asked, approaching and recognizing the girl as Shen Luoyan’s assistant.
Although the production team had negotiated, it was unlikely that the hotel would leak information, but it was still not good for people to see, especially those with ulterior motives. Out of kindness, she reminded her.
The girl slowly raised her head, which had been buried in her arms. Her eyes were red and swollen. Looking down, the red dots splashed on her plain clothes were as glaring as red plums in the winter snow.
“Cancan-jie.”
“Please,” her crying voice was barely contained. “Can you go in and check on Luoyan-jie?”
People often lower their posture when pleading, and the person in front of her was even more so, with a mixture of pleading and hope in her teary eyes.
Su Cancan was a bit hesitant, looking at the tightly closed door in front of her, then at Liu Yimin, who hadn’t expressed an opinion, and finally her gaze fell on the girl. The girl was so fragile that if she refused, her whole being would shatter along with the bubble of hope. But given their relationship, she probably wouldn’t be able to comfort Shen Luoyan.
Time froze at this moment, with only the elevator moving up and down, making a faint sound.
The sight of three people surrounding Shen Luoyan’s assistant was also not good. Liu Yimin suggested: “Let’s go in and take a look. If she’s not in a good state, she won’t be able to film tomorrow. It’s better to check and know what we’re dealing with.”
After a moment of thought, Su Cancan nodded: “Okay.”
As Su Cancan agreed to go in and see Shen Luoyan, the little assistant quickly took out the room card from her pocket. As she handed it over, she stumbled twice due to prolonged squatting and failed to stand up smoothly. Xiaoke quickly helped her to her feet.
With a “beep,” the magnetic card triggered the latch to retract as it approached the sensor, and the room door automatically opened.
Not a sliver of light was visible through the narrow door gap; the room was pitch black.
Su Cancan took a deep breath several times, stepped onto the soft carpet, and closed the door behind her.
She was visiting her future colleague out of humanitarian concern, walking in the dark, she told herself.
Shen Luoyan must have washed up. Humid and warm air collided in the room, and a metallic, rusty smell attached to the violently moving water vapor drilled straight into her nose.
In the darkness, the central air conditioner control panel on the wall was faintly visible. Fumbling her way over, Su Cancan set the air to circulation mode.
The room was very quiet, so quiet that it seemed as if no one else was present.
Being slightly night-blind and afraid of bumping into and damaging something, she finally found the light switch.
“Get out.”
Su Cancan’s fingertip touched the plastic casing when an abrupt sound came out, hitting the hard wall and then entering her ears.
As always, it was cold, aloof, and unwelcoming.
Su Cancan paused. She couldn’t vent her anger on someone who had just suffered mental trauma. She retracted her finger and cautiously moved further in.
She didn’t know exactly where Shen Luoyan was. She took every step carefully. After her vision decreased, her hearing increased significantly. The rustling sound of fabric rubbing guided her to the bedside.
The tip of her shoe hit the bed frame with a muffled sound. Having reached her destination, she felt around the area, and finding no one, she sat down with relief.
The mattress beside her sank, and Shen Luoyan tensed up and rolled over, turning her back to her.
“Shen Luoyan?” Su Cancan tentatively called her name.
She wasn’t good at comforting people, but having gone through the same experience, having struggled and overcome it, the valuable experience she accumulated might help her. Su Cancan temporarily put aside her resentment and organized her words to offer guidance.
“You must have been scared. No one wants something like this to happen.”
“Sasaeng antis are indeed terrifying. Their behavior itself is against the rules. They lurk in your life, spying on everything about you in the name of love. The more they monitor you, the more their psychology changes, mistakenly believing their relationship with you is intimate. They want to control you. When they are not satisfied with your choices, they start pointing fingers, even resorting to illegal acts. It’s all their problem…”
As she spoke, the rotten meat, blood letters, and anonymous threat letters she had received flashed before her eyes. The first time, she was more panicked than Shen Luoyan. She reported it to the police, and the response she got was that the person involved was a minor and could only be warned. When she got home, she washed the hand that held the box over a hundred times, not daring to sleep or think about the object’s contents. She was so angry she smashed things, but now she could handle it with composure.
“You shouldn’t punish yourself,” she said in a deep voice. “Get some good rest.”
She had said most of what needed to be said. This kind of thing couldn’t be easily forgotten just by talking it out. Feeling that her task was complete and not expecting Shen Luoyan to speak, she glanced in the direction where Shen Luoyan might be, stood up, and prepared to leave.
“Don’t go.”
Su Cancan hadn’t stood firm, and her sleeve was pulled by a force from behind, causing her to fall back into her original position.
A hot, trembling body pressed against her back, and a strong scent of wood rushed to her nose.
She had never seen Shen Luoyan like this before. Her voice was tinged with sorrow, wet, and slightly vulnerable and endearing.
Showing weakness, for the first time, she showed weakness in front of her.
Adhering to the principle of seeing a good deed through, Su Cancan didn’t push her embrace away, enduring the unfamiliar intimate contact, and waiting for her to vent her emotions.
“I didn’t even see it clearly, a basin of blood was splashed over.”
“I don’t know what kind of blood it is, maybe chicken’s? Maybe pig’s? It’s so fishy, I smell so bad.”
Her back neck suddenly felt damp, and she trembled along with Shen Luoyan.
Su Cancan sighed, turned around, and hugged her back, patting her back gently like comforting a child.
“You don’t smell bad.” Su Cancan dramatically took a deep breath. “You smell very fragrant, even flowers aren’t as fragrant as you.”
Shen Luoyan rested her chin on Su Cancan’s collarbone: “It’s so scary. He said he has always considered me his wife, and felt that me participating in a dating show with a woman was cheating, betrayal, and that I was dirty.”
“He said splashing me was to get rid of bad luck, to make me reflect properly…”
Su Cancan didn’t interrupt her venting. She was like a stimulated child now, desperately needing care and companionship. Only after she completely poured out the garbage in her heart, got tired, and fell asleep, did Su Cancan slowly lay her down on the bed.
When she pried open Shen Luoyan’s hand clutching her own, Shen Luoyan mumbled a few words. Su Cancan good-naturedly stroked her to help her relax, and then quietly withdrew from the room.
Being a psychologist is not something you can just do. After receiving negative emotions, Su Cancan’s heart also felt heavy.
As her hand pressed on the cold metal doorknob, she looked back at the room and shook her head.
The door was opened from the inside, and the three people gathered at the doorway immediately surrounded her.
Shen Luoyan’s assistant, Xixi, spoke first: “Is Luoyan-jie okay?”
While Su Cancan was comforting Shen Luoyan in the room, the three assistants and managers outside didn’t delve into deep conversation but exchanged names.
Su Cancan gently closed the door: “She was tired and has already fallen asleep.”
“By the way, has the person who splashed the blood been caught?” Su Cancan recalled Shen Luoyan’s description. This kind of pervert should be punished.
Xixi nodded, and Liu Yimin took over the conversation: “The person who threw the box into our car was also caught. They asked us to go over when we have time to understand the situation.”
Su Cancan took a deep breath: “Alright, I’m going to wash my face.”
The weariness had not faded at all, but she wanted to resolve the issues as soon as possible.
“How about going tomorrow? The producer just sent a message saying they considered your physical condition and postponed the filming. Cancan-jie, you should rest first.” Xiaoke wrung her hands, worried for Su Cancan.
Su Cancan waved her hand. It was time to meet this lunatic.
