The Mad Beauty and the Sick Young Lady [Transmigration Novel] - Chapter 5
[How about we go watch the sunrise tonight?]
Jiang Zhuoye’s WeChat sent another message.
Su Li was already so shocked she was numb. She suspected this woman must have read her notebook and seen the entry about “watching the sunrise by the sea.”
[Is nighttime really okay?]
[To be precise, not night, but 2 AM. I’ll pick you up at your place. Driving there, we should arrive right around 4 AM.]
[Ah, so you’ll have to drive for four hours? Wouldn’t that be too tiring? Or should we… maybe change the time?]
[I’m busy during the day, so I only have time at night. Come?]
Su Li looked at the sentence Jiang Zhuoye sent, feeling her fingers tremble slightly.
She was slowly realizing that Jiang Zhuoye, to some extent, was more aggressive than a typical Alpha and certainly didn’t behave like an Omega.
From a societal perspective, Omegas are generally expected to be gentle and well-behaved, with their liveliness contained within certain limits. They rarely make rebellious moves.
Su Li herself was a perfect example. For 22 years, she had maintained the image of an elegant and demure Omega. Yet, even she felt that for years, she had been like an empty, hollow doll, unable to grasp her true desires and personality.
After waking up from her dream, she not only wanted to dump Ying Feiyan but also wanted to use the bucket list to truly live her life in the remaining two years.
But even now, she didn’t understand what her true self was like. Was it the usual obedient, elegant, and conventional self, or the exact opposite?
Against her better judgment, she typed out a single word:
[Coming.]
She had to explore, she had to take a step that deviated from her norm, only then could she sense what she liked, and what her true self desired… right?
Besides, Jiang Zhuoye was an Omega, not an Alpha, so she couldn’t really do anything to her. It should be quite safe.
Su Li couldn’t help but ask another question:
[It should be safe, right?]
On the other end of the phone, Jiang Zhuoye, staring at the screen, couldn’t help but show a wide, splitting smile. She quickly typed:
[Of course it’s safe!]
Jiang Zhuoye’s manager, Jia Sihan, looked over:
“Tsk tsk, why that look like you’re about to eat a child? Every time you smile like that, I feel like something big is about to happen. What’s up? Shouldn’t you let me in on it?”
Jiang Zhuoye kept her eyes on her phone:
“It’s nothing major, I’m just making a friend.”
Jia Sihan’s eyes widened:
“I’ve been with you for four years, and I’ve never seen you make a friend! Is it the girl who gifted you the car? What charm does she possess to make you finally bloom?”
Jiang Zhuoye put away her phone, casually tied up her long hair, and walked onto the set. She didn’t answer, but the smile lingering on her lips betrayed her good mood.
What charm? It’s just fun to pull a sweet and adorable heiress down and turn her into a “bad girl” similar to oneself.
Ying Feiyan had been in a foul mood lately. She had fired several slackers but had also deliberately held back from calling or texting Su Li, planning to give her a few days to cool off.
Jiang Zhuoye’s face occasionally flashed through her mind. She couldn’t help but remember the moment she held Jiang Zhuoye’s arm: the actress’s look of hurt, her watery eyes, and her pouting, pink lips…
Ying Feiyan had been working overtime every day these past few days. After getting home, she would subconsciously find Jiang Zhuoye’s movies and curl up on the sofa to watch them all night.
“This woman… she really knows how to cast a spell…”
However, no matter how many movies she watched or how much she appreciated Jiang Zhuoye’s face, Ying Feiyan was clear in her heart: she was engaged, and her fiancée was the most important person. Jiang Zhuoye was just a roadside wild flower.
She was not the type of scoundrel who thought “the grass is greener on the other side.” She appreciated the wild flower, but she was willing to be responsible for the “home flower.” Yet, the “home flower” wasn’t giving her a chance right now.
After holding back for over a week, Ying Feiyan even broke out in acne. Finally, she couldn’t resist and drove to the entrance of Su Li’s residential complex.
A top Alpha’s energy was incredibly high. Ying Feiyan worked until 1 AM, and the drive took an hour, so she arrived exactly at 2 AM.
She had a visitor’s pass for the complex and drove straight in without much trouble. But after entering, she called Su Li, and the call wouldn’t go through.
“Did she set a ‘do not disturb’?”
Ying Feiyan looked up at the Su family villa. The entire house was long asleep, with no lights on. Su Li must be sleeping now, she thought…
Ying Feiyan stared distractedly at the window of Su Li’s room.
She used to take Su Li’s adoring gaze for granted and didn’t feel it was particularly important. But now that the situation had changed, every time she saw the coldness in Su Li’s eyes, she felt heartbroken.
What happened to the beautiful girl who used to follow her and always looked at her with shy eyes? Everything had changed overnight… Ying Feiyan thought about it repeatedly for a long time but still couldn’t figure out what she had done wrong. She even felt she had done nothing, yet Su Li suddenly seemed like a different person.
More thoughts were useless. Ying Feiyan leaned against her car and quietly smoked a women’s cigarette. She liked the sea salt vanilla flavor, which was close to her own pheromone. Mixed with the autumn night wind, the smell wasn’t great.
Putting out the cigarette butt, Ying Feiyan was about to open her car door and leave when she suddenly saw a thin, sneaking figure emerge from the back door of the Su family villa.
The figure slowly approached the main road, constantly looking back, as if afraid of being discovered.
The more Ying Feiyan looked, the more familiar the person seemed. When the figure got closer, she asked in surprise:
“Su Li?”
Then, she immediately smiled, confidently thinking: See, Li Li can’t bear to lose me after all. She must have seen me outside her house and came down specifically to meet me.
In that case, I shouldn’t be too eager.
Ying Feiyan deliberately put on a serious face:
“It’s so late. It’s cold outside. Go back home!”
Su Li was dressed in black, wearing a thick puffer jacket. Suddenly emerging from the darkness into the streetlight, and then hearing Ying Feiyan’s voice, she jumped in fright.
She frowned tightly, looking at Ying Feiyan:
“Why are you here?”
Ying Feiyan thought: Is Li Li unwilling to admit she came for me? Is she sulking? Or is her self-esteem too high?
“I came to see you. I couldn’t get through when I called you and thought you were asleep. Li Li, let’s talk properly. Come into my car.”
Ying Feiyan opened her car door, made an inviting gesture, and then sat in the driver’s seat herself.
However, she waited for a long time, and besides the sound of the wind, there was no sound outside the car.
She peered out again, and the area next to her car was empty!
Ying Feiyan broke out in a cold sweat, thinking she had seen a ghost. She quickly looked around and saw Su Li was already walking toward the main entrance of the complex, having covered over ten meters, with no intention of getting into her car.
Ying Feiyan:
“???”
She closed the car door, started the engine, and slowly followed Su Li, constantly asking:
“Li Li, are you still angry? Are you mad about what happened backstage at the premiere that day? I swear I was only there to talk business!”
“Li Li, talk to me. Why do you want to break off the engagement? I want to marry you. Wasn’t that your dream since childhood?”
“Li Li, are you trying to kill me with worry? From our family backgrounds to our figures and looks, aren’t we a perfect match? Although we haven’t tested our pheromone compatibility, I believe it must be a perfect match if we do. Why don’t you come with me to test our pheromones tomorrow?”
Su Li remained silent the whole time, biting her lip and frowning, walking quickly, so fast that beads of sweat formed on her forehead.
The two wound through the long drive. Ying Feiyan violated the rules by driving into the pedestrian lane, arriving at the exit. Su Li had already left. Ying Feiyan had to explain profusely to the security guard before she could drive out.
Ying Feiyan drove out, looking for Su Li’s figure, and suddenly spotted Su Li bending over nearby and sliding into a sports car!
Low-slung and flat, the silver white paint gleamed in the deep night. Ying Feiyan only took one look before a wave of anger hit her. She sped up and blocked the sports car:
“Su Li! Wasn’t this the car you planned to give me? Who did you give it to?”
As soon as she spoke, Ying Feiyan saw an incredibly familiar face looking at her mockingly from the driver’s seat.
It was… Jiang Zhuoye!
Ying Feiyan felt the world had gone mad. Her “home flower” had given the luxury car meant for her to the “wild flower” outside!
“Ma’am, please move, or I’ll call the police.”
Jiang Zhuoye shook her phone. Her refined and stylish face was a perfect match for the sports car.
Ying Feiyan couldn’t help but look at Su Li in the passenger seat.
Su Li was also looking at her, her gaze as cold as ever, even carrying a hint of pity.
Su Li was thinking: Was my dream really wrong? Was Ying Feiyan really the female Alpha lead? Why did this female Alpha lead and the female Omega lead next to me not seem to have an ambiguous relationship, but rather seemed on the verge of becoming enemies?
It’s quite pathetic to watch.
Ying Feiyan clenched her jaw and said to Su Li:
“Li Li, if you want to go out with a friend late at night, can you let me accompany you next time? You’re both Omegas. It’s not safe to be outside alone. It’s better to have an Alpha.”
Su Li sneered and didn’t reply.
Jiang Zhuoye, however, opened her mouth in a surprised “Whoa”:
“You’ve reminded me. I should call a bodyguard company. They have dozens of types of Alphas to choose from. They’re paid, and they’ll definitely be more dedicated than those who play with feelings.”
Ying Feiyan:
“…”
How could a beautiful, fair-skinned woman like Jiang Zhuoye have such a… sarcastic mouth!
She had truly set herself up for a snub tonight and finally drove away.
Jiang Zhuoye put down her phone and drove.
Su Li sat in the passenger seat, her mood a little unsettled. She was deep in self-doubt.
How bad was her taste before? To have liked a person like Ying Feiyan for eight years?
People really need to get out more, or else they’ll mistake a piece of straw for a gold bar.
Su Li let out a soft sigh.
Under the alternating light and shadow of the streetlights, Jiang Zhuoye turned her head slightly:
“What’s wrong? Did you realize you still love her? You can tell me, it’s okay. I’m an Omega too, I can understand.”
Su Li shook her head:
“No, I just wonder why I was ever attracted to her. Seeing her now, she just seems like a clown.”
Jiang Zhuoye burst into laughter.
Su Li was surprised to find that “bell-like laughter” really existed! Someone could actually laugh so beautifully!
“Little girl, it’s not too late to wake up now.”
Jiang Zhuoye drove through the city and then along the long coastal avenue, finally arriving at an open beach.
She opened the trunk and pulled out a large bag of snacks, and even a blanket, tablecloth, and sunglasses, fully prepared.
It was Su Li’s first time seeing the sea at night, and she was genuinely excited. She spread her arms against the sea breeze, walking deep into the beach, stepping through the sand, and shouting loudly at the ocean.
“Su Li”
Jiang Zhuoye called out from behind her.
“Huh?”
Su Li turned around, her smiling teeth particularly bright in the dim light.
“Shout out what you want most right now.”
Jiang Zhuoye encouraged her with a smile.
“What I want most…”
Su Li pondered for a moment, then gathered her courage and shouted loudly:
“To live to the fullest”
Jiang Zhuoye narrowed her eyes, smiled, and joined in the shout:
“To live to the fullest”
The sea breeze swept past. Jiang Zhuoye lightly placed her hand on Su Li’s shoulder. Though they had only just met, they laughed with the same brilliance, like a pair of good sisters.
