The Mad Beauty and the Sick Young Lady [Transmigration Novel] - Chapter 3
The next day, Ying Feiyan arrived early, standing outside the Su family villa and calling Su Li.
Su Li was awakened from her sleep, a little irritable, and answered the phone with a sharp tone:
“It’s so early, you woke me up.”
Ying Feiyan was probably in a truly bad mood, her voice carrying a hint of impatience:
“Li Li, stop messing around, okay? I understood you weren’t feeling well yesterday. How about we reschedule the wedding? Or we can go register our marriage today. Let’s get the license first, and we can prepare for the wedding later.”
Su Li couldn’t help but sneer, suddenly feeling there was nothing left to say to a person like this.
“Didn’t my mother tell you yesterday? I just don’t want to marry you anymore, it’s not a health reason.”
Ying Feiyan fell silent for a moment, then said:
“Tell your family to open the gate. I’ll come up to your room, and we can talk properly. Li Li, you’ve always loved me. How could you suddenly…”
Su Li interrupted her:
“I did love you, genuinely, with all my passion. That love was as beautiful as a dream. But, I’ve woken up from the dream.”
Ying Feiyan completely failed to understand such an abstract statement:
“What are you talking about? Isn’t loving me enough? Is something wrong with the wedding plans, or do you want to wait a few years? I can wait for anything, Li Li, you are so wonderful, I can’t bear to lose you!”
Ying Feiyan rarely confessed her feelings so deeply. If Su Li had heard this a few days ago, she would have melted, but now her heart was completely unmoved, and she even felt a little like laughing.
“All these years… you never once told me that you loved me.”
Su Li stood up and walked to the window, where she could see Ying Feiyan’s figure.
Ying Feiyan was tall and handsome, currently looking up at Su Li’s window.
Upon seeing Su Li, Ying Feiyan suddenly grew excited and waved up at her:
“Li Li, I see you! Will you come down and we can talk? I’ll give you whatever sweet nothings you want, or we can double the size of the wedding. Please, come down and look at me!”
For a moment, Su Li wavered, but then a greater sense of weariness washed over her.
“It’s not about sweet nothings, and you don’t need to make them up. Let’s break up.”
Uttering those five words, Su Li drew the curtains, turned back to the bed, and hung up the phone, all in one smooth motion.
Outside, Ying Feiyan was both surprised and furious. She had never imagined the word ‘break up’ would come from Su Li’s mouth!
Hadn’t Su Li always followed her, looking at her with eyes full of adoration and affection, never changing all these years?
Ying Feiyan asked herself honestly, she did like Su Li, which is why she wanted to marry her. Su Li was such a great marriage partner! She would also be a support for her career and life in the future. Even if her health was poor and she couldn’t have children, Ying Feiyan was willing to adopt. She had already told Su Li all of this.
She, a top Alpha, the future creator of a commercial empire, had made such a huge sacrifice for Su Li. Didn’t Su Li know that?
The wedding was yesterday, with invitations sent out to many business partners two months ago. Ying Feiyan spent half the night dealing with the problems caused by the cancellation, and rushed over this morning to coax her, speaking gently despite her frustration, only to be met with a break up!
Ying Feiyan secretly gritted her teeth, gave a harsh middle finger towards Su Li’s closed window, and strode away.
Let this confused woman go reflect on her own! She didn’t have time to cater to her!
She might be saying break up so decisively now, but wouldn’t she eventually crawl back, crying and begging her to return? A relationship of so many years isn’t that easy to sever!
The roar of Ying Feiyan’s departing car faintly reached the room.
Su Li sat on the bed in a daze. After a long while, she called her best friend, Guan Jingxian.
Guan Jingxian was a 21-year-old excellent Alpha, lively, gossipy, and genuinely cared for Su Li. She arrived and showered Su Li with concern.
Su Li asked her to come out with her, and she readily agreed, though she was a little perplexed:
“Jiang Zhuo Ye! You like her? I can’t tell, how could you like that… that…”
Su Li calmly finished her sentence:
“That lunatic?”
Guan Jingxian nodded fiercely.
Su Li took a sip of vegetable juice and smiled slightly:
“The crazier she is… the more she attracts me.”
In the evening, Su Li and Guan Jingxian were in a luxury car, arriving at the large cinema hosting the premiere of Unicorn.
The two had already asked their family assistant to book seats in a good viewing spot, slightly towards the middle.
However, those attending the premiere were mostly media, producers, investors, or rival companies few were genuinely there to watch the movie. Everyone was crowding towards the front or the sides for good positions to ask questions later, leaving the middle seats less noticed.
After entering, Su Li was looking down, tidying her bag, when Guan Jingxian suddenly nudged her shoulder:
“Hey, look, doesn’t that person in the front look like Ying Feiyan?”
Su Li already had a feeling and looked up. Indeed.
Ying Feiyan was dressed impeccably in a suit, with newly styled hair the wavy curls of her brown long hair radiating casual charm. She was sitting in the very center of the first row, quite conspicuous, making it impossible for those on stage to ignore her.
“What the heck, what is Ying Feiyan trying to do? Is she trying to hook up with some minor celebrity, too? Are Omegas in the entertainment industry that appealing? Who is she trying to hook up with? Let me check the cast list is it this Li Shishi? Or Fang Zhi?”
Su Li curled her lips into a smile:
“It’s Jiang Zhuo Ye.”
Guan Jingxian gasped:
“Ah! Such a big name, with such a strange temper? Ying Feiyan dares to go after even her? Did you break off the engagement because you knew about their affair?”
Su Li didn’t answer. Of course, she knew the future of those two, but the breakup was simply because she had seen through Ying Feiyan’s character.
She had spent the whole day checking her phone, reading all sorts of news about Jiang Zhuo Ye, but something felt off.
The Jiang Zhuo Ye described in the novel was a self-reliant, gentle, kind, shy, and pure Korean drama heroine type. But the real life Jiang Zhuo Ye…

…
The internet was full of headlines like these, plus many videos: Jiang Zhuo Ye fiercely reprimanding a rude reporter, Jiang Zhuo Ye staggering down the street drunk at dawn, Jiang Zhuo Ye being taken to the hospital after a brawl…
In short, the real life Jiang Zhuo Ye had absolutely nothing to do with a Korean drama heroine. Instead, she was unconventional, extremely arrogant, and often broke rules and even laws.
It was very strange. The whole world seemed to be operating according to the novel’s rules, but Jiang Zhuo Ye, alone, was like a broken cog in this regulated machine.
Would this Jiang Zhuo Ye really flirt with Ying Feiyan at the premiere, as the novel plot suggested? Su Li was very curious.
The premiere began. The host introduced the event on stage and invited everyone to enjoy the movie.
Unicorn was an urban youth film blending fantasy elements. Jiang Zhuo Ye’s character, the heroine, was innocent, lively, charming, and pure. Even Su Li, who wasn’t interested in romance plots, watched with fascination.
When the screening ended, bright light beams suddenly illuminated the stage area in front of the screen.
Following the moving lights, a graceful, tall, and enchanting woman stepped elegantly onto the center of the stage. It was the film’s heroine, Jiang Zhuo Ye.
She was wearing a short black dress today, her long hair tied in a ponytail, making her lively and chic, perfectly echoing her character in the film.
Following her, the male lead and the director’s team walked in. Everyone seemed subtly intimidated by Jiang Zhuo Ye, hesitant to stand too close to her.
Jiang Zhuo Ye’s eyes were calm as she scanned the entire audience. Her gaze seemed to meet Su Li’s in the darkness for a few seconds.
Su Li’s heart was constantly pounding, and her throat was inexplicably ticklish. She covered her mouth and softly coughed twice.
The host began a lively interaction with the director, occasionally cueing the male and female leads. Jiang Zhuo Ye was quite cooperative; her answers were concise, but it was clear she was in a good mood, with a smile in her eyes.
She was a natural star. Even standing under the spotlights, the radiance she exuded was more dazzling than the lights themselves, constantly drawing Su Li’s attention.
The entire event went smoothly and ended quickly.
Ying Feiyan didn’t leave, so of course, Su Li and Guan Jingxian didn’t leave either. However, Jiang Zhuo Ye on the stage was the first to walk towards the backstage.
Ying Feiyan immediately jumped onto the stage and eagerly followed her. Su Li and Guan Jingxian also sneaked around a less noticed corner and went backstage.
A security guard blocked the backstage door. Ying Feiyan showed her business card. The title of Chairman immediately intimidated the guard. She then insisted that she had a collaboration with Jiang Zhuo Ye. Confused, the guard let her in.
It wasn’t so smooth for Su Li. She was no chairman, and the guard rudely shooed her away:
“Go away! Fans aren’t allowed backstage! You young girls, have you chased stars so much your brains are fried? Didn’t watching the show in the front suffice? Even if you go in, the celebrity won’t pay attention to you!”
Guan Jingxian stood in front of Su Li, but Su Li glanced into the backstage area.
Jiang Zhuo Ye, who had already walked quite a distance inside, suddenly turned around and saw Su Li.
Jiang Zhuo Ye blinked, smiled slightly, and walked over with extreme grace. She tapped the security guard’s shoulder:
“Let her in. I know her.”
The security guard was puzzled but had no choice but to let Su Li pass. Just as Guan Jingxian was about to follow, Jiang Zhuo Ye waved her hand, her smile sweet:
“Just her, please.”
Guan Jingxian was blocked by the guard’s unfeeling iron hand, her eyes wide, speechless with frustration.
Su Li controlled her wildly beating heart. It was the first time in her life she had been to an event’s backstage and the first time seeing where a celebrity works. She was very curious, but her upbringing made her control her eyes and expression, avoiding looking around. She simply followed Jiang Zhuo Ye.
The corridor seemed endless. That grassy scent kept wafting from Jiang Zhuo Ye. Su Li couldn’t resist taking several deep breaths, finding the smell truly wonderful.
The surrounding lights were dim. The two women, who had only met once, walked one after the other through the narrow passage.
A strange feeling welled up in Su Li’s heart.
They soon walked into the backstage area, which was bustling with makeup artists, agents, assistants, and the celebrities who had just been on stage for the promotion.
Ying Feiyan was standing in the middle of the room, arguing with a sharp looking woman. Seeing Jiang Zhuo Ye enter, she immediately dropped the woman and strode over:
“Miss Jiang, why aren’t you considering our endorsement anymore? Could you tell me… Li Li! What are you doing here!”
The moment she saw Su Li, Ying Feiyan’s eyes widened like brass bells, her face filled with disbelief.
Jiang Zhuo Ye raised an eyebrow, her tone excited:
“Oh, this is getting interesting.”
Su Li thought to herself, it’s a good thing there were no melon seeds here, or Jiang Zhuo Ye would probably find a chair, sit down, and start cracking seeds to watch the show.
Ying Feiyan walked over, grabbed Su Li’s arm, pulled her into a corner of the room, and lowered her voice to ask:
“Li Li, why did you come here? Are you keeping something from me? Did you follow me here? Have you always distrusted me? I came here to do business!”
Su Li shook her arm, but couldn’t free herself, her tone barely concealing her annoyance:
“Ying Feiyan, I didn’t follow you. The world doesn’t revolve around you. I came to see Jiang Zhuo Ye. Is it a crime for me to be her fan?”
Ying Feiyan looked completely unconvinced:
“What did you call me… How is that possible? You spend all day painting, you don’t watch TV series, and you only watch foreign movies. You don’t even know Jiang Zhuo Ye! You came for me, I won’t blame you for that, but can we solve this at home? Don’t interrupt my contract negotiations.”
Su Li was absolutely stunned by this person’s audacity. She began to wonder if she had been blind before. Ying Feiyan was so unwilling to listen, yet she used to think she was independent and had her own ideas. It was simply the height of absurdity!
“We have broken up. You have no right to control me. Let go of me.” Su Li tried to speak calmly.
Ying Feiyan, suppressing a belly full of rage, retorted stubbornly:
“What if I don’t let go?”
Before Su Li could speak, a soft, charming voice came from behind Ying Feiyan:
“Then I’ll help you, by removing your arm, okay?”
Su Li gasped:
“!!!”
Jiang Zhuo Ye was already standing beside Ying Feiyan, smiling sweetly and staring at her until the latter released her grip.
That wasn’t all. Jiang Zhuo Ye suddenly reached out and put her arm around Su Li’s shoulder:
“She’s telling the truth. The young lady didn’t follow you, Chairman Ying.”
Jiang Zhuo Ye’s presence calmed Ying Feiyan down considerably. She looked at Jiang Zhuo Ye’s hand on Su Li’s shoulder and gritted her teeth in displeasure:
“Miss Jiang, this Miss Su is my fiancée. Please don’t interfere in our private affairs. We can discuss our contract later.”
Jiang Zhuo Ye feigned a surprised look and turned to Su Li:
“You’re her fiancée?”
Su Li quickly shook her head:
“No, I told her we broke up. She just won’t accept it.”
Ying Feiyan said:
“Can a breakup be treated so casually?”
Jiang Zhuo Ye raised a hand:
“Of course it can. When the young lady says it’s over, it’s over.”
Su Li was stunned herself, turning to look at Jiang Zhuo Ye.
Jiang Zhuo Ye offered her a faint smile, her eyes filled with stars, carrying a sense of incredible innocence.
She tightened her arm around Su Li’s shoulder, then suddenly leaned closer to Su Li’s left ear and whispered:
“Don’t worry. I brought you in, and I will protect you.”
The whispered breath echoed in her ear, a tingling, soft, and numbing sensation. The voice was like a gentle song, flowing into her ear and settling into her heart.
Su Li couldn’t help but hold her breath.
