The Mad Beauty and the Sick Young Lady [Transmigration Novel] - Chapter 19.1
Jiang Zhuoye nodded in agreement, then suddenly raised her hand, her fingers brushing past Su Li’s ear.
Su Li flinched her ear sensitively.
“There was a piece of snow.”
Jiang Zhuoye’s voice was very soft, as light and airy as a snowflake, completely free of any worldly feeling.
It made Su Li wonder if she had eaten all the barbecue herself, and if this great beauty had only drunk juice…
The parking lot wasn’t far, but not close either. The two walked slowly, neither speeding up.
The snowflakes gradually got a bit bigger, falling on their hats and shoulders in a fine, dense white layer.
Su Li turned her head to look at Jiang Zhuoye’s hat and laughed:
“Your hat is white!”
Jiang Zhuoye tilted her head to look at her, her eyes gentle and bright:
“Yours, too.”
Su Li was wearing a brown down jacket, wrapped up tightly.
Jiang Zhuoye, however, was only wearing a simple overcoat, a baseball cap, and sunglasses. Her breath fogged up the sunglasses with every exhale, making it hard for her to see the road ahead.
When stepping down a small step, Jiang Zhuoye’s foot suddenly twisted, and she almost fell.
Instinctively, she reached out, felt the nearest person beside her, and gripped tightly to steady herself.
Once stable, she realized she was holding Su Li’s arm. She had used a bit too much force and pulled down half of Su Li’s loose down jacket.
Su Li, wearing half a down jacket and exposing a white turtleneck sweater, burst into undignified laughter.
“So you’re just like us ordinary Omegas delicate, soft, and easily pushed over?”
Jiang Zhuoye pouted slightly, huffing, and said haughtily:
“You’re easier to push over than I am!”
Su Li tentatively reached out to push Jiang Zhuoye’s shoulder:
“Let’s try it then!”
Jiang Zhuoye was indeed pushed backward, staggering a couple of steps before regaining her balance. She made a gesture to push Su Li back, but before she could, Su Li laughed and ran away.
The two chased and played in an empty area for a while. Su Li quickly ran out of energy, bracing her hands on her knees and panting.
Jiang Zhuoye ran over, her laughter bright and clear, and pushed Su Li backward with one hand.
Su Li was completely defenseless. The feeling of her body losing balance was so unfamiliar that her heart pounded wildly, her blood pressure instantly surged, and she felt completely overwhelmed. Her throat felt clogged with cotton, preventing her from screaming.
The wind whistled past. Just as her body was nearly parallel to the ground, a firm force suddenly wrapped around her waist, catching her entirely.
Su Li’s body was bent into an inverted U-shape, her head nearly hitting the ground, but her waist was firmly embraced by two hands.
Those two hands carried a familiar warmth and instantly pulled the down jacket tight. Su Li felt a rapid rise in temperature starting from her waist; soon, her face was flushed, her legs went weak, and she even felt a slight ache in her back.
Despite the thick clothing, the presence of Jiang Zhuoye’s hands was incredibly strong. Her heart was still pounding furiously, showing no sign of slowing down. All she could hear were the drumming sounds of the wind and her heartbeat.
“Ah ah ah…”
Su Li tried to stand up on her own, but this posture made it very difficult to exert any force. She struggled just to lift her head, and her core muscles had no power, making it impossible to stand up.
Jiang Zhuoye’s hand moved on Su Li’s back, quickly going up to support her head, while the other hand held her entire waist. The two hands worked together, pulling Su Li upright.
Su Li couldn’t help but say:
“Wait, I can stand on my own…”
The ground was slick. Su Li stood firm and walked a few steps, but Jiang Zhuoye only removed the hand from the back of her head. The hand around her waist seemed forgotten, still resting on her lower back.
Su Li felt as if her lower back was on fire, constantly heating up, whether due to the down jacket or the sudden exercise.
Her face was flushed. She couldn’t help but rub her face with both hands, then turned with a smile to look at Jiang Zhuoye:
“Alright, alright, you should take me home now. My family will worry if it gets any later.”
Jiang Zhuoye’s eyes were astonishingly bright. Although she showed no obvious expression, she radiated a captivating tenderness everywhere.
She stared at Su Li’s face and asked gently:
“I’m sorry, I was reckless just now. Are you hurt?”
Her hand was still on Su Li’s waist, rubbing back and forth. Through the down jacket, the sensation wasn’t distinct, but it was more enticing… making her heart itch and feel strange.
Su Li cupped her face with both hands, turning away:
“I’m fine, let’s hurry up and go.”
Su Li quickly walked several steps forward before Jiang Zhuoye finally removed her hand and followed, smiling.
By the time the two returned to Su Li’s residential community, the snow had become a bit heavier. The sky was dark, and the visibility from the headlights was very low. Jiang Zhuoye drove cautiously the entire way, and it was getting slightly late.
The Su family lived deep within the community. Su Li certainly wouldn’t walk that long distance herself and was about to call her family to have their car come pick her up.
Before she could make the call, she suddenly heard a “beep,” and the community’s access barrier automatically lifted.
“What’s going on?”
Su Li asked, astonished.
She looked again and saw a small card in Jiang Zhuoye’s hand it was clearly a resident’s access card!
Su Li:
“You’re actually a resident here?”
Jiang Zhuoye smiled with a hint of pride:
“I finished the paperwork this afternoon. Let’s go, neighbor, I’ll take you home.”
Su Li was completely stunned. She hadn’t expected Jiang Zhuoye to buy a house in her own community! Although the community was exclusively for the wealthy, and Jiang Zhuoye’s status made buying a house here suitable, the surprising thing was…
A bold idea popped into Su Li’s mind. She felt it was impossible but couldn’t help wanting confirmation, so she carefully tugged on Jiang Zhuoye’s sleeve:
“Um… why did you buy a house here? Is it… a little bit because of me?”
Jiang Zhuoye drove, her posture relaxed. Hearing this, she turned her head and smiled. The streetlight shone deep into her eyes, making her look absolutely radiant.
She said breezily:
“What do you think?”
Su Li was left speechless by the rhetorical question, but a feeling of warmth welled up in her heart.
She didn’t need any more explanation; she understood. Jiang Zhuoye must have bought a house in this community because of her.
She could understand that a movie star of Jiang Zhuoye’s caliber surely had multiple properties across the city, and buying one more house wasn’t strange. What was strange was that the great movie star was willing to consider this for her sake.
Did this mean that she was considered a relatively important friend in Jiang Zhuoye’s heart?
A friend whose proximity one would consider when buying a house!
Su Li only had one friend of this caliber, Guan Jingxian. Now, with the addition of another person, she was extremely happy.
This happiness lasted until she got out of the car at her front door.
Su Li glanced up and saw the porch lights bright. Li Zhenzhen and Aunt Zhang were standing under the awning with umbrellas.
Seeing Su Li get out of the car, Aunt Zhang quickly rushed over with an umbrella, escorting Su Li all the way into the house.
Su Li had planned to say goodbye to Jiang Zhuoye again, but Aunt Zhang didn’t give her the chance. She could only turn back to the car window, waving with a bright smile.
After returning under the awning, Su Li was about to greet her mother when she looked up and saw that Li Zhenzhen had walked over to the car with her umbrella.
Jiang Zhuoye also opened the car door, got out, and stood face to face with Li Zhenzhen.
Su Li was standing quite far away and couldn’t hear what the two were saying, which made her anxious.
She saw Jiang Zhuoye’s expression was gentle. She bowed slightly and politely to Li Zhenzhen, saying a few words. Li Zhenzhen’s back looked composed. After their conversation, Li Zhenzhen waved her hand, watching Jiang Zhuoye get back into the car.
After the car drove away, Li Zhenzhen returned with her umbrella, her expression serious.
Su Li asked tentatively:
“Mom, you met my friend. What do you think?”
She wouldn’t believe it her mother couldn’t possibly criticize an international movie star! As a friend, Jiang Zhuoye had no flaws whatsoever!
Li Zhenzhen pondered with a serious look for a while, then led Su Li indoors:
“How did you meet her?”
Su Li’s face flushed slightly. She found a comfortable room at home and had a late night, long talk with her mother, recounting the entire process of how they met and spent time together.
Of course, she omitted the part about Ying Feiyan’s pheromones causing her to enter estrus, only saying that when she stayed out before, she was staying with Jiang Zhuoye at a hotel.
Li Zhenzhen listened very attentively, as if listening to a company’s financial annual report, occasionally asking detailed questions, which Su Li answered one by one.
Finally, Li Zhenzhen delivered her verdict:
“Alright, I don’t see any problems with this person. You can continue interacting with her, but you must be mindful of boundaries. She’s much older than you and has far more social experience. Be careful not to be led astray by her. If anything feels wrong, tell me immediately. Don’t let things get secretive like they did with the Ying family girl, understand?”
Su Li felt the word “interacting” was a bit strange but couldn’t pinpoint why. She smiled and nodded in agreement.
Returning to her room, she immediately called Jiang Zhuoye:
“Did you get home?”
The sound of rushing water came from Jiang Zhuoye’s end. Her voice, mixed with the sound of water, seemed to carry a mist:
“I’m taking a shower. I’m staying in the community tonight.”
In other words, Jiang Zhuoye was currently taking a shower very close to her… She wondered what the beauty emerging from the bath would look like…
Su Li’s thoughts ran wild for a moment, and she smiled with raised eyebrows. Then, she heard the sound of a bottle being picked up on the other end, and she could almost imagine Jiang Zhuoye applying body wash.
“Is there something you need?”
Jiang Zhuoye asked from her end.
“Yes, yes, yes. I wanted to ask what you and my mom talked about by the car! My mom questioned me for a long time when she got back.”
Remembering the main issue, Su Li quickly asked.
“Nothing much, just some usual greetings, introducing myself, and what we did today. Also, I said I would come to visit tomorrow. Your auntie said she’s looking forward to it.”
“Ah! Why are you suddenly coming to visit? That’s too… too much…”
Su Li shivered, feeling strange. She and Jiang Zhuoye hadn’t known each other for very long, had they? And now she was coming to her house, meeting her parents, and using the formal phrase “come to visit”…
Jiang Zhuoye chuckled on the other end:
“Too much what? It’s normal for friends to visit each other. Besides, I’m your neighbor now, so isn’t it even more normal to pay a visit?”
Su Li couldn’t argue, and finally mumbled:
“Then wash properly, get very clean! My mom likes cleanliness!”
Jiang Zhuoye laughed out loud, replied with a “Mhm,” and the call ended.
