The Little Crybaby Continues to Court Death as a Cannon Fodder - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
But Yu Qing was still fuming. The foot resting in Xi Yue’s palm stepped down maliciously, grinding slowly and heavily against the center of his hand. “I know you’re in contact with Grandpa, but remember your position. Exactly whose person are you?”
The warm, smooth friction generated heat against the center of Xi Yue’s hand, causing it to slick with sweat. He practically prostrated himself on the floor, tilting his head to kiss Yu Qing’s ankle. “I am, naturally, the Young Master’s person.”
Yu Qing lowered his gaze, watching him for a moment before letting out a huff, seemingly satisfied. He shoved his other foot into Xi Yue’s hand as well, his face full of impatience. “Put them on quickly. Stop dawdling.”
The sudden blind date had left Yu Qing irritated, but he truly wanted to visit the hot springs. Before heading to the resort, they had to stop at the Lu Group to meet Lu Feng so they could travel together.
On the way, 556 began its plot narration.
【Lu Feng’s appearance is a major turning point in the plot. He is a formidable rival to the Protagonist Gong, Shang Ling.】 【Known as a playboy, Lu Feng uses a cynical exterior to mask his arrogant heart. His scandals are endless, yet who would know that Lu Feng is still a clean virgin?】 【He falls in love with Xi Yue at first sight—that stubborn silhouette struggling to maintain its posture is so enchanting to him.】 【To save Xi Yue, he incurs massive financial losses to break contracts just so Shang Ling will let go. Despite all he does, he never wins Xi Yue’s heart.】 【In the end, he becomes the best man at the wedding, finally letting go of his obsession.】
Yu Qing had zero interest in their romantic entanglements. What he was curious about was why Lu Feng was going on a blind date with him. This segment didn’t seem to exist in the original plot.
556 explained: 【The progress between the two protagonists is likely too slow. To move things along, the plot adjusts within a normal range.】 【There is a law of attraction between protagonists; the whole world conspires to make them fall in love. Arranging a rival for Shang Ling early on increases his sense of crisis.】 【Within three days, Shang Ling will come knocking.】
No wonder Grandpa suddenly arranged a blind date.
When the car reached the Lu Group, someone was already waiting at the entrance. Seeing the familiar license plate, they hurried forward.
“Where is Lu Feng?” Yu Qing rolled down the window. The sun was fierce.
The receptionist explained with a smile, “Apologies, Young Master. President Lu is currently handling a matter. He knows you have a habit of taking naps, so he asked me to bring you up. You can take your nap first.”
Yu Qing’s first impression of Lu Feng was abysmal. If he was busy, he could have sent word ahead of time. Waiting until he was at the door to say “Wait” was just playing with him.
But it was scorching outside. Even with the car’s AC, the perceived temperature was nearly 50°C. He looked at the man outside with an icy, expressionless face. The man was smiling, but his clothes were soaked with sweat; he must have been waiting in the sun for a long time. Yu Qing didn’t make things difficult and nodded, accepting the proposal.
Xi Yue opened the car door, and the two walked into the building together.
Lu Feng’s office was empty. Yu Qing asked the secretary how much longer he would be. The secretary looked conflicted. “It should be a while longer, a sudden emergency meeting…”
“I see,” Yu Qing interrupted, walking into the glass-walled office. He didn’t forget to instruct: “I’m taking a nap. Do not come in to disturb me.”
Xi Yue poured a glass of water and brought it to Yu Qing’s lips. When he opened his mouth, Xi Yue tilted the glass. The cool water rolled down his throat, dispelling the irritability brought by the heat. After drinking, he leaned back on the sofa and scrolled through his phone, eventually drifting off.
With a clack, the phone dropped to the floor, and his body slumped onto the sofa.
The butler happened to send Xi Yue a message. Xi Yue looked down at his phone, reporting on yesterday’s situation. No one noticed a small, slender white snake slither out from the corner of the sofa, crawling slowly over Yu Qing’s curled calves.
It slid into his shorts.
…
Yu Qing was woken up by a cold sensation. Something icy and slippery was traveling slowly near his inner thigh. Waking up in a daze, he saw a section of a wriggling white snake tail at the edge of his shorts.
At first, Yu Qing was confused. Then, realizing what it was, his eyes rolled back, and he nearly fainted.
“Xi… Xi Yue!”
Yu Qing turned his head, meeting Xi Yue’s gaze from the armchair. Because he had just woken up, his eyes were drowsy and tinged with a moist red at the corners. His expression was full of shock and fear, his lips trembling—he looked pitiful and fragile.
Xi Yue stood up and approached. Yu Qing didn’t dare speak loudly, whispering in a trembling voice, “Inside… there’s a snake inside!”
Xi Yue first checked the sofa but found nothing unusual until his gaze landed on Yu Qing’s thigh. Beneath the shorts, a thumb-thick shape was constantly shifting.
Xi Yue immediately knelt before the sofa, leaning forward. He forcefully pulled Yu Qing’s knees apart and lowered his head into space, focusing on finding the snake.
Caught between his terror of the snake and shock at Xi Yue’s behavior, Yu Qing looked down blankly, only able to see the crown of Xi Yue’s head. He couldn’t see Xi Yue’s face at all.
Xi Yue fumbled around inside the shorts, but the snake was too small and cunning. Every time he grabbed the tail, it would slip away with its flexible body. Gradually, it tested the edge of the pure white fabric and decisively ducked into the elastic band.
Yu Qing was completely paralyzed with fear. He lowered his head slightly and gripped the hair on the back of Xi Yue’s head. This caused Xi Yue to look up and lock eyes with him. Those beautiful eyes were brimming with tears and helplessness.
“Don’t be afraid, Young Master,” he soothed. “It’s a pet snake; it shouldn’t bite. I’ll catch it immediately.”
For better access, Xi Yue knelt on the sofa cushion, lifting Yu Qing by the ankles. His waist was suddenly suspended in the air before a pillow was tucked underneath him. Xi Yue’s other hand chased into the elastic band, searching for the snake.
His fingertips sank into the full, rounded soft flesh. The touch was warm and supple. After touching almost every inch of territory, Xi Yue finally snatched the mischievous, wandering snake.
There was a box on the coffee table, likely meant for the pet. After putting the snake in and closing the lid, Xi Yue felt his sleeve being tugged. He turned back to see a pair of helpless, terrified eyes.
“Is the snake poisonous?” Yu Qing asked with a trembling voice.
Yu Qing hadn’t seen it clearly, only catching a glimpse of the tail. Xi Yue was different; he had seen it clearly. It was an albino pet snake, non-venomous.
His gaze lingered on the nervous, beautiful face before him. The mouth was trembling with fear, and further down was the slender white neck…
Yu Qing’s face was full of panic. “I think I was bitten…”
“Is it poisonous?”
“Where?” Xi Yue asked instead of answering. “Where were you bitten?”
Yu Qing froze, then propped himself up and snapped, “Does that have anything to do with whether it’s poisonous?!”
To his surprise, Xi Yue nodded solemnly. “Mhm, it matters.”
Yu Qing lacked common sense in this area, and he was terrified of snakes and cold-blooded animals. Now that he thought he was bitten, his brain was filled with fear, making him unable to spot the flaws in Xi Yue’s logic.
“Here.”
His voice was as quiet as a mosquito as his finger trembled, pointing to his right inner thigh. After speaking, he turned red with shame and anger. “It hurts!”
“Is it poisonous or not?”
“I didn’t see clearly.” Xi Yue added, “It looked poisonous. We’re far from a hospital; if we call an ambulance now, it might be too late.”
Yu Qing was already afraid; hearing it might be poisonous, he became even more sluggish due to the psychological effect. At this critical moment, the system went offline—no matter how he called, there was no response. He was too scared to move, asking blankly, “Then… then what do we do?”
Under his anxious and terrified gaze, Xi Yue knelt back in front of the black leather sofa and reached for his waistband.
Yu Qing’s face went deathly pale with fright. He swung his arm and gave Xi Yue a slap, asking fiercely, “What are you doing!”
The slap wasn’t particularly painful; it was simply that Xi Yue hadn’t been on guard, so his face was knocked to the side. He reached up to touch his cheek and turned back to look at Yu Qing.
Yu Qing had his legs drawn up in the corner of the sofa. His feet, encased in pure white socks, were pressed against the black leather. The way he held himself tightly only made the scene look more erotic. With a face full of wariness and disheveled hair, he truly made one want to bully him.
Xi Yue sighed helplessly. “This is the only way now, Young Master.”
Yu Qing realized instantly—Xi Yue intended to suck the venom out. Although it had no scientific basis, right now… there seemed to be no other way.
But the spot where he was “bitten” was quite high up. The slender white fingers guarding himself were shaking. The proud Young Master still couldn’t accept doing such a strange thing in someone else’s office.
“Be good.”
Xi Yue knew Yu Qing cared deeply about his dignity. He leaned in again, kneeling before him, and spoke in a voice that was gentle yet firm.
“Let go of your hands.”
