The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 5
The low-profile, all-black business van pulled up beneath a skyscraper. Wang Gu, sitting in the driver’s seat, pulled out his phone and was about to call Sang Weilian when he spotted two figures walking out of the building’s corridor, one after the other.
Wang Gu froze behind the car window.
The person in front wore a white sleeveless turtleneck sweater and black mid-length shorts, with high-top sneakers on his feet. Despite the mask, sunglasses, and baseball cap, Wang Gu could tell it was definitely Sang Weilian. As for the one following behind, who was half a head taller than Sang Weilian… could that be the Alpha mentioned on the phone?
Wang Gu watched with wide eyes as this Alpha took the initiative to open the car door for Sang Weilian, waited for him to get inside, and then sat in the car from the other side.
After buckling his seatbelt, Sang Weilian removed his sunglasses and mask, asking Wang Gu with a look of confusion, “Not leaving?”
“Ah… oh! Leaving, we’re leaving right now.” Wang Gu snapped back to reality instantly. As he started the engine, he asked hesitantly, “He is…?”
“Lu Lin.”
After Sang Weilian’s brief introduction, Lu Lin nodded slightly and took the initiative to greet him. “Hello, Mr. Wang. I am Lu Lin.”
“The… Alpha from the phone call?” Wang Gu already had the answer in his heart, but he couldn’t help asking again.
Sang Weilian arched an eyebrow. “Do you think I can produce three different Alphas for you in three days?”
Wang Gu shook his head repeatedly. “Better not. The PR team would be worked to death.”
He really wanted to ask Sang Weilian why he brought Lu Lin along, but considering the other party was present, it felt inappropriate to ask directly. He planned to wait until later.
In the back seat, Sang Weilian stopped talking. He stretched out his body and tilted his head to the side, intending to catch up on some sleep.
Last night, he had sent Lu Lin to sleep in the guest room.
Alone in the bedroom, he had slept for over four hours thanks to the soothing mountain spring-scented pheromones flowing in his blood. Although it was much better than the total of four or five hours he’d managed over the previous few days combined, it was still far from enough.
Pheromone Disorder caused him frequent insomnia. Having Lu Lin around allowed him to sleep soundly, but he didn’t want to succumb to the sense of dependency brought about by a mere temporary marking.
Because a temporary mark lasted only seven days. Once the seven days passed, the bite mark on the gland at the back of his neck would completely disappear, and the mountain spring pheromones injected into his body would dissipate.
The instinctive attraction between an Alpha and an Omega (AO) was like addictive caffeine; the higher the compatibility, the stronger the addiction. He understood perfectly the principle that it is easy to go from frugality to luxury, but difficult to return to frugality.
Although he had made an agreement with Lu Lin to maintain a long-term relationship, Sang Weilian never intended for this relationship to last too long from the very beginning. Once his Pheromone Disorder was cured, it would be the end of this relationship.
To this end, he would try his best to avoid immersing himself in the pleasure and joy brought by pheromones unless absolutely necessary.
As Sang Weilian’s breathing slowed, a long silence fell over the car.
Wang Gu once again peeked through the rearview mirror to observe Lu Lin.
This time, Lu Lin’s gaze met his directly.
Embarrassed, Wang Gu tried to look away, only to find that Lu Lin had moved his gaze a step ahead of him.
What? Was meeting his eyes just a coincidence?
Did this guy named Lu Lin actually not notice him peeking?
Wang Gu felt something was off, yet he had no clue what it was.
He didn’t have time to think much more because, in the next second, he saw Sang Weilian, who had been sleeping in the opposite direction, subconsciously lean against Lu Lin. He grabbed the other’s arm with great dependence, his head tilted, revealing the back of his neck that had been hidden by the turtleneck.
On it, a clearly visible bite mark covered the gland.
Damn!
As a Beta, Wang Gu realized belatedly—he thought Sang Weilian had just spent a night of passion with this Alpha, but he actually let him bite his gland?
Was it too late for him to start drafting the romance PR statement now?!
Lu Lin had zero interest in what Wang Gu was thinking. His downcast eyes were fixed on Sang Weilian, brimming with deep possessiveness and affection.
Restraining the urge to kiss Sang Weilian, he tucked Sang Weilian’s collar in for him and lowered his own posture, letting Sang Weilian find the most comfortable sleeping position.
After a good sleep, Sang Weilian felt refreshed when he woke up.
Before getting out of the car, Lu Lin handed him a bottle of pheromone blocker from his bag. “Brother, this.”
Sang Weilian had almost forgotten; he was covered in the scent of Lu Lin’s pheromones, which other AOs would definitely smell. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he had to use blockers to mask the pheromones until the temporary mark faded.
He took it, sprayed it twice on his neck, and then instructed, “Wait in the car.”
“Okay. I wish you everything goes smoothly, Brother,” Lu Lin blessed him with a smile.
As he watched Sang Weilian and Wang Gu walk away, the phone belonging to Lu Lin, who was left alone in the car, lit up. It was a message from Wan Tianhai.
Wan Tianhai: Boss, the office has been tidied up according to your requirements. But do we really not need to put out a nameplate?
LLin: No nameplate.
LLin: From today onwards, you are the Acting President.
With a calm expression, Lu Lin lightly tossed out a bombshell.
Wan Tianhai: …Huh?
At the Police Station—
Sang Weilian sat in the interrogation room, calmly recounting the events of that day. He cooperated with the police to answer several questions. Half an hour passed, and he wasn’t affected by the various mixed pheromones in the station at all.
Sure enough, Lu Lin’s pheromones were extremely effective at suppressing his disorder, which significantly improved Sang Weilian’s mood, despite the unpleasantness of the case.
As he was leaving, he asked, “Officer, may I ask how long someone can be sentenced for this situation?”
“According to China’s current Omega Protection Law, intentionally and maliciously releasing rut-period pheromones in a public place to suppress an Omega can result in a sentence ranging from one to three months. The specifics depend on the subsequent judgment,” the officer replied.
“Alright. Thank you for your hard work,” Sang Weilian nodded in thanks and quickly walked out of the police station with Wang Gu, who had finished the arrangements.
Many staff members stared at Sang Weilian. It wasn’t until he left the station that they began to whisper.
“Sang Weilian is seriously so handsome!!”
“He’s nothing like the rumors. He’s actually quite polite.”
“Sigh, those words online are all half-true and half-false. Look at this incident; he’s completely the victim, but the things people say online are so nasty.”
“Exactly. When the official report comes out, I’ll be the first to repost it!”
“Am I the only one curious about who he spent his heat with?”
“Doesn’t he hate Alphas? Maybe he relied on suppressants…”
“I just said the online rumors aren’t credible. Maybe the recording was fake too!”
Outside the police station, Wang Gu seized the moment before they got back to the car to ask, “Why did you bring that Alpha today? And did he mark you?”
“Temporary mark. It’ll be gone in a few days,” Sang Weilian said nonchalantly.
“Does he know about your Pheromone Disorder?”
“He doesn’t.” Sang Weilian stopped walking. “Any other questions? Ask them all at once.”
“Are you going to bring Lu Lin with you whenever you go out from now on? Are you in a relationship with him? When did you start dating? Should I prepare a romance PR draft for you in advance? What’s his background? How old is he? He isn’t the type who has ulterior motives, is he? Did you take contraceptive measures during the heat?”
The string of questions was like a machine gun, firing non-stop. Wang Gu took a long breath, finally stopping.
Sang Weilian was so speechless he laughed. “Of course we aren’t dating. Didn’t you all suggest I find a stable partner? I don’t repel his pheromones, and they help alleviate my illness. Plus, he can satisfy my physical needs. It’s a win-win situation.”
Wang Gu looked suspicious. The more he listened, the more he felt something was wrong. A stable partner but not a couple?
“Go to the company first. Later, help me contact Ma Dongdong. I want that role of CEO Miao in The Glorious President,” Sang Weilian mentioned the matter of the role.
“Ah? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t act in web dramas?” Wang Gu was puzzled.
“It’s not for me; it’s for Lu Lin. If the scandal is resolved smoothly, I plan to recommend Lu Lin to sign with Guangyue,” Sang Weilian said in a tone so flat it was as if he were saying the weather was nice today.
Wang Gu jumped up instantly. His voice rose, but fearing others would hear, it turned into a sharp, low shout: “Sang Weilian! Are you sugardad—”
An abrupt phone ringtone interrupted his outburst. Wang Gu, still wide-eyed, pulled out his phone. His expression changed instantly as he pressed the answer button.
“Assistant Song? Yes, right. The boss came in today?”
“He’s already at the company?”
“Alright, we’ll be there right away!”
He hung up and temporarily threw the previous matter to the back of his mind, saying excitedly, “The new boss has come to work!”
“Then let’s go.” Sang Weilian quickly sat back in the car, giving Wang Gu no further chance to wail.
Avoiding the eyes of reporters, they drove the car into the parking lot. An Omega dressed in a suit stood not far away.
He seemed to have been waiting for a long time. Seeing the car stop, he walked forward quickly.
Wang Gu shook his hand respectfully. “Assistant Song, sorry to trouble you to lead the way.”
Song He was a CEO’s assistant who had just joined the company a few days ago after being screened by Lu Lin. He had signed relevant confidentiality agreements with Lu Lin.
His gaze swept seemingly unintentionally over Lu Lin, who stood at the very back, then looked at Sang Weilian, and finally settled on Wang Gu’s face. He smiled and said, “It’s no trouble. It’s my job.”
The group took the high-level elevator straight to the 57th floor.
The elevator doors opened, and the entire 57th floor was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Song He said, “The new Acting President doesn’t like noisy environments, so it’s relatively quiet here.”
“Acting… President?” Wang Gu thought he had misheard.
“Yes.” Song He didn’t explain much and quickly led them to stand before the door of the President’s office.
He raised his hand and knocked three times. Hearing the word “Enter” from inside, he pushed the door open and stepped aside to make room for the three of them.
The scent of white wine pheromones wafted through the air. A tall, burly Alpha turned around with a cold, hard expression.
Upon seeing Lu Lin appear, his body stiffened, and he subconsciously retracted all of his pheromones.
Wang Gu let out an “Ah”: “You are…” The “gangster bodyguard” from the elevator entrance!
Song He introduced, “This is the Acting President, Mr. Wan Tianhai.”
Wang Gu: Crap!
Sang Weilian narrowed his eyes, having zero favorable impression of this deputy for the new boss who was still “skipping work.”
Lu Lin, standing at the back of the group, maintained a faint smile throughout. In his ink-colored eyes, an extremely oppressive gaze fell upon Wan Tianhai.
Wan Tianhai’s breath hitched. He understood this was Lu Lin’s silent warning.
Under the gaze of his top boss, he could only introduce himself as stiffly as a robot: “Hello everyone, I am Wan Tianhai, currently serving as the Acting President.”
He roared in self-abandonment internally: The real President is right behind you guys!!!
