The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 4
As the relationship was settled, Sang Weilian finally allowed his mind to relax.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sunlight was brilliant. Inside the bedroom, the previous mess had been cleaned up entirely; the bedding and pillows had been replaced with new ones, fluffy and soft. His body felt clean and refreshed, and he had been changed into clean pajamas.
He moved his aching legs. Although there was some soreness in a certain place, there was no lingering, uncomfortable stickiness.
Coupled with the gentle, cool scent of mountain spring pheromones enveloping him, Sang Weilian felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He let out a yawn.
Lu Lin asked softly, “Brother, do you want to sleep a little longer?”
Sang Weilian shook his head. He had long been accustomed to high-intensity work; being a bit weak in the knees and sore in the waist wasn’t enough to keep him bedridden.
Lifting the covers, he stepped barefoot onto the soft, gray cashmere carpet and gripped the edge of the bed to stand up.
In the next second, his legs as if they had lost all sensation went so numb that he couldn’t keep his balance at all, toppling forward.
Lu Lin was quick to react, catching him instantly. Not only did he not tease him, but he also provided a very considerate excuse: “Brother, are you okay? Omegas who have just finished their heat usually go through a brief period of adaptation.”
Sang Weilian’s palms pressed against the other man’s chest muscles, where a series of crisscrossing red scratch marks met his eyes.
Lu Lin was still wearing his original black shirt and trousers, which should have looked normal, except for the fact that every single button on the black shirt had vanished.
The culprit, Sang Weilian, shifted his gaze awkwardly and followed the excuse provided with a stiff face: “I’m fine. Carry me out first, then go change your clothes.”
Dammit! How embarrassing!
Is my endurance really that weak?!
Did I lose my mind during sex? I left so many marks!
Lu Lin found the current Sang Weilian inexplicably cute, but he knew better than to stare right now; he had to save the man’s pride.
He said with some feigned difficulty, “I didn’t bring any other clothes. I used the washing machine at your place to wash this set, but does it look too untidy?”
As if burned, Sang Weilian quickly pulled his hand away and rested it on Lu Lin’s shoulder, saying magnanimously, “Wear mine. Except for the cabinet on the east side of the dressing room, you can wear anything.”
A sharp glint flashed through Lu Lin’s eyes for a fleeting second, quickly replaced by a look of sincere and pure gratitude. He obediently agreed and leaned down to pick Sang Weilian up steadily.
With their skin touching, Sang Weilian felt uneasy and kept his eyes lowered.
Lu Lin originally intended to carry him to the sofa in the living room, but just as they left the bedroom, Sang Weilian’s stomach let out a growling protest.
Hunger dispelled the awkwardness. Sang Weilian said directly, “Call and order some food.”
“I can cook,” Lu Lin asked shyly and nervously. “Can I use your kitchen, Brother?”
Because he was always busy, Sang Weilian spent most of his time living on film sets. On the rare occasions he was home, he usually just ordered food from a few fixed restaurants. Hearing this, he raised an eyebrow: “Sure. There are ingredients in the fridge that the housekeeper bought. Use whatever you want.”
“Okay. Do you have any dietary restrictions?” Lu Lin asked. He shifted to holding him with one arm while using his free hand to diligently lay out a soft cushion and a thick lumbar support for him.
Sang Weilian leaned back against the chair and stretched out his body. “I don’t eat heavy oil or spicy food. No cilantro, scallions, garlic, or ginger.”
“You don’t eat spicy food?” Lu Lin’s expression showed a moment of surprise.
“No. Why?” Sang Weilian found it strange.
Lu Lin spoke truthfully: “In your first starring movie, you ate a lot of very spicy hotpot.”
“That was for the role,” Sang Weilian said nonchalantly. “You’ve seen my debut work?”
“Of course!” Lu Lin nodded emphatically. “I am…”
He originally wanted to say he was Sang Weilian’s fan, but remembering the incident with the Alpha fan at the event a few days ago, he changed his wording: “I am a fan of your movies!”
Sang Weilian smiled and said, “The whole world is a fan of my movies.”
He radiated confidence, shining like a brilliant morning star.
Lu Lin’s heart hammered against his ribs. His eyes were filled with infatuation and his fingertips felt numb; the mountain spring pheromones in his body began to stir due to his shifting emotions.
His Alpha instincts made him desperately want to pull the Omega he had temporarily marked into a fierce embrace—ideally, to bite down once more on that delicious gland scented like wild roses.
After a moment, he lowered his gaze, suppressing the restless pheromones within him and steadying his voice: “I’ll go change first, then I’ll cook.”
Sang Weilian’s attention was focused on his phone, which he had just turned on. He didn’t notice Lu Lin’s reddened ears or the intense emotions surging in his eyes.
Pushing open the dressing room door, the sensor lights flickered on automatically, revealing an array of clothing.
Lu Lin had been in here earlier while changing the sleeping Sang Weilian into his pajamas. The cabinets to the east were filled with clothes sponsored by various brands glamorous, exquisite, and luxurious. However, from start to finish, Lu Lin’s gaze was firmly drawn to the cabinet on the south side.
This area held loungewear. Among them was a set identical to the one Sang Weilian was currently wearing, but exactly one size larger.
Content, Lu Lin changed into the loungewear he had picked out earlier. He folded his ruined clothes and placed them in a bag before walking naturally toward the kitchen.
Sang Weilian, who was on the phone, heard the movement and glanced over. Seeing the man in a matching pair of pajamas, he didn’t find it strange; instead, he felt very satisfied.
Because the buttons were fastened all the way to the top, hiding all the scratch marks, his heart felt much more at ease. Even looking at Lu Lin’s handsome face, he felt that a score of one hundred points wasn’t enough he deserved ten thousand.
On the other end of the line, Wang Gu was oblivious. After grumbling for a while about Sang Weilian losing contact during his heat, he asked with concern, “Are you okay? How is your body feeling now? Do you want me to call a doctor to check on you?”
In three years of working together, this was the first time Sang Weilian had gone off the grid because of his heat. If he hadn’t received a message the afternoon the incident occurred, he would have called the police long ago.
“I’m fine,” Sang Weilian pulled his thoughts back. “There are too many messages. Just tell me the highlights.”
A normal Omega’s heat cycle occurs once every three months and lasts for seven days. However, due to his Pheromone Disorder, his heat had always been unstable. The last one was six months ago, and this time it ended after only three days.
Three short days had resulted in countless messages, making him frown instinctively.
Wang Gu understood immediately and said, “The Alpha from that day has been detained. The medical assessment shows he was in his rut cycle. He intentionally took suppressants and used a scent blocker to pass through the security check.”
“Fortunately, the organizers’ emergency measures were very good. No other Omegas on-site were affected, ex-except for you. But because you were still in your heat, the police can only issue a seven-day detention for now.”
“What if I personally step forward?” Sang Weilian asked, his eyes cold.
“If you step forward, it naturally won’t be as simple as a detention. However, if the news of your illness leaks out…” Wang Gu was instinctively worried about public opinion.
“Don’t worry too much. The police will protect my privacy,” Sang Weilian said calmly. The Omega Protection Laws in Huaguo were very comprehensive, and besides, he trusted the professional ethics of the police.
Wang Gu thought about it and found it reasonable. “True. I’ll contact the police in a bit then. Is your heat completely over? Are you really, really okay?”
“Rea—” Before Sang Weilian could finish, a bowl of steaming tremella and goji berry soup appeared in front of him. He asked casually, “Is there sugar in it?”
“Yes,” Lu Lin replied softly.
Sang Weilian took the spoon handed to him and had a taste. The sweetness was just right—not cloying or overwhelming, but very fragrant and soothing.
He offered a casual compliment: “It tastes good.”
A brilliant smile immediately bloomed on Lu Lin’s face, as if the words “I was praised” were written across his forehead. “The main course will be ready in a moment.”
With that, Lu Lin returned to the kitchen to keep busy.
Wang Gu, hearing another person’s voice on the other end, raised his tone: “Is someone at your house? Who are you talking to?”
Sang Weilian took another sip of the soup before answering, “An Alpha, of course. Have you ever seen an Omega spend their heat alone?”
“…You,” Wang Gu answered reflexively, before adding a few words, “In the past.”
Then, the realization hit him, and he fell into a long, shocked silence.
Did he hear that right?
Sang Weilian spent his heat with an Alpha?
And this Alpha was actually allowed into Sang Weilian’s home?!
“Are—are you sure? You weren’t for forced?” Wang Gu stammered in fright. Rather than going to the police station for a statement, he felt that the most important thing right now might be visiting with a doctor.
Sang Weilian sneered. “Who do you think could force me?”
Wang Gu choked.
That’s true. Who would dare force this ancestor? They’d have to be tired of living.
“Brother, the noodles are ready.” Lu Lin placed a steaming bowl of tomato beef brisket noodles in front of Sang Weilian.
Seeing that it looked, smelled, and tasted excellent, Sang Weilian found himself eating a bite with a sense of anticipation. The tomato broth was sweet and sour, very flavorful; the beef brisket was stewed until tender, and the noodles were very chewy.
He hadn’t had something so suited to his taste in a long time. He didn’t hold back his praise: “Your cooking skills are quite good.”
Lu Lin immediately beamed with joy. “I’m glad it suits your appetite.”
“You should serve some for yourself and eat together.” Sang Weilian wasn’t about to let his newly-settled “newcomer” stand and watch him eat.
“Okay.” Lu Lin was very obedient, going to serve himself a bowl of noodles and sitting across from Sang Weilian to eat quietly.
He sat with upright posture and an extraordinary temperament; it was clear he was well-bred.
Seeing that there was no sound from the other end of the phone, Sang Weilian finished a piece of beef and urged, “Wang Gu, what else?”
Wang Gu “ah-ed” and “oh-ed” for a moment, snapping out of his state of disbelief. The speakerphone amplified his voice: “The netizens are currently having a big controversy over what happened at the event. Many people are fishing in troubled waters, leaving comments on the official Siny Headphones Weibo asking to change the spokesperson. Some even went to Diamond’s page, but the brands haven’t responded yet.”
“From my observation, the brands don’t seem to have any intention of terminating your contract.”
“But facing such massive public pressure, they can’t keep stalling. So, I’ve been to the company several times over the last few days. The new boss hasn’t taken office yet, but a new assistant surnamed Song has arrived.”
Sang Weilian sneered. “I remember someone telling me last time that the new boss is very serious about work? Wu Liao has been gone for so many days, and this new boss still hasn’t shown up?”
The “new boss,” Lu Lin, stiffened while holding his chopsticks: “…”
“According to the Chairman’s assistant, the new boss seems to have some business to attend to and will be in in a few days…” Wang Gu explained.
Sang Weilian mocked, “Mhm, a very busy man. It’s better to hire my own lawyer than to rely on others.”
The various rumors had been fermenting for over a week now, showing a trend of getting worse. Stalling any longer wouldn’t be good for the brand or his future career development.
The artist contracts at Guangyue Entertainment clearly stipulated that all PR matters must go through approval, otherwise, a breach of contract fee based on their market value must be paid.
He didn’t get along with Wu Liao, and Wu Liao had previously ignored the PR applications Wang Gu submitted. He wasn’t about to give Wu Liao money for nothing. Now that the situation had changed, he knew how to prioritize.
“Tomorrow, after I finish my statement at the police station, I’ll stop by the company. If that new boss still isn’t there, I’ll handle things myself. There’s no need to renew my artist contract when it expires this year,” Sang Weilian instructed.
With a clink, the spoon in Lu Lin’s hand hit the edge of the bowl. Fortunately, it didn’t catch Sang Weilian’s attention.
He stared down at the noodles in his bowl, suddenly finding them tasteless.
His beloved was going to run away.
Wang Gu’s supportive voice came through: “I agree! I’ll follow you when the time comes! You’ll be successful no matter where you are!”
Lu Lin’s grip on his chopsticks tightened, his thin lips pressed into a line.
Great, even the manager is starting to poach people.
Hanging up the phone, Sang Weilian had finished his noodles. He set down his chopsticks and met Lu Lin’s fixed gaze.
Ah, he had forgotten to tell Wang Gu about the movie role.
He cleared his throat and asked, “Are you signed yet?”
Lu Lin paused for a moment and shook his head. “Not yet.”
“That works. Tomorrow, come to the company with me. If things go well, I’ll arrange for you to sign with Guangyue. If not, I’ll set up my own studio and you can be under my name. I’ll handle the movie stuff after we finish our business tomorrow.” Sang Weilian felt his plan was perfect; surely Lu Lin would be very grateful.
Sure enough, in the next second, Lu Lin said with a wide smile, “Okay! Brother, you are truly too good to me!”
Inside, however, he gave a helpless, bitter smile: This is going to be troublesome…
