- The Honest Man Was Targeted by His Ex-Boyfriend's Alpha Brother
- Chapter 5 - Innuendo: "Let me see your sincerity"
Chen Wang breathed in a mouthful of car exhaust. Looking down at his wet, filthy trouser legs, his anger flared instantly.
Out of nowhere, a fist swung toward him like a lightning bolt. It connected solidly, knocking Chen Wang to the ground. His right cheek swelled up immediately, and his teeth sliced into the soft inner lining of his mouth, adding the sharp tang of blood to his breath. The blow left his ears ringing, and he could not even hear the circle of insults surrounding him.
Chen Wang was never the type to take a beating lying down. He rolled over and staggered to his feet. Even as he was pushed and shoved, he fought back defiantly, lunging blindly through the crowd. In the chaos, he rushed toward the road.
The roar of a high-powered engine blasted in his ears. With stars dancing in his vision, Chen Wang could not distinguish anything. His footsteps faltered for a second before a sudden grip tightened around his waist. The world spun as he lost his center of gravity.
“Hey, why are you snatching him again?”
“Damn it, who exactly is this kid?”
The debt collectors cursed and gave chase for a short distance, but their figures grew smaller and smaller. When Chen Wang finally came to his senses, he realized he was lying in Hua Yunlian’s lap in an ambiguous and awkward position, with his feet still dangling outside the open door of the convertible.
Wait a minute! Was this not the exact pose that scoundrel Alphas used when flirting with delicate little Omegas? As a dignified Beta, lying on someone like this was absolutely scandalous.
The faint scent of Damascus roses grew more intense as his face flushed red. Generally, Betas cannot smell pheromones unless the distance is too close or the other person releases an overwhelming amount.
“You, let go.”
Chen Wang felt completely numb and shifted uncomfortably. Hua Yunlian seemed immune to the cold, wearing only a slim, thin black overcoat. His scorching body heat seeped through the fabric into Chen Wang, making his body feel feverish.
Hua Yunlian’s voice was cold. Although he had saved him, he looked as if he did not care whether Chen Wang lived or died. “If you are not afraid of falling to your death, jump out yourself.”
Chen Wang pulled his feet back in. Forget falling to his death; even if he stayed perfectly still, he was terrified that a roadside obstacle might clip him. Chen Wang was an old-fashioned person who rejected all thrill-seeking activities. He had never even stepped foot in a bar. At this moment, he could only tilt his head slightly, trying to avoid the gaze of passersby. He had already lost enough face for one day.
Opening his eyes slightly, he saw Hua Yunlian’s face at close range. This man was no longer the child from his memory. His Slavic-mixed features were flawless. On his narrow face, his features and bone structure were sharply defined. His amber eyes were as clear as glass, currently narrowed under furrowed brows in a look of blatant impatience.
There was a large bruise on the left side of his mouth, which slightly marred his beauty. Chen Wang, by sheer coincidence, was his symmetrical opposite: he had a large bruise on his right cheek. Hua Yunlian was clearly retaliating against him.
The car reached another district. Chen Wang scrambled out somewhat disheveled and offered his thanks. Hua Yunlian gave a half-smile, his attitude freezing. “No need for thanks. If you die, who will handle my fiancée’s business?”
Chen Wang stood far away as if afraid Hua Yunlian would tie him to the back of the car and drag him through the streets. He wanted to ask if the man knew that the eldest Miss Qiao was looking for her sister. Before he could open his mouth, Hua Yunlian drove off without a backward glance.
Since his home was unsafe, Chen Wang needed to hide for a while. He found a random subway station and dozed off for a bit. He had paid his rent yesterday and was now essentially penniless. He barely had enough left for bus and subway fare, so he did not even consider the prospect of eating.
The hour of sleep he managed was not peaceful. He dreamed of the Hua and Qiao families marching into the slums. They burst into their dilapidated little courtyard and dragged his sister out. Amidst the piercing screams for mercy from his sister and mother, a blade fell. The flesh on the back of his sister’s neck, along with her gland, was gouged out and tossed onto the ground.
His sister’s eyes were wide with agony. A second before she stopped breathing, she looked at Chen Wang and said, “Ge, save me.”
Chen Wang woke up with a start, drenched in cold sweat. A subway train roared past, bringing a gust of freezing wind that made him shiver violently. He was worried and planned to have his sister take a leave of absence from school, even though she rarely attended classes anyway.
But Chen Yuxi’s phone would not go through. He dialed her classmate’s number instead. Her roommate told him she had not lived at the school lately and was nowhere to be found. He called her counselor, who knew even less. Chen Wang did not stop. He went to the bars and nightclubs his sister frequented. Since it was not yet business hours, everyone just shook their heads at him in confusion.
“I do not know. She has not been here.”
The horrific dream flooded back into his mind. Chen Wang’s hands began to shake. This would not do. He could not run away from this, nor could he avoid it. If this continued, a major disaster was inevitable.
Yunshan Private Club
A faint scent of agarwood drifted through the VIP room, yet even that could not mask the intense pheromones emitted by the Omega. Behind a black bamboo-patterned screen, the two parties sat on opposite sides. An Omega CEO, dressed in a sophisticated suit, smiled. “Is President Hua satisfied?”
He gestured with his hand. Behind him, two delicate, lavender-scented Omegas bowed in unison. “Not only are they twins, but they are also graduate students from A-University. Their personalities have been trained to be perfectly obedient. They can provide some entertainment for President Hua.”
Even heroes have a weakness for beauty. When it comes to business, it ultimately boils down to money, power, and sex. The young master of the Hua Group was in his early twenties, an age of peak vitality. Even the small amount of rose-scented pheromones he leaked was incredibly charming. One could only wonder how many Omegas he would ruin during his heat cycle.
The Omega CEO squinted and smiled. To his surprise, Hua Yunlian nonchalantly turned his teacup upside down, letting the unconsumed tea flow into the tray. He leaned back lazily, showing no mercy. “Unfortunate. I do not like the perfectly obedient type.”
The Omega CEO was somewhat taken aback. He waved his hand for the twins to leave. “President Hua certainly has high standards. In that case, I will offer another five percent discount. If the cooperation is successful.” He stopped mid-sentence and leaned down as if to pick something up.
The next second, a flawless white hand rested on Hua Yunlian’s sturdy thigh. He had somehow crawled between Hua Yunlian’s legs. The man who had been a serious CEO moments ago was now more seductive than the twins. He rubbed his cheek against Hua Yunlian’s leg, deeply inhaling the scent of Damascus roses. Faced with a rare and powerful Alpha, his legs naturally went weak. He said shyly, “I could also be yours.”
Hua Yunlian curled the corner of his mouth with interest. “Oh? You like me?” He grabbed the hand that was trying to unbuckle his belt. His flirtatious words came easily, carrying a hint of playing hard to get.
Seeing a glimmer of hope, the CEO’s face turned redder. “Of course. No Omega dislikes President Hua!”
“How much do you like me?” There was not a shred of lust in Hua Yunlian’s eyes. “Do you like me enough to die for me?”
The Omega froze, the blush still on his face. “What?”
The hand gripping him felt like cold machinery, tightening further. The Omega cried out in panic, feeling as though his hand was about to be crushed. Hua Yunlian continued to stare at him obsessively. “Would you still like me even if I were a monster?”
The Omega CEO left the room just as fully dressed as when he entered. He had lowered himself to offer his body, only to be rejected completely. He was both shocked and furious. Seeing the twins he brought with him snickering, he stepped forward and slapped one of them hard. “What are you laughing at? President Hua at least spoke a few more words to me. You two are worth even less!”
“It is not surprising at all.”
The shadows of bamboo on the screen danced across Hua Yunlian’s cold profile. He stared at his own hand, a long, beautiful, and bony hand. For a fleeting moment, he saw the sharp, terrifying claws of a monster that did not belong to this body at all. A cloud of smoke blurred his expression. “Everyone who says they like me or love me is a liar.”
There was a knock on the door. Assistant Lu and Mary walked in.
Assistant Lu said, “President Hua, Mr. Chen Wang somehow obtained Mary’s and my professional WeChat accounts. He noted that he sent you messages but received no reply. Should we accept his request?”
The hazy smoke cleared, and his beast-like, light-colored eyes seemed to brighten. Hua Yunlian took his time scrolling through the messages Chen Wang had sent, but he did not reply. The tip of his red-soled shoe began to tap the floor rhythmically. After looking through them for a while, he let out a cold snort. “Ignore him.”
Assistant Lu replied like a machine, “Yes, President.”
Chen Wang never drank alcohol; he preferred sweet drinks. But this time, he spent a few dollars on two bottles of beer and chugged one down in a single go. He had received messages from the hospital and the taxi company asking why he needed to take tomorrow off as well. Taking leave was difficult enough, let alone asking for a salary advance.
Chen Wang glanced at his phone. The message log was empty. Hua Yunlian was a CEO, after all; he must be very busy. So, he had gone through various channels to find the WeChat accounts of his two personal assistants, but still, no one had acknowledged him.
In a daze, his phone showed that Mary had accepted his friend request. She inadvertently revealed a piece of information: President Hua was currently discussing business at a certain club. After thanking her repeatedly, he sent another message. “Thank you. I will formally go to the office to find President Hua tonight.”
Knowing Hua Yunlian’s unpredictable temper, if he went to the club to find him, he might just walk right into trouble again. He looked down at his filthy, worn-out clothes and became thoughtful.
At six o’clock in the evening, Chen Wang was dressed in a sharp suit, his hair meticulously styled. Wearing gold-rimmed glasses, he looked every bit the serious elite. Carrying a folder, he arrived at the headquarters of the Hua Group. Assistant Lu was responsible for receiving him. He swiped the access card with the precision of a robot. “Mr. Chen, please follow me.”
The brightly lit corporate building left Chen Wang feeling intimidated. In a moment of distraction, a soft, fragrant figure bumped into him. It was a beautiful and cute Omega. “Oh, I am sorry!”
He appeared to be an influencer for the company, dressed quite differently from the office workers. Chen Wang was a Beta, and this kind of Omega was exactly his type. His face flushed slightly as he lowered his eyes. “It is okay. Be careful.”
“You are a Beta? Quite handsome. If you were an Alpha like President Hua, I would definitely date you!” The pretty Omega blew him a kiss and turned to leave.
Honest Chen Wang felt his heart flutter. He hurried into the elevator and asked curiously, “Is President Hua very popular?” An Alpha with such a terrible personality, anyone who dates him would surely suffer.
Assistant Lu, also a Beta, remained expressionless and adjusted his glasses. “President Hua has outstanding work abilities and flexible strategies. He is my idol.”
Chen Wang caught a glimpse of Assistant Lu’s profile and secretly suspected this person was a new AI robot developed by the Hua Group. The elevator reached the floor. As soon as the doors opened, he heard the sound of aggrieved, flirtatious sobbing.
“Why will President Hua not see me? President Hua even visited me on set recently. Why did he sponsor that person today? I am President Hua’s favorite Omega!”
As Chen Wang stepped out of the elevator, he saw a tearful and flamboyant minor celebrity being dragged away by two security guards. The elevator doors closed heartlessly, signaling his fall from grace. Chen Wang was startled; he had seen this celebrity in advertisements.
From the ground floor to the top, everyone seemed to be an admirer of Hua Yunlian. He felt a chill in his heart and an inexplicable sense of jealousy. What was there to like about such a self-centered and arrogant guy? His private life must be a mess.
Walking to the door of the CEO’s office, he saw a sign that read, “Hua Jingchen and dogs are forbidden.” Chen Wang let out another cold laugh internally. But as soon as he entered, he quickly adjusted his state of mind. He bowed and spoke in a much more respectful tone. “Good evening, President Hua.”
Hua Yunlian looked up. Seeing Chen Wang’s serious and formal attire, appearing like a fully armed job applicant, he raised an eyebrow suspiciously. “What are you doing here?”
Chen Wang said, “I have read your contract repeatedly. The terms are reasonable and beneficial to both parties. Furthermore, you promised to grant me my freedom after I have paid off the debt. Therefore,” he presented a contract that had been taped together like a puzzle, “I want to sign.”
Hua Yunlian was somewhat surprised and fell silent for a moment. He rested his chin on one hand. Even though he was looking up at the person standing before him, it felt as though he was judging him from a position of absolute power. He sneered. “You tore the contract into this state. How did you find it?”
Chen Wang answered truthfully in a flat tone, “I went to the hospital trash can, dug it out, pieced it back together, and taped it.” He made it sound easy, but in reality, he had no idea how much trash the hospital processed in a day. To be able to piece it back together had truly taken a great deal of effort.
As if he found it dirty, Hua Yunlian did not take the contract. He leaned back naturally into his leather chair. His long legs opened lazily. A slight smile played on his lips, full of suggestion. “Let me see your sincerity.”
Chen Wang froze. Hua Yunlian lowered his voice. “Do you not understand?”
Chen Wang had drunk a bit of alcohol before coming to give himself courage. He frowned stubbornly. “Fine! This,” his face gradually turned red, his fair skin showing a deep flush as he said stiffly, “is no big deal!”
Hua Yunlian found it amusing to see him acting tough. Chen Wang charged toward him behind the large desk with an aggressive air, looking as though he were ready to go all out. In response, Hua Yunlian opened his legs a bit further in expectation, his pheromones fluctuating intensely.
A pair of cold, trembling hands suddenly cupped Hua Yunlian’s handsome face. Chen Wang leaned down and pouted his lips slightly, planting a soft, silent kiss on his cheek, like the tickle of a kitten.
Hua Yunlian was stunned. He could feel that Chen Wang’s lips were trembling violently.
