The Heroines I’ve Flirted With Are Bound to Go OOC - Chapter 6
The girl, barely half a person’s height, spoke in a breezy tone, as if the entire world held no weight in her eyes. The temperature plummeted to freezing point; the atmosphere was thick with awkwardness.
“I’m sorry… Naitang, it’s just very important to me…”
Hu Qi’s voice carried a hint of a spoiled pout. Realizing her previous words had been a bit out of line and sensing a rift forming between them, she quickly adopted a wronged expression. She looked up at her cautiously, trying to regain her favor.
Being gazed upon by such a cute creature, in a state that looked ready to burst into tears, would naturally inspire pity in anyone. With her flushed cheeks and misty, fawn-like eyes, causing such a beautiful being sorrow felt like a cardinal sin.
But Ye Naitang felt an inexplicable surge of irritation. An anonymous fire burned in the depths of her heart.
“It’s fine. Go take it; I won’t fight you for it,” Ye Naitang said, turning her head away. In truth, treasures were things one couldn’t bring into life or take into death, so there was no harm in giving it to her. It was simply the other girl’s tone that chilled her heart.
The moment interests were involved, she had struck a posture of drawn swords and bent bows. If I had insisted on taking it, would she have just killed me? Naitang wondered.
Hearing this, Hu Qi assumed her show of weakness had worked and that Naitang was no longer angry. She stood up eased, treading upon the quartz and climbing the rugged cave walls toward the ceiling to retrieve the spiritual treasure.
The black, circular stone looked ordinary. No one would imagine that such a plain-looking rock was a coveted treasure of the outside world. Nor could one imagine that a prize their ancestors had spent lifetimes failing to obtain was now held easily in the palm of her hand. It gave her a dreamlike sense of unreality.
It was warm to the touch and smooth on the surface. From within, a rhythmic pulsing could be felt.
Thump. Thump… thump…
What is this? Hu Qi’s expression froze. She scrambled back down to the ground to examine the treasure more closely. It felt toasty, and when shaken, the faint sound of sloshing liquid echoed from within.
Clearly, this was not a stone, but a round egg.
Did I find the wrong thing? Hu Qi was stunned, her small face a mask of confusion. Her first instinct was that this wasn’t the treasure she sought. It was true that primordial treasures came in many forms, but she had never heard of one being an egg. Yet, a familiar, fated connection told her there was no mistake; this was the supreme treasure that had drawn countless spirit beasts here for generations.
Boom—!
Upon the removal of the treasure, the entire cavern shook violently and began to collapse. A powerful tremor surged through them, causing both girls to stumble. Stalactites clinging to the ceiling broke away, smashing into pieces upon the floor.
Having basked in the presence of the black egg for so long, these stones had absorbed a great deal of spiritual energy. They were crystal clear, and as they shattered, the concentrated energy saturated the air. The aura was so thick that simply being immersed in it felt heavenly, as if they were in a literal paradise.
“We have to go!”
This was no place to linger. Acting on instinct, Hu Qi quickly stowed the black egg and grabbed the hand of the silver-haired girl, who sat on the ground like a wooden doll, seemingly dazed by the shock.
Drawing on the agility of the Fox Tribe and her own innate talent, Hu Qi easily dodged the falling rocks, sprinting toward a winding path on the left. Behind them, falling debris blocked their retreat.
There was no turning back. They had to move forward.
Ye Naitang allowed herself to be pulled along. Watching the delicate gold flower pendant dancing in the little girl’s hair, her thoughts wavered much like the ornament. Though her favor for Hu Qi had been completely exhausted, there was no need to cause an open confrontation yet.
After traveling several dozen kilometers, the tunnel stopped collapsing. A fork appeared in the road before them. Two paths stood side by side, roughly two meters high, their walls lined with glowing plants that illuminated the interior.
“Alright, let’s go our separate ways now.”
Hu Qi stopped in her tracks, the cold voice echoing in her ears. Instead of letting go, she gripped Naitang’s hand even tighter. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a drum. Her nose felt itchy and her eyes welled up. She turned back with a look of pure grievance.
“Are you serious? You want to separate from me? Why? We are clearly going the same way…”
This time, the grievance was real. Her thin brows furrowed as her watery eyes stared at the girl, silently accusing her of heartlessness.
With her hand held in a tight grip, Ye Naitang couldn’t pull away. She looked into Hu Qi’s eyes and said coldly: “Under normal circumstances, the appearance of a supreme treasure is accompanied by omens. The commotion here was massive. According to you, the spirit beasts gathered here are terrifyingly powerful. They have undoubtedly noticed the movement underground.”
“An ordinary man is guiltless, but treasures make him a target,” Naitang countered. Her tone was harsh, and she watched with satisfaction as the pretty face before her turned from tearful to shocked.
Evil words hurt like the winter frost. Having dealt with negative reviews for years, Ye Naitang understood the power of language better than anyone. She was sharp and unkind, but that was her nature. If someone made her uncomfortable, she would make them suffer in return.
“I understand.” Suddenly, Hu Qi’s thoughts raced. Her first instinct was to argue—Can I not protect you?—but then she realized the “old monsters” outside were truly dangerous. She lacked total confidence in escaping safely with another person. What if an accident happened and Naitang died because of her?
Ultimately, these worries stemmed from her being too weak.
Hu Qi’s mind flashed back to the previous night, when the “Black Girl” had come to feed her. The girl had been muttering to herself with a silly grin, saying her father had rescued a heavily injured young girl that morning—someone who had lost much blood and had shallow breath. Even though it pained them to use their medicine, the girl was simply too beautiful. So beautiful that in her presence, all precious objects seemed like fleeting clouds, utterly insignificant.
If Naitang hadn’t been found… if she had been buried in the sand to rot into white bones…
The mere thought of her becoming a cold corpse made Hu Qi’s heart ache.
“Naitang, I will lead them away. I’ll see you in the Eastern Territory.” “Take care.”
With those words, the black fox turned and ran. As she ducked into the left tunnel, she pressed her hand against the treasure in her robe. Her chest felt scorching hot. She made a silent resolution, finally understanding her own heart.
The object of her obsession became clearer than ever.
—When I reach the pinnacle of cultivation… then, I will make you my plaything.
Ye Naitang didn’t respond. She gave a cold glance at the retreating back, rubbed her wrist, and walked toward the right-hand tunnel. She had no idea that the original plot had already undergone a subtle shift.
Having tasted the bitterness of weakness and the frustration of powerlessness for the first time, Hu Qi was consumed by a dark melancholy. Thus, to possess what she loved and to eliminate the “pests” in her way, a journey fueled by her very future began. The process was the same as always…
She would not stop until her goal was reached, pushing herself upward with endless desire as her engine.
From that moment on, the fox who used to constantly act “cute” and “soft” resolved to change. Her destiny shifted from “clinging to the male lead” to “carving out her own world.” Her temperament became erratic and arrogant, completely discarding her useless indecisiveness.
The trigger for this collapse was Ye Naitang’s indifferent contempt. It altered the character’s growth in an unpredictable direction, unintentionally creating a monomaniac.
Beside her, the glowing green vegetation cast a white light on the silver-haired girl. Rather than making her look soft, it gave her a hazy, detached aura.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted on the surface.
A blood moon hung in the sky, and the cold wind cut like a blade. The beasts that had been lurking in the shadows emerged all at once—a spectacular, dark mass. There were long-haired boars, flying fish, green-eyed black wolves, and pure white foxes. They all moved toward the center, glaring at one another with equal ferocity.
Now, even those of the same tribe fought to the death. They had waited ten thousand years for this; success or failure rested on this single moment.
The vivid moonlight poured down like water, and a deep, black-red mist rose from the ground. At a glance, it looked as if a giant beast had swallowed the Eastern Territory whole. The desert was shrouded in an ominous aura as the spirit beasts waited in the fog for their chance.
Suddenly, a black figure streaked across the sky. It was incredibly fast and eye-catching.
“Heh heh…”
In the deathly silent air, the crisp, tender voice of a young girl rang out. It was as pleasant as a bell, yet it pierced the silence, adding a ghostly layer to the atmosphere.
“The treasure is in my hands! Don’t just stand there—hurry up and kowtow to your future boss!”
The statement shocked everyone present. In an instant, the attention of every creature shifted to that small shadow.
“Hu Qi, it’s you! You ungrateful white-eyed wolf!”
Hearing the familiar voice, the leader of the Black Wolves, Xiao Liang, shifted from surprise to fury. He bared his teeth toward the void, revealing bone-white fangs that glinted coldly.
When enemies meet, their eyes burn with hatred. If not for the presence of so many other formidable beasts, Xiao Liang would have pounced immediately to strip her skin and eat her flesh—repaying her for what she had done to his second brother. But the time wasn’t right, so he could only glare.
He was inwardly wary, unsure of what Hu Qi’s goal was or if the treasure was actually on her. After all, she was notoriously cunning and full of lies.
“Only a fool would believe you.”
Xiao Liang decided to settle the score later, prioritizing the bigger picture, but he couldn’t resist a few insults.
He mocked her snidely: “Kowtow? Hahaha! Did I hear that right? You—a freak expelled by the White Fox Tribe, a piece of trash who survived on our scraps, and who recently ran off to join the humans?”
“It’s a miracle you’re still alive with such a thick skin.”
“You’re like a rat scurrying everywhere. To think you carry the White Fox bloodline… if those arrogant old fogies knew, they’d be fuming. They should have strangled you at birth.
Old secrets were peeled away one by one. The beasts watching the drama thought: There’s such a story?!
Amidst their shock, they took mental notes, eager to mock the White Fox Tribe when they saw them next. Those foxes were high-and-mighty and prioritized their “face” above all else; knowing their shameful family business had gone public would surely mortify them. The thought of that scene made the other beasts itch with excitement.
“My life is none of your concern,” Hu Qi replied, her smile never fading.
Being exposed in public would usually be humiliating, but things were different now. Absolute strength fears no scandal. Her family would eventually view her as their glory, and others would speak of her with awe. This was all thanks to the heavens’ mercy in granting her the chip to change her fate.
Suddenly, the egg inside her robe trembled. As if responding to her thoughts, the black shell emitted a red glow—a red so deep it bordered on black, matching the crimson mist in the sky.
The moon was like blood, and the fog grew more vivid. The entire world looked as if it had been painted in gore. A star of chaos was rising—an ill omen signaling that disaster was destined to fall, leading to widespread suffering.
A new King was born.
