The White Moonlight of the All-Enchanting Protagonist Shizun is Alive Again…
By: Chun Ri Rong Rong (Spring Sun Mildness)
Prologue
On the day Jiang Xuning died, the entire city of Yuecheng was hung with red silks.
Since the beginning of heaven and earth, humans, demons, and monsters had divided the three realms, living in mutual peace for tens of thousands of years. It was not until the appearance of a prophecy a hundred years ago that this superficial tranquility was completely shattered.
“The Heavenly Demon arrives; eternal night descends.”
During a sacrificial rite, the oldest prophet of the Demon Race was inspired by the ancestors: within a hundred years, a Heavenly Demon would be born. He would possess profound cultivation and boundless magic, matchless in power. He would lead the entire Demon Race and even unify the three realms; at that time, darkness would shroud everything, and the sun would never be seen again.
As soon as this news broke, it caused waves throughout the Demon Race. One must know that tens of thousands of years ago, the human world was divided into three places: Changmeng (Long Dream), Wuze (Mist Marsh), and Huangya (Desolate Cliff). Among them, Changmeng, with its beautiful mountains, rivers, and abundant spiritual energy, was the best, while Huangya was filled with broken stones, withered trees, and dense miasma, shrouded in gloom year-round. Back then, because they missed the opportunity, the Demon Race was forced to reside in that corner.
They had long been dissatisfied, and as more and more resentment gathered, the miasma in Huangya grew more severe. Unknowingly, thoughts of rebellion had sprouted. With the release of this prophecy, they became even more restless, provoking the borders several times, making life miserable for the people of the border cities.
This calamity lasted for several months. Fortunately, Immortal Venerable Zhongyi of the Tianyan Sect took action in time, saving the people of the border cities from their suffering. After the Demon Race was suppressed, they had no choice but to become peaceful again.
The three realms regained their former tranquility, and everyone thought the matter had ended there. Little did they know that twenty-odd years ago, the Demon Race would make a comeback.
The prophet, who had been in seclusion for a long time, reappeared, bringing the latest demonic decree: the Heavenly Demon from the prophecy had already appeared, and the place of birth was right there in Changmeng!
This news once again caused waves in Huangya, even more intense than a hundred years ago it could almost be described as madness. In recent decades, the Demon Race had been suppressed by the Tianyan Sect, and resentment had grown. Now, knowing the Heavenly Demon had been born, they cast aside all scruples. Even the barrier previously set at the intersection of the two lands by Immortal Venerable Zhongyi was ignored; taking advantage of his weakness, they swarmed toward the human realm.
Changmeng fell into chaos once again. To find the Heavenly Demon mentioned in the decree, the Demon Race searched everywhere for newborn infants. Any resistance resulted in the slaughter of the entire household.
Screams, blood, corpses it was like a purgatory on earth.
Even though the various sects later sent disciples to suppress them, it was a mere drop in the bucket against the Demon Race’s “broken ship” momentum (desperation). Furthermore, Immortal Venerable Zhongyi suffered a backlash due to the shattering of the barrier, making the demons even more arrogant.
This conflict between the two races continued for over a decade, until the appearance of two people three years ago changed the turning point.
The Year 369 of Changgeng
Huo Ling and Yu Heng, disciples under Immortal Venerable Zhongyi, made their first appearance at the immortal gate’s triennial sword-testing assembly. Their appearance immediately caused a sensation.
It was for no other reason than their talent, which was rare in the world, and their speed of cultivation, which was unseen in a lifetime.
Though they had not yet reached the age of majority (twenty), they had already formed Golden Cores and even showed signs of breaking through to the Nascent Soul stage. In a total of thirty-six matches, they remained undefeated, eventually taking the top spots and shining brightly, securing a place in the current immortal gate.
People remarked that the two possessed the demeanor of Immortal Venerable Zhongyi in his youth and placed high hopes on them. They did not disappoint; leading the disciples of the Tianyan Sect to drive out the Demon Race, they finally achieved complete suppression three years later.
Changmeng regained its former peace, and the people began to speak of “True Lord Huo” and “True Lord Yu.” Their reputation was equal to, if not greater than, that of Immortal Venerable Zhongyi back then.
Everyone was immersed in joy not only because of the hard-won peaceful days but also because of the upcoming grand wedding of True Lord Huo and True Lord Yu.
Just a few days ago, the Tianyan Sect had announced to the world that the two would become Dao companions, and a grand ceremony would be held shortly.
As far as they knew, True Lord Huo and True Lord Yu both belonged to the sect of Immortal Venerable Zhongyi and had grown up practicing together since childhood. They could be considered “childhood sweethearts” (green plums and bamboo horses). This union was seen as a double blessing.
The people of Changmeng, grateful for their kindness, offered sincere blessings. To express their congratulations, every city specifically hung red silks, which had not been taken down for three full days.
On the streets, sounds of congratulations rose one after another. Everyone’s face was filled with joy, and the brilliant red silks “lit up” the entire city, a scene of extraordinary bustle.
Except for one place.
Occasional gusts of wind caused a few withered bamboos to rustle. Inside a remote courtyard, it was quiet to a terrifying degree, as if isolated from the world, completely out of step with the excitement outside.
It wasn’t until a muffled whimper broke the silence.
Inside the dim room, the candlelight flickered slightly. Behind layers of beaded gauze, there was a lingering scent of decay.
The young man on the bed was incredibly pale. Even so, one could still vaguely discern his former grace from his clear, elegant, and unforgettable.
But now, he had long been tortured by illness, wasted away until only a skeleton remained, a shocking sight.
“Young Master, please hold on a little longer, just a little longer. Master Yu is about to return!”
By the bedside, a loyal servant stood watch, looking at the person on the bed with eyes full of sorrow.
He pleaded repeatedly, but he still couldn’t stop the decay of life. At this moment, the young man was like an oil lamp running dry; the spark in his eyes gradually faded, and even his breathing became light and imperceptible.
“You haven’t seen him yet…”
A-Liang, witnessing this scene, couldn’t help but panic. He instinctively reached out, trying to stop something, but it was already too late.
Along with the sound of a sob, the young man on the bed completely drew his last breath. At the same moment, the sound of a bell rang out, echoing through all of Changmeng for a long time.
