Jun Lianyi stayed up all night reading a “sweet and doting” Master-Disciple web novel, only to realize the summary was a complete scam. Despite the bait-and-switch, he fell deeply in love with the tragic protagonist, the Shizun-shou, Yue Wuji.
Watching his beloved Shizun get betrayed during their soul-binding ceremony—his dragon core gouged out, his reverse scales ripped away, and finally pierced through the heart by the “scum gong”—Jun Lianyi’s heart shattered into a million pieces. He cried himself to sleep clutching the book, only to wake up and realize he had transmigrated into the story as that very same scum gong.
Standing right before him was the ethereal, immortal-like man he had pined for: his Shizun.
Jun Lianyi vowed right then: “I will be the most devoted lover this world has ever seen!”
From that moment on, he was the one who tucked Shizun in, the one who cooked his favorite meals, and the one who soothed his nightmares. As for the “White Moonlight” love interest from the original plot? He could go stay wherever the weather was coldest.
Their journey was filled with affection, leading finally to the long-awaited soul-binding ceremony. Nervous and excited, Jun Lianyi offered a fertility pill to his Master, whispering, “Shizun, from this day forward, it is just the two of us, for the rest of our lives.”
To his shock, the usually cold and aloof Yue Wuji suddenly pinned him down. With bloodshot eyes and a gaze filled with fractured rage, Yue Wuji hissed, “Do you intend to destroy me all over again? I won’t give you another chance.”
Before Jun Lianyi could react, Yue Wuji pressed his lips against his, forcing the pill into Jun Lianyi’s mouth and making him swallow it.
Leaning down, Yue Wuji kissed his ear and whispered in a low, husky voice, “Every bit of suffering I endured in my past life… in this one, I will make sure you pay it all back.”
It was only in that terrifying moment that Jun Lianyi realized Yue Wuji had been reborn.
The Twist:
Yue Wuji had returned to a time before he ever fell for Jun Lianyi. He swore that everything he suffered in his previous life would be repaid in full.
Throughout this new life, he maintained the facade of a benevolent master, accepting Jun Lianyi’s every kindness while secretly plotting. On the night of their ceremony, he struck first, forcing the fertility pill upon Jun Lianyi and playing with him like a puppet. He intended to inflict every humiliation he once felt onto his disciple, eventually driving him to the point of demonic transformation.
Only then did Yue Wuji discover the truth: the soul inside that body had changed long ago.
Locked away in a dark, sunless prison by the man he broke, Yue Wuji looked at his former disciple. The eyes that once held soft, innocent love like a startled deer were now cold as ice and filled with nothing but disdain.
Yue Wuji’s heart twisted with agonizing pain, his voice trembling as he choked out, “I’m sorry…”
“Sorry?”
Jun Lianyi let out a cold, mocking laugh. He stepped forward, gripping Yue Wuji’s chin to force him to meet his eyes. “It’s too late for that, Yue Wuji. Every ounce of pain I’ve felt in this life… I’m going to return it to you, twofold.”
