The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 2
The mechanical electronic voice rang in her ear, sounding somewhat fawning: “Host, these points have already been doubled. I can’t give you any more.”
Yan Xia narrowed her eyes. Recalling yesterday’s events, her expression contorted slightly.
Just yesterday morning, she had gone to the library to borrow postgraduate entrance exam materials. Upon returning to her dorm, she discovered that, at some unknown point, a novel had been tucked inside her reference books.
Feeling a bit exhausted from studying, Yan Xia casually flipped the book open.
She never expected that this single opening would lead to a final farewell.
At first glance, she noticed the protagonist had the exact same name as her.
That’s right, according to one of the “Ten Laws of the Green Hook” (Jinjiang Literature City) “If you share a name with the protagonist, you will transmigrate into the book” she had failed to escape the calamity.
She had been careless; she didn’t dodge!
This was a melodramatic Yuri ABO novel. The life experience of the female lead in the book could be described as frustrated to the extreme.
The female lead was a physically weak and sickly Omega. As the middle child of the family, her personality was neither as steady and shrewd as the eldest, nor as well behaved and sweet talking as the youngest. Sandwiched between her excellent sisters, she was truly a child unloved by her father and ignored by her mother, suffering nothing but cold neglect.
Despite being born into a wealthy family, her personality was incredibly self-deprecating and cowardly. Her academic performance was poor; she was essentially disliked by everyone.
Consequently, the female lead endured long-term bullying and neglect from teachers and classmates alike. Various cannon fodder villains treated her as a punching bag at will. Reading it made Yan Xia’s fists clench so hard they turned numb; it almost cured her low blood pressure through sheer rage.
It’s worth noting that Yan Xia had a personality diametrically opposed to the female lead. Combined with the shared name, she felt a sense of immersion others didn’t have. She simply could not accept this plot development.
Yan Xia endured it and persuaded herself to keep reading. After all, logically, if a “punching bag” protagonist started so miserably, they would surely transform into a “cool-headed female lead” later on, opening a “gold finger” (cheat power) and returning to slap everyone’s faces, right?
But! There was none of that!
Yan Xia would never forget that deceptive ending: The female lead went through myriad hardships and finally got together with her beloved Alpha. On the night before they were to step into the marriage hall together, the female lead suddenly suffered a fatal illness and passed away.
Seeing this, Yan Xia thought the female lead was finally going to start a “rebirth and counterattack” script.
However, the page number in the bottom right corner and the thinning pages at the back reminded her there were no tropes like opening a “gold finger,” or returning to slap faces after a “three-year period”.
The female lead just died!
She died pointlessly, under extremely fishy circumstances.
From beginning to end, she never received acknowledgment or respect from her family, nor did she have friends worth confiding in or trusting. She descended into the world like a ghost, suffered cold stares and isolation, and then suddenly vanished one day.
No one cared when her funeral began.
Before her death, aside from her lover, she had nothing.
The story came to an abrupt halt. Yan Xia stayed up all night finishing this ending. Staring with panda eyes from lack of sleep, she fell into deep thought.
Finally, she reached a conclusion this was absolutely just the author being unable to continue the story and forcing a “Bad Ending” (BE) onto a botched finale!
This was even more ridiculous than the stuff written by her roommate, who loved writing old-fashioned melodramatic “abused body and heart” female lead novels!
Accompanied by the rising sun in the east, and harboring the desire to tear the author into eight pieces, Yan Xia entered her dreams full of resentment.
When she woke up, she found herself transmigrated into the book, becoming that same named “punching bag” female lead.
And she wasn’t even an Omega, but had differentiated into an Alpha!?
The system called it: “This is a Newcomer Welfare package we gave the Host! The original body was weak and sickly, making it unsuitable to carry out various tasks. So, we helped you adjust the physical stats just a little bit!”
Yan Xia: Are you sure you didn’t just forcefully increase the game difficulty for me? Is this “a little bit”? This is clearly “a billion bits,” right?!
If one were to ask Yan Xia how she felt right now regret, she felt extreme regret.
Had she known earlier, she would have read the text back to front and memorized it.
Yan Xia snapped back to reality and rubbed her temples. “System, I remember you saying that ‘Positive Points’ come from reader feedback?”
“Correct,” the system answered honestly. “As long as you gain the readers’ approval, you will obtain Positive Points.”
To reverse the botched ending and shape a “tall, bright, and upright” female lead: that was her system mission after transmigrating. Every time Positive Points increased, it represented the readers’ approval of the plot rising accordingly.
“Fine. Then how many points have I accumulated now?”
System: “Currently, you have 100 Positive Points. But combined with the Newcomer Welfare Bundle issued yesterday, you have saved up 1,600 points, which is enough for one round of card drawing.”
Yan Xia thought for a moment: “Don’t draw yet. Wait a bit.”
The system was very obedient: “Okay, Host can call me anytime if you have questions!”
Yan Xia sighed inwardly and shifted her attention back to the classroom, continuing to listen to the lecture.
After the farce, Yan Xia’s matter didn’t arouse much suspicion. Most people assumed she just happened to know how to do the problem and stopped paying attention.
The classroom returned to its lifeless state. Zhang Ying, perhaps feeling awkward, didn’t call anyone else up to answer questions.
Math class was the last period of the morning. As the bell rang, Zhang Ying packed her teaching materials and walked out of the classroom on time. The students, who had been drowsy moments ago, suddenly leaped from their seats, rushing toward the cafeteria like a whirlwind.
“Damn, I’m starving. Zhang Ying is so freaking wordy.”
“Giao! It’s time to eat! Let’s go, brothers!”
“Run faster, man! If we’re late, there’ll be nothing left!”
Whoosh—high schoolers were full of energy, and everyone disappeared in a flash.
The entire classroom quickly emptied. Yan Xia sat in her seat, slowly packing her pencil case.
Jiang He sat beside her and hadn’t left. Her expression was so gloomy it looked like it could drip water.
Yan Xia packed her bag and stood up. She glanced at her desk-mate and asked softly, “Jiang He, aren’t you going home?”
Jiang He stared intently at her: “Did you deliberately make me look like a fool today?”
Yan Xia rolled her eyes: You were the one who shifted the blame to me first. Don’t you have any self-awareness?
The rule given by the system was that the “Character Collapse Value” could not accumulate too high, otherwise, it would cause suspicion from those around her. Her previous behavior fit the character, and currently, the collapse value remained at 0.
If the collapse value got too high… not only would Yan Xia herself be punished, but it might even trigger the collapse of the book world.
To fit the setting, she could only suppress her urge to throw a heavy punch and intentionally put on a cowardly expression. She widened her eyes as if frightened: “I… I didn’t. I was just scared by you..”
Jiang He’s face was grim, her tone cold like a maggot on a bone: “Yan Xia, don’t forget who it was that saved you back then.”
Yan Xia went quiet for a moment. She pulled out the scratch paper from her notebook and showed it to the other girl.
The scratch paper was covered in messy strings of numbers and calculation formulas.
“I really was just doing the math problems earlier. I didn’t expect you to lean over suddenly.”
Jiang He stared at it for a few moments, unable to detect anything amiss.
“Really?”
Yan Xia nodded, her expression flawless: “Mhm.”
Jiang He’s tone softened slightly: “Then you could have told me earlier. You shouldn’t have kept it from me.”
Okay.”
Jiang He suppressed her emotions, a smile hanging on her face again. Her voice became gentle and sweet: “We are good friends, right?”
“Look at you, being so eccentric… I’m the only one willing to be your desk-mate.”
Without waiting for Yan Xia to reply, she slung her backpack on and intimately hooked her arm through Yan Xia’s as they walked out.
“Let’s go, let’s go home together.”
Yan Xia was dragged out the door by her. The posture was uncomfortable. She frowned impatiently and was about to shake the other girl off when she saw a familiar female classmate walking toward them.
Jiang He suddenly and swiftly threw off Yan Xia’s hand, quickly pulling away as if they were strangers.
She warmly greeted that female student.
The two of them stood together, quickly chatting and laughing. As they walked away, Jiang He didn’t give Yan Xia another look.
That girl glanced at Yan Xia, her voice filled with disdain: “Why were you walking with Yan Xia…”
Jiang He: “Oh, I just saw her going home all alone and lonely.”
“Is that so? You really are a considerate desk-mate.”
Yan Xia stood in place for a moment, sneering in her heart. she brushed past the two of them and walked downstairs.
She remembered that Jiang He was a supporting character with quite a lot of screen time in the book. She always liked to take advantage of the female lead under the guise of being a “friend,” while secretly despising her.
Sure enough, as soon as she opened her mouth, she proved to be a master of PUA (Pick-Up Artist/Manipulation).
Walking out of the teaching building, her phone notification rang. She took it out to check; it was from Yan Xia’s “cheap” younger sister.
Yan Siqiu: “Are you there yet?”
She tapped her finger to reply, but another message jumped out.
Yan Siqiu: “Are your legs broken or something? Can you walk faster?”
School had only been out for less than ten minutes. This sister was acting like a debt collector!
Yan Xia quickened her pace and arrived at the school gate. A silver-grey Maserati was parked in a quiet corner.
She pulled open the back door and sat inside.
The driver greeted her politely: “Second Miss.”
Yan Siqiu was sitting in the back seat with her arms crossed. She looked up impatiently and gave her a sarcastic look: “So slow every time. Next time, let’s just not wait for you.”
Yan Xia didn’t say a word and slammed the car door shut with a loud Bang.
The loud noise exploded by her ear. The movement was so significant that Yan Siqiu flinched involuntarily.
She was a fair-skinned, beautiful Omega. She knew how to dress herself better than the original female lead, vividly displaying the beauty inherited from the Yan family. Her privileged posture showed she had been raised in luxury since childhood.
Omegas had little courage. Yan Siqiu was startled by the loud noise, her eyes widening, looking somewhat pitiful.
“Are you throwing a tantrum at me?!” Yan Siqiu unconsciously raised her voice.
This loser actually dares to give me an attitude?!
“No.” Yan Xia obediently placed her hands on her knees, looking innocent. She said earnestly, “I just accidentally used too much force. Uncle Li, is the car door okay?”
The driver, Master Li, hurriedly said, “It’s fine, it’s fine. Second Miss, just be careful next time.”
“You!”
Yan Siqiu clutched her heart, which was thumping from the scare: The car door is fine, but I’m not?!
She glared at Yan Xia angrily, but finding no other flaws, she could only turn her head away in a huff.
Yan Xia’s spite was vented; she felt satisfied.
She hadn’t been entirely lying just now. An Alpha’s strength was much greater than that of an ordinary person in the real world, and she hadn’t quite mastered the intensity yet. Plus, since she was feeling very annoyed, her hand just “slipped” a little.
The system floated out and whispered: “Host, is it okay to retaliate against her like this?”
Yan Xia: “Did the collapse value rise just now?”
“Well, no.”
Yan Xia felt perfectly justified: “What are you talking about? How was I intentionally retaliating? I call this ‘reasonable bug exploitation.’ You don’t understand.”
System: …Fine, as long as you’re happy.
Yan Xia turned to look out the window. The car started slowly, and the scenery and pedestrians passed by like flowing water.
Silence all the way.
From the reflection on the car window, Yan Xia saw Yan Siqiu leaning against the door side, looking down at her phone.
The distance between the two sisters was wide enough for two people to sit in between. The other girl kept a cold face throughout, not having a single word to say. She seemed to wish she could sit even further away from Yan Xia. Even the driver seemed accustomed to this, driving the car calmly.
Yan Xia thought: This female lead really is miserable. Even her biological sister doesn’t like her.
She didn’t bother trying to suck up to her either. Happy to have some peace, she pulled the scratch paper from her pocket. Flipping it over, it was covered in a dense block of text.
Looking closely, one could see the text was the plot development of this novel.
During math class, she hadn’t really been doing problems. She had been working hard to recall the direction of this novel, writing an outline to organize the plot.
Unfortunately, Yan Xia had read the novel overnight, and her memory was limited. She couldn’t remember many details. To prevent forgetting, she had to write down the parts she remembered first.
So, of course, this paper couldn’t be seen by Jiang He.
Yan Xia silently recalled the plot in her mind. A few minutes later, the Maserati slowly drove into a white European-style villa garden.
The car came to a stop. Yan Siqiu seemed to have long been tired of being with Yan Xia. She pulled the door open and ran toward the main entrance without looking back.
As soon as she entered the door, she changed her expression, throwing herself forward like a swallow returning to its nest, calling out with a beaming smile: “Mom!”
Yan Xia followed behind, getting a layer of goosebumps. This voice was so sweet it could practically drip honey a completely different person from a moment ago.
The dining table was already set with a sumptuous spread of dishes, a magnificent sight.
Zhao Daimann was sitting at the table. Seeing Yan Siqiu return, her well-maintained face lit up with a smile: “Qiuqiu is back?” Seeing Yan Xia behind her, the smile faded, and she said calmly, “You must be hungry. Sit down and eat.”
“Coming right now!” Yan Siqiu put down her backpack. Seeing several empty seats at the table, she intentionally asked, “Mom, isn’t Sister Wandong coming down for lunch?”
“Wandong wasn’t feeling well this morning and didn’t go to school. She’s probably still sleeping now.” After Zhao Daimann finished speaking, she nudged Shang Zhengling beside her. “Xiaoyu, go call your sister downstairs for lunch.”
The six-year-old Shang Zhengling had a drumstick in each hand, eating happily. He pouted: “I’m not going!”
Zhao Daimann shook her head and scolded affectionately: “You, eat slower! You’re turning into a little piglet!”
Yan Xia and Yan Siqiu had just returned from washing their hands in the kitchen when they heard the two talking.
Seeing this, Yan Siqiu quickened her pace and pushed Yan Xia aside, sitting in the middle seat.
Yan Xia didn’t care. She sat directly at the corner of the table and picked up her chopsticks, eager to start.
Look at these golden honey-glazed chicken wings, that oily roasted squab, that pot of milky-white fragrant crucian carp soup… being born into a big family has this one advantage: the food is good and plentiful.
Zhao Daimann didn’t force Shang Zhengling further. she called over the servant beside her: “A-Mei, go call Wandong down for lunch.”
Mother Mei respectfully complied and hurried upstairs.
Zhao Daimann specifically picked up a piece of braised pork for Yan Siqiu and asked diligently: “Qiuqiu, how is school lately? Any problems with your studies? Do you need a tutor?”
Yan Siqiu sat properly. Seeing that Yan Xia was already greedily starting to eat without manners, she smiled inwardly. She answered calmly, “Mom, don’t worry. Everything is fine.”
Zhao Daimann nodded with satisfaction: “The school monthly exams are coming up soon, right? But our Qiuqiu is always at the top of the class, so there’s no need to worry.”
“I’m fine.” Yan Siqiu smiled, then changed the subject. “Sister might need more help…”
Mother and daughter chatted happily, treating Yan Xia like air the entire time.
She lowered her head and silently gnawed on a chicken wing. She hadn’t expected the topic to suddenly turn to her. Her hand holding the wing trembled slightly.
Zhao Daimann’s smile cooled. She looked at Yan Xia. Seeing the other party feasting, her heart felt even more like “iron not turning into steel.” Her tone turned three degrees colder.
“You should learn from your sister. Put more heart into your studies so you don’t embarrass the family every time you take an exam.”
Yan Siqiu, remembering being scared by the car door earlier, felt she had gotten her revenge and gave her a soft “Hmph.”
Yan Xia: …How childish can you get? Can you let me finish a meal in peace first?
Just as she was preparing to lower her head and accept the lecture, she heard footsteps from the stairs.
Yan Siqiu’s eyes lit up, and she called out affectionately: “Sister Wandong!”
Yan Xia paused.
Shang Wandong the other female lead of this book.
The original body’s childhood friend Alpha, the person who accompanied her to the marriage hall.
The Shang and Yan families were neighbors and had a good relationship. The Shang family operated overseas year-round, and the parents weren’t around. The house was always left with just Shang Wandong and Shang Zhengling, so Zhao Daimann simply let the two of them move in.
Even though Shang Wandong was also one of the leads, Yan Xia really couldn’t bring herself to like her.
She wouldn’t dislike the protagonist like others did, but she also wouldn’t distance herself from those who bullied the female lead.
After the two of them confirmed their relationship, Shang Wandong was always busy traveling for her career. She left the female lead alone in an empty house, never even finding time to return for an anniversary.
The gap between them was too large. Shang Wandong was excellent and self-disciplined, while the female lead was mediocre and cowardly a difference of cloud and mud.
Yan Xia was certain that even if the female lead hadn’t died at the end, this relationship wouldn’t have lasted long in the future.
But upon seeing her for the first time, Yan Xia had to admit Shang Wandong was very beautiful. This face indeed had the capital to make the female lead fall in love.
Fortunately, she wasn’t someone who only cared about looks; she could hold her ground.
Shang Wandong walked down. She walked very lightly, her slender body wrapped in a silk nightgown. Her black hair fell softly on her shoulders, and for some reason, her face appeared somewhat pale.
“Sister Wandong, sit here.” Yan Siqiu pulled out the chair beside her, the admiration in her eyes almost turning into Cupid’s arrows. She called out fervently: “Come and sit!”
Shang Wandong glanced at her but ignored it.
She scanned the room and walked straight toward Yan Xia.
Shang Wandong’s features were exquisite but cold, fitting the popular “world-weary” style. When she had no expression, she always seemed indifferent, which naturally created a sense of distance.
Yan Siqiu was ignored by her but didn’t dare say anything. she could only watch helplessly as the other girl sat in the seat next to Yan Xia, gritting her teeth in anger.
Yan Xia:
Did I attract the female lead’s attention so quickly?
After all, my ‘Protagonist Halo’ is so bright, it’s only natural for her to have thoughts about me…
System: “Host, wake up. This is only your first time meeting!”
Yan Xia: “I don’t believe you. Girl, you’re talking out of spite.”
System:
Jokes aside, Yan Xia pushed away the “confident” thoughts in her mind. she secretly turned her head to observe Shang Wandong, only to meet the other’s gaze.
Shang Wandong locked eyes with her. Her black eyes were deep, and that look seemed to scan her from head to toe.
Yan Xia suddenly felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.
“Wandong, why do you keep looking at Yan Xia?” Zhao Daimann asked curiously. “Did she do something to make you angry?”
Yan Xia: Biological mom, what do you mean ‘I made her angry’? This is literally my first time seeing her!
“It’s nothing,” Shang Wandong said softly, finally averting her gaze.
Her voice was very pleasant, like a water droplet falling into a lake and rippling outward.
Yan Xia was confused: What does this person mean? Strange. Is the way I eat chicken wings actually heavenly?
At this point in time, the relationship between the female lead and Shang Wandong shouldn’t be that close, right? Could it really be because of the Protagonist Halo.
Yan Xia was greatly shocked. Amidst her amazement, she was about to retract her gaze.
But she suddenly noticed that the corner of Shang Wandong’s eye was tinged with an imperceptible faint red, like red ink bleeding diagonally onto white Xuan paper.
Those beautiful eyes. looked as if they had just finished a bout of crying.
