The Fragile Supporting Lady Is Too Clingy - Chapter 1
Li Shuyu awoke from her stupor, the glaring daylight almost stinging her eyes. Instinctively, she raised a hand to shield them.
Her legs trembled uncontrollably, and a sudden cramp sent her staggering. Only then did she realize she wasn’t lying down she was standing. This realization terrified her even more. Panicked, she stumbled back two steps, her legs giving way, and she collapsed onto the ground.
Immediately, urgent voices erupted around her.
“Miss! Third Miss, are you alright?!”
“Quick, someone help the Third Miss up! What are you all standing around for?!”
“It must be the Second Miss who frightened the Third Miss. Someone, go report this to the Old Madam at once! The Old Madam dotes on the Third Miss the most she’ll surely stand up for her!”
Li Shuyu’s mind was hazy, as if she were trapped in a dream. What kind of absurd talk was this?
Who were they calling “Third Miss”?
Why were they addressing her as “Third Miss” while holding her up?
And who was this “Old Madam”? Were people still using such archaic titles nowadays?
When she finally adjusted to the harsh light and opened her eyes, the sight of overlapping faces looming over her nearly made her faint again.
Bewilderment flashed in her eyes, and without thinking, she blurted out, “Who are you?”
The maid at the forefront, who had been supporting Li Shuyu, was startled by the question. She stared blankly at her for a moment before suddenly shrieking, “Ah someone fetch the physician! The Third Miss has fallen and gone mad!!!”
Li Shuyu: “…”
She struggled to process the words with her still-muddled brain, and in an instant, she was wide awake.
She straightened up abruptly, her eyes widening in shock.
What the hell? Did she just call me “Third Miss”?
Th-Th-Th-Third Miss?!
What kind of “Third Miss” am I supposed to be? I’m just an orphan!
A sudden thought struck her, and Li Shuyu looked down sharply. When she saw the exquisite ancient-style robes she was wearing, she nearly fainted again.
She pinched the palm of her hand hard hidden beneath her sleeve and the sharp pain confirmed it. Damn it, this wasn’t a dream. Had she gone insane?
Had she… time-traveled?!
Li Shuyu felt her entire world crumbling.
She had no idea which dynasty she’d landed in or whose body she now inhabited. She didn’t even dare speak carelessly. Pale-faced, she weakly twitched her lips and managed a few feeble words, “I’m fine, no need for a physician.”
The maid who had screamed earlier frowned slightly. She didn’t have the authority to decide but still advised, “Miss, it’s best to have the physician examine you, just to be safe.”
Outwardly calm, Li Shuyu was inwardly in turmoil. How could she have time-traveled? Why her, of all people? This damned ancient era didn’t even have air conditioning or refrigerators she’d die for sure!
As she bit her lip in distress, her peripheral vision caught a snow-white figure thrashing in the water not far away. She gasped in alarm.
Ignoring the maid’s suggestion, she pointed a trembling finger at the water, her voice filled with shock, “there’s someone drowning!”
The maid followed her gaze but remained calm, even showing a hint of disdain. She casually gestured to two other maids. “You two, go fish the Second Miss out.”
Li Shuyu was stunned. “The Second Miss? You’re just going to let your Second Miss drown?!”
When she’d looked over earlier, the person had already been struggling in the water for some time. “Second Miss”. that title alone meant she was a person of status in ancient times, right?
Were they all out of their minds? What kind of hellish place had she time-traveled into?
The leading maid seemed momentarily stunned before whispering after a pause, “Third Miss, wasn’t it you who said to let Second Miss swim in the water a bit longer to teach her a lesson?”
This time, it was Li Shuyu’s turn to freeze.
She vaguely recalled something, though not clearly. The maids around her all kept their heads bowed, their expressions respectful.
She couldn’t ask them too much, lest they notice something amiss, so she could only stride toward the lakeside with a stern face.
The woman struggling desperately in the water was pulled ashore, her soaked clothes clinging tightly to her delicate curves. She could only clutch the outer garment hastily thrown to her by a maid to cover herself.
Her delicate brows slightly furrowed, her red lips pressed tightly together, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears, she looked at Li Shuyu with a mix of grievance and fear.
Just one glance was enough to make Li Shuyu feel overwhelmingly guilty.
After all, it was the original owner of this body who had pushed her into the water…
And now that she had taken over this body, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of guilt, as though she were the one who had caused this.
The next moment, the woman before her spoke in a voice as soft and fragile as a little white flower, tinged with timidity, actually apologizing to her, “Third Sister, I didn’t mean to dirty your clothes. Please don’t be angry. From now on, I won’t touch you again…”
This demeanor felt inexplicably familiar. For some reason, a name flashed through Li Shuyu’s mind like lightning, and she tentatively called out, her voice trembling, ” Li Qiu Yue?”
The slender figure kneeling on the ground, wrapped in the outer garment, trembled slightly. Her voice was as faint as a mosquito’s hum, weak and barely audible as she replied, “Third Sister, is there anything else you need?”
Li Shuyu felt like she was about to faint.
It really was Li Qiu Yue.
Before going to bed last night, she had read a novel. The scene before her now eerily overlapped with the plot of that book, the same drowning, the same delicate and pitiful woman. Though in the novel, Li Qiu Yue had struggled in the lake for too long and fainted immediately after being rescued, never getting the chance to speak.
While reading, she had already sensed something was off!
The cannon-fodder character who died early in the novel actually shared her name, how unlucky, truly unlucky.
So transmigrating into a book with the same name was real. If only she had memorized the plot beforehand, QAQ.
Li Shuyu looked at the frail, willow-like woman before her with a mix of complexity and terror. Now that their identities were confirmed, she couldn’t help but recall the novel’s plot. This seemingly delicate and weak woman had later stabbed to death the sister who had bullied her for years, then framed the female lead, adding another obstacle to the already tumultuous love story between the female lead and male lead.
It was utterly shocking. She needed a moment to process, QAQ.
Of all the roles to transmigrate into, why did it have to be an early-death cannon fodder?!
Perhaps because she had been silent for too long, the maids around her grew nervous again. Frowning at the pitiful Li Qiu Yue on the ground, one of them supported Li Shuyu and asked solicitously, “Miss, is Second Miss offending your eyes? Shall this servant have her sent back at once?”
Li Shuyu’s hand, resting on the maid’s arm, trembled. She thought, if she had to transmigrate, why couldn’t it have been earlier?!
Now, after the original owner had already pushed her into the water, she was brought here was it just to clean up the mess?!
Li Qiu Yue must already hate the original owner by this point!
Li Shuyu swallowed hard with difficulty, stopping the maid who was about to arrogantly order Li Qiu Yue to be dragged away. Her voice was slightly hoarse, her eyes faintly reddened, inexplicably softening as she asked, “I just wanted to ask, if you’re feeling unwell anywhere?”
Just a moment ago, she had merely stumbled, and immediately a circle of people gathered around her with concern. Compared to Li Qiuyue, who stood all alone, Li Shuyu thought, if she didn’t turn dark-hearted after this, she must be truly kind-hearted.
Li Qiuyue seemed startled by this rare gentleness, trembling slightly as she lifted her damp head. She glanced timidly at Li Shuyu, then lowered her gaze again, shaking her head slowly.
