- Chapter 1 - Entering an Alien World, Encounter
The sun was sinking lower, casting a fiery red glow that looked like burning flames.
In a demon territory separated from the human and devil realms, the demon beasts reveled in extravagance. Not only were the materials used to build their houses entirely gold, but even ordinary utensils and decorative items were gold.
One glance revealed an endless expanse of glaring, blinding gold.
At this moment, the candlelight within the demon territory mingled with the residual sunlight, concealing the undercurrents within the region.
“Is it not ready yet?”
A cold voice sounded, immediately followed by a clearly flustered female voice.
“It is, it is, almost done!”
A shadow flashed across the window sill bathed in the sunset, accompanied by the chaotic jingle of gold bells.
Behind the bead curtain, the girl anxiously glanced out the window. Seeing the many monstrous demon beasts and the drop of several meters, she immediately abandoned the idea of jumping out the window.
What to do? How was she going to escape this place?
Xiao Yu struggled to take off the golden bells on her feet while racking her brains for a way to survive.
It was bad enough that she had transmigrated, but she had actually become a cannon fodder fox spirit whose life was about to be harvested, all in the novel she had read just a few days ago.
Xiao Yu’s hands trembled with anxiety.
After removing the two golden bells from her feet, Xiao Yu stood up barefoot and looked around. She didn’t see a pair of shoes.
There was only a bright red canopy bed and a dressing table covered with ornaments and cosmetics.
When she first transmigrated, Xiao Yu had looked in the mirror on the dressing table in a panic. The appearance of the body she was in was identical to her own.
The only good news was this identical face.
Hearing the urging voice from outside, Xiao Yu panicked, unsure how to respond.
The point in the plot where she transmigrated was precisely when the original body was sent by the Villain Demon Lord to seduce the man outside and then seize the opportunity to kill him.
The man outside was none other than the Villain’s mortal enemy, the most powerful Sword Venerable in the book, Wen Yu.
She had just transmigrated and had no idea how far the original body had gone.
Xiao Yu looked down at the few pieces of cloth she was wearing, her face contorted in worry.
The original body’s clothes had so many holes, and there were no other clothes in the room. How was she supposed to go out dressed like this?!
What should she do…
Xiao Yu looked at the figure beyond the bead curtain, brainstorming furiously, when a thought suddenly struck her.
She might as well just break the jar and reveal the original body’s plot, including the plot details about the Villain from the book.
Wen Yu was a good person in the book, a gentleman who punished evil and promoted good. More importantly, he wouldn’t kill the innocent indiscriminately.
If she confessed everything and stated that she had no such murderous intentions, perhaps Wen Yu would spare her.
Besides, with so many demon beasts outside, she didn’t dare stay by herself.
Xiao Yu nodded decisively, made up her mind, took a deep breath, and walked out from behind the bead curtain.
The clear sound of the beads colliding rang out, accompanied by footsteps. A slender, fair hand lifted the bead curtain, revealing a charming and captivating face.
The facial features on the round, oval face were outstanding, especially those fox eyes, which looked both tender and seductive. The corners of her eyes slanted upward like a hook, instantly drawing one’s soul away.
However, an expression of apprehension and anxiety was currently displayed on that alluring face.
Xiao Yu immediately saw the person who was standing with his back to her.
He wore clothes that were entirely white from head to toe. His hair was simply tied with a ribbon, and a jade flute in the color of emerald green hung from his waist.
Just standing there made people feel a chill.
He was like the snow on a frigid mountain that never melts, cold and aloof, making people afraid to approach.
This made Xiao Yu stop in her tracks.
Her clean foot soles touched the cold floor, and the chill invaded her entire body.
Xiao Yu didn’t dare to move.
The bead curtain behind her gradually stopped swinging, and the room became quiet.
Xiao Yu didn’t dare to speak first. She stood rooted to the spot, her mustered courage suddenly gone.
In the book, Wen Yu had instantly recognized the original body as a demon!
Although the original body was heavily wounded by Wen Yu only when she tried to force a kill, Xiao Yu started to panic as soon as she thought of the original body’s death.
What if Wen Yu didn’t believe her?
Her mind was in chaos. In her stunned state, she suddenly saw the person in front of her turn around.
He had sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes. His expression was indifferent, yet it tightly captivated her gaze, making her unwilling to look away.
When he looked at her, his eyes were completely calm.
Wen Yu’s gaze was indifferent. He opened his lips and spoke only one word: “Demon?”
A string snapped taut in Xiao Yu’s mind. She had clearly prepared what to do, but after walking in front of Wen Yu, her prepared speech was thrown out the window.
“Daoist Priest, spare my life! I’m a good person!” Xiao Yu jolted, realizing she was a demon, and immediately changed her words: “Bah, I’m a good demon!”
The panicking girl couldn’t completely control her body. A pair of fox ears suddenly popped out of the top of her head, their color as fiery and vibrant as the sunset in the sky.
The fox ears lay softly against her head, trembling, displaying the owner’s fear.
After saying this, Xiao Yu immediately closed her eyes, not daring to look, the fear in her heart making her involuntarily tremble as she desperately tried to think of a way to survive.
Wen Yu frowned upon seeing her voluntarily exposed demon ears.
Indeed, she was a demon.
Just as Wen Yu was about to speak, the candlelight in the room suddenly flickered violently. A strong gust of wind blew in from the window, lifting both their clothes.
Xiao Yu subconsciously clutched her clothes tightly, suddenly feeling a chill.
She cautiously cracked one eye open and saw Wen Yu turning his head to look out the window.
The sun was barely visible outside the gilded window; the sky had darkened.
Wen Yu’s profile appeared particularly defined and his features sharp under the candlelight.
When the wind stopped and the candles re-lit, Wen Yu turned back and asked again, “Can you tell me her whereabouts now?”
When Xiao Yu heard this, she vaguely remembered from the original body’s memory that the original body had lied about seeing the person Wen Yu was looking for in order to get close to him.
But the original body didn’t know anything.
And Xiao Yu had only read half of the book, and had skipped parts, so how could she know who Wen Yu was looking for?
“I, I actually don’t know…”
As soon as she finished speaking, Xiao Yu immediately sensed the undisguised, chilling coldness emanating from Wen Yu.
Xiao Yu panicked and spilled all the details of the mission the original body had been assigned, like pouring beans from a jar.
“I’m innocent! It was all that Demon Lord’s doing!”
Wen Yu waited for her to finish, his gaze lingering on the fox ears on the top of her head, which revealed her emotions, before subtly shifting back to Xiao Yu’s face.
Her current behavior was the complete opposite of what he had observed earlier.
It was as if a different soul resided within this body.
The last trace of light in the sky vanished, and candlelight replaced sunlight, becoming the only source of illumination in the demon territory.
Xiao Yu, highly strung, suddenly felt the entire room darken for a moment. When she opened her eyes wide and saw the room full of candlelight, she thought she had imagined it.
“The Demon Lord sent someone to seduce you and kill you, but I will absolutely not do such a wicked thing!”
Emphasizing her loyalty again, Xiao Yu looked eagerly at Wen Yu, waiting for him to speak and let her go.
Yet, the person in front of her only stared at her, making her heart pound nervously.
Those pitch-black eyes were like gravitational wells, sucking in all her emotions.
In a place Xiao Yu couldn’t see, a red mark crawled up the back of Wen Yu’s neck, a color so vivid it was indistinguishable from blood.
Just as Xiao Yu was extremely tense, she suddenly heard a disturbance outside. The fox ears on the top of her head immediately stood up, listening intently to the commotion outside the room.
Sounds of terrified, confused shouts, shattering vessels, object impacts, and chaotic footsteps merged together, instantly drawing Xiao Yu’s attention.
This caused her not to notice the subtle change in Wen Yu during that instant.
Looking at the distracted fox, Wen Yu’s eyes were deep, and he smiled faintly, focusing the question on the seduction aspect.
“He sent you to seduce me?”
When he spoke this sentence, his tone was subtly different from before.
Xiao Yu was pulled back to attention by the question but didn’t notice the change in his tone, nodding vigorously: “Yes, yes.”
Just as she finished speaking, the main door was smashed open, and a colossal, deep-blue beast rushed in. It opened its huge jaws, saliva dripping, its eyes scanning the two people in the room before finally settling on Wen Yu.
Xiao Yu heard the beast’s rough roar: “Damn human, I’m going to eat you!”
The demon beast opened its mouth wide and charged directly at Wen Yu. The violent movement brought a gust of wind that extinguished most of the candles.
Xiao Yu was already stunned upon seeing this demon beast.
She had never seen such a creature.
It didn’t seem like much when reading novels or watching TV shows, but now that she saw it with her own eyes, and so close, she was scared out of her wits.
Suddenly, countless fragments appeared in her terrified vision, all stabbing into the demon beast’s body at lightning speed. In the blink of an eye, the beast, whose size was larger than a tiger or a leopard, was reduced to broken pieces piled on the floor. A bloody mist filled the air, and the smell of blood was heavy.
The fragments suspended in the air were stained with blood droplets, which they quickly flicked away, instantly regaining their crystal-clear transparency. They then coalesced, forming a blood-colored jade flute that fell into Wen Yu’s hand.
Xiao Yu was at a loss for words or reactions.
Everything before her had exceeded her comprehension.
Her gaze followed the jade flute to Wen Yu’s clearly defined, bony hand. She suddenly felt that the next person to be killed by that thing might be her.
She tried to fight for herself again.
“Daoist Priest, don’t worry, I’m on your side!” Xiao Yu said, her voice a little shaky with emotion: “I swear, I will never harm you!”
In her words, she had completely distanced herself from the original body.
After she finished, she looked eagerly at Wen Yu, and the fox ears on top of her head drooped again.
No, no, she really didn’t want to die.
Wen Yu’s face was in shadow, so Xiao Yu did not see the flash of playfulness and killing intent in his eyes.
The title “Daoist Priest” rolled over in his mouth. He then stared at Xiao Yu and asked, “Are you telling the truth?”
His voice was like crystal beads scattering on a jade plate, the clear sound making Xiao Yu nod instinctively.
“Yes, yes!” Xiao Yu nodded frantically. When she heard Wen Yu speak again, her eyes instantly widened.
“Then seduce me, let me see.”
Xiao Yu: “Huh?”
Her eyes were wide, her eyelashes fluttering like a startled small animal, which only added a touch of moving vulnerability to her gaze.
“Wha- what?”
Was that line in the book?
Things seemed to be developing in a strange direction.
Wen Yu took a step, closing the distance between them in a few strides.
He leaned slightly forward, and the cold jade flute lifted Xiao Yu’s chin, allowing him to examine her face closely.
In less than a quarter of an hour, the flirtatious expression on the girl’s face had completely dissipated. Her still-damp eyelashes trembled, and when her light brown eyes looked at him, there was only the fear of death mixed with unease.
Yet, there was absolutely no killing intent.
The fox he had sent over was not like this.
She actually wants to defect?
A smile played on the corner of Wen Yu’s mouth, but his eyes held killing intent.
He took one more step closer. Just as he was about to move, a stinging sensation came from the back of his neck.
His eyes were instantly filled with malice.
Damn it, it was time again.
He withdrew the jade flute, raised his hand, and pinched Xiao Yu’s chin: “You don’t want to die, do you?”
Under Xiao Yu’s instantly brightened gaze, Wen Yu released his hand and looked down at her: “If you don’t do this, and the Demon Lord comes seeking accountability, you will be the next one to end up like that.”
Xiao Yu instinctively looked in the direction Wen Yu was pointing. The scene of gore immediately made her turn her head away, unable to look.
“Did you hear clearly?”
Seeing the little fox, who was delusional about breaking free from the Demon Lord, nodding repeatedly, Wen Yu was quite satisfied.
He had originally intended to kill this fox; he wouldn’t allow things to happen beyond his control.
However, causing trouble for the “other person” in this body was something he was happy to see.
The red mark on the back of his neck faded, and Wen Yu suddenly trembled all over.
When his vision refocused, he realized he was very close to the fox. He immediately backed away to create distance. He caught a glimpse of her opening her mouth as if to speak, but another voice rang out first.
“Master, Senior Brother has been captured!”
The newcomer burst into the room, saw a demon, and immediately drew his sword to strike.
Xiao Yu’s heart jumped. She subconsciously turned and looked in the direction of the voice, only to see a sword swiftly assaulting her chest.
Her mind went blank, her body stiffened, and she didn’t even have time to dodge.
