The Film Empress White Moonlight Wants To Be A Salted Fish - Chapter 2
After arriving home and parking the car, Chen Ziyun carried the groceries and went upstairs with Lu Yiran. Lu Yiran did not live with Pei Ruochu and the others because she had stubbornly run away from home to pursue acting.
After Lu Yiran left home, Pei Ruochu cut off all her cards. Fortunately, thanks to Chen Ziyun’s help, Lu Yiran lived as she had before, and was even invited by Chen Ziyun to live together.
Lu Yiran stretched and collapsed onto the sofa. “Finally home.”
“Your head wound hasn’t healed yet, so don’t wash your hair for the next few days,” Chen Ziyun instructed Lu Yiran on what to be careful about. After that, she left to return to the company to deal with work.
Lu Yiran watched TV, bored, eating the potato chips in her hand. All her previous efforts were for Wen Shiyan. If she stopped acting now, what else could she do?
Thinking about it gave Lu Yiran a headache. She frowned, turned off the TV, took off her jacket, and lay down on the bed, deciding to sleep on it.
In her dream, Lu Yiran vaguely felt her surroundings were noisy. She half-opened her eyes and reached for the phone on the bedside table.
The phone showed a lot of missed calls and messages from Chen Ziyun. After reading them, Lu Yiran called Chen Ziyun back.
“Lu Yiran! Listen, don’t go out. There are paparazzi staked outside, and a few reporters are also waiting outside the community. Draw the curtains.” Chen Ziyun sounded very anxious. Lu Yiran did as Chen Ziyun instructed, and only then did Chen Ziyun relax.
“I’ll be back in a moment. I’ll tell you more when I get back,” Chen Ziyun said and hung up.
Lu Yiran went to the front door and looked through the peephole. Sure enough, she saw a person lurking back and forth outside, occasionally glancing towards their apartment.
After finding something to eat to fill her stomach, Lu Yiran suddenly heard the sound of the door opening. She looked over in a panic but saw that it was Chen Ziyun returning.
As soon as Chen Ziyun came in, she took off her coat and handed it to Lu Yiran. “Put it on. Someone will pick you up downstairs in a moment. It’s not very safe here,” Chen Ziyun said, helping Lu Yiran put on a hat and a mask. Their heights were similar, and being so heavily wrapped up, it would be easy to mistake one for the other if one didn’t look closely.
Lu Yiran put on the clothes and looked at Chen Ziyun. “What about you?”
“I’ll go to your place later.” Only after hearing Chen Ziyun’s reply did Lu Yiran feel relieved enough to leave.
The paparazzi saw someone come out and were about to get up, but seeing it was Chen Ziyun, they didn’t pay attention and squatted back down. After Lu Yiran walked out of the community, the paparazzi and reporters continued to stake out for “Lu Yiran” herself.
Lu Yiran found the car Chen Ziyun mentioned. After getting in, she realized the driver was her family’s driver.
“Would you like some water, Miss?” the driver asked, reaching for a bottle of water. Lu Yiran waved her hand and placed her bag next to her. Her easy life was probably coming to an end.
Because of Lu Yiran, the crew first shot the scenes of other actors. While Wen Shiyan was resting, the director brought someone she didn’t know over to her.
Director Wang rubbed his hands and smiled at Wen Shiyan. “Shiyan, let me introduce you. This is Miss Xie Shuyao. She will be with the crew for a while. If she has any questions, please teach her.” After Director Wang finished speaking, he introduced the two, and then took Xie Shuyao away to meet others.
Wen Shiyan watched the two’s backs and then called her manager.
“Sister Xiao Yu, do you know about the crew planning to replace Lu Yiran?” Wen Shiyan’s words made Xiao Yu a little confused. “I haven’t heard anything about it, but if the crew is really going to replace her, they should notify her.”
Knowing that Xiao Yu didn’t know either, Wen Shiyan hung up and went to find Director Wang. After all, she still owed Lu Yiran a favor, Wen Shiyan thought.
“What about Miss Lu’s matter?” Wen Shiyan asked, looking directly into Director Wang’s eyes. Director Wang looked away, somewhat guilty, and chuckled. “We’ll handle it well in our crew. Shiyan, you just focus on filming. You were also startled this time, do you need a few days off to rest?” As Director Wang talked about things unrelated to Wen Shiyan’s question, Wen Shiyan knew the crew had ill intentions.
“Miss, we’ve arrived,” the driver said, getting out to open the car door for Lu Yiran.
Lu Yiran stood in front of her house, nervously clutching the hem of her clothes. Finally, she took a deep breath and went in.
“Mom, I’m back,” Lu Yiran said as soon as she entered and saw Pei Ruochu sitting on the sofa.
Putting down her computer, Pei Ruochu looked at Lu Yiran. “If I hadn’t asked the driver to pick you up, would you even know to come home?”
“Alright, as long as she’s back. Ziyun should be here soon. Let the children eat first,” Lu Chiqiu said, coming out of the kitchen and sitting down next to Pei Ruochu, embracing her. Pei Ruochu “hmph” and ignored Lu Yiran.
Lu Yiran knew she was in the wrong, after all, before she left, she had said she wouldn’t come home and didn’t need help from the family.
Lu Yiran was urged by Lu Chiqiu to wash her hands, and then Chen Ziyun arrived. As soon as she entered, she took off her sunglasses and mask, gasping for breath, and poured herself a glass of water.
“You worked hard, Ziyun,” Lu Chiqiu had just walked over to Chen Ziyun when Chen Ziyun couldn’t wait to complain about Lu Yiran to her.
“Auntie, you don’t know, Lu Yiran usually doesn’t listen to me at all. Now that she’s at home, you must discipline her properly,” Chen Ziyun said with a mischievous smile, looking at the gnashing Lu Yiran not far away.
However, what she said was true. Lu Yiran hadn’t listened to her when she advised her to give up on Wen Shiyan.
Lu Chiqiu nodded after hearing that and motioned for everyone to eat.
Lu Yiran was eating with her head down, and the small bowl in front of her was piled high with her favorite dishes by the three of them. Lu Yiran was very touched, but the problem was she couldn’t possibly finish so much!
“Stop!” Lu Yiran said, and the three of them paused their chopsticks and looked at her.
Lu Yiran looked at the three helplessly. “I can serve myself, I can’t even finish this much!” She said, gesturing for them to look at their “masterpieces.”
After dinner, Chen Ziyun and Lu Yiran sat on the sofa watching TV. Because Pei Ruochu and Lu Chiqiu were present, the two quietly went back to the room as it was inconvenient to do much.
As soon as they went in, Lu Yiran remembered something. Looking at the photos stuck on the wall, Lu Yiran fell into contemplation, while Chen Ziyun searched for other things related to Wen Shiyan.
“How should we deal with these, sell them?” Chen Ziyun said, walking towards Lu Yiran’s closet and pulling out a piece of clothing. After all, it was so expensive when they bought it, they couldn’t just burn it.
Lu Yiran closed her eyes and took a deep breath, finally gathering all the items related to Wen Shiyan into one pile. She found an iron basin somewhere and prepared to go downstairs with the items.
Chen Ziyun grabbed her arm as she was going downstairs. “Seriously, are you really going to burn all these things that cost so much?”
Hearing Chen Ziyun’s words, Lu Yiran looked at the contents of the iron basin with a look of disdain. “Of course, why wouldn’t I burn them? Your sister is rich now.” She said and went downstairs, and Chen Ziyun had no choice but to follow her.
They went to the empty backyard. For safety, Chen Ziyun brought a bucket of water and placed it nearby.
Chen Ziyun asked Lu Yiran one last time. “Seriously, do you want to burn them?”
Lu Yiran clenched her fists and looked at Chen Ziyun earnestly. “Burn them, why not?”
They tossed the matches into the iron basin. The raging fire consumed the items inside. The two squatted beside the iron basin, watching the contents gradually burn to ashes. After they were completely burned, a bucket of water was poured on them, and everything returned to normal.
Lu Yiran and Chen Ziyun didn’t pay much attention to the movements on the crew’s side. Who knew that in the evening, Chen Ziyun saw on Weibo that the crew was going to replace Lu Yiran, and the words implied that the accident was related to Lu Yiran.
Chen Ziyun was so angry that she slapped Lu Yiran on the back, nearly sending the unprepared Lu Yiran flying.
Before Chen Ziyun could explain what was going on to Lu Yiran, a phone call came in. Looking at the slightly familiar number, Chen Ziyun answered and heard a familiar voice.
The call connected, and Xiao Yu put down her laptop and asked, “You saw the Weibo, right? Do you need our help? After all, we still owe you a favor.”
Hearing Xiao Yu’s voice, Chen Ziyun got even angrier. “No need!” Chen Ziyun said and hung up. Xiao Yu, who had been shouted at, looked blankly at her phone’s black screen.
Chen Ziyun sent the news from Weibo to Lu Yiran’s phone, telling her to go read it quietly.
Finding the number of the crew’s director, Chen Ziyun took a deep breath, put a smile on her face, and dialed.
“Director Wang, did you perhaps forget something?” Chen Ziyun spoke politely to Director Wang on the surface, but in her heart, she wanted to murder him.
“Oh, about that, I seem to have forgotten to inform you about changing actors. But you should already know, so I won’t say more.”
Chen Ziyun was about to say something, but the voice on the other end disappeared.
Lu Yiran looked at Chen Ziyun with a grave expression. “So, we were used as a scapegoat?”
Chen Ziyun didn’t expect Lu Yiran to figure it out so quickly. She sat on a chair, slightly troubled, thinking about what to do. Looking up, she realized it was getting late. Remembering that Lu Yiran needed rest, Chen Ziyun told Lu Yiran that the matter could be resolved and not to worry, and then she left.
The problem was indeed not too big. If she couldn’t solve it, Lu Yiran’s mothers would also step in. Thinking this, Chen Ziyun relaxed, finished her beauty routine, and went to bed happily.
After Chen Ziyun left, Lu Yiran received a call from Wen Shiyan. Because Wen Shiyan would never have contacted her before, she had forgotten to blacklist Wen Shiyan. Wen Shiyan’s call just reminded her.
After blacklisting Wen Shiyan, Lu Yiran fell into a peaceful sleep.
Staring at the phone that couldn’t connect no matter what, Wen Shiyan pursed her lips. She really hadn’t expected to be blacklisted by Lu Yiran.
Day broke, and Lu Yiran woke up early. Sure enough, early to bed and early to rise makes one healthy. She felt completely refreshed now.
After eating, Lu Yiran got ready and went out. Before leaving, she guaranteed Chen Ziyun repeatedly that she wouldn’t wander off, and only then did Chen Ziyun agree to let her go out, with the agreement that she would pick her up later.
Lu Yiran, now free, told the driver her destination and happily scrolled through her phone. When they arrived, the driver alerted Lu Yiran, and she took her bag and got out of the car.
Looking at the sparsely populated streets, Lu Yiran joyfully wandered. Although many shops hadn’t opened yet, it was enough to make Lu Yiran happy.
As she passed a bar, a drunken girl suddenly appeared and bumped into Lu Yiran.
Lu Yiran was bumped backward repeatedly. She painfully held her arm. The girl realized she had bumped into someone and immediately bowed and apologized, her voice full of nervousness and unease.
Seeing that the girl looked young, Lu Yiran was afraid she was underage, so she gently asked her age.
“I’m a university student, I’m already 23,” the girl said, blushing and lowering her head.
Lu Yiran realized the girl was the same age as her. Worried that the girl was not safe alone, she explained the situation to the girl and prepared to take her away. As the girl followed Lu Yiran, the shy look on her face suddenly disappeared, and when Lu Yiran turned to look at her, she quickly resumed her cautious demeanor.
