The Ex-Wife of the Scumbag A Who Abandoned the Female Lead - Chapter 3
At first, Shi Nuocen didn’t recognize who she was and even thought about raising a hand to greet her. But upon hearing those words, she let out an exasperated laugh, twirling a strand of hair that fell by her shoulder. She lifted her eyes lazily to cast a sidelong glance, her tone dripping with condescension: “And who might you be? Speaking to me like that.”
As if realizing she hadn’t been recognized, the car owner’s expression remained unchanged, but her fingers gripping the steering wheel stiffened almost imperceptibly. After a moment, she extended a pale pink fingertip to push up the sunglasses on the bridge of her nose. A pair of stunningly beautiful phoenix eyes swept sideways, and her deliberately lowered voice was utterly enchanting: “Where I’m from, don’t you know?”
Shi Nuocen took one look at her. The first impression: a stunning beauty with a seductive voice, a true gem among mortals. The second impression: somewhat familiar, as if they’d met before.
The third impression hit her like a thunderbolt. Holy shit! Isn’t this my ex-wife?!
“Ru Xi Cheng?! How is it you?!” Shi Nuocen was utterly shocked and made no attempt to hide it.
“Why can’t it be me?” A flicker of anger simmered in the car owner’s eyes, but the smile on her lips grew even brighter.
Whether it was the smile or the gaze, both sent chills down Shi Nuocen’s spine. But in front of her ex-wife, how could she possibly cower, hugging herself for warmth like a frightened child? So she stood ramrod straight, spreading her feet slightly to project an imposing aura. Inevitably, the high slit of her dress revealed a section of jade-white calf.
Had a strong wind blown at that moment, it might have exposed everything from her knees to her thighs.
It’s not like she hadn’t seen it all before, Shi Nuocen thought with composure. Then, her eyes shifting slightly, she suddenly spoke in a sweet tone: “Of course it can be you. Beautiful Ru, mind giving me a ride?”
As she spoke, she elegantly curled her fingers and cast a flirtatious glance. With such a gorgeous driver and such a cool ride, it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity.
Ru Xi Cheng’s gaze, however, swept over her exposed leg, and she let out a soft laugh: “Mind? I do mind. But after all, it was once my possession. Can’t just abandon it and let others have a look.”
“Your possession?”
Shi Nuocen instantly bristled. With a thud, she kicked off one of her slippers, lifted her leg high, and placed her jade-white toes on the car doorframe. Leaning forward like a bandit king, she reached out and lightly hooked a strand of her ex-wife’s curly hair, exhaling a long breath: “It has always been my leg. I’ll show it to whomever I please, whenever I please. What’s it to you?”
“Of course, it’s none of my business now.” Ru Xi Cheng lowered her sunglasses, her cool fingertips tracing Shi Nuocen’s ankle, moving upward inch by inch. The tips of her manicured nails brushed against sensitive skin, sending shivers of tingling sensation, until her thumb gently wiped away a speck of mud near the knee.
Shi Nuocen lowered her eyes, quietly observing her movements. Once her fingers withdrew, she straightforwardly settled into the passenger seat. After all, her ex-wife hadn’t outright refused her request earlier, and her words had carried a hint of tacit consent.
After settling into her seat, she lifted her suitcase and placed it on the empty spot in the back row. Turning her head, she caught sight of a Barbie doll set on the back seat, an ultra-luxurious VIP custom edition. The doll was exquisitely crafted with delicate features, accompanied by twenty Baroque-style princess dresses for changing outfits. The most remarkable part was that these dresses were limited-edition collaborations with top-tier international luxury brands, each meticulously hand-sewn and adorned with gold thread, silver thread, pearls, gemstones, jade, and other accessories. A single dress was worth a six-figure sum! The entire set had to cost at least ten million!
Shi Nuocen couldn’t help but click her tongue in amazement, thinking, Ru Xi Cheng’s little niece is truly doted on! And this level of indulgence doesn’t seem like spoiling a niece. It’s more like raising her as a daughter!
Her gaze was so fixed on the doll set that, in her distraction, a certain rod-like strip, freed from its constraints, slowly unfurled and returned to its original triangular form.
Oh no!
By the time Shi Nuocen realized it, it was already too late!
Nervously, she glanced over and saw her ex-wife looking at her with a half-smile, reaching out to pinch a corner of the triangular fabric. Holding it up and giving it a shake, she remarked disdainfully, “Your taste has really gone downhill. And you’ve actually gained weight.”
Shi Nuocen’s cheeks flushed slightly. She snatched back the underwear and forced out a sentence through gritted teeth, “Can’t you just pretend you didn’t see it? And I haven’t gained any weight at all!”
So, what if I went from 92 pounds three years ago to 95 pounds now? I’m 1.75 meters tall! I’m definitely still on the slim side!
Unexpectedly, her ex-wife, who had once been as pure and aloof as a delicate flower, leaned in closer. Her pink lips parted slightly as she demanded hush money in a drawn-out, lazy tone, her eyes narrowing with amusement. “I could pretend I didn’t see it and keep my mouth shut, but what’s in it for me?”
Shi Nuocen responded with a cold laugh. She stretched out her leg, her bare toes slipping past the driver’s seat partition to rest on the other’s knee, and retorted irritably, “How about letting you touch it? This leg is insured for 100 million! A few touches, and you’d be making a profit, alright!”
Though it was a rather shameless move, Ru Xi Cheng actually placed her hand on it, starting from the toes and kneading gently as she said with a faint smile, “If that’s the case, then I suppose I’ve already made a fortune in the past. After all, I’ve done more than just touch.”
“Kissed it, caressed it, held it in my arms. Right?” Shi Nuocen finished the sentence without a hint of embarrassment.
Ru Xi Cheng chuckled, her eyes behind her glasses seeming to deepen. “The texture isn’t as good as it used to be.”
“Hah, that’s because you’ve touched too many pretty girls’ legs, so naturally, you look down on my 24-year-old ‘old legs’ now.” Shi Nuocen abruptly pulled her long leg back, her tone dripping with sarcasm as her toes brushed against the watch strap on the other’s wrist.
She didn’t need to look to recognize the distinctive pattern. It was a luxury mechanical watch worth 88 million from a renowned high-end brand! Hmph! Thinking about the shabby watch her own sister had tossed her way, she felt even more resentful.
But then she suddenly sensed something was off, it was too quiet. Ru Xi Cheng hadn’t retorted at all.
Shi Nuocen recalled their earlier conversation and thought to herself, Oh, so she’s tacitly admitting she has plenty of pretty girls around her. But that’s not surprising. After all, it’s the entertainment industry, teeming with beauties. With Ru Xi Cheng’s status and family background, what kind of beauty could she possibly lack?
The thought didn’t stir any particular feelings in her. But when she glanced up, she noticed her ex-wife quietly observing her. What was she hoping to see? Jealousy? Definitely not.
Ru Xi Cheng soon averted her gaze, looking out the window at the lonely Husky slipper not far away. Casually, she asked, “Aren’t you going to pick it up?”
“No need.” Shi Nuocen propped her chin on her hand, sounding listless. “I’m starving. Let’s just go. You can drop me off at No. 6 Xingchen Road.”
Was it her imagination, or did the person beside her seem to hold her breath for a moment when she uttered those first three words?
Unable to resist, Shi Nuocen glanced sideways and saw Ru Xi Cheng unbuckle her seatbelt, step out of the car, retrieve the Husky slipper, and place it beside her leg. “It’s better not to litter,” she said calmly.
With that, she started the car and drove Shi Nuocen to the designated location. A small European-style house enclosed by a fence.
Shi Nuocen thanked her, then grabbed her suitcase, slipped on the Husky slippers, and rang her best friend’s doorbell.
“Oh my god! What happened to you? Did you get robbed?” her best friend, Xiao Linrui, exclaimed in shock.
“Worse than being robbed!” Shi Nuocen fumed. “A robber would only take my money for a moment, but my sister wants to cut off my livelihood for the rest of my life! Do you have any food? I’m starving!”
“At this hour, the housekeeper has already left. All we have is instant noodles. Someone as picky as you, who only eats gourmet food, probably can’t stomach it, right?”
Hearing that only instant noodles were available, Shi Nuocen initially wanted to order from a three-Michelin-star restaurant. But remembering she had no money and that borrowing 5,000 from her best friend just for one meal was unreasonable especially since she couldn’t pay it back; she resigned herself. “Instant noodles it is, then.”
“Here, there are five flavors. Which one do you want?”
Shi Nuocen scanned the options: pork bone broth, chicken and mushroom stew. She picked the one that sounded the most luxurious: “Seafood Supreme!”
But after just one bite, she spat it all out. She couldn’t stand the taste, overwhelmingly fishy and pungent.
“Hey, you said your sister confiscated all your money. So how did you get here?”
Wiping her mouth, Shi Nuocen replied, “I ran into an acquaintance on the way. She was driving in the direction of my place, so I flagged her down and asked for a ride. She agreed, simple as that.”
To her surprise, her best friend responded, “That’s not simple at all! My place and yours are in completely opposite directions. From what you said, she was in the middle of something when you stopped her, yet she dropped everything just to bring you here? Wow! What’s their gender? Must be an Omega, right? Do they have a crush on you?”
“A crush on me? Hah.” Shi Nuocen waved her hand dismissively, her smile not reaching her eyes. “More like they hate me.”
“Huh?” Her best friend was stunned by the unexpected answer.
In the end, Shi Nuocen opted to eat the instant noodles dry. Though bland, at least there was no risk of throwing up, and it filled her stomach.
My best friend agonized for thirty minutes before finally snapping out of it. She abruptly stood up, whipped out an ultra-thin laptop, and exclaimed excitedly, “Play this game with me! They say the first player to beat it wins a 200,000-yuan prize! I’ve tried 30 times and still haven’t succeeded. Do you think you can do it?”
Only 200,000 yuan? Not interested. Shi Nuocen almost said it out loud, but then she remembered her current financial struggles and forced herself to show some enthusiasm. She patted her cheeks to perk up and asked, “What game is it?”
“Falling in Love with Ru Xi Cheng!”
“…”
