Chapter 34: “Will Ms. Rong Let Me Kiss Her?”
Rong Wei naturally noticed the full range of Jiang Yu’s emotions.
She wasn’t an aggressive person. Seeing Jiang Yu remain silent, she didn’t press her, simply taking a silk-textured box out of her suit pocket and opening it naturally.
Within Jiang Yu’s line of sight appeared two exquisite brooches.
One brooch had a flower section made of gold, not fully bloomed; the craftsman had made it look like it was still in bud. The stamen at the center was inlaid with red and blue sapphires, giving it a vibrant sense of life force.
The other was a cheetah brooch with a chalcedony inlay in the center. Its eyes were dotted with emeralds, similarly imbued with countless power, poised and ready.
Rong Wei could immediately tell the exquisite beauty of the two brooches, and her surprise grew even stronger.
“Snap out of it?”
Rong Wei’s tone was gentle but effective. Jiang Yu was immediately pulled back to reality.
Jiang Yu instinctively gave Rong Wei a bright, radiant smile in return.
She was naturally delighted in her heart, but she subconsciously weighed the implications.
The brooches were very valuable, and she didn’t want too much entanglement with Rong Wei.
But the meaning of this gift was special, and upon careful thought, it seemed she couldn’t point out anything wrong with it.
At worst, she would just buy something else of value to give back. She wouldn’t let Rong Wei lose out, in any case.
Thinking this, Jiang Yu extended her hand and finally accepted the gift from Rong Wei with a clear conscience, responding courteously: “Thank you, Ms. Rong.”
Rong Wei smiled sweetly: “You’re welcome.”
The brief exchange ended. Jiang Yu looked at Rong Wei, still a little curious about how Rong Wei knew her birthday, but before she could ask, she heard Rong Wei’s voice again.
As if they were telepathic, Rong Wei saw through her intention, and her red lips slightly parted: “Your identification information is on the company contract. I glanced at it.”
Jiang Yu sighed in admiration: “Ms. Rong has quite a good memory.”
“This is so valuable, I feel a little embarrassed accepting it. Tell me, Ms. Rong, what gift would you like in return?”
The moment the words left her mouth, Jiang Yu noticed Rong Wei looking at her intently.
Initially, Jiang Yu was genuinely asking, but now, Jiang Yu suddenly seemed to remember the method of repayment.
She was still holding onto Rong Wei’s arm, but she adjusted her stance slightly, deliberately closing the distance by raising herself onto her tiptoes and blowing a breath toward Rong Wei’s neck.
As if brushed by a soft kitten’s tail, an unusual itch surged in Rong Wei’s heart.
Jiang Yu’s intention to kiss was obvious, and Rong Wei could certainly sense it.
But just before Jiang Yu’s lips could land, Rong Wei raised her hand and gently pressed a finger against Jiang Yu’s collarbone.
The force was somewhat strong. Jiang Yu’s movement was precise, and she didn’t understand why Rong Wei would block her at this moment, a look of confusion on her face.
“Jiang Yu.”
In her confusion, Jiang Yu heard Rong Wei call her name.
Jiang Yu subconsciously hummed in reply. Rong Wei continued: “I didn’t give you a gift because I wanted something in return. It’s simply my sincere wish for you to be happy, safe, and healthy.”
“Mmm…” After a long while, Jiang Yu nodded in response, then blinked at Rong Wei and said again: “I know, but that doesn’t change the fact that I want to kiss you right now.”
Rong Wei studied Jiang Yu closely, her gaze burning.
“So, will Ms. Rong let me kiss her?”
Rong Wei didn’t speak, her response to Jiang Yu was a passionate, wet kiss.
The box containing the brooches was placed on the table. Without realizing it, Jiang Yu took Rong Wei’s hand.
They kissed lightly, almost tasting each other, but before Jiang Yu felt satisfied, she felt Rong Wei pull away.
Rong Wei raised a hand, gently wiping the moisture around her lips, and said in a low voice: “Go shower first.”
“Together?”
Rong Wei looked deeply at Jiang Yu, then picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.
…
The sound of trickling water came from the bathroom.
It was a familiar setting, except this time, their clothes didn’t get soaked.
They faced each other with smooth, soft skin.
…
After leaving the bathroom, Jiang Yu and Rong Wei moved to the guest bedroom.
The guest bedroom had a bay window covered with a layer of white sheer curtain. From inside the room, one could see the entire view outside.
Jiang Yu had already decided earlier that she wanted to be more daring today.
She held the bath towel she had brought with her and pointed to the bay window not far away: “Ms. Rong, let’s go there today, shall we?”
Rong Wei glanced in the direction of Jiang Yu’s finger, then looked at her thoughtfully: “You want something different today?”
Jiang Yu nodded, her tone frank: “Yes, I’m in a good mood today.”
Rong Wei smiled: “Then let’s try it.”
Moving to the cramped space, the restricted area made one instinctively tense their back. Jiang Yu felt nearly every cell in her body was taut.
Yet, she didn’t dislike this tension. In fact, the keen sense of pleasure it transmitted was rarely found or imagined in ordinary days.
This was another kind of exquisite experience, one that almost made her toes curl uncontrollably.
The room was clearly air-conditioned to a moderate temperature and wasn’t hot, but by the time they finished, Jiang Yu was covered in sweat.
Jiang Yu felt quite weak today. She curled up in a corner of the bed, quietly watching Rong Wei pick up the bath towel that had been laid out on the bay window earlier.
The pale yellow color had darkened, and it felt heavy and damp in her hand.
“How do you plan to handle this?” Rong Wei asked seriously.
Jiang Yu hadn’t felt embarrassed until Rong Wei asked. She suddenly felt a little awkward: “Just throw it away. I don’t really want to take it with me.”
Mainly because the imagery was too vivid. Seeing this towel reminded Jiang Yu of everything that happened on the bay window.
Rong Wei chuckled, agreeing softly.
They started early today and finished early. After Jiang Yu showered and returned to the dry bed in the master bedroom, it was barely ten o’clock at night.
She felt lazy all over. She didn’t want to go outside, nor did she feel like smoking by the bedside. Instead, she simply felt the cigarette box and stared intently at the box containing the Imperial Green jade bracelet she had brought in earlier.
It was quite a coincidence, actually.
She hadn’t expected Rong Wei to know her birthday, nor had she expected Rong Wei to prepare jewelry for her.
“What are you thinking about?”
Rong Wei, having showered, asked actively when she saw Jiang Yu’s absent-minded look.
Jiang Yu casually picked up the box and said directly: “I actually have a gift for Ms. Rong too.”
Rong Wei: “Oh?”
“Come and see.”
Rong Wei nodded, slowly walked over, and picked up the box in Jiang Yu’s line of sight.
It felt heavy in her hand. Rong Wei looked up, asking Jiang Yu if she could open it.
Jiang Yu replied naturally: “It’s for you. Of course, you can look whenever you like.”
Rong Wei hummed.
The box opened, and a naturally rich emerald color flowed with light.
Rong Wei immediately recognized it as an Imperial Green jade bracelet of high-ice clarity, with a conservative estimated price in the mid-eight figures.
Rong Wei seemed to understand Jiang Yu’s intention without her needing to say much. She continued looking at the bracelet and calmly said: “Thank you. However, Miss Jiang always seems to exchange at a premium.”
Jiang Yu smiled and explained: “Not exactly. I just thought it suited you very well, and I don’t particularly like wearing things like this myself.”
Rong Wei looked at Jiang Yu thoughtfully and did not speak for the moment.
After exchanging gifts, Jiang Yu fell silent.
She looked at Rong Wei and tentatively asked: “Should we rest?”
Rong Wei softly hummed, but quickly changed the subject: “Not yet.”
“The day isn’t over yet. I’ve asked someone to prepare longevity noodles and a birthday cake. Take a look and choose one.”
“You have to make a wish, after all.”
Jiang Yu was stunned again, looking earnestly at Rong Wei.
They had always had a habit of keeping the lights off or very dim after their sessions.
They both felt it made the atmosphere more ambiguous and comfortable.
Only a small nightlight was on in the bedroom, making it quite dim.
In the dim light, Jiang Yu quietly looked at Rong Wei, the word divinity inexplicably popping into her mind.
She said: “Ms. Rong is so good, I don’t know how to thank you.”
Rong Wei smiled: “There’s no need for thanks. It’s just a small favor.”
Rong Wei opened her mouth, intending to say more, but in the end, she just said: “Do you want to eat here or go out?”
Jiang Yu: “Here. I don’t really feel like moving.”
Rong Wei nodded, easily agreeing, and left the bedroom. When she returned, she held a delicate small cake in one hand and a small bowl of noodles in the other.
Clearly, after all this time together, Rong Wei was aware of her appetite.
So, the portions Rong Wei prepared these times were never large, ensuring no waste and not making her feel burdened.
Perhaps because of the high level of activity today, Jiang Yu’s appetite was quite good; she felt a faint sense of hunger.
When Rong Wei brought the food over, Jiang Yu sat up and stared at the cake and noodles: “I choose to eat the cake and make a wish first, and then eat the noodles.”
Rong Wei raised an eyebrow and placed the two items on the bedside table.
She had already prepared a lighter, took it out of her pocket, lit the candle, and stuck it into the cake.
The flickering candlelight looked exceptionally warm.
Jiang Yu glanced at Rong Wei, then turned towards the cake. She clasped her hands together—something she hadn’t done in a long time—and closed her eyes.
What wish should I make?
Jiang Yu suddenly felt puzzled.
She had always been a staunch materialist, rarely making wishes.
Because, rather than wishing, she preferred to believe in herself, in the power of her own two clasped hands.
Since that was the case, she would make a wish for something she could achieve with effort.
Jiang Yu silently thought to herself, not being greedy, making only one wish, then opened her eyes and blew out the candle.
Rong Wei stood nearby, watching her in a relaxed posture.
Seeing her finish making her wish, Rong Wei maintained her composure and didn’t ask further, naturally handing her a fork for the cake.
Since it was something Rong Wei prepared, Jiang Yu felt a little bad enjoying it alone.
Holding the fork, she looked at Rong Wei: “Ms. Rong, would you like to join me?”
Rong Wei raised an eyebrow: “No, I don’t like sweets.”
Jiang Yu nodded understandingly and didn’t insist.
Jiang Yu still wanted to eat the longevity noodles. She only ate one-third of the cake, then picked up a strand of noodles: “What about the noodles, Ms. Rong? Are you not eating those either?”
Rong Wei hesitated for a moment, then said, “Okay.”
The bed beside her dipped. Jiang Yu felt Rong Wei sit beside her. She took a bite first, then unwrapped a new pair of chopsticks and handed them to Rong Wei: “Please don’t mind, Ms. Rong.”
Rong Wei looked at her calmly: “Sharing your good fortune. I don’t mind at all.”
Jiang Yu smiled. The strands of hair falling across her forehead made her look exceptionally soft.
Inadvertently, Jiang Yu and Rong Wei made eye contact.
They looked at each other but neither spoke.
For some reason, at this moment, a strange sense of warmth welled up inside Jiang Yu.
