Chapter 28: “I’ve booked that suite for six months.”
The quality of sleep following extreme exhaustion and satisfaction tends to be very high.
When Jiang Yu woke up the next day, although some parts of her body were still a little sore, her overall mental state was excellent.
She felt energized all over when she looked in the mirror. After washing up, she left the bathroom and happened to see Rong Wei.
Rong Wei had woken up around the same time. The idea of washing up together felt too strange, so since there were two bathrooms, they each used a separate one.
Rong Wei spoke: “I’ve asked the chef to send up breakfast. Shall we eat together in a moment?”
Jiang Yu looked around and saw the steaming food on the table. She didn’t refuse: “Thank you, Ms. Rong. I will respectfully accept.”
Jiang Yu’s hair was a little long, so she partially tied it up and then walked to the dining table.
They sat opposite each other. It wasn’t their first time eating together, and since they had already shared intimacy, Jiang Yu felt no shyness.
She mumbled, “I’m digging in,” then lowered her gaze, selected her food, and prepared to eat breakfast.
Rong Wei had asked the chef to prepare many items, both Western and Chinese. The portions were small and exquisitely plated, suitable for two people.
Jiang Yu’s stomach wasn’t very good. Although she drank coffee and ate cold vegetable salads, she always made sure to eat something warm for breakfast if she ate at all.
The vegetable porridge on the table was one she had seen before. Jiang Yu didn’t bother choosing and just took a small half-bowl of porridge.
It was the rich flavor she remembered. Jiang Yu casually remarked: “The chef at this hotel is very good. I should ask if they can deliver food to my home someday.”
Rong Wei’s table etiquette was excellent; she made almost no unnecessary noise while eating.
Hearing Jiang Yu speak, she gently put down her spoon and asked: “You like it very much?”
Jiang Yu nodded: “Not necessarily, it’s just quite palatable.”
Rong Wei looked thoughtfully at the breakfast on the table. After a moment, she retracted her gaze and hummed an acknowledgment.
After that brief exchange, Jiang Yu and Rong Wei didn’t speak further, lapsing into silence.
They ate at a similar pace and put down their spoons almost simultaneously.
“I’m going to get ready,” Jiang Yu said, giving a heads-up as she left her seat.
Rong Wei said, “Okay.”
Thinking that Rong Wei would also need to change, Jiang Yu considerately took her clothes and makeup to the guest room.
After applying some simple makeup and changing, she emerged thirty minutes later.
Coincidentally, Rong Wei had also just finished getting ready and was standing in the living room, seemingly having just sprayed perfume.
A rich scent of agarwood and oud filled the air.
The top notes of woody scents are mostly bitter, and the sweet middle and base notes were not yet detectable.
Jiang Yu casually said: “Your perfume smells quite nice, Ms. Rong.”
Rong Wei looked at Jiang Yu, clearly discerning the politeness in her eyes. She replied simply: “Thank you for the compliment. Time is about up, let’s go.”
They were about to leave the executive suite.
Although they would meet here again in a week, Jiang Yu still wanted to kiss Rong Wei right now. Since she hadn’t applied lipstick yet, she wasn’t worried about messing up Rong Wei’s makeup.
She thought so in her mind and acted accordingly.
She stood on her tiptoes and quickly gave Rong Wei a peck on the cheek: “See you next week.”
Rong Wei smiled and looked at Jiang Yu. She didn’t seem surprised by the sudden kiss, merely replying: “See you next week.”
“Shall we go down together?” Rong Wei asked, picking up her bag.
“Of course, I can’t let Ms. Rong wait for me.”
Jiang Yu and Rong Wei got into the elevator together.
When the elevator doors closed, the two stood in the same direction, not far apart physically, yet they were silent, neither initiating conversation.
Especially when the elevator stopped on the twentieth floor and three young women got in.
They looked quite young, lively, talkative, and seemed like good friends.
Jiang Yu and Rong Wei subtly created some distance, remaining silent and avoiding eye contact, making them appear like strangers.
It wasn’t until the first floor, after the young women had left, that Jiang Yu and Rong Wei exchanged words again, finally looking at each other before exiting the elevator.
Jiang Yu walked toward the exit, contemplating the suite’s renewal fee, when Rong Wei’s voice suddenly sounded in her ear.
“I’ve booked that suite for six months.”
Jiang Yu let out a surprised “Ah,” then replied: “Okay, send me the bill, and I’ll transfer the payment to you.”
Rong Wei looked up at her: “This amount of money is nothing to either of us. There’s no need to tally it up.”
Jiang Yu said “Awoh,” but insisted on her idea: “Then let me get you some jewelry, don’t refuse me.”
Hearing the word “jewelry,” Rong Wei suddenly recalled something, and the corners of her mouth lifted.
Doing things as agreed upon was fine. She respected Jiang Yu’s way of operating and accepted her suggestion: “Then I thank Miss Jiang in advance.”
After leaving the hotel, the two exchanged a brief greeting and completely parted ways.
…
Today was Sunday, and Jiang Yu had no work. She had already arranged with Lu Linqiao for a spa day.
Jiang Yu was quite close to the spa from the hotel, so she arrived earlier than Lu Linqiao.
She waited for Lu Linqiao and didn’t start any treatments yet, simply asking a staff member to give her a neck and shoulder massage.
Ten minutes later, Lu Linqiao arrived. Seeing Jiang Yu already receiving a massage, she said: “You’re quite early today.”
Jiang Yu smiled, rolling her eyes playfully: “Woke up early, so I came straight here.”
Lu Linqiao nodded, walked over to Jiang Yu’s side, and after a moment, stopped and asked suspiciously: “Did you change your perfume?”
Jiang Yu was surprised. The movements of the masseuse paused slightly. She vaguely recalled the morning spent with Rong Wei at the hotel.
She looked at Lu Linqiao, pursed her lips, and then said: “No.”
Seeing Jiang Yu’s hesitant look, Lu Linqiao seemed to understand something.
But this was a private matter. Since Jiang Yu didn’t elaborate, Lu Linqiao didn’t press, merely smiling and saying: “Be safe, and have fun.”
Jiang Yu returned Lu Linqiao’s smile: “I will.”
The two didn’t dwell on the topic for long and moved on to other conversations. When they entered the room to start their treatments, Lu Linqiao felt a little sleepy and told Jiang Yu she was going to nap for a bit.
But the next second, as if something had just occurred to her, she suddenly opened her eyes and glanced in Jiang Yu’s direction.
“Oh right, there’s something I need to tell you.”
“I was temporarily invited to be a judge for a model selection competition. The schedule clashes with Qijiang’s project, so you’ll probably have to handle the Qijiang project alone.”
Jiang Yu reacted quickly: “Isn’t that great? The model competition can help our company scout a lot of talent.”
“Don’t worry about Qijiang. Just leave it to me.”
“I will try my best to negotiate a relatively perfect conclusion for both the runway and endorsement agreements.”
Hearing this, Lu Linqiao sighed: “Hey, just do your best. After all, Qijiang isn’t a small company.”
Jiang Yu lowered her eyes.
As Lu Linqiao said, Qijiang Apparel, with whom they were about to collaborate, was a newly established clothing company. Logically speaking, they shouldn’t have much to worry about.
But both Jiang Yu and Lu Linqiao were aware of the commercial empire behind Qijiang:
—Jinsheng Conglomerate.
Jinsheng Conglomerate was one of Asia’s top financial groups. Its headquarters were established in Lincheng, backed by a century-old Lincheng family, possessing vast assets and holding a pivotal position.
Especially in recent years, after the new head took power, the conglomerate expanded many overseas businesses, and its development speed in Europe and America was exceptionally rapid.
The Qijiang project was their latest venture into a new field.
