- Chapter 22 - What is Possessiveness?
“Qin Chaomu, if you continue to do these excessive things, I’ll…”
Shen Guai hooked her arms back around Qin Chaomu’s neck, her gaze locked onto Qin Chaomu’s vermillion lips. Her watery eyes grew uncharacteristically dim.
“You’ll what?”
Qin Chaomu had never seen Shen Guai like this. In her memory, Shen Guai was always loud and boisterous. Qin Chaomu looked at her seriously, waiting for her answer.
I’ll take it seriously.
Shen Guai, of course, wouldn’t speak her thoughts aloud. She looked up, meeting Qin Chaomu’s inquisitive gaze, and raised an eyebrow with a smile: “I’ll tell Chen Qinghe everything you’ve done to me.”
“Do you want Chen Qinghe to know that while you’re secretly in love with her, you’re entangled with another woman?”
Shen Guai’s fingers moved upward, covering Qin Chaomu’s lips.
For some reason, Qin Chaomu’s heart skipped a beat. Those usually sparkling, watery eyes now hid a complexity that Qin Chaomu couldn’t decipher.
Qin Chaomu didn’t understand, and no one could, the unspoken emotions Shen Guai was unable to voice.
Qin Chaomu frowned and remained silent for a long moment before speaking: “Shen Guai, when the nurse delivered you, did they leave your brain inside and attach the umbilical cord to your neck instead?”
“Qin Chaomu, are you sick? Did nine years of compulsory education fail to purify that foul mouth of yours?”
Shen Guai, insulted for no reason, pushed Qin Chaomu in anger, but Qin Chaomu grabbed her hands in return.
“I’m in love with Chen Qinghe? Shen Guai, are you a koala spirit? How can someone be this dense? Hmm?” Qin Chaomu laughed out of sheer frustration.
Yes, how can someone not feel my heart stirring at all? Qin Chaomu wondered.
“You don’t like Chen Qinghe?” The light suddenly returned to Shen Guai’s eyes.
“Heh.” Qin Chaomu arched an eyebrow, her smile chilling.
“If you don’t like Chen Qinghe, why won’t you let me like her?” Shen Guai held Qin Chaomu’s finger, her thumb stroking Qin Chaomu’s index finger.
Shen Guai suddenly sat up against the wall, closing the distance between their bodies, forcing the question: “Qin Chaomu, do you like me?”
“Get lost.”
Qin Chaomu withdrew her hand from Shen Guai’s grasp, rolled over restlessly, and moved far away from her. She pulled out an e-cigarette, placed it to her lips, and slowly exhaled a cloud of vapor.
“Qin Chaomu, if you don’t answer, I’ll take it as a default ‘yes’.”
Shen Guai leaned in, snatched the e-cigarette from Qin Chaomu’s mouth, and hid it behind her back. “Confiscated.”
Her large eyes stared straight at Qin Chaomu, her attitude extremely arrogant.
“Shen Guai, you…”
Qin Chaomu sighed. She covered her lips, feigning a yawn, and then pressed a throw pillow over her face.
“If it weren’t for the event tomorrow and my need for rest, you’d be dead tonight.” Qin Chaomu’s voice was muffled by the pillow.
Shen Guai pulled the pillow away and tossed it aside. She propped her hands on either side of Qin Chaomu’s body and knelt over her. “Qin Chaomu, but I want to die tonight.”
With that, Shen Guai covered Qin Chaomu’s eyes with one hand, supported herself with her other elbow, and lowered her body, pressing her cherry lips against Qin Chaomu’s.
A soft, crisp sensation traveled from her lips directly to her brain’s nerve endings. Shen Guai slowly closed her eyes, greedily drinking in Qin Chaomu’s small tongue.
Shen Guai felt a deep sadness, she knew not where the love began, nor the root of her sorrow.
Listening to Qin Chaomu’s increasingly rapid breathing, Shen Guai kissed deeper. Her tongue tip ventured out, tentatively touching Qin Chaomu’s. After capturing that hint of fragrant softness, Shen Guai’s assault grew more fierce, tangling directly with Qin Chaomu’s tongue.
Shen Guai could clearly feel the woman beneath her softening, like a kitten stretching its back in cooperation when its fur is stroked. When Shen Guai bit down on the pink tip of Qin Chaomu’s tongue, the “kitten’s” body trembled violently.
Satisfied, Shen Guai removed her hand from Qin Chaomu’s eyes. She opened her own to scrutinize Qin Chaomu’s eyes, which were brimming with tears from the pain.
After a few light bites, Shen Guai slowly licked the shallow bite marks on the tip of the tongue, like a small beast tending to its companion’s wound.
“Mmh..” Qin Chaomu’s eyelashes trembled, and a crystalline tear traced a path down the corner of her eye due to the sting.
Shen Guai kissed her eyes.
Qin Chaomu’s gaze grew increasingly blurred, her face flushed with a crimson hue like a beauty three-parts drunk shy, yet enough to steal one’s wits. Her hands gripped the bedsheets tightly, her earlobes turning a blood-red.
Shen Guai loved Qin Chaomu’s earlobes. Not just because they were sensitive, but because Qin Chaomu, who was terrible at lying, would always have her ears turn red first whenever she was moved.
Shen Guai’s gaze became entangled with Qin Chaomu’s. She pinched Qin Chaomu’s chin, turning her face halfway to the side, and bit her earlobe.
“Ha… Shen Guai… you’re like a dog…”
Qin Chaomu cursed in frustration. Her body curled up, her fingers nearly tearing the thin, cheap bedsheet. Her eyes were red, tears swirling within.
“Sister…”
Shen Guai’s sweet voice crawled into Qin Chaomu’s ear like ants. Her tongue savored the texture of the skin on the earlobe before her lips pressed down.
“Why do you have to stay in the same room as Chen Qinghe? I don’t like it.”
Shen Guai’s lips wandered over Qin Chaomu’s face before landing on her mouth again for a light graze. She stared intently at Qin Chaomu’s lips as if eyeing a post-dinner dessert. Her smile was eerie. “I’m a germaphobe. Now that you’ve kissed me, you’re not allowed to kiss anyone else.”
Qin Chaomu was stunned.
What was this? A confession?
Qin Chaomu had lived for nearly thirty years and had experienced countless confessions, but one this twisted was a first.
Did Shen Guai like her, not Chen Qinghe?
Even though Qin Chaomu had guessed this countless times during sleepless nights, now that the words were at the tip of her tongue, she felt afraid. She was truly afraid of Shen Guai liking her.
Qin Chaomu was six years older than Shen Guai. She knew that Shen Guai’s career was just beginning. Chen Qinghe had loved Xin Shang for seven years and had sacrificed her career for Xin Shang’s future, only to end up in such a state.
Qin Chaomu didn’t want to become the next Chen Qinghe.
Shen Guai would eventually meet many more, better people. The fleeting whim of a young girl would eventually be consumed by the long, repetitive years.
Love is the cheapest thing in this world.
Can people truly see each other’s hearts through their eyes?
Shen Guai gently kissed Qin Chaomu’s fingertips and then took them into her mouth. She observed Qin Chaomu’s deepening blush, a sweet smile hanging on her lips.
Whether eyes could see it, Shen Guai didn’t know, but Qin Chaomu’s blushing face said everything.
“Shen Guai… don’t.”
Qin Chaomu’s face was blood-red. She couldn’t tolerate someone committing such a profane act against her; a sense of shame grew like a virus. She wanted to push Shen Guai away, but her body, controlled by the other’s touch, trembled along with Shen Guai’s rhythm, turning soft like a puddle of mud.
Shen Guai watched Qin Chaomu’s body coldly. Seeing the person she had fantasized about for eight years now falling into her grasp, a morbid sense of security flooded her heart.
From the age of fifteen when she first saw Qin Chaomu on television, to today it had taken Shen Guai eight years to get to her side. Regardless of the motive, regardless of how much love or paranoid possessiveness was mixed in…
From the first moment Shen Guai saw Qin Chaomu, it was destined that Qin Chaomu had become her private property. Shen Guai would use every means possible to make Qin Chaomu fall for her.
Qin Chaomu’s fingernails left bloody scratches on the younger girl’s skin; the intensity nearly made her faint. She looked at Shen Guai in disbelief; the girl’s cold eyes were so foreign to her.
Shen Guai greedily inhaled the air around Qin Chaomu. She was jealous that even the air could touch Qin Chaomu’s body, clinging to her at all times.
It was just like the maddening jealousy she felt in her youth when hearing Qin Chaomu’s scandals, or when watching Qin Chaomu’s kiss scenes with others over and over again.
The image of Qin Chaomu kissing others in TV dramas surfaced in her mind again. Shen Guai’s large eyes seemed to spit fire. She straightened her fingers, savoring the sound of Qin Chaomu’s breathing.
“Sister, how many women have you actually slept with?”
Shen Guai smiled, but her long fingers squeezed Qin Chaomu’s neck. “Sister, I don’t like listening to liars.”
Qin Chaomu bit her lower lip, her voice soft and weak.
“Don’t want to say? Then let me guess…”
Shen Guai rubbed her fingertip and then placed it in her own mouth, sucking on it.
“One… two… three…”
Those bright, starry eyes lost their luster. Shen Guai’s expression grew worse. She gritted her teeth, her fingers moving up, almost crushing Qin Chaomu’s jawbone.
Shen Guai stopped her counting game and kissed Qin Chaomu’s lips with a venting fury, looking like a mad dog that hadn’t eaten for days.
“Mph… mm…”
Qin Chaomu was held tight by the “mad dog,” nearly suffocated by the kiss. She had never been treated this way, and no one had ever dared to try.
Shen Guai was the first.
Qin Chaomu had no strength left in her body. Despite her struggles, she was restrained by Shen Guai every time.
Was this Shen Guai a snake in her past life?
Qin Chaomu cursed inwardly. She felt like a Lego set, being disassembled and manipulated at will. She thought dizzily, I’m not going to die at the hands of this crazy woman tonight, am I?
Beep…
Shen Guai’s phone sounded a notification, acting like a lifeline for Qin Chaomu.
It was a concise text message.
[Meet at the old place in one hour.] The contact name was KEN.
Qin Chaomu saw it clearly.
Shen Guai’s expression turned complex. As if afraid Qin Chaomu would see, she quickly turned off the phone and tucked it into her clothes. Shen Guai put her clothes back on.
Qin Chaomu breathed a sigh of relief, but as she thought about the content of the message, so late at night…
Qin Chaomu narrowed her eyes, her frown deepening.
“Sister still hasn’t told me how many people she’s done it with.” Shen Guai twisted her lipstick and applied a thin layer to her lips.
“So many I can’t remember.” Qin Chaomu frowned, lying powerless on the bed. “Who was the message from?”
“Boyfriend.” Shen Guai observed Qin Chaomu’s expression.
“Boyfriend? Why didn’t I know?” Qin Chaomu sat up abruptly.
“Are we that close?”
Shen Guai let out a mocking chuckle. “Have you ever tried to understand me? Do you know who I am? Do you know what I like? What I hate? Qin Chaomu, you know nothing about me.”
Shen Guai tied her sash, and the door slammed shut.
Clearly, she was very dissatisfied with Qin Chaomu’s answer.
