The Eldest Lady always wants to have a double O Relationship with her old enemy - Chapter 45
“Zhao Zhao, which floor are they on again?” Shen Jianxi asked, linking her arm with Tang Yanzhao’s.
Tang Yanzhao carried a fruit basket in one hand and replied, “17th floor.”
Jiang Lan had stayed in the hospital for three days due to her injuries before being discharged, while Fang Xing’s neck wound required several stitches but didn’t require a long stay.
Originally, Jiang Lan was supposed to go home to rest, but upon hearing that it was to take care of Fang Xing, she deliberately moved into a small apartment outside with her. The excuse was flimsy; anyone could tell she just wanted to be close to Fang Xing.
When they arrived, they happened to see Ye Tao standing at the door.
Shen Jianxi greeted her brightly, “Taozi.”
Ye Tao smiled in response, “You’re here.”
“Why are you standing at the door? Isn’t there a code?”
Ye Tao pointed to the shopping bags beside her. “I just got here too.”
“Oh, alright.” Shen Jianxi didn’t think much of it.
They entered the door using the password Jiang Lan had sent them earlier. With a beep, the lock opened.
In the bright apartment living room, Jiang Lan, sitting next to Fang Xing, jumped up like a mouse. The pain in her injured knee made her wince and inhale sharply.
Fang Xing glared at her, scolding, “Slow down, do you want to end up back in the hospital?”
Jiang Lan laughed sheepishly, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. It’s just been a while since I last saw them, I got excited.”
Fang Xing sighed and also stood up.
Seeing Ye Tao’s hands full, Jiang Lan pretended to be offended. “You came, but you brought gifts too?”
Ye Tao rolled her eyes. “Bought some pig brains, like cures like.”
“Taozi, you’re learning bad habits,” Jiang Lan said, glancing at her.
Ye Tao turned and went to the kitchen to put down the items on the counter.
Jiang Lan pointed to the snacks and drinks they had prepared earlier. “Take whatever you want to eat or drink, don’t be shy.”
Shen Jianxi sat on the sofa, picking up a soda bottle, but failed to open it. She naturally handed it to Tang Yanzhao.
Tang Yanzhao understood her intention instantly, opened it, hung the cap on the bottle, and handed it back.
Shen Jianxi patted the seat beside her. “Come sit.”
Hearing water running in the kitchen, Tang Yanzhao said, “I’ll go help Ye Tao.”
“Sure,” Shen Jianxi responded.
After taking a sip, she turned to Jiang Lan. “You’ve been staying here for a while. This time, I came on a mission.”
Jiang Lan clicked her tongue impatiently and then sighed deeply, “I know.”
“Grandma Jiang wants me to persuade you to go home. They miss you.”
Jiang Lan casually peeled a banana for Fang Xing and said lazily, “Home has so many people. What’s so special about being there? If I leave, what about Xingxing?”
Fang Xing, ever considerate, said, “I’m fine, you should go back.”
“How can I leave? You have to change your dressing every day, and you can’t do it yourself.”
Shen Jianxi frowned slightly, with a hint of reproach as she looked at Fang Xing. “What about your parents? Don’t you need to see them?”
Before Fang Xing could answer, Jiang Lan angrily said, “Don’t mention those dog parents. Let them go with her alpha brother. Parents like that aren’t needed.”
Was it really appropriate to say this in front of Fang Xing?
Shen Jianxi, her mind full of Tang Yanzhao, didn’t consider Fang Xing’s background.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, when Xingxing was young, she wasn’t very healthy. They should have taken care of her, spent a lot of money, but her parents decided to have another child and neglected her. If she weren’t lucky, she probably wouldn’t have survived.” Jiang Lan instinctively tapped the sofa beside her. Luckily it was soft, or her already injured hand would have been in worse condition.
Fang Xing gently took Jiang Lan’s hand, rubbing her fingers and wrist to comfort her. “It’s all in the past. Don’t be angry; it’s bad for your health.”
“I worry about you. Because of your childhood illness, even a minor injury now takes longer to recover.” Jiang Lan said through gritted teeth, then added wistfully, “If we had met when you were little, I could have protected you. You wouldn’t have suffered so much.”
“Now everything’s better. I have you,” Fang Xing said, rubbing Jiang Lan’s head like petting a puppy.
Watching their interaction, Shen Jianxi felt a pang of jealousy and went to the kitchen to find Tang Yanzhao.
As a young lady who never touched a kitchen utensil, Shen Jianxi could only watch, because Tang Yanzhao decided not to let her help after seeing how she held a knife.
Tang Yanzhao, carrying her in her arms, naturally allowed Shen Jianxi to act as a bystander.
This time, they were just making hotpot—nothing complicated—mainly a mildly spicy broth, a bone broth, a tomato broth, and plain water.
Since there were two injured people, they couldn’t eat spicy food or drink alcohol. This was the first alcohol-free dinner with all five together.
Ye Tao and Tang Yanzhao handled most of the preparation and cleaning.
When it was time to leave, Ye Tao wiped her hands and saw Shen Jianxi sitting alone on the sofa watching TV. “Why are you alone? Where are the others?”
Shen Jianxi pointed to the room. “Fang Xing said her wounds are uncomfortable; Jiang Lan is changing her dressing.”
“Alright. It’s getting late, I’ll go first. You two?” Ye Tao asked casually.
Shen Jianxi glanced at Tang Yanzhao. “Shall we go?”
“Sure.”
Shen Jianxi reached out her hand, Tang Yanzhao pulled her up, and Shen Jianxi stumbled into her embrace.
The light collision made Tang Yanzhao’s heart flutter.
Shen Jianxi turned her head to cough several times. Tang Yanzhao noticed that her lips were slightly redder than usual in the light.
“Let’s go say goodbye to them first,” Shen Jianxi said, holding Tang Yanzhao’s hand, their fingers interlaced. They pushed open the slightly ajar door.
In the bright room, Fang Xing was leaning against the headboard. Jiang Lan had one hand supporting the wall, leaning over, her head tilted, almost covering Fang Xing’s body.
The quiet room made the sound of water more noticeable. Shen Jianxi froze, about to speak, when a pair of warm hands covered her eyes, effortlessly guiding her out. The door didn’t even make a sound—every move was fluid, as if rehearsed.
Seeing them come out like this, Ye Tao looked puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
Shen Jianxi grabbed Tang Yanzhao’s wrist, complaining, “What are you doing?”
Tang Yanzhao coughed lightly, unusually embarrassed, saying nothing.
Shen Jianxi squinted meaningfully. “So you knew what they were doing?”
Tang Yanzhao swallowed and avoided her gaze. “I don’t know.”
Shen Jianxi nudged her nose. “Hmm… trying to avoid the topic?”
Before she could continue, Ye Tao shook her phone. “I left them a message saying we left first.”
Shen Jianxi agreed and the three left the apartment. Shen Jianxi’s driver was waiting outside. She intended for Ye Tao to go with her, but Ye Tao insisted on taking a taxi. Shen Jianxi had no choice but to call the bodyguards nearby to ensure Ye Tao got home safely.
On the car ride, Shen Jianxi and Tang Yanzhao sat in the back. Tang Yanzhao stared straight ahead, the dim street lights flickering across her face, alternately soft and indifferent.
Shen Jianxi sat quietly, her mind wandering. At the next red light, she suddenly flipped onto Tang Yanzhao, who instinctively held her arm. Her head rested against the seatback.
Shen Jianxi’s hand wandered under her collar, circling her collarbone.
“Zhao Zhao, you know what they were doing, right?”
The “they” was obvious.
Tang Yanzhao turned her head to avoid her gaze, offering no response.
Shen Jianxi wasn’t going to let it go. She lifted her other hand, touching Tang Yanzhao’s face, forcing her to look.
“Look at me.” The command carried a hint of flirtation.
Tang Yanzhao pressed her lips together, instinctively tightening her grip on Shen Jianxi’s arm, then restrained her strength.
“Zhao Zhao,” Shen Jianxi’s gaze was fixed on her lips, “if you know, then let’s try.”
Her words were ambiguous—try kissing or try dating—but in this situation, it didn’t matter.
Shen Jianxi had desired this for a long time. Tang Yanzhao’s awareness of the situation only intensified that desire.
Tang Yanzhao froze, torn between reason and impulse.
Shen Jianxi closed the distance, their scents mingling in the quiet night.
Just as their lips were about to meet, a wave of nausea hit Shen Jianxi. The metallic taste of blood filled her throat. She bent down, coughing violently on Tang Yanzhao’s collarbone.
The sudden movement snapped Tang Yanzhao out of her daze. She grabbed Shen Jianxi’s shoulders, trying to pull her up.
Shen Jianxi pressed down, her hoarse voice saying, “Don’t move.”
Those two words were enough. Tang Yanzhao didn’t dare act recklessly and waited quietly.
It wasn’t until they got home that Shen Jianxi got off Tang Yanzhao first, stepping out of the car without holding her hand this time.
